Redleaf's POV
"REDLEAF!"
I woke up to the sound of my name, seeing nothing but white. I couldn't hear anything so perhaps I may have just imagined the scream that woke me. I tried to look into the white yet, it was endless, leaving me clueless in where I was. I moved my arms and legs, looking at them for any scratches or injuries. They were deathly pale but completely normal otherwise. After a split second, I noticed there seemed to be white collecting onto my arms and legs, increasing rapidly on my right.
Under very close inspection, I saw that it was snow. Assuming that the whiteness was just a blizzard, I quickly realized that the snow wasn't cold, ironically, it burned, a lot. Painfully I stood up, arms wrapping around my sides for comfort. My feet were numb so I just stood there, shivering manically.
I opened my mouth to shout something out; nothing came out. Feeling the energy drain from me, all hope was lost.
I was alone.
"Snowflake! What happened?" The trio cried as they barged into the room. Only this time, they were met with an empty room. It was drastically colder than it was before and there was a blast of ice spattered on one of the walls. Other than those clues, they were completely helpless on where their friends were.
"Oh no..."
Snowflake woke up to darkness once again. Feeling dread course through her body, she made an attempt to move, not wanting to let history repeat itself. Though this time, she could move with ease and it wasn't cold. Looking around her, all she saw was eternal darkness. Somehow she was drawn to the darkness, feeling herself walking aimlessly, suddenly turning in a different direction every few seconds.
Time had no effect here, so Snowflake felt no hurry to get somewhere. Suddenly she stopped in a clearing. Her vision had changed; there was a greyish-blue tinge at the edge and warmth had flooded the place. Closing her eyes, she imagined herself back in the pixie hollow tree...
"What should we do?!" shrieked Fairy Mary. They were frantically looking around for any clues that could help them. So far they had found nothing other than the splatter of ice on the wall and that didn't help them very much. Glancing back at the queen, fairy mary couldn't help feel frustrated. Instead of helping them look for clues, the queen stood there frozen, with a shell shocked look on her face.
"Queen Clarion?" Snapping her fingers in front of the queen's face seemed to help.
"I know what to do." Queen Clarion spoke suddenly.
Turning herself into 3 balls of light, she flew all the way to Milori, summoning him and his owl over to inspect the ice. First thing he noticed was the immense amount of magic presence in the room.
"The magic levels here... its abnormal. The ice gives most of it away though; Snowflake wouldn't have been the one who caused this." Milori concluded.
"Why's that?" Summer countered.
"Well for a first, shes a snowflake talent and she wasn't as good as controlling her frost powers. Second, according to what you have told me, unless she started freezing this wall since she was in this room, she wouldn't have been able to freeze so much of the wall at once."
"So what do you think happened?"
Taking a deep breath to steady himself, Milori replied bluntly,
"Blizzard."
Redleaf
I walked on, my eyes squinting in the white, trying to see where I was headed. It was impossible, the blizzard was overpowering me with every moment and the snow on my skin burned. Strangely this was magical snow, something illogical to anybodies mind if they didn't believe in magic. I was growing weak by the moment, my feet feeling like lead as I trudged through.
I thought of all the happy moments, only to recall none. I felt as if my memories couldn't pass through the thick snow, leaving me unable to think of anything. None of my memories came to the surface but the only thing I could remember was my name.
Where did I come from? Why am I here?
Those questions were unanswerable so I didn't think about them, opting to figure my way out of this before I collapse of pain and exhaustion. Suddenly the snow turned to hail, causing my exposed skin to bleed, staining the fallen snow red. A particularly large one hit my head and I fell over, sprawled on the ground, everything white now turning to black...
"Blizzard."
Everyone was silent, letting the conclusion of events be comprehended by their minds. Queen Clarion ordered a pair of guards to check the dungeons, just to check if he was still there. The other two fairies acting like Clarion earlier, frozen and shell shocked.
"What do we do now?" Mary cried
"We can't plan anything unless we find clues..." Clarion replied.
They waited and waited for the guards to return, only to find that they were wasting their precious time in waiting and went down there themselves.
Bad idea.
When they reached the bottom, an explosion ensued, bowling them all over. As the dust cleared, all that was left of the dungeon was fallen debris. Their eyes widened in shock, quickly helping the guard fairies up.
"My queen! We have a victim." One of the guards shouted.
It was Leif, fallen on the floor and groaning in pain. He was clutching his head, trying to regain his vision. They helped him up, notifying the queen what had happened.
"Your majesty, behind my back he summoned up two balls of light, sending one somewhere in the depths of the tree. This light we did not notice at first but just before he set off the second ball of light, he caused me and my partner to writhe in pain."
"How?"
"It felt like agony was coursing through my veins, tearing through every reason why I should exist here."
"Please continue."
"My screams reached the ears of the other guards that were coming down and when you all came down, he set off the second ball of light. While it flashed, he slipped this into my hands."
It was a piece of paper, tinted blue with dozens of snowflakes. Giving it to the Lord of Winter, he read it out loud, causing the rest of the fairies to grow pale for the second time today.
10th chapter :) Hopefully this uploads fast enough so that it still says it was uploaded on sunday. The story is finally reaching the climax but there will be plenty of chapters before the final conclusion.
