Another year passed and everything was as normal as Fairy Tail could be; whether it was the usual 'break-out' fight in the guild or Team Natsu taking on another mission. The current date was September 19th and Mira was busy planning Sapphira's upcoming birthday with the other female wizards of the guild. She made Natsu and the others take a job that would keep Sapphira away till the 23rd and then they would come back to a magnificent party.
"Okay! We've got the decorations and cake ordered, plus everyone still has time to get presents for the birthday girl," Mira announced to the guild hall making sure everyone was prepared. Laxus walked in about an hour later looking around trying to find his girlfriend, and then walked over to Levy and Lisanna.
"Have you guys seen Sapphira," he asked sounding kind of nervous.
"She went out on a job with her team," Levy answered looking up from her book, "they won't be back for four days."
"You okay Laxus? You look nervous about something," Lisanna asked concerned.
"I just needed to talk to Sapphira but I guess I can wait till she gets back," he shrugged and waved as he left the hall deep in thought.
"Hey Lisanna do you think he's gonna break-up with her," Levy whispered worriedly.
"He wouldn't do that," Lisanna answered back hurriedly, "but the way he seemed uncertain and really nervous kind of reminds me of when….."
The white-haired mage gasped and a bright smile broke over her face; when Levy asked what it was, Lisanna whispered it in her ear and they both squealed in delight. When Mira inquired what was so exciting, they dragged her and a few other female mages into the kitchen and told them what they thought was going on with Laxus.
Later that night, the said lightning-dragon slayer mage left a jewel shop with his purchase, high hopes in his heart. He had gotten the blessing a few days ago and now he just had to talk to Sapphira.
About four days later, Team Natsu stumbled back into Magnolia; Gray and Natsu were arguing about whose fault it was that the bandits got away from them at first. Wendy, Erza and Sapphira were talking about the shopping they had done after completing the job and Happy and Carla just flew above the group. Sapphira broke from the group when they reached her house and said she'd meet them at the guild not noticing the smiles they shared with one another as she went inside.
She was walking down the street in a cute dress that was a pale blue and fell just below her knees and matching blue sandals; she really wanted to see Laxus because he had said he was going to talk to her parents about something, so she was curious.
As she reached the guild doors, her sensitive hearing picked up a bunch of shushing and Mira hurrying everyone to be quiet about something; opening the door slowly she found the guild hall darkened and deafly quiet.
"Hello, what's going on here you guys," she called out stepping towards the middle of the hall looking around.
Suddenly the lights flashed on and everyone jumped out shouting "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" causing the poor girl to spin-kick the nearest mage which happened to be Natsu and that threw him into Gray and Gajeel. Everyone waited for Sapphira to calm down, but instead she broke out into laughter and apologies and then the party started. Music blasted loudly while Mira and some others girls served food and drinks; Sapphira watched happily from the bar accepting gifts and best wishes from her friends. After about two hours, Laxus finally showed up and swept the birthday girl into his arms making her laugh and smile brightly.
"Happy Birthday Saph," he chuckled placing a gentle kiss on her soft lips, drawing group 'awes' from some of the girls.
"Thanks, I really missed you Laxus," she replied cuddling against him.
"I have a special present for you but I was wondering if we could do this in private," he whispered.
Sapphira nodded but noted the hint of nervousness in his voice; they snuck out the back doors quickly and walked to the cliff that hung over the beach. The moonlight shined brightly giving the air a soft glow; Laxus lead her to a stone bench and had her sit down.
"Sapphira…I love you…I truly do," he started off a slight shaking in his voice.
"I love you too Laxus," she replied placing a hand on his, "whatever it is you need to tell take all the time you need…"
Laxus the blonde mage nodded and took her left hand in his; he took a deep breath and smiled down at her.
"When we first met, I honestly never thought that I would be with you today. I slowly and deeply fell for you and now you have captured my heart. I love your smile, your kindness, and your gentle…and I want to be by your side for as long as I can…so…" he got down on one knee and pulled out a black velvet box and opened it: inside was a beautifully cut amethyst set inside a ring of smaller diamonds shaped into a dragon's eye on a band of pure silver, "Sapphira Blackmoon, will you marry me?"
"Oh Laxus," Sapphira whispered in awe as tears fell from her eyes and a smile broke across her face, "Yes! Yes I will marry you!"
Carefully placing the ring on her finger, Laxus pulled her up and kissed her with a fiery passion that took her very breath away. The moon seemed to glow directly on them as they held each other closely, love seeping into the earth and air itself like water in a stream.
"Hey Lovebirds," a voice called out to them, causing them to break from each other and seeing Macao standing in the doorway, "everyone's looking for the birthday girl to start on the cake!"
The couple chuckled and walked back hand-in-hand to the guild, everyone taking notice how happy they seemed as they sat at the bar.
"What are you two so giddy about," Cana asked from where she sat hugging a keg of beer.
Sapphira looked at her fiancé and he shrugged saying it was her choice to tell them.
"Well, Laxus and I have some news for everyone," she replied blushing slightly.
"Oh, Oh…tell us," Mira asked excitedly making everyone turn to them.
"Well…..Laxus and I…we're engaged," Sapphira answered showing her ring to the take-over mage.
Silence settled but the first to break it was Natsu wrapping an arm around the sliver-haired girl.
"Congrats you two," he said with a large smile.
Soon the whole guild broke into cheers and partied even louder than before; while the couple was being surrounded by friends, Natsu snuck out of the guild and sat under a tree in the gazing thoughtfully the silver ring in his hand.
"I wish we could've gotten married Lucy," he whispered into the wind, "I really miss you…"
"Papa Natsu," a small voice called out.
The pink haired mage turned to his right to see little Jaden and Namine standing a few feet away; they had taken to calling him that some months ago but it didn't bother him.
"What are you two doing out here," he asked as they sat on either side of him.
"It's really loud in there and Aunty Sapphira told us to come and sit outside with you," Namine said playing with Natsu's scarf.
"Plus it's really rowdy in there," Jaden added crossing his small arms.
"Hmmmm…..you guys wanna see some cool fire magic," he suggested.
When Sapphira looked out a nearby window about 20min. later, she smiled happily seeing Natsu playing with the twins thinking about how happy he'll probably be when he finds out they're his biological children. And that was only going to be another six moth wait….then everything would change for all of them.
Plz R&R!
Kay: another one up and now on to the next!
Sapphira: I can't believe i'm engaged!
Lucy: somebody's really excited!
Kay: -evil author's smirk- oh believe me...I'm just getting started...
