Chapter 10

Hailey was slowly making her way to her next class after her free period when the door to one of the storage rooms flew open and Derek reached out and pulled her inside.

"What are you doing in here?" Hailey asked as she searched for the light switch. "I thought you were going to stay outside." She finally located the switch and it threw the room into a soft glow.

"I had to talk to someone." Derek told her. "Thought I'd say hello." He reached over a brushed aside some hair that had fallen in her face, he frowned at the scarf around her neck. "Why are you wearing this?" He pulled the scarf off her.

Hailey reached for the scarf but he held it up out of her reach. "Because I don't want Scott to see the mark." She told him. "Give it back." She jumped up trying to get it but Derek just used that opportunity to pull her closer to him.

"No," He leaned down and put his face against her neck, kissing the mark softly.

Hailey closed her eyes, her hands dropping to his waist as she just took in the sensations his lips on her neck created. "What if Scott sees it though?"

Derek paused briefly. "Then he sees it. He won't know what it means. Anyway, he's probably got suspicions about us already."

Hailey pulled away a little alarmed. "What do you mean?"

Derek shrugged and grinned wickedly. "Werewolves have a very keen sense of smell."

Hailey groaned, knowing he wasn't talking about Scott anymore, "Well he hasn't said anything to me, he's so wrapped up in that new girl, Allison anyway. And lets face it, I love the kid, but he's not the brightest bulb on the tree."

Derek chuckled. "He's left for the day anyway, so you can leave this off." He put the scarf in his pocket. "You better get back to class while the coast is clear." He leaned down and gave her a quick kiss before opening the door and patting her softly on the bottom to get her moving.

Hailey threw a dark look at him over her shoulder, but couldn't stop the grin that followed. Her phone beeped, it was a text from Stiles.

Going to Lydia's. Going to find out more about what happened last night. See you after school.

"Thanks for the ride Danny!" Hailey called out as she waved to Danny driving off. She made her way into the house and into her brother's room in time to hear the tail end of him leaving a message for Scott. "And I'm too upset to come up with a witty description about how exactly I'm gonna kill you, but I'm just gonna do it, okay? I'm gonna-ugh! Goodbye. God."

"What did you find at Lydia's?" Hailey asked, flopping down on the bed.

Stiles just tossed her a phone, it was already open to a video. Hailey played it through, her eyes getting wider as she say that Lydia had captured the Alpha rushing past her. "Wow."

Stiles jumped as their father stuck his head into the room.

"Please tell me I'm gonna hear good news at this parent/teacher thing tonight." He asked.

"Depends on how you define 'good news.'" Stiles stalled.

"I define it as you getting straight A's with no behavioral issues." He explained.

Stiles played around with something on his desk. "You might wanna rethink that definition."

"'Nuff said." Their dad responded with a little disappointment before walking away, causing Hailey to laugh.

Hailey tossed the phone back to her brother, watching as he watched the video again. "Come on, Scott. Where the hell are you?" He muttered.

"When was the last time you spoke to him?" Hailey asked.

"Like at the begging of school." Stiles responded, frustrated. "What could he possibly be doing?"

"Who knows." Hailey got up and went to her room to get her homework out of the way.

She had been sitting there working for about a few hours when she heard a faint tapping against her window. Walking over, she saw Derek crouched outside, shirtless. She gasped and quickly opened the window, reaching out to help him climb in. "What happened?"

"Hunters." He gasped out, twitching slightly. "They were at my house."

"What?" Hailey helped him over to sit on the bed. "What did they do to you?" He was covered in a fine sheen of sweat, whether from running or from whatever had happened with the Hunters.

"Electricity. They zapped me with it." Derek let himself fall back on the bed, keeping one of his hands on Hailey's thigh. He closed his eyes and just tried to relax, as his body finally healed the damage Kate Argent had caused with the 900,000 volts of electricity.

"Are you okay?" Hailey asked, knowing it was a stupid but she had to ask anyway.

Derek nodded. "She said they didn't kill Laura." He told her. "They think the Alpha killer her."

"The Hunters told you that? Are you sure you can believe them?" Hailey queried.

"It does make sense." He told her. "She did admit to what – happened – to Laura after they found her, and they used her to lure me back here. Laura was an Alpha and if the wolf who killed her wasn't one, he became so when he killed her. Maybe that's what he wanted, to become Alpha."

"I'm sorry Derek." Hailey said softly. "I'm sorry for what happened to Laura."

Derek smiled softly up at her. "Thanks. Now come here." He demanded, moving over slightly on the bed.

Hailey smiled back at him. "I do have things to do you know?"

"But I'm here now." Derek argued. "What's more important than that?"

