HOLLA!

So here in this chapter, we see a major move forward in the subplot of our story. I hope you enjoy it.

Obviously I don't own Glee and it's characters (except Charlie, he's mine and based on a couple of friends of mine) or Starkid. I checked the dates of Holy Musical B man! and I don't really pay attention to the days so just bear with me..

17th March 2012

Blaine had taken nearly a week to recover from his batch of chemotherapy. His body wasn't responding well to it and neither was Kurt. But his extra-long spell in recovery meant that it was no problem for Kurt to record the track with the Warblers and they had experimented with a few other songs to please the crowd that were now more than ever pleased to hear the Warblering notes that came out of Room 221b.

It was just two days after Blaine's return to their room that the boys positively bounded into the room, startling the two boys out of their conversation, well argument really, on the best love musical songs.

"Come What May rules over everything!" Blaine was arguing profoundly, his eyes wide with shock that anyone could suggest anything was better than the classic duet from Moulin Rouge.

Kurt conceded this factor but still shook his head in disagreement. "No way, anyone who has seen Starship would contend that there is no better love song than The Way I Do!"

Blaine threw up his hands in exasperation. "But that's not an official musical! I mean Broadway, West End, professional theatre! Come What May cannot be beaten!"

Kurt paused for a moment, considering this idea. Come What May was a beautiful song and it was one of the best out there but so was The Way I Do. "I didn't realise you took Starkid so unprofessionally." His voice turned haughty and hurt, all in good jest. "I never thought you, such a fan, could be so cruel!"

Blaine threw back his head and laughed. "How about this? We'll sing both songs and get our friends to decide which the better love song is. Not all of them are Starkid fans and not all of them are Moulin Rouge fans. It would be perfect." He faltered as he saw Kurt's wide eyes. "That's if you want to sing with me of course, I don't mind if you don't, it was just a silly idea, of course you wouldn't…"

Kurt laughed at his friend's ramblings. "Blaine I would be honoured to sing with you, the captain of the Dalton Warblers no less and a great young gentleman."

They both blushed slightly at this perhaps slightly over the top comment and it was a mercy and relief that Blaine's Dalton friends chose that very moment to burst in through the door, wide smiles adoring their faces and two boxes of chocolates between them. Such good friends had they become with Kurt that now when they brought Blaine a present, they insisted on bringing Kurt one too. Sadly it was noted by Kurt and he suspected Blaine too, that the same could not be said for his McKinley friends who were disappointing irregular visitors. Kurt did admit that Mercedes came a few more times than the others and she was on name base terms with the boys who were sometimes there at that same time as the Dalton visitors.

"Hey Blaine, hi Kurt!" Hunter's chirpy voice sounded extremely fake and the mimicked Cheshire Cat grins on the faces of those around him was a warning sign for the hospitalised friends to be wary.

"What do you want?" Blaine's voice was slow, a mixture of both confusion and amusement interwoven in his gentle tones.

Sebastian cocked his head to the side, his eyes staring at Blaine. "And why would you suspect that oh wise and all-knowing leader?"

Their suspicions were confirmed as Kurt and Blaine heard Sebastian's voice was a perfect mimic of Hunter. "Do I need to spell it out? We don't have all the time in the world here." Blaine had developed a little irritable nature; a short patience didn't bode well any more with his trouble-making friends who were never up to good.

Their Dalton friends rolled their eyes and dropped their, frankly rather scary, stances. "We have good news." Hunter smiled, bringing out a laptop from the bag over his shoulder.

"The best news." Jeff added on, setting up with alarming speed a projector so that everyone could see and Kurt and Blaine couldn't have to move.

"We brought chocolate!" Jon sounded like a little kid as he threw a box of chocolates to Blaine. "We ate all of the nutty ones in yours Blaine even though we tried to buy a non-nut set because we know you're allergic." He then threw a slightly different box to Kurt who caught it deftly. "And Mercedes told us how health-conscious you are Kurt so those are low fat and low calorie. And we ate the fattiest and unhealthy one's for you and can guarantee they taste as amazing as normal ones."

Kurt opened the box to see a gorgeous array of chocolates that did look enticing with only 2 or 3 missing and his heart melted at how generous the boys were. "Thank you so much. You guys shouldn't be doing this much work when you've got finals coming up."

Trent shrugged as he helped set up the laptop and projector. "So have you. You two are going to be out of here in time for prom and graduation and finals, you can't miss it."

