Disclaimer: I OWN NOTHING

I like how you guys want Kouga with Kags ;) I changed the title and tweaked the summary a bit

Anyway,

Enjoy!

Buzzz.

Buzzz.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Kagome," Kouga coughed as a grin touched his lips. "Um, Miroku gave me your number. I was just wondering if you had questions about the date this Friday." Kami did he really say that?

"Uh," He heard her giggle on the other line. Aw, nervous is she? "N-No, I don't." She laughed, "Maybe what are we going to be doing? So I know what I should wear."

"I'm taking you out to this classy restaurant downtown," He smirked, a bit forcibly. That wench will pay for making me do this to poor Kagome. "It's extremely hard to attain reservations at that place, but just for you, I was able to persuade them. So it'll be bad to disappoint them, y'know? So just dress to impress."

...

There's another giggle. Damn...he must have a great effect on her. "Alright Kags," He sniffed, hearing a knock on his door. "I have to go. I'll see ya Friday at 8," he smirked. "Bye babe."

"Uh, yeah, bye."

He sighed once letting go of the button, rubbing the back of his head. He should be thinking rationally on this. To go this far for...He let out a groan. He felt like a piece of shit for doing this. He should've argued harder with that woman, should've made her see reason with this decision. Hell, he should have never answered that damn Houshi's call. That man was supposed to handle it on his own, now look of him. He's spent too much time with them that he's just like them.

This could end to be horrible. But...He smirked as he passed by a familiar red-head, readjusting his crisp, white coat as he strut down the hall. He sees why this is such a huge predicament. This...this was contagious. It started off with one, then two, then Kikyo, Sango, and now Miroku.

Kouga let out a huff as he ran a hand through his hair, deep turquoise eyes not knowing what to do. "I can only keep things as they are now," he sighed as he dropped his hand, clenching his fingers together. For reassurance, he rummaged through his white coat pocket and fished out a small bottle of pills. He set his face as he walked over to a water jug, taking a paper cup from the top and filling it with the liquid. This is horrible, but, it comes with the job.

He won't lose.

He can't.

What. The. Actual. Fuck.

"Was I high when I last talked to him? When did he get this...this...arrogant?" Kagome rasped after she hung up on the man. "Honestly! 'It'll be bad to disappoint them, so just dress to impress', urgh!"

Sango shook her head as she let out a sigh. This was the exact reason as to why she never liked Kouga back in college. "I guess he's still crude in his choice of words," She stated as she continued looking through the multi-labelled bags she and Kagome got from shopping. Is Kouga really a better choice than Inuyasha at this point? She thought sadly as she emptied out a bag of clothes, ripping the tags off the clothing.

With an irate exhale, cobalt eyes flickered towards her cell once more as she scrolled through her contacts. If there was one person she knew could give her the dirt with Kouga, it would be the person that hated him the most. And she didn't need to be a scientist to know who hates him. Tapping his name, she decided to send him a text instead. "Hey, wanna meet up and grab a bite?" Nodding her head, she pressed send as she propped herself up, grabbing her own bags and pulling the tags off a pair of high-waisted challis shorts and a cream-colored halter top.

Sango arched a brow at her friend as she watched her change into said clothing. "Where are you going?"

"I got a text from a few friends. I think it was Eri, Yuka, and Ayumi, right?" If she said she was meeting up with Inuyasha only Kami would know how overdramatic her best friend would react. Thankfully, she was able remember those three girls on her own. High school, that's as far as her memory was able to get so far.

"Oh, be careful," Chocolate-colored orbs swam with mirth as an amused smile touched her lips. "Those three are a handful. Be prepared for a bombard of questions and gossip no one cares about. Oh, and questions about your love life," She chuckled, "Rather, lack of one." She laughed when the ravenette threw a bag at her face, later flipping her the middle finger.

