The awkward silence continued through their trek towards the village, but it seems that Kagome is oblivious to this. "Hey, is she really serious about us coming along?" Tenten whispered to Lee.
"Why wouldn't she be?" Lee whispered back obviously confused. Tenten sighed with annoyance at their dense teammate. She turned and decided to ask their more mature teammate who has been quiet throughout the trip. "What do you think Neji?" she said in a sweet tone, but he just turned his head away since he didn't know what to answer and he doesn't want to know what the weird woman was thinking… Tenten huffed in annoyance and decided to just observe the adults ahead of them, their sensei was telling a tale about how he trained us and Kagome nods every ones in a while to show that she is listening but it seems that Kagome isn't very interested, well it was hard to tell since her face stayed frozen.
Kagome was looking at the hyper active man alongside her; he told multiple stories with such detail that it was surprising how he remembers it all. Still she was wondering when they were going to eat that fruit…
"Kagome-san, why'd you move to the village?" Tenten asked.
"Personal reasons…" and Kagome decided that the fence stated to look interesting.
"Okay…"
Kagome saw how the twin bun girl started to look down, oh great she was the bad guy again.
"I moved to Konoha because it looked interesting. I don't know what else to say to you so don't look so down you'll get wrinkles" Kagome joked.
"Eh! Really?!" Tenten looked at her shocked.
Kagome let out a deep chuckle, barely audible but Gai still heard it.
"You know, you should laugh more. It's… nice" Gai whispered to her.
"Hn…" she lost the reason to laugh long ago
"Hatake…" he said the name filled with venom
"Oh, Itachi-san what can I do for you?" Kakashi lifting his gaze from the oh so familiar orange book.
Itachi glared at him with all his might walking towards him. Kakashi leveled his glare with his eye just lazily observing him.
"Is it true that you used Kagome-san as bait to pretend she is your girlfriend?
Kakashi nodded. Well there was no use hiding it. "Yeah I did. Now I understand that-"
Kakashi was surprised at the sudden pull of someone lifting him up by his shirt. He was not surprised at the two swirling sharingans angrily glaring at his one lazy black eye. Though, admittedly it wasn't within his comfort zone for someone to be this close to his face.
"What were you thinking?!"
Kakashi pried the assailant's hands open to free himself. Once he had, he tugged at his vest
"Look…" kakashi looked at him calmly
"I know it was wrong and I AM going to apologize and of course I'll clear the misunderstanding with the fan club so don't think too much on it." Kakashi was little pissed off… okay a lot pissed off
"Stop acting like you're her boyfriend!" Kakashi didn't know why but seeing Itachi that protective over Kagome rubbed him the wrong way
"Look! I-" Itachi was about to retort but a certain blonde ninja decided to interrupt them
"sensei!" Naruto screamed while running to them. Itachi barely concealed the murderous intent towards the blonde
"What is it Naruto." Kakashi silently thanked him for interrupting their conversation
"ka 'huff' nee-chan is on a date"
"What?!" alarm clearly on both the males faces
"Where did you even hear about it?" Kakashi said in a calm tone though his emotions were far from it.
Naruto relayed to them how Kiba said it to him which Kiba heard from Tenten
"yeah and its with..."
Well you know the saying "speak of the devil and he shall appear" well this is the situation it most fits.
If you saw the look on Kakashi and Itachi's face you would have called it priceless, seeing as the woman they were arguing about is on a date with none other than Might Gai. Don't get them wrong Gai was a great ninja and friend but come ooon what woman with the right mind would go on a date that looks like that!
"Hey why don't we follow them?" Naruto whispered to the two males who still looked at the couple with disbelief.
The two males thought on how it was morally wrong to stalk a person and privacy is important. But then again they were ninjas for kami's sake stalking is what they do for a living. Itachi and Kakashi nodded with determination on their faces. Naruto rubbed his hands together in an evil manner as a foxy grin spread across his face.

Kagome continued to look at how the team interacts with each other. The image suddenly replaced by her old team. She looked at them with envy, she remembered how she used to have a team though they were all very different and they may fight a lot they knew in their hearts that they could always count on each other. Gai noticed how Kagome had a faraway look in her eyes.
