Its been about...2 years? Right? Damn sorry really doesn't count it this time. SO SORRY! To be perfectly honest I re-found my password and worked on updating chapter 10. I won't keep you guys waiting any longer!
Now lady's and gentlemen...
I give you...
Edward Scissor Hands.
Chapter 10: One summer day
"D-don't be afraid…please…"
Goosebumps enveloped my entire body as if the voice I heard behind me slithered behind my neck, down my back, and freezing me in place. My eyes have never gone this long without blinking and my vision began to blur due to lack of moisture but I didn't care the slightest bit. I wasn't alone in the big creepy mansion that was high up on this hill, far away from the nearest suburban home, and where no one knows I am.
I trembled…what's going t-to happen to m-me?
"Stop where you are." I demanded even though I don't know if he is walking towards me or not.
Snip, snip.
I gulped roughly and tried not to let the tears fall, "W-what do you want?" I demanded in a raspy voice.
He didn't say anything for a long time, all I heard was the sound of scissors lightly snipping air which only added more fear. My bottom lip trembled, "Please tell me…what y-you want?" I shivered painfully.
"…I-I…I don't…"
"I CANT HANDLE THE PRESSURE!" I burst out all of a sudden and doubled over to take humongous breathes of air as I squeezed my eyes shut. Holy carp how haven't I not vomited my guts out yet!? I'm stuck in the middle of a scene from a horror movie and I'm already having a panic attack!? I'm supposed to save that for the end when I'm hiding from the killer then calm down to resume my fight for survival! But noooo, Addison crumbles like a cobbler before anything even happens!
Wait…why hasn't anything happened? I turned my head around slightly and peeked through my hair that fell out of my cap and saw there was something trembling in the shadow by the large gaping hole. Was it the…person who spoke? I stood up straight slowly, not taking my eyes off the trembling figure hiding in the shadow, and swallowed before speaking, "Um…h-hello?"
Snip, snip.
I chewed the inside of my cheek, "Why are you hiding?"
He didn't say anything. I tried to see his face but the shadow did well in hiding everything. He was sitting on the ground with his back arched towards his legs and his hands tucked at his side but still close to him as if taking cover. I blinked a few times confused, "Did…did I scare you?"
More snipping sounds came from him and the shadowed part of his head nodded.
"Are you going to hurt me?" I asked quietly.
"…No."
I didn't let me guard down. Instead I slowly got down on the ground and crossed my legs in front of him; he was a few feet away which was good for I'm not sure what to make of this guy. He could still be dangerous and lying for all I care.
"Who are you?" I asked.
He didn't shift or move much, let alone breathe a word. I sighed and tightened my grip on my t-shirt. "My name is Addison. You can call me Addis if you like?" I said.
"Addis…"
"Yeah, that's it." I nodded. "What's your name?"
"Edward."
…wait what? Why did that sound so familiar? I squeezed my eyes shut as I tried to wrack my brain for why this all sounded too familiar. Where have I heard that name before? More specifically from who?!
Snip.
My eyes shot open, "WAIT YOUR EDWARD!?" I gasped and scrambled away from the man in the shadow. Holy molly holy molly! Grandma Kim was right all along! There is a man named Edward who lives here! Wait a second…the man who lives in this mansion all alone is true which means his hands…are they really made of…
"E-Edward?" I said. "Can I…see your hands?" I asked.
He lifted his hands and pulled them deeper into the shadows with him as if he were scared. What am I doing? I can't believe I'm acting like this…I barge in here and scare this guy for like the fourth time and here I am asking to see if his hands really are made of scissors just like in Grandma Kim's story.
After calming down I scooted a little closer to the spot I originally sat in and sighed, "I'm sorry for scaring you Edward…But I think I know who you are."
His head shifted slightly, "You do?"
"Mhm," I nodded, "Someone told me a story about you…about a boy with scissor hands." I smiled as I recalled the memory of lying snug in bed on that freezing winter night as she told me the most wonderful story I have ever been told.
"Can I see?" I asked one more time.
Edward glanced to the gaping hole for a moment then turned to me, he hesitantly held out his hands into the evening light and my breathing shuddered. I stared down at a pair of dull twitching blades that looked deadly but were possessed by a shy and kind man. I reached out and poked one of the longer blades and in response it twitched. I snickered, "This whole time…this whole time I thought such things couldn't be real." I smiled up at him, "A person created not from a man and woman but from the imagination of an inventor! Do you know what this means!?" I smiled.
Edward starred at me with wide eyes as I leapt to my feet and starred out large hole in the roof where I was given a view of the entire suburbia and far away. "Anything is freaken possible!" I smiled widely with a laugh and felt my cap fall back; I turned to Edward who had an awkwardly small funny smile. I giggled, "What? What's so funny?"