"I'll be gone for a bit, Sangs. So go ahead and let Miroku come back but I want you guys done by the time I'm back!" An aghast look crossed the brunette as Kags winked at her, collecting her purse and phone as she made her way out. She loves Sango, to the bottom of her heart, but that girl needs to trust her a bit more and stop acting like a mom. Geesh, she could get sisterly-love from Kikyo any day.

She felt her phone buzz in her pocket, signalling she received a message.

"Sure I'm game. Wacdonalds kewl?"

She laughed. Oh Kami, text language was so overrated.

"Yup, Wacdonalds is 'kewl' :P"

She waved a taxi over and told him her destination, smiling in amusement when she felt another message buzz.

"Wut? I ain't gonna txt full words. Dere's a reason txt lang. was made."

"Oh Kami I'm gonna need to buy you a dictionary. Are you sure you passed Shikon Uni.?"

"Ha. ha. ha. Ur funny. T.T"

She giggled as she quickly typed in her reply. "Aww did i make Inu sad?"

"-.-"

"Forgivsies? :3"

"I need a reason 1st wench."

"I take back my apology."

"Then I btr go bak home..."

"Grr fine, sorry 0:)"

"Idk. U hurt me prty bad."

"Don't be such a puppy :P"

"Pft. I am one ;) I see ur cab, hurry up n pay the man."

She felt the cab jerk to a stop and she looked up, the cab driver looking back at her as he jerked a thumb at the fast food restaurant. She gave him an embarrassed smile and gave him a 20, collecting her change shortly and stepping out of the vehicle. Oh Kami, she was thankful for her summer-y outfit. She squinted her eyes as she searched around the joint, her lightening-blue searching for familiar honey-brown. A beam radiated off her face when she saw a mass of white approach her, a trademark smirk on his lips.

"Yash!" She called as she walked towards the man, hugging him when she was close enough. "Thanks for coming out." She couldn't help but blush slightly when his arms snaked around her waist, pulling her body closer to his as he continued to gaze down at her. His arms were quite built and the rough texture felt nice...- Woah. What was that?

"No problem," he sniffed, not removing his hold on her. "I was bored with Miroku anyway," That wasn't exactly a lie. He frowned a bit when he felt her push slightly at his chest, signalling to him that the hug went long enough. It's been too long since he's had Kagome in his arms, and it felt pretty damn great.

Relunctantly releasing her, he cleared his throat as he nudged his head towards the entrance. "Shall we dine like kings this lovely afternoon?" He exclaimed with a haughty voice as he dramatically bowed at her. He relished in her jovial laugh as she looped her slim around around his. Kami does he love this woman.

"Dine, we shall, King Yash," She winked as she pulled them both to the glass doors.

Needless to say, it was an eventful lunch. He ordered himself three cheeseburgers, a milkshake, and a large fries, while she ordered a hamburger with a small fries and drink. She could just steal some food off him anyway. She liked this familiarity she had with him it sent tingles up her spine.

"So what did you call for, K-Kags?" He cleared his throat, faking to choke on his fry. In truth, he was adjusting to being able to call her that nickname again.

"Well," She started, sipping her drink, "I wanted to ask you for some advice," she looked him in his eyes, she seemed to freeze for moment when she met with his golden orbs once again. She never took her time to appreciate the mystical eyes. They held so much mystery, it was absolutely captivating. Such bright colors woven with such dark tales. She furrowed her eyebrows at that acknowledgement. It seemed...guarded. Not from the her...but from the inside...It was causing her head to hurt again.

"Sure, on what?"

She snapped back to reality at the sound of his voice, the husky voice laced with amusement at her obvious appeal. She blushed. "Just like, a question." She coughed, trying to save face. "It's about Kouga." She didn't notice how he crunched his burger more harshly than he should. "I wanna know how he was like in Shikon," She gave a small half-smile. "Was he always such a...such a-"

She expected his usual "mangy wolf" but was rather surprised when he grunted.

"Yeah, he was always over-confident."

She blinked. She was hoping for a bit of Kouga bashing for a second. "I would say cocky or arrogant is the correct word." She pushed. Since when was he like this?

