Hi Everyone! I'm back! After a long pause. I'm afraid my muse has been coming and going at random moments, so i apologize you all have to always wait for so long! I finally watched season 2(I bought it and watched it, since it hasn't been shown on tv yet where i'm from) and my mind is trying to figure out how to go from here, what to do and how to include Evie in these scenes.
I also will have to alter a lot, since in the show it's RosaleeXMonroe so the scenes are between those two and i have to alter them to fit MonroeXEveline... So much to do, so little time...
Also, i'd like to take a moment to thank Birdy Main, Who has been correcting me on few things.
So Birdy; About that scene with Juliette, I meant it that way, i guess i should've explained better, huh? You see, yes, Juliette did only take little time to print but there is a reason for that. I've actually seen someone do this, my mother for one. She's always stalking what houses are for sale around our town(No clue why, they did just get a new house..) So when i decided to move out, she was all like "Oh? Well i know few places you could move to!" In matter of minutes, she had actually printed them out.
I shit you not.
My mon is creepy like that...
So Juliette did the same, i know now, that others more than likely didn't understand that scene, so i will revise it somewhat.
And the next scene? Yeah... I couldn't figure out what to do after that scene so i kind of got lazy... Knew someone would see through that... Drat...
But seriously, thanks for the feedback, i'll be sure to go back and fix those mistakes. I've said this probably million times, but i don't have anything but Notepad, which doesn't get great features like spellcheck and things like that so i sometimes don't notice the mistake untill it's too late.
So seriously, Thank you.
All reviews are important to me, critical or not, because they keep me going and improving!
Also, this chapter is a little short, as i'm planning christmas special! Hopefully it will be up 23rd or 24th. Keep your thumbs up!
So without any further interruptions, Let's get reading!
Rage, Out!
It had been strange waking up that morning. For one, she had a pillow that was rising and falling... BREATHING!
Apparently, Monroe had stayed the night. They had both fallen asleep watching TV and snuggled up together in their sleep. That was Strange to Eveline. She had had few(very few at that) relationships in the past, but hadn't ever fell asleep with them. Not even after sex. For some reason, she was never too comfortable to fell asleep in their presence.
Maybe it was because she had been afraid to show her true colors to them unknowingly. Sure, one of them had been human(Not her proudest moments, she had to admit) but the other had been a Löwen, Arthur's relative. A cute guy who was very soft spoken. His name was Calvin Tiergon. He was Arthur's nephew and quite the charmer, to this day the two kept in contact after breaking their relationship off on mutual terms.
Eveline had really liked him too, but that was just it. she had liked him, not loved him. Still, the two had been together for three years. The last Eveline heard of him, he had gotten engaged with a lovely human woman named Sasha, she had spoken briefly with the woman and she knew about the Wesen world and sounded absolutely adorable. So she only had to threaten her a little about what would happen if Sasha hurt Calvin in any shape or form.
So why, did she feel so much more comfortable around Monroe, someone she had known only for couple of weeks, than Calvin, whom she had known for years and had had an intimate relationship with? She had no idea.
But as she laid on the couch with the sleeping Monroe, she couldn't help but to feel better than she had in a long time. She felt secure, protected and wanted. It kind of reminded her of her mothers embrace when she hugged her for the first time since her arrival to the Silverton family.
But, as comfortable as it was Eveline had to get up before Monroe woke up. She wasn't exactly looking forward to the awkward silence that would more than likely come with it...
Silently, she slipped from the wolf's grasp and made her way to the kitchen. A nice cup of coffee should clear her head enough to think what to say to Monroe. Should she act normal? Casual? Maybe bit worried? God, why was she over thinking this anyway? he came to her, right? That had to mean something, or at the very least that Monroe trusted her enough to come to her for comfort...
Eveline shook her head and concentrated upon her coffee machine, watching as the dark drops hit the surface of the growing amount of the coffee. She glanced outside, to see her neighbors from across the street putting up Christmas lights. Now that she thought about it, she had none. She should probably go and buy some soon. Maybe Monroe would like to go with her? He'd probably know where to get cheap ones.
Eveline had never been one for Christmas. It wasn't her favorite holiday(Actually, Halloween was). Sure, she loved snow and the foods(Especially turkey and ham...) as well as the silence it brought but she disliked the fuzz about presents and she had never really liked the songs. Who knows why...
