***One Month Later…

7':13am Higurashi Shrine***

Kagome sat outside on one of the few stairs leading up to her front door fiddling with her new phone. Her baby pink french manicure nails moved quickly as her fingers curiously tapped on everything they could find. She had just bought the phone a couple weeks ago…after her and Bankotsu had broken up. Not that she changed her number or anything, but as she had been down in her spirits she decided buying a new phone would make her feel better. She hadn't even started using the thing until a couple days ago. She sighed as she leaned back on her elbows and looked up at the pastel blue sky sporting white cumulus clouds and a bright sun. Her mind began to wander...

It had been a full month since the blowout in the mall and some things had drastically changed. One, her and Bankotsu broke up. Luckily for her though he didn't seem to take it too hard. It was fairly mutual, she had just been the one to bring it up. Also after the blowout at the mall Kagome and Sango had been left in this awkward place where she didn't know what to say to Sango and Sango still refused to tell her the truth about what happened between her and Ayame.

On top of that it had been non-stop fighting between her and Kikyo ever since that day. Their house was practically a war zone and she knew it was driving their mother crazy that they literally seemed like they couldn't go a day without having some sort of altercation with each other. With all the time she had spent absent from school because of all the fights she had gotten into since everything started she was buried in make-up work that she had been adamant about completing so that her grades wouldn't fall. Also keeping Sango and Ayame away from each other was also a whole task of its own. Those two were literally out for blood and it stressed Kagome out to no end to not know why. To top everything off the guilt of loving Sesshomaru over Bankotsu and still being with him had worn her down to the point of ending it.

Bankotsu himself had been a little distant as well and had admitted that his interests had been dwindling also. Despite the fact that they had gotten to a good level of closeness with each other they both acknowledged that their relationship was mostly physical anyway. Kagome had never had some one make her feel as hot as Bankotsu did and Bankotsu had never had a girl intrigue him as much as she did, or keep up with him like she did. That being said, they still fucked here and there, but the relationship part of their relationship had ended, only to bring along a newfound friendship. They were actually really cool with each other.

Inuyasha and Kagome had some what of a strained relationship now. Kikyo completely objected to Inuyasha spending any sort of time with her sister, and though Kagome didn't like it, she let him go, not wanting to make him choose between her and her sister. She missed him though, he had practically become like her brother. They still texted, even talked on the phone once in awhile, but it didn't fill the void of time that she used to spend with him.

Because of this though (in addition to the fact that Kikyo was a lot angrier lately because she spent all her time fighting with Kagome) Kagome had noticed that Sesshomaru and Kikyo's relationship began to waver and slowly crumble. They were still together, but Kikyo pretty much never had time for him, unless it was to have sex. They hardly talked at school either and Kagome had noticed something else equally as strange. Now when her and Kikyo would argue she brought up Sesshomaru less, and Iuyasha more in order to piss Kagome off, because she knew how much Kagome valued her friends, but the switch was still so strange. She valued Sesshomaru as well so why switch to the other brother as bait?

Miroku and Sango's relationship had gotten stronger. They still weren't sleeping together (a fact that Miroku never brought up ironically) but Sango felt very passionate about him. So much so that she had confided in Kagome that she really thought she was falling in love with him. Sure he had also been wondering what the hell had happened between his girlfriend and Naraku but unlike Kagome, when Sango said she didn't want to talk about it, Miroku obliged, and never asked again. As far as Kagome could tell Naraku and Ayame still weren't in a relationship. If anything it seemed like Ayame was trying to avoid Naraku. Kagura still had her sights on Kagome as did Kagome to her, but both of them had too much already on their plates to deal with that they put handling each other to the back burner…for now.

The teacher who Kagura had paid off to try and rape her had been fired as well. Kanna, the youngest Tuzou had become closer to Kagome and Sango, almost to where instead of just seeing Sango and Kagome together, people always saw the three of them. Once in awhile they would even let Hojo weasel himself into the group. There was a clear divid now. Herself, Sango, Kanna, Bankotsu, Jakotsu, Miroku and then Kikyo, Kagura, Ayame, Sesshomaru, Inuyasha, and Naraku.

Kagome heard the front door open behind her and Kikyo pranced out the door in a purple mini-dress, a black belt tied around the middle with purple open toe heels that had a black bow tie on the top of each. Her hair was in a very curly ponytail and her makeup was flawless and themed purple. Kagome sighed. She didn't understand why her sister some times insisted on going to school looking like she was going to a club. She had also sighed because it didn't look right. Kikyo was beanpole skinny and she wasn't busty or curvy enough for the dress to look right. Also, she was too pale for such dark colors.

Kikyo looked down at her sister with a disgusted face and mumbled something under her breath that Kagome didn't even bother to ask about. She just didn't feel like it today. It was at that instant that Kagome's phone vibrated in her hand, and it was Sango telling her that she was there. Kagome shook her head and stood up. She was beginning to think Sango was doing it on purpose, waiting until Sesshomaru arrived to pick up Kikyo before texting Kagome that she was there. It was good because it meant she could piss her sister of by saying good morning to Sesshomaru every morning and giving him shy smiles to the point where now Sesshomaru was actually friendly with her...but she just wasn't in the mood today.