"...Why are you asking about him anyway," he speculated as he downed his milkshake. "Gonna have a date with him or something?" He saw her eyes widen as he felt his heart clench while his head began to ring. Guess part of him hoped that that was a lie. Keh, he didn't even know what was the truth anymore.

"Uh, yeah, but how did you know?" She never told him. He was always careful with her, caring, she assumed he had feelings for her by how he would carelessly flirt with her. She felt guilt swell in her heart as she slightly frowned at his stoic expression. She didn't like this at all. He wouldn't even make eye contact with her anymore.

"Oh i heard it from Roku," he whispered, trying to make his voice levelled. Anger was swelling in his being as he tried to calm himself. He didn't want to look at her, he didn't want her to see the pain in his eyes. But he would deserve it right, right? She would see how...how horrible he was. "So you're really gonna go on a date with him," he laughed bitterly. "How come I was the last one to find out about this? Was I that little of concern? I was not important enough to be apart of your life?" He felt his breathing quicken. He was doing it again. He was losing control.

"N-No," Kagome stuttered as she looked at him bewilderedly. "It's not like I wasn't going to tell you, I'm telling you right now after all-"

"But I wasn't the first one you wanted to tell," He interrupted, "I was the farthest from first. Was, was I that horrible that you don't want to talk to me?" He narrowed his eyes.

"Where is this coming from-"

He lifted his gaze to hers, causing her to gasp. She felt her fingers begin to quake when his beautiful ambers turned to a predatory red. As frightening as the sight was, she couldn't help but notice how the invisible bars in his eyes...seemed to have disappeared. As if he's revealed himself. Rather, revealed what he was hiding.

"Are you okay?"

No. He bit his lip as an awkward silence settled between them, neither feeling the hunger for their food. He doesn't want her to see that he was a monster again. He had no idea as to how he'll react again. He's...he's scared he'll hurt her. Again.

"Let's get out of here," He muttered as he stood up, offering a hand to help her from her seat. She took it with no word. He felt her being radiate with...fear. He whimpered. He didn't know what to say, what could he say? Fearing that his words would only drive her farther away, he lead her to his car, opening the passenger's door for her before settling himself into the drivers. He didn't know where they were going, but seeing that she wasn't making any suggestions, he just moved down the road.

He's the worst.

He couldn't control himself.

Flashback

"Control it, Inuyasha." Takahashi Taisho growled softly as he stood in front of his 12-year-old son, his arms crossed as he watched the young boy grip his hair as screams tore out of his throat.

"Dad," Young Inuyasha cried as he felt his blood boil, the heat unbearable. It felt as if his eyes were on fire as they switched from a fiery red to a distraught amber. "Who is this? Who is this voice? Why is it telling me such awful things?!" Tears filled the child's eyes, fear enveloping his trembling being. "I don't like him, Dad," he whimpered as a slow smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, his eyes narrowing. "He's telling me to do bad things." His words were slurred as waterfalls seemed to pour from his face. "Things that would make Okaa-san cry."

Takahashi took in a deep breath. "Inuyasha...that is your demon inside you," he started gently. He had no idea how this child would react anymore. "He's apart of you. He's been with you for a long time now," He paused as he saw the information register in the youth's eyes. "You need to get ahold of yourself...don't let it get to you." He kept a stern face as he saw his son's face dissolve in anguish, questions flying in his head.

It was only natural, after all. The pre-teen hasn't been exposed to his demon's wrath as often as a full-demon would be. And he's half-human, making it all the more difficult to control. This was a reason as to why hanyous were discouraged. Narrow-minded individuals would think it was racism, keh, if they only knew. The horrors a half-breed child has to face are, what is recognised, as demonic."If you let it in, it will control you because you are weak."

Young Inuyasha held still.

"Don't be weak, Inuyasha."

End Flashback

Inuyasha heaved in deep breaths as he cast his face aside, his eyes began to ache again, his breathing becoming shaky and it was becoming harder to inhale. His head was pounding. He was scared. He was so fucking scared. He didn't like this voice invading his head again. He didn't like how it was whispering such dark...frightening things- He didn't like how bad he liked them.

