The next morning I woke up and the sun wasn't even at its highest point yet. Nightmare and Lightwhisperer were gone I figured they were over seeing things. Quickly I got ready and headed outside. Riders and Elves were everywhere doing different things. Nightmare? Lightwhisperer? What's going on?

There was an attack while you were asleep. Nightmare said.

And you didn't think to wake me!?

The attack was small and pitiful if the attack had been bigger then I or Lightwhisperer would have come and gotten you.

We knew you were tired Wolfheart. We wanted you to rest in case there was a larger scale attack. Lightwhisperer said.

One of you come and get me.

I'm on my way. Lightwhisperer said.

She appeared in front of me. I mounted her and she took off. Nightmare I know who I'm going to send.

Who?

Me.

No! I'm not sending you there! I will not allow it!

Nightmare we can't send anyone else.

I don't care! You are not going there!

But I have to! It's the only way to save everyone!

Wolfheart I said no and that's final!

I blocked Nightmare from the conversation. Lightwhisperer you're going to take me there.

But Wolfheart Nightmare said-

I DON'T CARE WHAT HE SAID! You're taking me and that's final!

I felt Lightwhisperer cringe under my yelling but at that point I didn't care. Wolfheart I don't know the way. She said gently.

I'll show you the way.

I sent images to her and she flew to the direction that she needed to. I thought about where would be a good place to stay hidden. There was a forest near where they were so I figured I could hide there. Lightwhisperer got near the place where I had seen everyone. Land in the forest we can watch them there.

She flew toward it and landed. Dismounting her I crouched behind a tree near the edge of the forest. Lightwhisperer submerged herself in a lake that was a little ways behind me. For hours I watched them work feeing more and more pity for them. The sun was beginning to go behind the trees and they were still working. Someone was coming into the forest and I quickly jumped into a tree. I watched and tried to figure out who it was. Happiness filled me when I realized that it was Eragon. "Eragon!" I hissed.

He searched looking for who had said his name. I jumped down from the tree and he spun around. "It's me Wolfheart."

He sighed in relief. "What are you doing here?"

"The thing that captured us is planning to attack you."

"I know but I came to get everyone back. Is there a time when no one is watching you?"

"Nightfall."

"That's the time?"

"Yes."

"What if I get you guys out tonight?"

"Would you be able to travel there and back before nightfall?"

"I believe Lightwhisperer and I could."

"Lightwhisperer?"

"Yes. She's Saphira's last offspring."

"But a rider can only have one dragon."

"It's a long story that Saphira can explain."

He looked at the sky. "If you want to get here by nightfall then I suggest you leave now."

I too looked up "Alright. Where do they keep you guys?"

He pointed, "See that cell? That's where. They keep it unlocked in case someone needs to leave for any reason."

I nodded. "I'll be back tonight I promise."

Lightwhisperer we need to leave now.

She emerged from the water and came to me she nodded to Eragon since she knew he wasn't a threat. We need to head home and gather every dragon and rider we can so that we can rescue people.

Alright.

She headed back towards home as fast as she could. Nightmare gather all the riders and dragons, we're rescuing everyone tonight.

Wolfheart! You're okay!

Yes I'm fine now hurry.

I didn't get a response back as I knew he was doing what I asked. We made it home and everyone was gathered there waiting. I dismounted Lightwhisperer and explained what was going to happen. Everyone agreed to it. I mounted Nightmare as I would need Lightwhisperer to carry someone plus I needed to talk to Nightmare. Quickly everyone took flight and we headed to Galbatorix's old lands. Wolfheart, I'm sorry I should've trusted you.

I understand Nightmare. Your job if to defend me even if it costs your life and you were trying to keep me out of harm's way.

He didn't respond but I patted his neck even though he had armor on. We were close to the lands when there was a ball of fire hurtling at us. Nightmare swerved so that we wouldn't get hit. Wolfheart what do we do!? Lightwhisperer' s panicked voice filled my head.

Try and rescue the people without getting hurt or killed.

Nightmare dipped to avoid another ball of fire. Nightmare can you see who's sending the fire?

No, I've tried to find them.

If you can without getting hurt fly near the ground and let's see if we can spot these things. If we do then we kill them.