She trotted down the remaining house steps and walked straight before beginning to lazily stroll down the massive amount of steps they had leading up to the shrine. Kagome was dressed the exact opposite of her sister. She was wearing baggy black kapri sweats and a tight white quarter sleeved plain shirt with her hair in a ponytail over her left shoulder.

Kagome was tired. All the fighting over the past few months had really worn her down and she wanted nothing more than a vacation…but instead all she had to look forward to was another day at school. As she made her way down the stairs she looked up and caught sight of Sesshomaru as he got out of the car and opened the door for her sister. Without so much as a word, from what Kagome could hear, her sister got into the car and Sesshomaru promptly shut the door. He looked up, noticing Kagome coming down the stairs and the look on his face was one that was able to melt a little bit of the ice Kagome was beginning to feel. His lips had curled up slightly in that minuscule smile he did that Kagome never failed to catch. She grinned at him as he lifted a hand to give her a wave, and she waved back.

"Goodmorning Sesshomaru." She said politely as she stepped down in front of him. "How are you?"

"Goodmorning. I am well, and yourself?" He asked, his amber eyes weighing upon hers as they always did. Her chest began to feel constricted, like it was hard to breath, her hands feeling clammy. He still had that instantaneous effect on her.

"Oh, I'm fine. Can't say the same for Kikyo though. I'm sorry she's in a bad mood." She replied, re-adjusting her backpack on her shoulder. Sesshomaru gave a delicate shrug of his shoulders as he glanced at the car behind him.

"Hn. Seems to be a pattern lately." He murmured, his gaze sliding lazily back over to her. She blushed slightly as he quirked an eyebrow at her, then she chuckled.

"Don't blame me." She said. This time only one corner of his mouth twitched up to form a breathtaking smirk.

"I don't think I have anyone else to blame here Ms. Higurashi." He chided lightly. Kagome rolled her eyes playfully and grinned.

"What ever you say Mr. Taisho." She mocked, as she began to walk to Sango's car, shaking her head with a big smile on her face. The day was already getting better.

Sliding into Sango's car, Kagome tossed her backpack in the backseat and looked over at her friend, stopping short when she saw Sango's expression.

"Whoa, what's wrong?" Kagome asked. Sango's jaw was set, eyes narrowed in the direction Kagome had just come from, her expression serious. Getting no answer from Sango, Kagome followed her friends gaze over to Sesshomaru's car and squinted her eyes. After a moment she realized what had caught Sango's attention. Inside the car Sesshomaru and Kikyo…were arguing. At least that's what it looked like. Kikyo was close to him but her mouth was wide and her body was twisted as she pointed a finger close to Sesshomaru's face and he grabbed her hand. Kagome raised an eyebrow.

"The fuck?" She murmured.

"Kagome, I think it's time." Sango said softly, finally turning to look at her friend. Kagome's gaze shifted back to Sango, and finally had full view of her friend and raised an eyebrow. Sango was dressed unusually…girly. Now granted all the things they had bought were beautiful and sexy but...Sango never really wore skirts. Especially short light blue denim ones. Nor did she ever wear her hair in a side ponytail…nor had she ever seen Sango in a white shirt. A shoulderless one at that! There was even a white bow in her hair, and her heels were the cutest denim heels Kagome had ever seen!

"Ok, before we do this I have to say-Awe Sango you look so cute!" Kagome exclaimed with a giggle. Sango blushed, and couldn't help but to giggle as well and thank her friend. Kagome quickly turned back to being serious. "Ok, time for what now?" She asked. Sango took a deep breath.

"Time for the next shit-storm Kagome…meaning it's time for you to ask out Sesshomaru."

***Kuzoi High

11:32am***

Kanna let out a deep sigh, bringing the small white towel close and wiping off the droplets of sweat that had accumulated on her face and neck. She was sitting on the floor in the dance studio, alone. It was her lunch period, first lunch, and instead of dealing with everyone and the drama that was bound to be there and the constant pressure from her sister to stay away from Kagome, she had decided to spend her time in the one place she truly felt at peace. Taking another deep inhale she lifted her head and let her eyes graze around the room until they landed on a figure in the mirror. Gasping she quickly turned on the floor until she was facing the light brown haired boy dressed in a pair of school sweats and a track team sweatshirt. She recognized him, he was often around Kagome, she had even seen him talking to Inuyasha and Miroku before. His name…

"Akitoki Hojo." She stated, her eyes narrowing a little. What was he doing here? Her eyes narrowed even more when his whole face turned a bright red. He lifted his hands in the air as if to say he came in peace.

"I-I'm sorry!" He stammered quickly. "I just happen to be passing by…the door was open and…I saw you I…watched you dance. Sorry for making you angry." He lowered his gaze, scratching the back of his head. Kanna raised both eyebrows.