One thing she did love about it though. And that was the moment the families got together, watching either a movie or playing board games. With the Silvertons, that tradition was absolute. The memories of those times always brought a smile upon Eveline's lips. Nothing beat playing games with her family, while her mother served hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookies(Never gingerbread, Eveline was apparently allergic to ginger and got some really nasty rash from it.)
When the coffee had finished dripping, Eveline got her favorite mug and poured herself the dark, beautiful elixir she wouldn't survive without.
At that moment, she heard shuffling from her living room and knew Monroe was awake and sure enough, the man stumbled inside the kitchen, looking around sleepily. "Mornin'..." He muttered, yawn breaking from his lips.
Eveline raised a brow at him and poured another cup of coffee, handing it to him. "Well good morning... Slept well?" Monroe happily accepted the mug offered to him and shrugged. "Couches aren't the most comfortable things to sleep on, you know?"
A mischievous feeling lit up within Eveline and a small smirk formed on her lips. "Why? I was quite comfortable.." She purred lightly, watching in amusement as the Blutbad froze. So he hadn't been aware that they had been snuggled together on the couch for the night... This, could be interesting...
Monroe stuttered for an excuse, but Eveline waved him off. "Anyway, i was thinking, do you know where to get some Christmas decorations? I don't have any of my own so i thought i should go and buy some before Juliette begins nagging at me."
Never had Eveline seen someone lit up like Monroe just had. It was like watching a parent tell their kids that they would be going to Disneyland. He was beaming at her, eyes flashing a happy shade of red(Or at least, that's what it looked like to her) and mouth turned in to a wide smile.
"Of course i do! Let me go and get dressed in something else and grab my keys and we can go shopping for them!" Monroe quickly gulped down his coffee and almost sprinted out. The door banged shut as he left, Leaving poor Eveline blinking after him as an horrible feeling of dread filled her.
She suddenly wished she had never mentioned Christmas at all...
Shopping with Monroe for Christmas decorations turned out to be something akin to a woman on a shopping spree. Eveline found herself being dragged around the shops by the Blutbad and she cursed herself over and over again for asking Monroe of all people for this.
Apparently her neighbor was some-what obsessed with different holidays. Main ones being Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Easter... Well, at least now she knew never to make the same mistake again.
Finally, it was time to draw the line, when Monroe had filled the car with all sorts of Christmas knickknacks. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to fit themselves inside!
"Okay! I think that's enough!" Eveline stared at Monroe as she said this, unaffected by his pout.
"But we didn't even get the tree yet!" He protested.
"For the love of... Monroe, Christmas is weeks away! The tree would just die if we got it now! " Eveline shot back.
The two didn't notice the looks they were getting from around them, as amused people looked at the arguing pair and whispered to one another and laughed. The two looked like a cute couple getting ready for their first Christmas together.
"Fine..." Monroe moaned and followed the relieved Mauvais dentes to the car.
On the road back home, Monroe kept gushing about what they had bought and where the items should go, Eveline for the sake of her sanity tuned him out and nodded every once in a while, the excited Blutbad noticed nothing.
The second the car stopped, Monroe jumped out and grasped what he could get his hands on and made a beeline for Eveline's house.
She snorted when she noticed him shaking in excitement like a puppy, all he needed was the tail wagging happily behind him. The mental image was absolutely adorable, but like hell she would ever say anything about it to him.
Calmly, she grasped the rest of the items and walked to open her door, releasing the Christmas-monster within Monroe, as the man zoomed inside and began decorating. She hadn't asked him to help, but he was going to do it anyway, it seemed.
The next few hours were spent cleaning and decorating and by the time Eveline's house was looking like Christmas wonderland, she couldn't help but to just stare at it all.
Holy hell...
"Do you think we can take down the fence between our houses? We could like, create this theme and i have more than enough stuff to share so-" Monroe began rambling and Eveline turned towards him, yet again read filling up inside her.
"Um, that's okay, i can-"
"Great!" He beamed at her, rendering her speechless for a moment, but that was all he needed to slip by and zoom to his house and get the tools to take down the fence.
Eveline blinked and looked at her phone.
Would Nick take kindly if she called for back-up?
So, finally things were calming down. Monroe had dragged Eveline to his own house and she had helped him decorate. If she thought her house was a Christmas wonderland, then Monroe's must have been Santa's workshop.
In the end, he also had set up the Christmas tree... He had actually gone back to get it and hers too...
