Chapter Ten: Time

I'll never stop dreaming that one day we can be a real family, together, all of us laughing and talking, loving and understanding, not looking at the past but only to the future.

-LaToya Jackson

A nice sunny day with a gentle breeze blew pass them. This was life. Reid sat down on the checkered blanket and watched his family laugh and have fun. He threw away his life to miss this.

"Hey there Pretty boy," Morgan smiles.

"Hey Derek," Reid waves.

"Oh 187 don't be a stranger," Garcia laughs pulling him into a hug.

"Unca Spen!" Henry squeals happily.

Reid picks up the little blonde and spins him around in circles until they're both reduced to helpless giggles.

"It's good to have you back," JJ hugs him tight.

"Yeah, you had us worried for a moment there," Emily laughs.

"This piccolo is one of a kind," David jokes.

"I'm not that young, I'm thirty-six years old," Reid grins.

"Compared to us Spencer, you're young," Hotch gives a rare smile of his own.

"Yeah but not like me or Henry!" Jack yells.

"Of course not buddy," Hotch chuckles.

Reid walks with Henry hand in hand to the swing set. He helps the little boy up to a swing and pushes him.

"Higher!" He laughs.

Reid complies by pushing him higher. This causes Henry to break into more giggles.

"Luv ya unca Spen," Henry hugs him tight.

"Love you too," Reid returns the gentle gesture.

"Aww! Cheese!" Garcia snaps a picture.

"Nice to 'ave ya back mate," Will pats his back.

"Thanks," Reid grabs the offered drink.

"Hey Reid," Morgan calls.

Reid looks up and puts Henry down. He ruffles Jack's hair as he makes his way to his best friend.

"Looking back at what happened I...I just wanted to say sorry," Morgan scratches the back of his neck.

"A million times I have said I can't forgive you," Reid sighs.

"Then you walk away and don't explain wh-"

"Because, there's nothing to forgive," he answers simply.

"Still-"

"It's okay Derek," Reid smiles, "I'm happy and safe."

"How is Dr. Reid?" Morgan asks.

"He has...less lucid times..he seems like his mother was, reading and writing," the doctor of the facility sighs regrettably.

"How is he today?"

"...his episodes are no longer violent would you care to join him?"

"Yes please," Morgan nods.

"Thank you," an eight year old blond boy says.

Both agent and young boy head to the door labeled Dr. Spencer Reid.

"Hey pretty boy," Morgan calls cautiously.

"Morgan?" Reid asks.

"Uncle Spencer," Henry hugs him.

"Henry," Reid smiles.

Morgan and Henry sit on the bed as Reid sits in a rocking chair by the window.

"How are you?" Morgan finally asks.

"Fine," he replies with a shrug.

"D-Do you have any stories today uncle Spen?"

Reid nods and calls for the boy to sit on his lap. He stokes the blonde fine hair and jumps into a tale of his imagination.

"Our whole family was at the park today and it was sunny outside. We were eating laughing and being free," Reid began.

Morgan looked out side the window. The sky was gloomy and it was raining. Rossi died two months ago and Hotch retired after Strauss died. JJ moved back to Pennsylvania with Will and Henry and are visiting today for the week. Garcia is still at the BAU and Prentiss took over her mother. Morgan, himself is just as lost as before. That night at the bridge was the worst of his life.

Reid and him fight for the gun when Morgan realized it was aimed at his friend's head. Then the gunshot revealed Reid had pulled the trigger. Neither was hurt. The bullet was imbedded in the concrete structure of the bridge wall.

"We're better off dead," he had said.

"No Reid...don't," Morgan held his friend until the rest of the team arrived.

It was worse than he imagined but Reid is safe.

"What's wrong?" Reid touches his arm lightly.

"Thinking how this could've been prevented," he sighs miserably.

"It was meant to be...time still keeps moving forward and so should you," Reid shrugs shifting slightly the weight in his arms.

Henry had fallen asleep.

"But you...Reid-"

"It's okay Derek," Reid smiles repeating what was on his delusional state of mind, "I'm happy and safe."