"I'm not angry." She replied simply, stretching slightly before slowly rising to her feet. Hojo's eyes watched her every movement until he realized she was watching him. He blushed again and let out a nervous chuckle. Kanna gazed at him silently, waiting for him to either speak or leave, but his shy fidgeting brought a slight smile to her face as her eyes softened. Instead of waiting anymore, she decided she wanted to mess with him. Making her way over to the portable stereo in the room she pressed the play button. Standing with her feet shoulder width apart arms relaxed at her sides as she rolled her head in a circle as the beat to 'Slow Down' by Selena Gomez began to play.

Now that I have captured your attention

I wanna steal you for a rythme intervention

Mr. T you say I'm ready for inspection

Sh-sh-sh-show me how you make a first impression

Oh, oh

Can we take it nice and

Slow, slow

Break it down and drop it

Low, low

'Cuz I just wanna party all night in the neon lights so you can't let me goooooo

Kanna rolled her body, popped it and turned it as she improved a sassy pop routine for the song. She was shy, but she felt like she turned into a different person when she danced. She had all the confidence she lacked when she had no music. She watched him through the mirror as she danced and giggled when she noticed the blush was still on his face as he watched her. She did it on purpose, swaying her hips, slowing down during the appropriate times. He wanted to see her dance so she figured…why not. With a grin on her face she let herself get lost in the upbeat pop song as she pranced around.

It wasn't just practice anymore, this wasn't a routine. She let her body move the way it wanted until the song was over. She panted slightly then turned to look at him. He was standing there stunned like before before a lopsided grin pulled itself across his lips and he raised his hands to clap clumsily. Her smile widened momentarily until a voice interrupted.

"Done with your little show?" Kanna moved her eyes from Hojo to the figure standing behind him and her face fell. Standing in the dance studio door way, dressed in skin tight leather pants and a checkered black and white shirt with white heels was Kagura. Hojo visibly stiffened as he slowly turned to see her. She moved her cold red eyes to him. "Why are you still standing here?" She questioned.

"Kagura, stop." Kanna said lowly. Hojo looked between the two sisters before opting that the best option was to leave if he didn't want to get pummeled by the elder Tuzou. The only thing scarier than that was the task of walking past her. She bucked at him when he got close enough then laughed when she saw him run off. Turning back to her sister she crossed her arms. Kanna was a very pacient person…but this grudge against Kagome and everyone involved with her thing was getting to be too much. Her fists were balled at her side as she narrowed her eyes only slightly at Kagura considering she as well held an ounce of fear for her older sister. "Why did you do that? He wasn't doing anything to you." Kanna spoke softly. Kagura rolled her eyes.

"I don't care if he wasn't doing anything he was in my way and I needed to talk to you." Kagura replied with a shrug. A new song began to play and Kanna turned her back on Kagura before walking to her iHome and turning it off. She looked at her sister through the mirror for a long moment before turning around.

"What did you want to talk to me about?" She asked lowly.

"Simple." Kagura replied as she walked over, heels clicking heavily on the hard wood dance floor making Kanna wince at the sound. Kagura didn't stop until she was less than a foot away from her younger counterpart. "I'm tired of seeing you up Higurashi and Tadashi's ass. Things are gonna get bad again soon, I can feel it, and you need to decide where your loyalties lie Kanna." Kanna looked at her confused then her lips tightened into a thin line and the anger began to bubble inside of her.

"Excuse me?" She asked, blinking slowly. Kagura huffed.

"You're not slow Kanna so I'm not sure why you need me to repeat myself. You. Need to. Decide. Where. Your loyalties. Lie. With your blood, or with your new friends." That was about it for Kanna.

"You're ridiculous." She whispered before picking up her iHome and starting to walk past her sister. She didn't get far before Kagura grabbed her arm and dug her fake manicured nails deep into her younger sisters arm causing Kanna to cry out.

"If you walk out of this room Kanna, I wont protect you anymore." She hissed venomously. Kanna's eyes widened and she hesitated. Protection from what? Shaking her head Kanna knew the only thing she needed protection from…was Kagura herself. She jerked her arm away.

"I don't need your protection." She hissed back before grabbing her backpack and walking briskly out of the room. Tears prickled in her eyes as she could feel the bruise from her sisters grab starting to form on her arm. At that point she didn't want to be around anybody. Kagura, or Kagome.

***Kuzoi High

12:13pm***

"Kagome…I really think you need to see this…" Sango said as she approached Kagome who shut her locker when her friend finished talking.

"See what?" Kagome questioned curiously as she adjusted her backpack on her left shoulder and began to follow Sango to the cafeteria. The day had gone by rather uneventfully, if anything it was boring, but Kagome was ready to take that over fighting any day. So far that day she had met up with the Midou siblings, and Miroku, even got to talk to Inuyasha for a bit before Kikyo's PMSing self had dragged him away and Kagura hadn't been in class, so no intense death stares plagued the back of Kagome's pretty little head. All in all she felt relaxed…but also a little depressed. She attributed it to all the fighting she had been going through. It exhausted her, and now it was finally break time.

