Chapter 10
Sakura watched while Rin was working to heal the fish had. First Rin had been concerned and unsure that she would be able to do it but Sakura encouraged her, along with Minato and the boys. Sakura refused to let Rin give up. Sakura saw herself in the girl and she would be damned to let Rin go the same path as herself had. The war was reaching to its end which was about time and it also meant Sakura could finally relax and not worry about the kids. She hated that young shinobi like Rin, Obito and Kakashi was sent out on the battlefield, they were just children damn it, it wasn't fair even if they had make the choice themselves to become shinobi and serve the village, but it didn't help Sakura to worry about them.
The three had become like a family for her and Sakura refused to let anyone she hold dear to die, and some of her worry eased when Minato was with his student. Unknowingly to Minato and his student, Sakura had told the hokage to not send them on different missions, for their own sake and Sarutobi had surprised agreed with her and promised her to do his best to not send them on different mission, unless Sakura was available and were able to go with them.
Sakura had gotten a positon on the hospital and worked none stop, but Sakura was able to with help from Tsunade keep the hospital running smoothly. Sakura was grateful to her shishou, Tsunade kept her focused on the task and took away her worries. Even if Orochimaru was now dead it doesn't meant she could relax, there other people who threated the village and needed to be taken care of. Danzo was one of them. Sakura had a feeling Danzo were planning something, wherever she went, she either met or caught a glimpse of the old hawk and it couldn't be a coincidence.
Tsunade had also noticed this and had went to Sarutobi and told him about it. Sarutobi had promised them he would confront Danzo if he tried anything out of line but right now, there was nothing he could do. Sakura however had no patient with Danzo. Knowing what threat he was to the village Sakura wanted to confront him but Sarutobi had told her to stay away from Danzo so much as possible, but it doesn't meant she could ignore the ROOT shinobi who was spying on her, Sakura was no fool, she knew someone was spying on her and she could guess Danzo had send one of his own shinobi to get intel about her.
Sakura was determined to not letting him have none of that but she soon figured it was getting difficult to do so since she was spending time with Minato's team, Kushina and the others and of course Minato had noticed something was off.
Worrying Minato was the last thing she wanted right now.
Sakura finished the rapport and put in the folder and put it on the desk and got up. She was about to end for the day and go home. She needed to rest, she have been busy since the morning.
Leaving her office Sakura headed out from the hospital. She really didn't had the urge to get home fast, since Minato and his student was on a mission and of course she had been unable to go with them since many shinobi who got to the hospital and the staff had called in both Sakura and Tsunade.
Sakura walked around the village before heading home. Minato and his students had left two days ago so they were due to come back tonight.
Sakura brought some food on her way back home. She needed to get something to eat.
Arriving to the apartment, Sakura unlocked the door and went in, unaware of the shadow following her. Putting the food on the desk, Sakura put the food where is where be when a sound was heard from the living room. Sakura stopped what she was doing and listen after the sound and she heard it again.
"What is that?" Sakura muttered and walked into the living room. She needed to figure what the sound was coming from only sensing she wasn't alone in the apartment.
Tensing, Sakura reached for a kunai from her holster. "Who is there?" she asked out loud, but got no answer. Frowning, Sakura let her eyes wander around the room. Suddenly she felt a presence behind her. Turning around only to get knocked out.
The last thing Sakura saw was a ROOT member standing there his fist raised.
Sakura was bolted awake by getting cold water thrown over her face. Coughing, Sakura blinked trying to get used to the darkness in the room, she saw nothing in the room.
"Where the hell are this?" Sakura spook in a horsed voice.
She had expected someone to answer her but none did. Sakura frowned but narrowed her eyes.
"This couldn't get any worse. I don't know where I am or who is behind this…or second thoughts I might know that. Wouldn't be surprised if Danzo is behind this, if he is he'll pay, I will kill him slowly."
Sakura heard someone move slightly, Sakura narrowed her eyes.
"You have information our leader wants" a cold voice started talk, startled her.
"Like hell, if your leader wanted the information, he should be here and not hiding behind his minions" Sakura remarked, only to get hit by a hand, hard in her face, making her face fly to the side.