He turned to the opening in the roof again then back, "You're funny…"
I shrugged, "I get that a lot." I smiled.
He turned to the hole again, this time he didn't turn to look back at me. I looked where his eyes were and was curious as to what he was looking at. I sat beside him, "What are you looking at?"
He turned to me a bit shyly, "I'm…waiting."
"Waiting? For what?" I asked.
His left hand rose and the long blade that was supposed to be his index finger pointed out the hole towards the suburban homes down below, "The music."
"Music?" I looked out the window with him to look down at the neighborhood. We stood still for awhile waiting for the "music" Edward was talking about. A few minutes later, a very distant tune began to play…I cupped one hand over my ear to listen. Glancing over at Edward he didn't seem to phase the slightest bit as the sound came into focus. It grew a bit louder with every minute that passed and I was able to make out the music. It was "it's a small world."
My eyebrows dropped and I looked out the window closer to see deep in the distance was a pink and yellow ice-cream truck driving around the neighborhood and disappearing behind a couple houses. I looked back at Edward who was still looking out the window, listening. The sound of the ice-cream truck faded away within three minutes but Edward's determination did not.
"Um, Edward? Was that the music you were waiting for? Because it's long gone already…" Poor guy. I can't really judge him for he has been alone up here for who knows how long?
"No. That wasn't it." Edward assured me, scissor hands twitching in anticipation.
"What does the music sound like?"
"….It's…pretty." He simply said.
I nodded and tried to think about the music he was waiting to hear. Now that I think about it, if Edward can hear music playing from all the way up on this hill doesn't that mean I can hear it to from my home? Was there another ice-cream truck that drove around suburbia?
"It's late." Edward frowned (even more?!) as he looked down at his feet.
Okay I hardly know this guy but just seeing him sad all of a sudden makes me want to hug him. No Addis! He can still be dangerous! Those dark brown puppy dog eyes and…slightly t-trembling bottom lip could be a façade he came up with…oh no now he's looking at me.
I sighed, "I'm sure the music will play soon alrig…."
….I'm the stupidest prodigy in the whole damn world. I fell to my knees, Mr. Johnson was right….
"A-are you okay?" Edward said as he looked down on me with concern.
As fast as I fell I got right back up, "Yes I'm good! I'm just re-thinking my life is all!"
He seemed confused but I continued to speak, "Edward, I think I know what the music you have been waiting for is. And why it's so darn late." I smiled. Thinking about my anime for a split second I spun around exaggeratingly and struck a pose earning a goofy/amused look from the man with scissor hands.
"I'm the one who makes the music!"
Edward starred at me unblinkingly and didn't say a word for a long time. Huh….I was expecting a more surprised reaction. I coughed; let me try again, "Um, the music you hear from suburbia Edward was from me…I play the piano everyday with my window open."
This time his eyes narrowed and his scissors snipped, "…You play the…music?"
I smiled and nodded, "Do you like how the piano sounds?"
He nodded.
"It's gorgeous isn't it? There's no other sound like it."
"It's beautiful." He smiled very lightly, but it made my heart warm up. That was a very sincere and genuine smile…I liked it a lot.
"Thank you….Mr. Scissor hands." I chuckled. Suddenly I looked out of the large hole and my eyes widened. My poor heart which was healing from the heart attack I had earlier began to make fall back down to my stomach…the view of a grey van making its way through the neighborhood caught my attention.
"OOOHHHH NO NO NO! My parents are home!" I picked up and my cap and put it on quickly as I made my way through the large room. Edward somewhat followed me but stopped at the doorway as I ran down the long stair case.
"Will you play the music?" He asked normally, his voice echoing throughout the manor.
I stopped for a moment to look back at Edward who had his blade hands together. Gosh he's like a child at heart, "I will, I promise! Before the sun goes down!" I ran out the door and speed through the gardens to get home as fast as I could. I'm probably not going to make it home in time before my parents see I had left the house, but despite the possibility of getting grounded I didn't mind for I kept thinking what song I was going to play.
Addison finally met Edward, isn't he sweet? Again I apologize for the long wait. I really want to finish this fic, but time isn't something I can control. I understand what its like to wait for a story you like so much that is never updated.
If you guys read Edward Scissor Hands fanfiction often then you have probably read a story called Verticut about suburbia set in the waaayyy future. That story is the SHIT. I love it to death! If the movie were to have a sequel since it has so much potential for one I think that would be it. But the author hasn't updated in years, longer then me actually, and I think it's safe to say (and disappointing) she will never finish the story. WHICH SUCKS CAUSE I WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!
Anyways, sorry for the long wait I'll try to update again.
Untill next time, Samono out!