"Kikyo and Sesshomaru fighting in the cafe." Sango replied nonchalantly, knowing she was baiting her friend. Well…Kagome thought it had been break time…

"What?!" Kagome demanded, eyes wide. Sango nodded with a grin on her face.

"Yup. So hurry that fine ass up we got a fight to hop into!" And with that Sango turned her walk into a jog and Kagome followed. It took them less than a minute to get to the cafeteria and Kagome's jaw nearly dropped at what she saw. A large circular crowd had gathered around a very tall silky haired Sesshomaru whose eyes were narrowed dangerously at the woman in front of him who Kagome could very easily identify as Kikyo. But she was very…very…unhappy. Kikyo's face was blotched red with anger, her cheeks swollen and voice shrill from the amount of screaming and obscenities coming out of her mouth. Her hair was wild about her face as she gestured animatedly around. It wasn't until they shoved their way through the crowd to get to the front could they understand anything.

"You're being completely irrational!" Seshsomaru bellowed, very clearly losing his patience as a bit of red began to seep into his molten gold eyes.

"I am not!" Kikyo screamed back lifting her hand as Kagome witnessed her shoving a finger in Sesshomaru's face for the second that day. "I see the way you fuckin talk to her!" Kagome could feel her ears ringing.

"Bitch calm down." She snapped irritably, breaking away from the crowd and stepping up to the two of them.

"Nobody asked for your fuckin impute!" Kikyo snarled in grotesque anger. Kagome stepped in front of Sesshomaru.

"I don't need to be asked I put my fuckin impute out when I want to, now I'm not Sesshomaru so you better take that fuckin finger out my face because dude or no dude I will break that shit off." Kagome growled back at her. Kikyo's hand rounded back and Kagome didn't flinch as her sister took a split second to prep to hit her. A spilt second was all it took though.

"BREAK IT UP RIGHT NOW!" Both girls jumped and sighed at the approaching dean whose face could almost rival Kikyo's with the amount of red anger present upon it. "Break it up right now before I drag both of you to my office I'm tired of this Higurashi's!" He bellowed. Kagome merely shoved her hands in the pockets of her sweat kapris and narrowed her eyes at her sister.

"Watch yourself." She murmured before obliging the dean in his wish and turning her back and walking away. Sango was right on her heels followed by Miroku and unbenounced to all of them…Sesshomaru. Sango knew better than to say anything to Kagome until they were outside. Her friend needed a couple minutes to calm herself down before the talking began. Miroku had taken the hint quickly and had kept quite himself, and the always quite Sesshomaru felt normal as he held back behind them. Kagome pushed open the doors to the front of the school, sunlight assaulting her eyes before she drifted through a litter of students on the lawn and found a tree to slump under. Sango squatted down in front of Kagome, her eyebrows wrinkling in concern. She placed her hand on her friend's shoulder.

"Kagome are you alright?" She asked. Not only was Kagome seeming extra down that day but she didn't understand why that small of a tif with Kikyo made her so exhausted. It was unlike her. Kagome sighed.

"I'm fine Sango…I just need a break, you know? Maybe I'm the one about to get my period…" Kagome said dryly making Sango giggle with slight relief that her friend still had her sense of humor. Sango stood up.

"Well I'm going to get you something cool to drink. Looks like some one else is waiting to talk to you anyway." She said, inclining her head towards a sultry fallen angel who stood leaning against a nearby tree behind them.

The first couple buttons of his white button up shirt were undone allowing her to see a delicate collarbone that slowly started to contrast with the very top of his muscled chest. Coupled with the shirt were a pair of pitch black slacks and black shoes. Adorning his left wrist was a flashing gold Armani watch. Sesshomaru. Kagome couldn't stop the overwhelmingly cheesy grin that began to spread across her face so instead she hide it using Sango who merely shook her head with a smirk.

"Get it together girl. This is your chance." Was all she said before she turned and took Miroku's hand who had just given Kagome a smile and wave, then walked off with him. Once they were out of sight Kagome's cheeks began to flare as she saw Sesshomaru moving closer.

'Relax Kagome. Get it together. Breathe.' She calmly told herself. She took a deep breath and the reddened hue subsided until it was nearly invisible. She stayed on the ground and leaned her back to the tree. In less than a minute she felt his shoulder brush hers and she held her breath.

"You realize I did not need nor did I ask for your help." He said monotonously. Kagome couldn't help but to roll her eyes. Even when he sounded like a jackass she still got a shiver down her spine when he spoke.

"Yeah, well you're welcome anyway." She muttered, her voice dropping lower with annoyance.

"Thank you." He said softly, after a moment of silence. Gathering her courage she turned her head to look at him with a raised eyebrow. "I do believe in not hitting a woman. However she was testing me beyond measure and you realized this and intervened. Otherwise it might have been a very bad situation for me." Kagome at this point had both eyebrows raised and her lips parted slightly. It was rare when she got to hear him speak this much. She shook her head and let out a deep sigh.