"They are the most important events in your life so far." Hunter added.

"But they're going to be our last." Blaine muttered, his good mood had not help up, even with the chocolates in his hand.

There was a pause, the Dalton boys unsure of how to respond to this despondent head boy of theirs. "Blaine, in the last couple of months, we have been able to be in school for 3 weeks out of 8. That's nearly half and Dr Green doesn't want to see us in here next week unless it's an emergency. That means we are getting better." Kurt was taking a firm and honest approach, speaking to Blaine as none of the other boys could. "We are going to ace our finals, we are going to see a Starkid show, we are going to prom, we are going to graduate. And we are NOT going to let some diagnosis that says we won't make it past that date let us down, got it?"

It was perhaps the most passionate that the Dalton boys had ever heard Kurt. It was like a rally and it had made Blaine look up in surprise. He looked at the fire in Kurt's eyes, the longing passion for that to happen, unknowing that it was also for him, and was spurred on. He could do this. "Got it." he grinned before turning to his friends. "So, why exactly have you set this up?"

Sebastian grabbed a chair and started to type furiously. "This, my dear friend," Jeff explained, "is a step to working out who killed Tom."

Blaine's jaw dropped open. He knew that the boys had been suddenly more intent on opening the case but he hadn't realised Kurt was a part of this and they were doing something. "But, how exactly?" He asked perplexed and looked to his friend on the other bed in the room. "And how do you know about this?"

Kurt smiled gently. "I decided that the truth was worth fighting for and couldn't be ignored. So I've been working with the boys and we figured one of the ways to eliminate suspects to find the murderer or obstructers of the truth, was to find out who was out of the houses that night."

"And how do we find that out?" Blaine's confusion was still blindingly obvious and he didn't hide it.

Sebastian smiled sweetly to his boyfriend as he started to type. "That is why you have me, sweet cheeks. I made my way, hacked is far too vulgar a word, into the school systems and although it took a little longer than I anticipated, I have managed to get a list of sorts. From there it will be simply a process of elimination of all suspects."

Blaine raised an eyebrow; it was surprisingly simple although he could see a small chink in the armour of their plan. "But what if the person who caused Tom's death didn't clock out that night in order not to be thought of as suspicious?"

Sebastian shrugged. "We'll have to take our chances but given as it appears as an opportunist approach, we are guessing that it won't be a problem."

Both Kurt and Blaine adjusted their head rests so they were sitting up almost completely upright. "So, is this the list then?" Kurt asked, peering at the suspiciously long list as Jon, Trent and Hunter perched themselves on the beds while Nick and Jeff grabbed chairs to sit on while Sebastian remained in front of the computer.

Sebastian turned to look at Kurt with a look of disapproval. "Do you have that little faith in me Hummel?" He didn't wait for a reply as he turned back around and kept typing. "Of course not, that is the list of every single time someone clocked in or out that year. I just have to isolate the day," suddenly the list looked a whole lot shorter but it still wasn't great, "and then the let's say 9 hours we all had to be inside from 10pm to 7am."

He finished typing with a flourish and pressed enter. The list was not long at all, only 20 names of which 7 of them were teachers. "Not bad Sebastian." Jeff smiled. "This was the 'best news' that I mentioned. Sebastian has had to work hard to get through to it."

Sebastian nodded. "Dalton's security is a lot tighter than I imagined."

Trent rolled his eyes. "That's probably because they know there are people like you Seb who are prone to hacking files and are good at it to boost."

"Plus the files are nearly three years old so filtering through to one year is quite a job." Nick added. "That's why it has taken us so long."

"You guys have forgotten something very important." Hunter suddenly sounded rather serious as if it was something crucial and unforgiving to forget. The boys looked at him perplexed. "The e-mail I received yesterday?"

All those aside from Kurt and Blaine suddenly cheered and their grins became so wide they threatened to challenge the Cheshire Cat. "Um, what e-mail did you receive yesterday?" Kurt asked curiously. "Don't look like the cat who got the cream and then refuse to spill the beans."

Hunter dug out his phone, clicked a few buttons and cleared his throat before beginning to read. "Dear Mr Clarington. Thank you for your e-mail regarding the purchase of tickets for Holy Musical B man! this forthcoming Monday. We are delighted to able to confirm your purchase of 15 tickets for the opening performance and are so glad you can join us. We also appreciate your concern regarding your friends Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson who you mentioned joining you from Lima County Hospital. We will ensure that their seats at the show are adequately readily available and we would be honoured to meet them in person. They set an example to our other fans as loyal and dedicated people which we acknowledge. We look forward meeting you on Monday. Julia Albain, Matt Lang, Nick Lang and Team Starkid." He finished with a smile on his face. "I swear I will kill you both if you aren't well enough to come. I know there are only 8 of us but I don't think it will be too difficult to find 6 others to come with us."