Sakura turning her face back slowly, her cheek red by the hit, she just glared at the mystery shinobi who had hit her.
"Don't you dare to insult him, you're in no position to come with such remarks."
Sakura was about to open her mouth to answer the bastard, a door opened and someone come in to the room. The shinobi turned around.
"I have wake her up, Danzo-sama" the mystery shinobi said. Sakura gritted her teeth. Of course it was Danzo who was behind her kidnapping, oh how badly she wished she could get free and kill the bastard, however the ROOT have been smart and drained almost all of her chakra, only letting her have some chakra to keep her awake.
"I see, then let's get started then." Danzo turned on a lamp which made Sakura see who was in the room with her and Sakura could take a look on how they had restrained her. The rope was no ordinary rope. It was chakra draining rope, taking chakra from her and making her unable to use any jutsu to get away. Her arms were pinned to the wall stretched out from her body, her feet was tied to a chain which held her firmly against the wall, and the chain was around her waist as well. She had no chance to escape.
"Danzo, bastard what the hell do you want?" Sakura spitted out, glaring at the hawk, but he wasn't effected.
"I want the information about the future"
Sakura smirked "Like hell I will tell you, you're the last one who I will ever tell about the future"
"I see, then we must do this the hard way. Let's started"
"Hai Danzo-sama"
Sakura braced herself for anything, knowing Danzo he would go any length to get what he wants.
Tsunade was in the hospital when Kushina and Tsume came in running like crazy.
"What's the matter with you two?" Tsunade asked, she was tired and wanted nothing more than go and take a drink.
"Tsunade-sama, are Sakura still in the hospital?" Kushina asked sounded worried. Frowning Tsunade shake her head.
"No, she left for couple of hours ago heading home why asking?" Tsunade asked.
Kushina bite on her lips.
"We were at her apartment and it looked something had happen there and we can't find Sakura anywhere, Tsume have tried to track her but failed and she also found an unknown scent in her apartment" Kushina exclaimed.
Tsunade put down the paper on the desk, looking up worry on her face.
"Let's go to the hokage, Sarutobi-sensei would likely wants to know about this." Tsunade said and started to head towards the exit, her worry for her future student overcoming her. Something had happened to Sakura and now she was gone. Tsunade didn't like this, she could think of some people who wanted get rid of Sakura and she didn't like it.
They women hurried to the hokage tower to take a talk with the hokage.
'I swear if something have happened to her, I'll make the person who is behind this will suffer greatly.'
Sarutobi had not a good day. All the paperwork was killing him, it was never ending like a long and terrifying nightmare.
Suddenly the door was thrown up and in came Tsunade, Kushina and Tsume barging, or rather Tsunade came barging in, and the other two followed the female sannin.
"What's the matter Tsunade?" Sarutobi asked tiredly, he had no energy to have a discussion with her today.
"Sakura is missing Sarutobi, Tsume found an unknown scent in her apartment and it looked like Sakura hadn't been alone in the apartment."
Sarutobi sat up straighter, tensing.
"We have searched everywhere in the village hokage-sama we can't find her" Tsume said seriously. Sarutobi frowned. The matter was serious, if Tsume one of the Konoha's best tracker couldn't find Sakura in the village something had happened to the medic.
"I see, Tsume I want you to gather Uchiha Fugaku, Mikoto, Shikaku, Inouchi and Chouza and the Hyuuga twins. I want you to split up and try to find a trace within in the village" Both Kushina and Tsume left the office leaving Tsunade and Sarutobi in the room.
"You think someone in the village is behind this?" Tsunade asked frowning.
"I can think one certain person who could be behind this" Sarutobi said gravely.
"Danzo? Would he really do something like this?"
"If it could help him to gain more power, he wouldn't hesitate."
Tsunade sighed
"Do you want me to send a message to Minato and inform him?" Tsunade asked. Sarutobi shake his head.
"They will back soon, if you see them, tell them to get here quick as possible" Tsunade nodded and left the hokage alone.