"I just…I don't get it Sesshomaru…" She finally looked him in the eyes. And in hers he saw genuine concern…hurt…fear…wonder…and something else he couldn't quite place.

"What don't you get Kagome?" His velvety tone asked. It was time to pull out the big guns.

"Why you're still with her." Kagome replied softly. Sesshomaru's eyes hardened for a moment…then slowly softened at the look she was giving him. No…Kagome was never like the other girls who tried to talk him out of being with Kikyo because they wanted him. She wasn't selfish…and he knew that. She was genuine…and it was written all over her face "I just…don't understand. She yells at you, she treats you like crap, she doesn't spend time with you…and I don't want to sound weird for knowing this but I mean she's my sister…I don't like seeing you unhappy. Especially when I know…" She trailed off, her heart beginning to pound hard in her chest. There was no turning back anymore.

"Know what?" She heard his voice, suddenly closer, suddenly softer, press. She felt her body get warm and her breathing shallowed. He was closer. She couldn't read his eyes instead she fell victim to them. She became intrenched in them as always and knew she couldn't lie…but she had to hold off…just one more moment…

"Know that you could get treated better." She breathed. Sesshomaru merely looked down into her eyes. He was half a foot away from her…he was so close it was painful. She just couldn't let him go. She sighed. "Sesshomaru this is going to sound crazy…but…can I kiss you?" She asked, her voice barely an audible whisper but no trouble for the ears of a demon. Sesshomaru raised a perfectly delicate eyebrow in surprise…but then lowered it. He didn't answer her. He wanted to see just how brave she really was. The Kagome he knew back then, that day he found her crying, was too shy to ever step up and grab what she wanted. He wanted to see how much she really changed. So with a shaking hand Kagome touched his cheek and moved to her knees, leaning over before for the first time…pressing her lips to the love of her life.

The sensation that bubbled inside of Kagome was odd. It was almost surreal, as if she wasn't sure if she had really kissed him, but when her lips molded against his it shattered any illusion that this wasn't real. Thousands of butterflies fluttered their intricate wings against the walls of her stomach, her whole body shaking with nerves as she pressed into him more, forgetting how to breathe. If she thought that was intense her world stopped when she felt the weight of Sesshomaru's lips mimicking hers, the feel of the solid muscle of his arm wrapping around her waist dragging her between his legs.

Her body warmed to the touch, but it was different. This wasn't the raging fire she felt with Bankostu no…this was what she had been waiting for. The slow, bubbling smoldering heat that comforted her, made her feel safe, made her forget the world around her, forget everything but the slow, tight lingering kiss. She couldn't think about anything but him, the way his silken hair felt in the creases of her fingers as their lips played affectionately but deeply with each other. She couldn't even place time as she felt his grip around her waist tighten. It was then she realized she had forgotten something…oh what was it? How to breathe…how to breathe…

Before Kagome knew it she was away from Sesshomaru, her legs were moving fast and she found herself on the opposite side of the school building before her legs which had turned quite to jelly gave out and she collapsed on the bright green grass, gasping and clutching her chest. She went back over her memories, her gasping before clumsily pulling away from Sesshomaru and stammering out an apology before running away like a crazed maniac. She groaned and placed her face in her hands as her heart continued to pound rapidly inside the cage of her chest.

She had been afraid to look at him…afraid of what she would find in his eyes but she didn't quite know what scared her so much. Rejection even though he had returned her kiss? It was rather she dared not hope that he held some ounce of feeling for her only to look and find those eyes just as stony as they were the first day she came to the school as the new her. Her lips throbbed with a warm reminder of what had just happened and she slowly reached up to touch them before closing her eyes and feeling a cooling breeze rush through her hair.

"Sesshomaru…"

4:15pm***

Inuyasha sat on the end of the couch, jaw practically scrapping the floor. Sango sat next to him in the middle, a sly and proud grin on her face and Miroku sat next to her with his own lopsided grin.

"You…you…and Sesshomaru…you did what?!" Inuyasha demanded causing Sango to groan.

"For the fifth time Inuyasha-"

"You kissed Sesshomaru?!" Inuyasha demanded again, cutting off Sango.

"And he kissed her back so it seems." Miroku chimed in. Sango nodded not losing the grin on her face. She hopped down onto the floor and tackled her sister from another mister.

"Oh Kagome I'm so proud of you!" Sango exclaimed happily. Kagome let out a shy smile as a blush crept to her cheeks.

"Even though I ran away like a fifth grader?" She questioned. Sango giggled and leaned her head against Kagomes.

"Yes. Even though you ran away like a fifth grader." She confirmed.

"Don't worry about it too much Kagome. It's probably a good thing." Miroku said, sitting up fully now that his arm wasn't resting around Sango's waist. Both girls looked to him. He shrugged. "Well guys think its cute when girls are shy ya know? Besides being as stoic as he is you made him question what he knew. You had the confidence to kiss him, but not to stay, which means he has no choice but to come to you now. If that makes sense at all." Sango nodded after a moment and Kagome followed suit, being able to see where he was coming from. Inuyasha let out a sigh.

