-silently crying-
This chapter… the feels. The honey nut feelios….
I hope you like this cuz I sat there imagining trying to give my daughter up and just… cried for like ten minutes.
I don't own twilight, or the song I Loved Her First. SM and Heartland do, respectfully.

Jessica paced, refraining from her normal nervous habits (biting her nails, running her fingers through her hair, and chewing her lip) seeing as her mother had worked so hard on her hair, makeup, and nails. She hadn't been allowed to see Kayla the 24 hours before the wedding, and she wondered how her dress looked, if the chapel looked right, how many people had showed up. She looked down at her dress, the flowing purple and white design making her look a little slimmer than normal. It was a simple dress, the sleeved short and neckline dipping a little, but not too much. It was made of flowing silk and made herself remember that today was the first day of the rest of her life.
Before her, Kayla would be walking up the isle with her father, and after she would become Mrs. Kayla Jones.
"Jess!" Jessica turned to see her brother running up to her, hugging her. Her brother was fifteen now, but still as tall as their dad was. Bella was following closely behind him, smiling at her daughter, Alice next to her.
"Lucka, aren't you supposed to be in line?"
"Actually, I go in behind you. Also, I saw you stressing. So I came over to tell you to stop the calamity that are your mammaries!"
Jessica stared at him and he huffed, pouting.
"Calm your tits?"
"Oh!" the bride-to-be laughed, hugging him. "Thank you, Lucka." He hugged her back.
"No problem. You're my big sister. I can't have you stressing out yet, you're not even a wife yet."
"So, is your girlfriend here?"
"Yeah, she's already sitting down. Now, get ready. The music is about to start." Jessica nodded and he kissed her head, offering comfort that she often had given him as a child. Alice came up to her next, hugging her daughter, crying.
"I can't believe my baby is getting married."
"Momma, don't cry, please. You'll ruin your makeup."
"Waterproof. I'll cry all I want, my first child is getting married!"
Bella smiled, nodding for Alice to go sit down in the pews. Alice kissed her wife and went to take her seat while Bella stepped forward and hugged her daughter.
"Nervous?"
"Vary."
"Don't worry, darlin'. I was nervous, too, when I married your momma." Bella smiled at the surprised look on Jessica's face.
"Really? Why?"
"I didn't want to disappoint her, or you, and knew that this would be the biggest commitment I had have made. But I also knew that I loved her, and she loved me, and that would get us through anything. Now you love Kayla?" Jessica nodded quickly. "And that girl loves you with all her heart. So, relax. You two will be fine. Breathe." Jessica nodded and did as she was told, hearing the music start and knew Kayla was walking in. She took Bella's arm and Lucka walked behind them with the rings, a small smile on his face. He was proud of his sister, and happy she had found love.
Jessica gasped as she walked in, spotting her soon-to-wife. Her dress was similar to hers, but instead of white, the purple was matched with black. Kayla smiled at her, her breath taken away by the sight of her bride.
"And who gives this woman?" The preacher asked.
"Her mother and I," Bella smiled, putting her daughter's hand in Kayla's and bowing, sitting beside her wife. Kayla smiled at Jessica, almost not believing they had come this far. The ceremony went in a blur to them, with strong "I do"s and a lingering kiss, the first they would have as a married couple. Soon they were at the reception and Jessica was looking for her father, but she was nowhere in sight. A tapping at the mic brought the attention of the audience to the stage, where Bella stood, looking kind of nervous.
"Would my daughter and daughter-in-law please come to the center of the dance floor?" Kayla grinned and led her wife to the mentioned location. "Now, as you all know, I've had a long journey with my punk of a kid, which began with her mother. Jessica was a stubborn teenager, but mostly well behaved. Kayla entered her life early in, and even early on, I knew I would be stuck with this kid who put Jessica's, and my wife's, stubbornness to shame. So, I found a song that kind of puts everything I want to say into words. Kayla asked me to sing it for their first song."
The music began and Jessica started dancing with her wife, listening to her dad's rich alto voice fill the room.
Look at the two of you, dancing that way.
Lost in the moment, and each other's face.
So much in love, you're alone in this place, like there's nobody else in the world.
Jessica smiled, realizing this song was directed mostly at Kayla, but was about her. For her daddy, that was a perfect combination.
I was enough for her not long ago.
I was her number one, she told me so,
And she still means the world to me, just so you know, so be careful when you hold my girl.
Time changes everything, life must go on, and I'm not going to stand in your way.
But I loved her first
I held her first
And a place in my heart, will always be hers.
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep.
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But it's still hard to give her away.
I loved her first.
Kayla smiled when her wife stepped more in her arms, resting her head on her shoulder.
How could that beautiful woman with you
Be the same freckle-faced kid that I knew?
The one that I read all those fairy tales to
And tucked into bed all those nights
And I knew from the first time I saw you with her
It was only a matter of time.
But I loved her first
I held her first
And a place in my heart, will always be hers.
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep.
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But it's still hard to give her away.
I loved her first.
The two girls twirled and danced over the floor, surrounded by smiling faces, some with tears, others bravely holding it in.
From the first breath she breathed,
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep…
Someday you might know what I'm going through…
When a miracle smiles up at you…
I loved her first…
Claps rang out for both the newlyweds and Bella, who jumped down from the stage, silent tears rolling down her face as she embraced both girls. "I love you both, and I want the best for you." She pulled back and took a paper out of her jacket. "This is the gift from your mother and I." Alice came up beside her and the room grew quiet as she handed it neatly folded paper to the girls, who opened it. Kayla covered her mouth with her hand.
"Oh, my god…"
"What?" Jessica asked.
"They… they got us a house." She showed the paper to Jessica, who felt her eyes water as she looked at her parents.
"You guys were going to move into some shitty apartment, and we just didn't like the idea of that. So… for babysitting purposes and all, there was an empty place next to our house…"
"The one someone was renovating?"
"That someone… was us."
Jessica gasped and tackled Bella in a hug, crying tears of joy. Kayla hugged Alice, thanking her over and over before the two somehow switched and Jessica hugged her mother and Kayla was hugging Bella.
"It's not just us, though. Your brother came up with the idea shortly before you guys got engaged…"
There was a squeal and Bella blinked, realizing the girls were no longer in front of her and heard a thud, looking over to see that her son had been tackled by the grateful women. Everyone cheered and the party got going, Alice smiling at her wife and tucking the stripe of pure white hair Bella had gained over the years, pushing it behind her ear.
"You're still crying, love."
"Cut me some slack, my only daughter just got married. I'm not all that sure how I feel about that…"
"Well I hope happy is in there somewhere." Alice smiled, showing that she was teasing. Bella smiled and kissed her head.
"Shall we join the others on the dance floor?"
"I would love to."
THE END
Oh my gosh, it's the end. The actual end. There was an ending. I'm so proud. I hope it was good….
ANYWAY
See how I named the story after the song? Anyone wondering where I was gonna throw that in? Be honest, those who thought it would be a wedding, raise your hands and get cookies!
Isn't it great to have a happy ending?