Hailey laughed quietly, knowing her brother was in the other room. She leaned down so she had one arm on either side of his head. "And what did you want to do, huh?"

In a move faster than her eyes could track Derek flipped them over so now he was the one looming over her with his arms on either side of her. "Finishing what we started earlier." And with that he captured her lips with his, this time there was nothing even remotely slow in how it started out.

Derek reached down and grabbed her hands, pulling them up above her head he used one hand to hold them there as the other reached down to run his hands up and down her side. Hailey strained against his hold, wanting nothing more than to touch him, but he wouldn't let her. Their kissing grew more frantic as the time went on. "I need to touch you." Hailey gasped out.

Derek released her hands and putting one hand on either side of her shirt and giving quick jerk he tore it off her. Hailey let out a breathless laugh. "I liked that shirt."

"I'll buy you another one." He growled out before falling back on her. He worked his way down from her lips to her breasts, nipping a sucking at the skin rising above her bra.

Hailey gasped at the feelings he was producing. Derek was not the first boyfriend that she'd had, but he was the only one that had ever made her feel this way. Her stomach muscles tensed as his hands slid down to the button of her jeans slowly releasing it and sliding the zipper down. Hailey lifted her hips as he pushed the jeans down her legs and pulled them off and throwing them across the room.

Derek came back to her, grasping one of the legs and wrapping it around his waist as he pressed down, causing Hailey to moan loudly. "Shh," he whispered in her ear. "We wouldn't want your brother to hear us now would we."

And as if his words were prophetic Hailey's door suddenly slammed open as Stiles burst in. "Hailey, dads- Ah!" He cried out as he took in what his eyes were showing him. His sister-half naked on the bed with Derek Hale, werewolf Derek Hale on top of her.

"What the hell Stiles!" Hailey yelled reaching for anything that would cover her up and not finding anything, pulled Derek so that he was in front of her. "Don't you knock?"

Stiles stared at them, shocked for a few moments before he found his voice again. "What the hell is going on here? What are you doing to my sister Hale!" He rushed into the room and tried to pull Derek off the bed and away from Hailey.

Derek just looked stoically at Stiles and the grip he had on his arm. That boy didn't have the strength to move Derek anywhere.

"Stiles stop!" Hailey cried out. "Just-" she sighed, trying to calm the situation down seeing that Derek was starting to get frustrated with Stiles actions. "What happened to dad Stiles?" She tried to change the subject.

Stiles realized he wasn't going to be able to make Derek Hale move. "He got hit by a car Hails." He turned to his sister, at least able to push Derek slightly away from her.

"What!" Hailey cried. "How?"

"There was a mountain lion in the parking lot at school and some idiot hit him as he was looking for it."

"A mountain lion?" Derek asked. "How did a mountain lion get to the school?"

Stiles looked at him. "How would I know that?" He demanded. "Why don't you just leave? We need to go take care of our father."

Derek just slowly stood up from the bed and turning his back on Stiles reached down and grasped Hailey's face between his hands he gave her a thorough and passionate kiss pulling away to say, "I'll be back later baby," before making his way over to the window and jumping out.

"What the hell was that Hailey?" Stiles demanded, rushing over to slam the window shut as if that going to keep Derek away.

Hailey picked her jeans up from the floor sliding them on and went over to her dresser to get another shirt. When she turned back around she saw her brother held the two halves of the shirt Derek had ripped off her.

He looked at her and asked seriously this time. "Hailey, what's going on between you and Derek? First at the vet clinic and now this."

Hailey looked at her brother, touched at the concern she saw there. "It's okay Stiles, I know what I'm doing."

"He's a werewolf Hailey. He's dangerous."

"No more so than Scott." Hailey reminded him. "Come on, lets go see how dad is."

"We're not finished with this conversation Hailey." Stiles called to her retreating back.

Hailey sighed, "And I'm really looking forward to it baby brother."

To say that the conversation with Stiles didn't go well was the understatement of the year. Her brother was already so angry at Scott for letting their father get hurt and now he was, I suppose angry was the only word that Hailey could think of as to what Stiles was feeling towards her at the moment.

Hailey pulled up outside the hospital. She had decided to visit with Derek's uncle, thinking that maybe a little more contact would help in his recovery.

She walked up to the front desk. "I'm here to see Peter Hale." She told the lady at the desk.

The lady smiled at her kindly. "Are you family dear?"

Hailey shook her head. "No, not family. I'm a friend of his nephews and just thought I would come a see him."

"That's very kind of you. He's in room 2209. Visiting hours are over in an hour though. So you don't have much time."