"I mean…great I'm happy for you Kagome but…I'm worried about Kikyo…I mean, what about her?" He asked, his dog ears flattening on top of his head. Sango rolled her eyes.

"Asks the only fuckin person who gives a damn about Kikyo here." She snorted.

"Sango!" Kagome hissed before turning to look at the dejected half demon who had his eyes stubbornly averted from everyone. Kagome scooted over until she was sitting in front of Inuyasha who remained on the couch. She got on her knees and reached out, taking his hands in hers before smiling warmly.

"Exactly. What about her. That's where you come in Inuyasha. That's why you're here. Kikyo's going to be hurt when she finds out but guess what? Thats when you're going to be there, take care of her, give her the love she needs from you…she'll be more accepting of it. Besides I know you can't really stand to see your brother get treated like crap either." Kagome said softly. Inuyasha's ears perked up and he gave a half smile.

"Guess you're right Kagome…" He said thoughtfully before standing up as his cellphone went off. He glanced down at it. "Speak of the devil. Thanks for having me over Tadashi and Miroku I'll see you later. Bye Kagome." With that he answered his phone as he made his way to the door, only murmurs of his conversation audible to them. Sango huffed.

"That's why you're here Inuyasha to make Kikyo better." She mocked. "You actually give a shit Kagome?" Kagome scoffed, the warmth in her eyes disappearing.

"Hell no I don't give a shit about her. But I do give a few about Inuyasha. He's a good guy Sango. And he's been nothing but a good friend. If being with Kikyo will make him happy then I hope he gets what he wants." She responded evenly. Sango nodded, finally sighing in agreement with her friend. It was true, but sometimes Inuyasha's brashness and love for their enemy annoyed her. It was true he was a good friend, as they had discovered in numerous ways one of which being he kept the secret of Kagome's feelings for Sesshomaru when she confided in him about a week before her and Bankotsu broke up…she hadn't told him anything about the plan from what Sango understood, only her feelings and Inuyasha not just because of his own predicament, was supportive of her.

"Alright. So how long do you think it will take before Kikyo finds out about you and Sesshomaru?" Sango asked as she began to braid her long brown hair over her right shoulder. Kagome shrugged.

"Not sure…honestly I don't know if she even will if its not from Sesshomaru or me. It's not like there were a lot of people around…and maybe thats a good thing. It feels like the moment was more…private because of that." She said. Sango smiled at her.

"Then I'm glad." She replied. Miroku stayed silent as he watched the look the girls shared in that moment. It was like Kagome had truly accomplished something…he didn't even know she had feelings for Sesshomaru but the look in her eyes told him that she did. It also bewildered him that Inuyasha even talked as though he knew she had feelings for his brother and said that he was happy for her…then again maybe it was because of his own feelings for Kikyo. He had noticed that Kagome always seemed to look at Sesshomaru differently than any other male…but he surprised himself by not being able to detect her feelings.

Shaking his head Miroku used his fingers to massage away the complexity of the situation from his temples before deciding to let it go. Some one would tell him the full story eventually, but he was content to play clueless for awhile longer. Besides, even though he hadn't been told of her feelings, and even though it counted as cheating, as a friend he wanted Sesshomaru with some one that would treat him a lot better than Kikyo, and for that, he was happy…

7:42pm***

Sesshomaru sighed heavily as he slipped off the light brown suit jacket he wore and loosened his tie. He had barely kicked off his shoes before the brash sound of his brothers voice interrupted the only amount of peace he had had all day.

"Sesshomaru you big jackass what the hell were you thinking?!" He lifted his head as he watched his younger brother round the corner in his red spiderman boxers and a plain white T. Sesshomaru rolled his eyes and rubbed his temples as it was a hard sight to take seriously.

"Lower your insufferable voice half breed. What is your problem?" He growled in return, setting down his briefcase as he walked down the hall in front of him and took the first right turn into the large marble based kitchen. It had a shimmering hard wood surface, the countertops and island in the center where marble topped, neatly sporting varies shining kitchen appliances. He made his way over to the large refrigerator and opened it, searching for something to drink.

"My problem is that you kissed Kagome you jerk!" Inuyasha bellowed making Sesshomaru wince due to the intensity of the migraine he had begun suffering that morning. He pulled out a blue gatorade before closing the fridge.

"It was Kagome who kissed me." He replied evenly before twisting off the cap and leaning against the countertop of the island. It was Inuyasha's turn to roll his eyes.

"Yeah whatever. She told me the whole story Sesshomaru. Are you going to break up with Kikyo?" Inuyasha demanded. Sesshomaru watched his brother for a long moment as he drank from his gatorade. In all honesty he had put all thoughts of Kikyo aside once he left the school seeing as he had work to do. But Kagome…she had been on his mind. The tender way her fingers moved through his hair, the warmth of her lips the shy arch of her body under his touch…she had always captivated him with that shy, sweet, charming smile, those eyes that never lied…she always seemed to feel everything so intensely unlike her sister who felt nothing if it wasn't anger. At first he had found that attractive in Kikyo, her cold exterior. She wouldn't be needy and she was a woman that could equal his stoic personality…but he later learned that their relationship was more than he bargained for…but keeping Kikyo around was almost like a status symbol.