"Hey Kagome, you still there?" Gai said, snapping his fingers effectively releasing Kagome from her self induced stupor.
"Yes. I'm fine" Kagome replied and looked at the road ahead.

The three men followed stealthily behind the group. Itachi seeing how Kagome interacted with the team felt happy that she seemed to be enjoying herself but a little jealous that he wasn't the one with her. Kakashi on the other hand looked at Kagome and felt like he was seeing her for the first time, though it doesn't show on her face, her eyes reflected a sort of contentment.
When they were little farther ways off Kakashi removed the board wallpaper on his person and Itachi followed suit.
"ehh your not going to follow nee-chan anymore?"
"No and besides were not her keeper." Itachi said while brushing off his clothes.
"And do you know the trouble we would be in if Kagome caught us" the three of them shuddered each imagining from a gruesome maiming to death due to fear…
"Ahh I knew it you were following us" Naruto nearly jumped out of his skin seeing that the person their tailing was suddenly behind him.
Naruto started backing up along with his stalking team (a/n: hehe my lil bro gave me that one)
"but why are you following me anyway? Surely you had better things to do?" avid curiosity was on her face. Meanwhile team Gai followed behind her looking at the odd happening.
"Ne, Kakashi-kun and Itachi-kun what are you doing here?" Gai said while grabbing both of them locking them under each of his arms.
"They were following us" Kagome plainly stated.
"HAHAHA you need not be jealous my comrades surely you will also find a woman as fine as Kagome-san and maybe then we can all have, what is it that youngsters say, a group date" He said so with much pride in his voice
'a group date? A group of dates? Yes it would be nice to eat fruit with everyone…' Kagome thought as the group continued horsing around. Kagome suddenly formed an idea.
"Ne, why don't we have a group date right now?" Kagome tilted her head.
"NANI?!" the people around her screamed, Kagome cringed at the sudden noise.
"Why are you reacting that badly to eating fruit?" Kagome said while rubbing her ears.
"F-fruit?" then everyone had a mental image of the "date" fruit
"Ne, Kagome-san you think that "date" is a fruit?" Tenten actually had the courage to ask.
"Well I'm pretty sure even though I have never eaten it"
"Well the date we were talking about is where two people get together and you know…" Tenten can't believe that she was explaining dating to an older woman. But sadly the only response she got was a blank stare from said older woman. Tenten continued to explain the concept of dating and Kagome absorbing the information from the youngster. And the men seeing this thought of only one word
'cute'
"Oh so dating is the modern term for courting?" finally Kagome came to a conclusion
"Un" Tenten said
"Ne, Kagome nee-chan have you never been on a date before?" Naruto scratched his head. Well her nee-san was so pretty it was impossible-
"No." was the response.
"Why?" Lee asked. (a/n: ughh I'm forgetting the other characters .)
"My parents were strict, more so than others" well it was true and she was too busy with missions in the past so she never bothered with her social life.
"Oh and Gai san sorry for the misunderstanding but I do not feel the same as you probably do."
"H-hai, yeah it's alright maybe next when-"
"You should give up on pursuing me." 'I am not worth your kindness… you are a good man so you should be with a woman without such a dark past' Kagome thought.
Gai fell on his hands and knees and a black aura started emanating from him. Everyone in the group felt sorry for the flat out rejection, Kagome can be really cruel sometimes.
"Well since it's already lunch time why don't we eat together as friends" Kakashi said as he tried to lift up his utterly dejected best friend, man is he heavy.
"Hai, so let's go" Itachi ushered the children and lead the way to a barbeque place.
Itachi fell behind the group and talked to Kakashi in hushed tones
"Hn, this isn't over. And besides Kagome will be mine"
"Heh, Kagome isn't property she belongs to herself" Kakashi was more than once reminded that Kagome preferred to be free and he wasn't about to change that…because that is one of the reasons why he found the woman interesting.
Kagome on the other hand was too distracted to hear the serious talk about her and the beginnings of a competition to win her affections. 'So there really isn't any fruit?' too bad she was really looking forward to it.