"Where are you Sakura? I just hope we find you quick as possible." Sarutobi whispered. He was concerned, he was aware of how Danzo got information he wanted from people he saw as a threat to him.
He just hoped Sakura wouldn't break
Sakura spitted out some blood. She had the blood taste in her mouth but she refused to let the bastard win. Danzo wouldn't get to her. She would endure no matter what. She was certain people was looking for her right now. Sakura knew Kushina and Tsume would come over to her apartment and hoped them looking for her, and till then, she would not give up.
"Sir, she haven't said a word since we have begun the torture." Sakura smirked hearing Danzo hiss in annoyance.
"What's the matter Danzo? Did you really think you would get me to talk so easy?" Sakura mocked him.
"You'll talk, Blackbird go and get me 'that' person"
"Hai"
the shinobi left the room but soon coming back with another shinobi.
"You know what to do, keep torturing her till she speaks" Danzo left the room.
Sakura glared at the shinobi. She wouldn't give in. she refused, there were too many things on stake for her to give up now.
The torture begin once more.
Sakura felt a hand touch her shoulder and then an electric shock went through her. It seems they decided to take the torture to the next level.
Meanwhile
Team Minato had just come to the village gate when Fugaku and Mikoto meet them and told them to follow to the hokage tower, the hokage needed them it was an emergency.
"What's going on?" Minato asked, worriedly. Mikoto and Fugaku looked nervous and didn't want to tell him.
"I am glad you're back, unfortunately, there is an emergency." Sarutobi said, knowing the four of them will react badly to what he was about to tell them.
"It seems Sakura have been kidnapped." Sarutobi said waiting for the reactions.
"WHAT?!" Obito, Rin and Kakashi exclaimed, Minato was quiet, shocked to hear what happened.
"Are you sure of this hokage-sama?" Minato asked in a calm too calm voice.
"It's been confirmed, an unknown scent had been found in Sakura's apartment, someone were there waiting for Sakura to come home and get her. Tsume wasn't however not able to find her anywhere, but it doesn't mean that she is not in the village."
"What do you mean?" Minato asked.
"Danzo have been too interested in Sakura, and knowing him, he would go any length to get what he wants and I am fearing that he wants information from Sakura."
"He knows about Sakura's situation?" Minato asked.
"There is a high chance he have found out about it."
Minato clenched his fist and tried to hold back his angry. If Danzo were truly behind this, Minato would make sure Danzo would pay with his life.
"Hokage-sama, I might be able to get wherever Sakura is. I marked her with my seal. She have it on her shoulder, I should be able to get to her using the hirashin." Minato said.
"You can't go there alone Minato, you would go there without knowing who is with her right now. It's too dangerous."
Minato shake his head.
"I can take at least two with me with no trouble. Jiraiya-sensei can go with me, and Tsunade." Minato said determined to get his will through. He can't believe this had happened and it happened when he was out of the village. Danzo must have planned that, he must know Sakura was spending her free time with him and his students.
Danzo is a dead man.
Sarutobi was about to speak when Kushina and Tsume busted through the door.
"Sorry hokage-sama but we found a secret base underground. We think it belongs to the ROOT" Tsume said. Just then Jiraiya and Tsunade come in as well.
"Sensei I got the news and got here fast as I could" Minato looked over to Jiraiya.
"Good, Tsunade, Jiraiya you'll go with Minato. Sakura have his seal, so he should be able to get to her but it too dangerous for him to go alone. I am sending back up right away. "
Minato put up his arms, letting both Jiraiya and Tsunade grab to hold onto him. With a nod as confirm from Sarutobi they left the office.
"We can help!" Obito said sounding serious. Both Kakashi and Rin nodded
"I happy to hear you're willing to help…"
"Willing?! Forgive me now hokage-sama, but Sakura is part of our team, she is our comrade, she is important to us and especially to Minato-sensei! If something happen or she get killed, I don't think we will be able to pull us through. Sakura have helped us so many times before, it's because of her, our bonds are stronger, because of her, we are a team, and a family. We won't stand by and do nothing to help her. She have helped us, this time we're going to help her!" Obito exclaimed. Kakashi and Rin were a bit shocked to hearing those words from Obito but they agreed with him, every word was true.