It was already dark outside, Eveline wondered how long they had actually been decorating as she sipped the wine Monroe had given to her. Speaking of the guy, he was now putting together a train set in the middle of the room.
As she watched him doing this, she heard someone at the door.
"Monroe, you have visitors." The Blutbad glanced up at her and then at the door, getting up to answer it.
It was none other, than Nick.
"Ah Nick. Is this um, important because i'm right in the middle of-"
"yes. It is."
"Yeah, but you see the thing is-" Monroe tried to explain, but Nick had already pushed himself in and was now staring at all of the Christmas decorations around him, stopping for a second to raise a brow at Eveline who was curled up on the couch, nursing her wine glass.
"Woah, i mean you REALLY like Christmas." He commented as he looked around.
"Well it's a long tradition in my family and um... While you're here you might as well help." Monroe gave Nick one of the trains he had been setting up. "here, hang on to that." Nick accepted the train, looking at it curiously. "Don't. Mess with that!" Monroe warned him. "That is antique. 1935, pre-war." He then went to turn on the 'station'. "Wait until you see these babies run!"
Nick came closer. "Look, i need to show you something."
"Yeah yeah yeah, just a sec!" He set something on and turned to Nick. "here, hand me the caboose!" Nick quickly handed it over. "Now step back!" Hands up in the air in surrender, Nick did as he was told, sighing and taking few steps back in a twirl.
Eveline watched with mild interest, as Monroe turned the whole thing on and with the cute sound of the train it began moving. Monroe was happy like a kid on, well, Christmas! "What do you think?!" He asked both of them, glancing at Eveline with a happy gleam in his dark eyes which to she answered with a small smile. Truth to be told, she had no idea why he was so excited over the thing...
"I think you have too much time on your hands, Monroe!" Nick called over the noise. Monroe gave a slight laugh, not taking his eyes off from the trains. "Me an Juliette don't even have the lights up yet."
Monroe looked up and at Nick with this cute, child-like look. "You should see me in my Santa suit!"
Eveline choked on her drink when she heard that, trying so hard not to laugh. Oh god, A blutbad Santa Claus! She would pay to see that!
"Yeah, a Blutbad as Santa." Nick scoffed.
"Hey, i'm pretty good. But it's true! I'm no Gefrierengeber!"
Eveline perked up, she had never heard of a Gefrierengeber before. And neither had Nick as he took a moment to think what had just been said and stopped the train. "Wait a minute, are you telling me that Santa Claus is.."
"Well think about it." Monroe shrugged. "I mean, who else could live up there?"
Nick huffed in disbelieve and Monroe smirked at him. "You want eggnog? I made it from scratch!" He glanced between the two.
Eveline shook her head. "No thank you, but i COULD go for more wine~!" She cheerily replied, giving back the empty glass for a refill, which Monroe gladly gave her.
Nick didn't want any either, but instead dug something out of his pocket. "I want you two to tell me, if she could be a Blutbad." Nick handed Monroe a picture.
Eveline stood up and looked at the picture, leaning on Monroe to get a better fiew. The girl was adorable, happy looking little girl. That's just it, there was no way of telling if she was Wesen or human.
"I can't tell what she is from a photo." Monroe told him, Eveline nodding in confirmation when Nick glanced at her.
"Well, if she's something like you, could she survive by herself in the woods for nine years?"
"Well if she wasn't definitely not. But was she lost or something?" Monroe answered for them.
"Well there's a possibility that she was abducted nine years ago at the age of 7." Nick told them, his voice tinted with sadness.
They snapped their heads to look at him. "Wow. And you think she's been living in the woods for nine years?" Monroe asked.
"That's pretty amazing..." Eveline whistled. Holy cow, if she was a Wesen she most definitely was one of the more 'predatory' ones.
"And we have evidence that it was her."
"Well..." Monroe thought about. "I mean, if she was only seven years old, you know society hasn't had that much influence on her so she'd still be a wild child! Her instincts would be working full-time so, you know, she'd have a decent chance!... Not sure i'd like to run in to her now, though."
"Yeah," Eveline agreed. "I've read few cases about things like that. At the age of seven, she would still be in a learning stage and because she was so young it would be a lot easier to her than to an adult to adjust. If she were a Wesen, she would have a pretty good shot at surviving for nine years. Especially if she was a predator."
The two males turned to look at her as she settled back on the couch. "Predatory...?" Nick questioned, causing her to blink at him.