"He should." Came a rather strong indifferent voice. Both boys turned to look at the approaching figure. In walked a very tall man, his shoulders broad, arms wide with muscle concealed by a silver colored suit held together with a red tie at the top. His facial features were defined almost angelically with a prominate jawline, a hard face with warm, but distant and inquisitive bright golden eyes. He had silken silver hair that stopped at his shoulders, resembling that of his eldest son. His arms crossed as he moved no farther than the doorway and looked at the countertop of the island table between the two brothers as if he found something interesting there. "Besides, she is fraternizing with his brother."

"What?!" Both brothers demanded. Inuyasha's reply was one of disbelief and fear. Sesshomaru's was a growl. Sorem Taisho looked to his eldest son.

"I believe this has gone on long enough. I found myself wondering how you could not sense your girlfriends infidelity, Sesshomaru, but then I realized something. You are very much in tune with demons, however very far from intone with a Miko's deception. The Higurashi girl has been purifying your brothers aura and scent from her being when she is with him. In terms of Inuyasha, he simply fails to come home during the nights he has spent with Kikyo, so that by the time he hast to be in close contact with you, he has cleansed himself, most likely with a little of her help too. But have you ever wondered, in those times when you know they have spent time together, why you can never scent them on each other? You should expect their scents on one another if they hang out as friends, but instead, there is have yet to learn to pick up on Miko energy. You see my son, you scent and sense nothing, but it is the absence of these things that should be alarming to you. It is your senior year, and you are to graduate. I cannot let you continue to date a woman who will only continue to cheat on you with your own blood. It will look bad for your reputation. I do apologize."

Finally their father turned his attention to his younger son. "I am disappointed in you Inuyasha. And now, you are at your brothers mercy. I will not protect you." He said curtly, before glancing back at Sesshomaru and exiting the kitchen with the image of Sesshomaru's chest rising and falling in rage, his fangs bared, the symbols of his demon hood appearing on his cheeks and forehead and his eyes bleeding red as his claws extended. Sorem Taisho did not look back.

Two hours later Inuyasha lay unmoving, his blood staining the more than expensive cream carpet in their spacious living room. He was beaten badly, four of his ribs broken, both of his wrists snapped, blood leaking from his temple from when Sesshomaru flung him and his head hit the corner of their living room table. His eyes were almost swollen shut but still as he lay there bleeding his heart throbbed with a pain that he knew would not be healed by morning with his demon power like his body would. As he lay there, trying not to move in the slightest for fear of the searing pain he would encounter, the only person he thought about…was Kikyo.

10:56pm***

Kikyo jumped at the sound of banging on her front door. Cursing she flung off her comforter and jogged out of her room. She had gotten the text from Sesshomaru saying he was coming but she sure as hell wasn't expecting him to come sounding like he was going to break her door down. She silently thanked her mothers friends for taking her out for a girls night. She didn't even know women did that in their forties. She checked her hair in the downstairs mirror, fluffing it real quick before pinching her cheeks for some color. She almost wished Kagome was home so she could fuck Sesshomaru and make her sister feel like the house had freaking surround sound. The banging outside continued.

"I'm coming!" She yelled as she hustled out of the bathroom, fixing her black sheer bedroom robe. "And thankfully we don't have fucking neighbors." She muttered before unlocking the front door and swinging it open with a half smile.

"Even if you did have neighbors my actions would be no different woman." Sesshomaru's voice sounded dangerously low and her smile dropped instantly and instead formed an expression of disgust and horror as she witnessed the splatters of blood on his shirt, pants, and even face.

"What the hell did you do?!" She demanded. It occurred to Sesshomaru that she didn't bother asking if he was alright. Somewhere in his heart he felt tight. The truth of her not caring for him in the least became clear. His eyes narrowed into slits. Now Kikyo was scared. Something about Sesshomaru seemed like he wasn't about to take kindly to any bullshit she tried to hand him.

"Nearly beheaded your lover." Sesshomaru ground out through a very tightened jaw. Kikyo's face went blank for a minute before she decided to play dumb. She couldn't believe this was really happening. How had Sesshomaru found out? No…no he hadn't this was merely him speculating. Some one had given him doubt, likely Kagome, and he went and beat up some random dude. If that was the case this was going to be easy. She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion and worry.

"Sesshomaru…I don't know what you're talking about I…you're my lover…you're my bo-"

"I am nothing!" Sesshomaru bellowed, his voice making the very ground beneath her feet shake. She got a grip onto the doorframe before looking at him wide eyed. Sesshomaru stepped closer to her, the red of his anger seeping into his eyes and mingling with the molten gold there. "You have thrown away my trust, time and what limited compassion I have. You are lucky I do not kill you where you stand yet these damned laws prevent me from doing such. I assure you this is no joke. My own brother? You disgust me." He spat. Kikyo froze. It was true…and the blood on Sesshomaru's clothes…was Inuyasha's. Kikyo's heart throbbed painfully for a moment, causing her to gasp as she felt an unfamiliar hot liquid form at the base of her eyes and her throat began to swell. Shaking her head something within her snapped her back and she stood up straight before crossing her arms and looking at Sesshomaru with a smirk on her face.