"Thank you," Hailey smiled and wandered through the hospital to his room. She knocked on the door before she entered. "Mr. Hale?" she poked her head into the room. "Whoa!" She was shocked at the stern red-headed nurse that was in the room."

"What are you doing here? Who are you?" She demanded.

Hailey tentatively made her way into the room. "I'm here to visit? I'm a friend Derek Hale, his nephew."

The lady continued to glare at her. "Visiting hours are almost over. Make sure you're gone by then."

Hailey quickly moved out of the doorway as the nurse came storming out of the room. Hailey looked at her retreating form, lovely lady, she thought to herself. She shrugged and turned back to the catatonic man sitting in the wheelchair. She moved over to place the vase of flowers she had brought with her on the bedside table.

"Hi Mr. Hale. I brought you some flowers. I thought that a man like you would enjoy their smell." Hailey looked over at him, no movement. Hailey sighed. "I'm so sorry for what happened to you and your family. You know I used to know Cora, we were in the same gymnastics class and I remember how Laura used to come and pick her up every now and then. They were both really nice people and I'm so sorry for your loss."

Hailey sat there just talking with him until the stern nurse came by to kick her out. She decided to go and see Derek next and find out how his time with Scott went.

"Was it really necessary to do that to Scott?" Hailey asked sitting on the couch in Derek's home. "You probably scared him half to death."

Derek grinned slightly. "He did say something along those lines. Anyway, he needs to learn how to control it. The Alpha will come for him again and when he does, Scott needs to be ready. He's a bitten wolf Hailey, they're a lot harder to teach than born wolves."

Hailey watched as Derek moved about the room, trying to set to right some of the damaged furniture that was there and piling aside anything to be tossed out. He really was something to look at, he had taken off his shirt when he started the work and Hailey couldn't take her eyes off him.

"And what about me?" She asked instead, watching him work. "What if I became a werewolf? Would I be hard to train?"

Derek stopped what he was doing and walked over to her, flopping down on the couch next to her, he took one of Hailey's hands in his. "That's not going to be an issue just yet."

"Why not?" Hailey frowned. "Wouldn't you want me to be one?"

Derek smiled at her, a part of him touched that she was worried he wouldn't want that. "Of course I do but only an Alpha can turn someone and I'm not an Alpha so until I am, you are going to stay human."

"Don't you know any that you could ask to turn me?" Hailey wanted to see where he was going with this.

Derek's hand tightened on hers, his eyes turning blue and a growl came out of his mouth. "No ones going to bite you but me." He growled out possessively. "You're mine." He eyes flashed to hers and his arms reached up, pulling her face to his and his lips to hers.

Hailey gasped as the intensity of the kiss and the possessiveness she felt there. Derek pushed her back so she was laying on the couch the kiss just growing and growing. Hailey pushed gently on his shoulders. She turned her head to the side to gasp out. "Derek."

"Mmhmmm," Was all he mumbled as he just moved his lips down her collarbone and to the slight swelling of her breasts above her shirt.

"Derek, I need to go." She gasped out.

"Stay." Was all Derek said, not stopping his actions.

Hailey's back arched up as one of his hands reached up to squeeze one of her breasts. "I have an early class tomorrow. I really need to go."

Derek pulled back, frustrated. "One day uninterrupted. That's all I want."

Hailey laughed softly getting up from the couch grabbing her jacket and reaching down for Derek. "Come on, drive me home."

Derek allowed Hailey to pull him out of the house and to his car. He opened up the passenger door for her smiling back at her when she got in. The drive didn't take long, nothing really did in Beacon Hills and he pulled over a few houses down from hers.

Hailey just sat there, not ready to get out just yet and before she could think it through any longer turned to Derek, this time being the one to initiate the kiss. Grabbing his face in her hands she pulled him to her.

Derek was more than happy to let Hailey take control, for a few seconds at least. It wasn't long before his werewolf nature took over and he took complete control of the kiss. She was intoxicating! Everything about her was perfect for him, he knew that deep down she was the perfect mate for him. His hands on her waist pulled her across the car so she was straddling him and he pushed her jacket off her shoulders.

Hailey smiled against his lips. "I really should be going."

"Uh-ha." Derek groaned out.

"This is me, leaving." But Hailey didn't move.

"Yeah, you should go." Derek didn't stop either. Just moving his lips down to her neck, over his mark where he bit her again.

Hailey groaned, all but going limp in his arms. Something about him biting her on the neck really got her going. But she knew this wasn't the place to really get going. They were in a car and someone could walk by at any time.

Hailey pulled away and giving him one last kiss jumped out the driver's side door and ran down the street towards her house.

Derek watched her go, trying to calm his breathing. He waited until she got into her house before driving away.