Kurt gaped at them. "We're going to see Holy Musical B man?" His voice was filled with disbelief and awe.

"We're going to meet Team Starkid? The Team Starkid?" Blaine's voice was equally filled with awe. "How did you pull that off?"

The boys shrugged. "We simply told them that you were both terminal Leukaemia patients and it was a lifelong ambition to see them live. I reckoned adding that you guys had to come in wheelchairs due to your recent batches of chemo." Sebastian spoke, his eyes off the keyboard.

Kurt raised an elegant eyebrow. "Recent? The last batch of chemo for either of us was nearly a month ago!"

"But you two can't go anywhere without being in one." Nick butt in. "We spoke to Dr Green, he's more than happy to let you go on the condition of you both remaining in wheelchairs while we go."

Blaine was almost bouncing up and down in his bed. "Kurt forget what they said and what the terms are. We are going to a STARKID show! We are going to meet TEAM STARKID! At least act a little excited!"

Kurt smiled; the guy was like a kid in a candy store on Christmas Day. But then he frowned, remembering something Hunter had said earlier. "You said there were 15 tickets but yet there were only six places to fill and there are eight of us. Am I missing something?"

Jeff smiled. "We have a very special friend of Blaine's joining us. He was the one who introduced us all to Starkid."

Blaine's jaw dropped open. "You didn't?" He breathed.

"Oh yes, they did." A voice that Kurt didn't recognise sounded from the door and they looked around to see a grinning red headed young gentleman standing in the doorway. "Hey Blaine, I'm disappointed you thought I would miss an opportunity like this." He smiled gently and made his way over to Blaine who gave him a fierce hug which he returned.

Kurt watched with an affectionate smile at this display of affection. "Hi," he waved from his bed, "I'm Kurt."

The man waved back. "I'm Charlie, year above this crazy lot at Dalton. I would come and shake your hand but this guy is a little clingy."

Kurt laughed as Blaine pouted like a little puppy dog. "He is, isn't he?" He smirked and the boys mimicked him at tier friend's expense.

"He's also even better news." Jon added as he extracted Blaine from Charlie with a smirk. "Charlie was there the night Tom died and will be able to help us in our investigations."

Charlie nodded. "I want to help you guys and I'll see what I can do from my dorm at NYU."

Kurt gaped. "You're at NYU? What are you doing?"

Charlie grinned. "Another New York fan? I'm afraid it's nothing exciting. I'm doing law; Harvard thought I was too good for them."

Kurt nodded. "I was planning on going to NYADA to do musical theatre but that looks like it's been scuppered by this."

Charlie grimaced. "Sorry to hear that, it would have been nice to have someone to mentor. Anyway, I am the reason these crazy kids are fans of the most awesome musical theatre troupe that ever came into existence."

"WORD!" Trent cheered with a grin.

"Just no Trent." Nick shook his head with a smile. "That was definitely not Eric Kahn Gale in any way."

"At least I tried." Trent pouted. "I'm allowed to try aren't i?"

"Not if you fail that bad." Jeff agreed with Nick.

Sensing the need to change the subject fast, Charlie peered at Sebastian's list that was projected on the wall of the room. "So obviously we can rule me, Blaine, Tom, Trent, Jon and Niff are out from the list." He commented and Sebastian started, they had all forgotten about their original mission.

"And I remember those three teachers were out on patrol duty for their houses that night so they would had to get back to their rooms in the teacher's block." Trent pointed out.

"Can you find out what time all of these people clocked in and out?" Charlie asked. "Tom's estimated TOD was between 1 and 3am. If we can slim it down to know who was out, that will give us a better idea of who we need to contact about this."

Sebastian nodded. "That won't take a minute."

He typed furiously for only a few seconds before the list shortened down to only four names. The names predominantly meant nothing to Kurt, he knew no Dalton boys other than the ones in the room right now but he undoubtedly thought he would get to know them soon. But there was one name he knew he recognised. He didn't know him by name but by bad association.

Cooper Anderson.

Bet you weren't expecting that, were you? What did you think? Did you enjoy it? Did it make sense?
