CHAPTER 11

INCOMING STORM

Mami's POV

I sighed as I threw myself over the soft mattress. Home sweet home. No more rock-hard temple mats. Halfway towards blissful sleep, my phone started ringing. I groaned audibly. This call better be important. I received it without even seeing the caller id.

"Moshi Moshi" ( my voice came muffled for being pressed against the pillow.)

"Mami ? are you okay ? you're voice sounds weird."

"eh ? Akira-kun ? I'm okay." ( I jumped off my bed the moment I heard his voice.)

"oh. I'm glad to hear that. Well I called to ask you out on a date." ( I froze. Did I hear it right ? or was it my mind making things up.)

"so..sorry. ca..can you repeat ?" ( I stammered. Someone kill me.)

"wait. Wha..okay. That came out wrong. I didn't mean it that way. I have something to talk about and it can't wait. Can we meet today ?" ( of course he didn't mean it that way. how stupid am I ?)

"wha..oh sure."

"okay. Then we meet in front of the aquarium zoo at 3:00 P.M. can you be there ?"

"of course."

"see you there."

I literally screamed as soon as the call ended. I get it. It isn't exactly a date; he just wants to meet me. But, a date is a date no matter what's it for right ? I giggled to myself like a love struck my goodness. It's already 12 P.M. I have to get ready. I took a shower with a scented body wash. As I got dolled up in a white dress and twirled in front of the mirror, the door bell rang. I wonder who came at this hour.

The sooner did I open the door, I fell flat on my butt. Gaping at the figure standing in front of my door steps were none other than Hi-kun.

" How long is it going to take you to get over me ?" he said with a smug look on his face as he entered. I scrambled back on my feet while the heat spread right up to my ears. I watched him open and close the cupboards and the fridge in the kitchen. "Do you need something ?" my question meant more than the inspection of my kitchen. "Not really."

"Then why are you here ?"

"hmm. Is that how you welcome an old friend. Have you forgotten you're manners cry-baby ?"

"I need to go somewhere okay ? so I don't have the time to entertain Hi-kun. so if you need something tell me." He literally ignored what I said and stood so close to me that the air suddenly felt stuffy. His cold eyes locked with mine as he examined me under them. Out of the blue, he placed his palm on the back of my neck. I shivered under his touch as if it was electric. What was he doing? I was tongue-tied. My body braced itself for a blow but it never came. He let go as soon as it happened. Finally, when I found my voice a dying whale sound sent it down my throat. My very own body betrayed me and in front of someone who's going to tease about it till I break my neck and die. I was so embarrassed that I could I have died right there.

He gave an unreadable expression. He took my hand and dragged me out of the house. "Hey! What's the meaning of this?! And where did you get my keys?"

" It was hanging on the wall and we are going out to eat as there's nothing eatable inside the kitchen."

"wait. I can't go now! It's 2:15 P.M. I have an appointment at 3! For heaven's sake!"

" It can wait and if u keep protesting I'll carry you all the way. Do you want that?"

I shook my head sideways. "Good. Now follow me."

I finally get my dream date with Akira and look what happened. I hope I can get this over with before 3. Stars above! Why does it always have to be me?!
