Ten/Rose

"Remind me again why we have to go shopping?" Rose asked, her arm linked with the Doctor's as they approached the general store.

He laughed, "And here I thought you would be the one wanting to go shopping. The TARDIS is having issues lately, she has a bug. It's called TARDIS flu."

"Seriously?" Rose asked, raising an eyebrow. "TARDIS flu? Time Lords weren't very creative, were they?"

"Well obviously it's different in Gallifreyan, but that's the English translation, yes. Anyways, right now she's working on fighting off the flu, she can't be bothered to do basic things like - "

"Like make sure we survive by supplying us with food?" Rose inquired.

He grinned, "Exactly! Therefore, we're going shopping."

The Doctor held the glass door open for her, making a funny face while he did so. Rose giggled as she entered the general store and began looking around. "Right, so we just need food and drinks, yeah?"

"I happen to have a lot of money on me, so if there's anything else you'd like, you can get that, too. But we can't forget bananas!" The Time Lord placed five bunches of bananas into his newly-aquired shopping cart and began pushing it around.

Rose laughed at his antics, watching as he walked around the store, barely looking at items as he carelessly tossed them into the cart. She walked to the other side of the store, looking around for anything that might be useful while the TARDIS was sick, and something interesting caught her eye. Rose approached the cart with the item behind her back and waited until the Doctor got in line.

Their cashier and bagger was a young woman with her light brown hair pulled back into a ponytail. She smiled at them and greeted them politely, "Hello! How are you this evening?"

"Good, how are you?" the Doctor replied politely.

When all of the other items were laid down, Rose pulled a pink box from behind her back and set it down. The Doctor frowned. "Rose, what's that?"

"Oh, nothing. Just something that looked interesting to me," she said, trying to sound nonchalant.

He reached out his hand for it and Rose immediately held it. The cashier smiled at the two of them as she bagged items. He grinned at Rose, "What is it?"

"Nothing," Rose repeated a little too loud, a blush rising on her face. "Something feminine."

"Feminine? Like... Uh..." the Doctor racked his brain trying to think of something feminine, and Rose couldn't help but laugh. "Is it a Barbie doll? Actually, Barbies aren't strictly feminine. I once knew a boy who absolutely loved to play with them. His name was Tommy, I believe. Lived in Scotland. What a nice little boy he was, his mother was..."

Rose decided it was best to let the Doctor continue his ramble while the cashier finished up. When she bagged the final item, she gave Rose a knowing little nod. Rose just looked at the Doctor and rolled her eyes in response.

"But it turned out that there actually was an elephant in the house! They had hidden it in the basement underneath their basement. The double basement, if you will," the Doctor cut off his own ramble as his attention snapped back to Rose. "So what was in the box?"

"Something feminine," she repeated. "But don't worry about it, let's just get back to the TARDIS. Maybe you can help her in her healing."

They both held as many bags as they could carry, and Rose made sure to carry the one bag with her item in it. The two companions reached the TARDIS and they set their bags down on the console floor. The Doctor began to unload, and he nonchalantly took the pink box out of one of the bags. Rose turned bright red as he held it up, scrunching up his nose. "What is this?"

"Doctor, it's a vibrator," she explained, ducking her head and attempting to take the box from him. He spun around on his heels out of her reach and she groaned.

"What's that for? Some fancy tool to dry off clothes or something? Our dryer still works, you know. Or does it give a massage or something?" he asked innocently, looking at Rose and handing her the box.

"Um... Not exactly. Plenty of women have them on Earth," Rose said, stepping towards the hallway, eager to get away.

The Doctor stepped in front of her, eyes filled with concern. "Are you okay? You're really red, Rose. You know, I could just take the place of this vibrator or whatever and give you a back massage. Or dry your clothes for you. I don't mind."

Rose couldn't help the laugh that escaped her at his innocence. He frowned, obviously wondering why she was amused by his totally serious offer.

"Oi! I give good back rubs!"

She eventually got on her tippytoes and leaned in close to him, explaining what it was really for.

His face went white as a sheet. "Oh... I... It... You... Oh."

"Yeah," Rose said with a chuckle.

"I will, er, leave you um... Oh... To your..." the Doctor walked backwards, aiming for the hallway but bumping into the console instead. "I... Bye..."