"Well, yes. You know how Wesen act a lot like the animal they look like, right? That's the easiest way to recognize if they are dangerous or not. Example, Blutbaden are wolf's, so they have similar instincts to normal wolf's. Pack mentality, hunting instincts and such, while as something non-predatory like Mauzhertz, is the prey of the bigger and stronger ones like mice usually are, so their instinct are based on avoiding predators like Monroe and i, while they are good at surviving, a Blutbad like Monroe would no doubt have a better chance as he could fight back much better."
She glanced between the man. "get it?"
"I can see why you became a psychiatrist..." Monroe commented after a short silence.
Eveline's cheeks reddened and she looked away.
"Anyway." Nick called the attention back to the matter at hand, to her relief. "She was adopted at a very young age, i don't know if her adopted parents were Blutbaden... Could that be a problem?"
"Yeah." Both Monroe and Eveline answered.
"I mean," Monroe took over. "She had no one who understood what she was going through."
"Did you know you were a Blutbad when you were born?" Nick looked to Eveline. "Or that you were a Mauvais dentes?"
Monroe sighed and sat down next to Eveline. "Let me put it this way, the first time you feel the surge and you fang out, it's pretty weird. I bit through my lip i ripped my pants. It scared the crap out of me."
"Mine wasn't any better. "Eveline admitted. "When i did it the first time, i was really angry and i attacked this one guy because of it. I didn't even notice i had full on attacked him. I was snarling and lashing out with my claws, snapping my teeth like a rabid dog, really. Scary stuff, i tell yah."
"So you're telling me, that there's a possibility that she doesn't know who she is, i mean if she didn't have parents that understood?"
"Pretty sure, yes."
"definitely, yeah. I mean than could be the reason why she never came out of the woods." Monroe nodded and it did make sense. The girl must have been completely freaked out.
"I'm going back out there, and i want you two to come with me." Nick spoke and Eveline was immediately shaking her head no.
As did Monroe. "How did i know you were going to say that?"
"Monroe, if she is something like you i can't risk someone elses life by taking them out there!"
"Apparently you're willing to risk ours."
"You're like her. You can understand her." Nick continued.
"Look, even if she accepts me, i haven't been living in the woods for nine years. I'd be no match for something like that!" Monroe protested.
Nick's reply? Show the picture of a sweet, innocent little girl and try to guilt-trip them.
And damn if it wasn't working...
"I think she might be wounded."
Eveline and Monroe shared a look. "That doesn't make it better."
"Actually, it makes it hundred times worse." Eveline piped up.
"Well, i'm going back out there." Nick told them, stuffing the picture back inside his pocket.
"Not at night." The two said in perfect harmony, causing them to blink at each other, before looking back to Nick.
"Tomorrow morning?" Nick asked, arching a brow at them.
Monroe nodded. "We better be prepared."
"I'm not going."
Once more, the men snapped their heads to Eveline, who sighed and took a gulp of her wine.
"What, why not?" Nick demanded.
"Two words: Mauvais, dentes. Not exactly the most trustworthy being around there, you know?" She set the glass on the table in front of her. "Even if she doesn't know what i am, the possibility that she can sense that i'm really dangerous would make her wary. It's better i'm not around if you want her to trust you. Besides, i have work tomorrow. I can't exactly call my boss and say that i'm hunting down a missing kid that might be a 'monster' out of children's story book. "
She looked Nick in the eye. "Sorry to say, but there's nothing i can do for now. If she's a Mauvais dentes like me, then you get the fuck away from her and call me, okay?"
"Fine, but you better pick up if i call." Nick finally agreed.
"Yeah, i'd feel much better if you were with us, but what can you do?" Monroe nodded to her.
"Alright Monroe, i'll call you tomorrow morning then. I should head home now, Juliette's gonna worry otherwise." Nick made for the door and Eveline got up from her seat, stretching a little.
"I should probably go too, i seriously need a hot bath." She turned to Monroe and smiled. "Thanks for the help today. I should probably thank you somehow."
Monroe shook her off. "Nah, i was glad to help, Anyway, thanks for sticking around for-"
He didn't get farther, as he froze when he felt the pressure upon his cheek, where Eveline kissed him.
Eveline gave small laugh and skipped to the door. "Bye Monroe!" She closed the door behind her and walked to her house, smile on her lips and wondering how long it would take the Blutbad to recover from her little surprise attack.