"Well, well Sesshomaru. I'm surprised it took such a protegee like yourself so goddamn long to figure out I was screwing your brother. He also is just as disposable to me as anyone else, but I think its cute you thought I would be upset. Think ab-" Her next sentence was cut short by her own gasp as Sesshomaru grasped her small throat in his thick clawed hand and held it tight. Kikyo scratched at his hand, trying to pull it off in an attempt to breathe. Moving his face closer he pressed his cheek to hers.

"I did not say I wanted to hear you speak. You do not deserve the hanyou's love you ignorant, traitorous, and conniving woman." He tilted his head so his lips were right by her ear. "And if you speak to me again, I will make sure they will be the last words you speak." He ripped his hand from her throat and she gasped heavily, slidding down to the floor of the doorway. He turned his back to her, taking the first couple of steps down from the door before stopping. Tilting his head back Sesshomaru smirked at her, thinking of the one thing that if all else failed, would get to her.

"Also I just thought you ought to know Kikyo…your younger sister…is a much better kisser." Her gasping stopped immediately and before he turned away his smirk only widened with the growing rage twisting her face into a scowl.

"Kagome…" Kikyo hissed once Sesshomaru was out of her sight. "YOU LITTLE BITCH!"

11:17pm***

And it wont stop

Oh, oh, oooooooooooooooo

And it wont stop

Oh, oh, ooooooooooooo yeah

With every single part of me

My love for you is constantly

Forever and ever on repeat, on repeat

And it won't stop

Oh, oh, ooooooooo

The sound of 'It Won't Stop' by Sven Skeeter and Chris Brown roused Kagome from a light sleep her body getting butterflies as she recognized the ringtone she had only heard once before. When Sesshomaru had called her to find out Kikyo's whereabouts after she stood him up for a date. Running her fingers through her disheveled raven locks and flipping them back out of her face she reached for her phone, glancing at the time. Pressing the green button on it she lifted the phone to her ear. Silence greeted her and she drew in a deep shaky breath, her hands already shaking and she hadn't even heard his voice. It felt like some one had reached their hand through her chest and squeezed her heart in the palm of their hand and weren't letting go.

"S…Sesshomaru," She breathed.

"Kagome…" Was the deep baritone response she received. Sitting up she looked over at Sango who lay next to her, asleep in bed. Moonlight crept into the room creating still frame shadows that Kagome found herself oblivious to.

"Are you…alright?" Kagome asked gently. She couldn't disguise the worry in her voice…something had to be wrong for Sesshomaru of all people to be calling her in the first place much less after eleven at night.

"Your sister and I are over." He replied evenly. Kagome had closed her eyes listening to his voice, hear heart stopping as she heard those words she had waited almost two years to hear. She was silent for a moment before taking another deep breath.

"I'm sorry." She murmured. Had Kikyo found out about their kiss and blown up on him? No…there was no possible way Kikyo would break up with Sesshomaru. She knew Kagome wanted him too much. But it couldn't be true…had Sesshomaru broken up with her?

"Do not be. It occurred to me that probably even you knew of your sisters infidelity." He responded. Kagome's eyes widened. He had found out. How?! She knew Inuyasha wouldn't tell him and neither did her or Sango. How did he know? A pang or guilt sounded in her heart and once again she was quiet for a beat.

"I'm sorry…" She repeated. "I didn't…want to hide it from you but I thought-"

"You are a good girl Kagome. And whatever act you have put on has not fooled me. You are still the same person to me, you just are more expressive. Something I've grown to appreciate." Kagome could feel her cheeks beginning to heat up. She didn't know what to say. Tears brimmed in her eyes. What was this?

"Did you…want to talk about what happened?" She asked him, careful to hide the shaking of her voice. It then re-dawned on her that he was a demon, and would hear it anyway.

"No…but I figured if anyone should know…it should be you first. Given the incident in the schoolyard." He answered. Kagome felt a sinking feeling in her stomach with a pinch of anger.

"No, Seshsomaru I didn't want you to think I'm like Kikyo or those other girls." She said as evenly as she could.

"If I thought that I wouldn't have called you Ms. Higurashi." Sesshomaru replied smoothly. "You…care for me, don't you, Kagome?" This was it. Her moment of truth. She looked down at Sango again who was still sleeping. No one was there to give her the okay. No one was there to tell her if this was a bad idea. Kagome was on her own. She swallowed hard and leaned her head back on the wall with a long exhale. If there was one thing she did know…it was that she didn't want to lie to him. She wanted him to know everything about the way she felt for him…and there was only one way to do that. She slowly closed her eyes once more.

"Sesshomaru I…love you."