'C'mon Inuyasha, you love Kagome don't you?' It gave a feral grin. 'Just close your eyes and let an old friend handle it...'

'No,' he mentally chocked, clenching his fists tight, 'I won't let you out. I can handle this myself; handle you.' Sharp inhale. 'I won't let you control me. I'm strong.'

'You're weak.' It hissed, chuckling darkly. 'You've succumbed to your self-desires, without my word may I add, as well have you convinced everyone around you, friends, family...that you're a monster.'

'Without your word? Every bad thought, every mistake I've made was all because of you. Not once has my 'human' side been the cause to my downfall.' He, inwardly, laughed humourlessly, shaking his head. 'No, it was you. I'm a monster because of my demon.'

'You're weak because you can't handle it.'

Confusion swept through his vision. 'Handle what?'

No answer.

His heart began to race as worry etched across his face. "Handle what?!" He didn't realize he cried aloud.

"Inuyasha?"

He felt his ears swivel atop of his head as he whipped his head back, eyes widening a fraction. "K-Kagome?" Why was she here? Why didn't she run off scared? Wasn't she afraid of seeing him, seeing how...how- crazy he is? His heart warmed at the fact she came back, a timid smile threatening to break across his face but he fought it, unsure as to how she'll take it. This was a sign, right? That they both were to be mates, forever.

"Kagome...I'm sorry that-"

"Sshhh," she chided as she put a finger to his lips, her bright blue orbs glistening. "It's ok, I ran into someone on the way that I thought you should see," She grinned. "It's been so long since I've seen them, I didn't know we were in their area until I saw the shrine."

Bewilderment swam in the depths of his molten gold eyes as he peered over his beloved's shoulder, his breath hitching in his throat. "H-Higurashis..." Why do they look like that? Why aren't they glaring daggers into his skull? Why...why are they smiling? And was that...he sniffed the air as his eyes widened. Tears.

It seemed like eternity until someone spoke:

"Inuyasha," Mrs. Higurashi hushed, her voice soft and careful. "How are you?" Fake. She wasn't concerned. Why was she trying so hard to keep that smile on her face? It wasn't a smile, it lacked warmth. It was cold, distant. Forced. He felt anger boil in his blood as his lips turned up into a smile as icy as the woman before him.

"I've been...fine, how about you?"

"Oh I've been well. You're looking rather tired," He didn't like how experienced the older woman faked concern, even her eyes crinkled with the emotion. "You should be taking a medication if you're having trouble..."

He lifted his nose in the air, irritated with her words. "I don't need them." He spoke curtly. "I've just been having an off day, nothing that can be fixed over time."

'I don't like this woman,' It growled, looking at Mrs. Higurashi through Inuyasha's eyes. 'She's talking as if she knows us. Do you really want to leave Kagome with her?'

He clenched his jaw, the action going unnoticed by the two ladies before him. He knew what the demon was implying, and he wasn't going to have at it. He can control it. He can do it.

"Hey Kagome," He spoke, looking at said woman, "I'm going to head home. I forgot that my father was going to fax me some documents that need looking over." He lied. His father would send any important documents to his older brother, Sesshomaru. He wouldn't put such a stress on his hanyou son.

Waving goodbye at the worried-filled look the ravenette gave him, she waved back reluctantly as she mouthed "I'll visit you later, okay?" He wasn't sure if he would like that for her. The moment he reached his car door, he slammed the vehicle door shut and pulled off the curb, zooming down the street as fast as he could. He needed to get back home. He needed to call his father.

It was coming loose again.

"Why can't you go away?" He whispered quietly as his ears pressed against his skull, his arms coming to reach at his head. He didn't let it come in, it came in by itself. It barged into the walls around his head and dried its feet, a wicked smile always on its face. "Leave me alone."

'I've been waiting for you forever.'