"Please hokage-sama, let's us help. Obito is right, we can't stand by and just watch someone important to us are in danger, we can fight if needed, it doesn't matter if those ROOT are stronger but unlike those brainwashed we know what's the most important and its teamwork!" Kakashi exclaimed.
Sarutobi was shocked to hear those words from the children. It seems Sakura had done so much more than she and he had first thought. She had effected them in a positive way, especially Kakashi. Kakashi cared for his teammate now and worked with them as a team.
"All right" Sarutobi turned to Tsume and Kushina. "Go with them and meet up with the others, you'll be the backup for Minato, Jiraiya and Tsunade.
"Hai!" they left quickly the room.
Sarutobi smiled
"You really have influenced them Sakura more than you think" he said.
He was hoping everything would be all right and they found Sakura.
Sakura feel so dull of the pain, she had no feeling in her arms or legs but at the same time she were hurting all over. They wasn't merciful against her. They went out all the way with the torture.
She knew she was bleeding all over, she was freezing and bloody. The water had been ice cold.
But she would not break no matter what.
Coughing up even more blood, Sakura throw another glare at the two shinobi who had the honour to torture her.
"Have enough or do you want more?" one of the them asked.
"Go to hell" Sakura said.
"Very well"
Just as the shinobi was to raise the kunai, Sakura closed her eyes, preparing herself but the only thing she heard was a crash and people moving.
Sakura opened her eyes and she saw Tsunade standing in front of her.
"Shishou?" Sakura asked in low tone.
Tsunade brook the chain and the rope and caught Sakura before she fell down to the ground.
"It's all right Sakura you're safe now"
Sakura coughed a bit, blood running down from her lips.
"What's going on?" she asked. She heard people screaming and fighting outside of the room.
"Don't talk, you need save your strength. I'll heal you so don't talk just relax I will take care of you"
Sakura shake her head
"How did you get here?"
Tsunade shake her head
"Later Sakura" Sakura sighed and closed her eyes, she was safe. Tsunade was with her. None would hurt her now. Tsunade would make sure of that.
The last thing she heard before falling unconscious, was Tsunade humming a lullaby for her.
The ROOT member fall down to the ground in front of Minato. He and Jiraiya had taken down the two shinobi who were torturing Sakura. He turned to Jiraiya and saw him just knocked out the shinobi. They could hear more people coming towards the room they were at. Opening the door Minato took a look. He saw a lot of ROOT member but they were fighting against the back up the hokage had sent. Minato frowning, Danzo were nowhere to be seen. It seems he had disappeared.
Minato walked back to Tsunade, he had not dared to glance the shape Sakura was in, however having Tsunade working on her, made Sakura look a bit better except of all the blood she was covered in.
Tsunade glanced up.
"She will be all right Minato, am I working on the worst injure she has but she will survive even with the loss of all the blood."
Minato nodded
"Is safe to move her then?" Tsunade didn't answered him for a moment but she looked up at him and nodded.
"She is stable, can you take us to the hospital?" Minato nodded. Carefully Tsunade lifted Sakura in her arms and Minato wrapped one of his arm around her arm and in a second they were gone from the dark room and landed in the hospital at the reception. The nurse who was there was startled but seeing Sakura covered in blood in Tsunade's arms. She called someone to get a bed. Another nurse come with the bed, letting Tsunade put Sakura down on the bed and Tsunade started to bark out orders to the nurses. Tsunade turned to Minato.
"She will be fine Minato. Don't worry, you should go back and help the others and find Danzo."
Minato shook his head, he didn't want to leave Sakura, not after this. Tsunade seeing he was about to protest sighed and gave in. she should have known Minato wouldn't leave Sakura now.
"Fine stay here, I'll come and get you when we have healed all her wounds and you can go and see her.
Minato nodded, smiling a grateful smile to the slug princess.
"Thank you Tsunade-sama"
Tsunade smiled and nodded and left him to make sure Sakura would be all right
