Kanda P.O.V.

Last night was a blur. I thought hard while trying to piece the evening together.

Flashback

We brought Allen inside as he talked in to his earring. A tall man with fiery-orange hair walked out of a white door that suddenly appeared in Allen's room, he was smoking a dimly lit cigarette and had half a mask covering his face. He was followed by…Komui.

"What the-? Brother what are you doing here?" Lenalee asked from behind me.

Komui just shook his head and walked over to Allen's side. Allen handed him the earring and a silver mask. The other man stood at the foot of the bed.

"Damn idiot. Can't even kill some lousy akuma without almost dying." The man muttered crossing his arms and looking at Komui.

"How bad?" Komui asked Allen.

"Bad. Shot right in face, and my back was still recovering from the last fight." Allen clenched his teeth at the end and closed his eyes.

"God Allen…all right General Cross can I have the box?" Komui asked walking towards Cross. Cross handed over the box and Komui laid it on the bed at Allen's feet. There were test tubes filled with glowing colors. There were syringes, gloves, bottles that contained god knows what and at the bottom there was a luminescent red bottle of small pills. Lavi looked at me and frowned.

"Go sit in the living room this isn't going to be pretty and we're going to be here a while." Komui said taking out a syringe and filling it with one of the test tubes liquid. We stood beside Allen and looked at the man that just spoke. I glared at him and was about to yell when I felt a tug at the bottom of my shirt. I looked down and saw Allen holding on to the fabric. I knelt down and looked at him.

"You…need…to go…s-sorry…" Allen gasped out as Komui injected the first needle in to his arm. I frowned but nodded at him. I grasped his hand and then stood up taking Lavi and Lenalee out with me. I walked down the stairs and sat heavily on the couch. Lenalee and Lavi sat next to me. Lavi had his head in his hands, Lenalee had her bangs covering her eyes and I had my head thrown back, looking up at the ceiling. None of us talked. We couldn't hear anything until Allen started screaming. And even then it was very faint. You wouldn't notice it unless it was completely silent and you were listening for it.

We sat there for about two hours until we heard someone coming down the stairs.

"Allen's asking for you." Komui said and then turned around walking back up the stairs. We were still for a moment until Lavi raced up the stairs with me and Lenalee following him. We burst into the room and saw Allen laying on the bed with various machines attached to him. I walked over to his bedside and looked down at him. I took his hand in mine and sat down on the edge of the bed. His eyes fluttered open slowly and he looked at me. His grip tightened slightly around mine until his eyes closed shut.

Lenalee and Lavi pulled me out of the room and we walked off to go talk with Komui.

"All right, Allen's physical and mental state was damaged. He will be fine but he needs to recover. And what this means is that until he is completely healed, he cannot fight, he cannot go to school, and he absolutely cannot use the ark. Are we clear?" Komui asked looking at each of us.

"We understand the general idea, but we don't know why he has to fight in the first place and what is the ark? Brother, I'm very confused right now." Lenalee said looking at her brother.

"Allen didn't explain anything yet did him?"

"No, not really. He tried but every time, something got in the way."

"I see. Let me talk to bookman. I'll be right back." Komui said and walked to the door. He passed the man with the fiery hair and they exchanged words before Komui left.

"So brats, how's the idiot been?" The man said walking towards us and leaning against the table in front of them.

"We don't know who you are or what you're talking about…" Lavi said looking at the man with narrowed eyes.

"Well then, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Cross Marian. I'm also known as Allen's Master since he is after all my idiot apprentice." He said while stomping out a cigarette while lighting up a new one.

***Line Break***

Kanda P.O.V.

Komui came back a few minutes later and tried to fill in a few gaps for us. He explained why Allen was fighting. What akuma were, and what the ark was. He tried to explain everything he could but there were a few things he said that only Allen could tell us. He explained what innocence was and how it can react to specific people, but that was also one of the things Allen had to explain to us further. Bookman came in telling us that Allen was stable but fading in and out of consciousness. We decided to go up to see him anyway.

We walked in again seeing some machines connected to his body. There were less machines but it was still intimidating. I walked in first and sat on the bed next to him. I heard Lavi and Lenalee come in and sit down on the other side of Allen.

"Allen?" Lavi asked looking at his still figure.

He sat up slowly. Machines beeped as he pulled wires off himself and needles out of his arms. Cross burst in first followed by Komui and then Bookman. Allen opened his eyes and everyone gasped. His eyes were changing colors. They stopped on red and his eyes landed on Cross. His eyes narrowed and his hands gripped the sheets so hard they ripped. Komui motioned us towards him, I slowly nodded at him.

"Allen?" I said backing away from him. Lavi and Lenalee followed me until we were behind Cross.

"Idiot apprentice, stop being an idiot. Heh, if that's even possible." Allen's eyes turned a darker shade of red and Komui shot Cross a warning glare.

"Get out of bed lazy bastard; I have debts for you to pay off!" Allen just sat there in the same position.

"What would Mana think?" Allen's eyes flashed crimson. His nails elongated as did his teeth. He jumped out of bed and crouched on all fours like some sort of beast. He crawled towards Cross letting his nails scrape across the ground.

"Get out." Komui quickly rushed everyone out except for Cross. He slammed the door behind him.

"Komui! What the hell we can't leave them in there! There's obviously something wrong with Allen!"Lavi shouted.

"Cross can handle Allen! We can't protect you while he's in that state." Komui shouted back as he ushered us downstairs.

"We don't need protection! Allen would never hurt us!"

"That thing in there wasn't Allen!" Komui shouted, veins pulsing. He threw his hat on the couch and sat down. He wiped his forehead and put his head in his hands.

We all went silent after that.

We listened to the growling, screaming, hissing, banging and anything else that happened up there. After a few minutes, everything went silent. We heard on more scream and everything was quiet. We all looked at each other and ran upstairs. The first thing we saw was Allen.

He was next to what looked like Cross lying on the ground. He was on his knees, his face buried in Crosse's chest. His body was shaking and we could hear quiet sobs coming from him.

We all had the same thought in our minds: Has Allen killed Cross?
