Chapter eleven
"Max!" I watched in horror as my ex fell out of the air. I urged the dragon after her, but it was too late. She hit the ground hard. I jumped off and landed kneeling beside her.
"Fang…" Lissa started, walking towards me.
"Go! Continue fighting!" She took a few steps back, looking ready to protest. "Now!" She scrambled away.
"You should go too. There's no way you can heal me and then continue fighting. Your power will go out," Max said softly.
"I'm not continuing without you, Max. if you die, so will I." I looked at her HP. It was draining out slowly but steadily. "Stay with me, Max."
"Go, Fang. It's not worth it."
"No! I'm staying with you! I'm not letting you go! I love you Maxie. When will you understand that? I am never letting you go again." She reached up and touched my cheek.
"I've never seen you cry before," she whispered.
"I've never almost lost the love of my life before." I placed my hand over hers. "Fire, heal halfway."
"Fang, no! Take it back!" Maya shrieked. I sighed: too late for that now.
"You shouldn't have done that," Max said, sounding stronger.
"But I did." Not caring that Maya was watching, I kissed Max quickly and deeply even as the boss turned towards us. Guess it realized the strongest isn't out yet. Moving in practiced perfect synch, we channeled all of our energy into one blast. This blast hit the boss dead on, resulting in the defeat of it.
The other guild members stood/ hovered in silence. Nobody moved for fear of something bad appearing again.
"Level 3.5 boss defeated. You may move on," the overhead voice said. Max and I sighed in relief as the others cheered.
"Max and Fang need healers! Pronto!" Nudge said. Two girls ran to us, and our HP and energy level was soon back to 100%. We mounted our dragon.
"Alright, Angels and Demos! We have all fought well! But not without fear of losing someone dear!" 'You got that right,' I thought. "Tonight, we celebrate with a feast! But for now, choose which items you would like!"
The other members around us chatted as they chose items. Max and I got a couple of claws and potions. My mind was reeling right now. I know I will get Hell from Maya for kissing Max when we get back to the guild house.
"Alright, ladies and gents! Let's go home!" I said. Around us, everybody glowed and disappeared.