He dipped down ever so slightly to see if he would get shot at but he didn't and he dipped lower. "Skulblakas ven."

I now saw everything from Nightmare's point of view hoping that I could see what these things were. No matter where his eyes searched he didn't see anything. I retreated from his sight. Suddenly Nightmare sped up. I found them.

I searched with my eyes for them but my eyes were useless compared to Nightmares eyes. Then I saw them but I didn't know what creature they were. It had the features of an elf but had the build of an urgal. What are those things?

I don't know but their life is about to end.

As soon as he finished his sentence he breathed fire. Scorching the creature, when Nightmare was done the creature was no more. Then a fire ball was coming straight at us and Nightmare shot straight up, I gripped the saddle so I wouldn't fall off. I'm going in again hold on.

I gripped the saddle tighter as we dive bombed the wind blowing my hair back and I had to close my eyes as the wind made my eyes watery and I couldn't see. I felt heat radiate off Nightmare as he breathed fire. One more to go.

Make it fast!

The heat radiated again as he killed the last one. They're gone, whatever they were.

I opened my eyes and looked at the damage on the ground below. Trees, and shrubs were ablaze. Dragons were everywhere along with elves and some dragon less riders. A dragon rider was heading to us and I realized in was Eragon. "Eragon! What are we going to do!?" I yelled over the sound of the battle.

"End this once and for all! There's a Shade flying somewhere around here! I believe if we kill it then this'll be over!" he yelled back.

I nodded to him and we split up to look for it. Lightwhisperer look for a shade and if you find it roar.

As you wish.

Nightmare flew around looking for the Shade but we couldn't find any trace of it. We searched and searched until finally there was a roar and it was Lightwhisperer. Nightmare made a sharp right and flew towards her. When we got there she was fighting a dragon that looked to be made of smoke but was very much alive and the shade was on its back. Nightmare let out a battle cry and I unsheathed my dagger. Let's finish this.

Nightmare charged, Lightwhisperer looked at us with relief, Lightwhisperer look out!

She flicked her head back to the Shade's dragon, as soon as she looked at it she was covered in flames. Lightwhisperer!

Nightmare sped up and covered the head of the Shade's dragon in flames. I looked for Lightwhisperer, she was flying away from the Shade she was a light shade of grey. Wolfheart duck!

I followed Nightmares command and I did just in time as fire went right over my head. There was a roar near us Who is that?

Its mom and Eragon.

We need to finish this!

Easier said than done.

He dodged another stream of fire. His body got hot as he breathed some in its face. Another jet of fire his the dragon on the right side of its face then another at the right. Hit him all together!

Soon the shades dragon was covered in fire. It began to spiral down to the ground "What now?" I asked Eragon.

"I'll take care of it. It's not the first time I've faced a shade. Help the others."

I nodded. Come on guys. Nightmare dived towards the ground with Lightwhisperer at his side. "Skulblakas ven."

There were catapults and archers everywhere. We need to take these out to help the riders!

As you wish. Lightwhisperer said.

She fell behind us Nightmare let out a jet of flame as we dived then he straightened out as continued. I looked behind me and saw Lightwhisperer following Nightmare's lead. His flame ended, I looked into the sky and saw that Eragon was fighting the Shade. Then he was knocked off Saphira. Lightwhisperer! Go save Eragon and do what he says.

On it!

She took off. What are we to do Wolfheart?

Fly around and help anyone we can there shouldn't be much because we took out their archers and catapults.

Nightmare began to look around but we could find no one everyone was either finishing off the last few enemies there were or waiting around. I looked up gain at Eragon. He was doing well with Saphira and Lightwhisperer. This had to end, we can't sit there forever. I looked around on the ground and saw where there was a dead elf, its bow and arrow was lying right next to it. Nightmare I need to get that bow and arrow.

I pointed where it was located. He dived then straightened out low to the ground I leaned to where I could grab it. I reached my left arm out and grabbed it. Get me a clear shot.

Nightmare flew up and circled to find me one. He stopped Is this good enough?

I pulled the string of the bow back with the arrow in place. I waited till I could get a shot to its heart. The shades back faced me, "Brisingr." I muttered.

The arrow caught on fire and I let go of the string. I watched praying that the arrow would hit its mark and it did. Everyone began to cheer. The war was over, for now.
