Chapter 12: Does Mazu know of mercy?

Mazu's POV

As the sun beat down on us, I felt myself getting excited. A battle with the heroine of Aaa? Never in a million years would I, The Daughter of Death, think that such a thing was possible! My opponent was standing 20 feet away, her pink crystal sword reflecting the sunlight like a clouded mirror. I felt a form of fear grow in my stomach. I had to fight Fionna the Human, fabled savior of Princes and nearly undefeatable in battle. Nearly. Everyone has a weakness. Mine is catnip, because HELLO! I'm a feline, damn it! Ssh! Don't tell ANYONE! Or I will hunt you down!

I saw Fionna move and my attention was on her in half a second. I saw her flinch, a thin layer of sweat was beginning to form on her face. I could smell it from where I was standing. Fear. Thick… like smoke over a forest fire. She was scared also? My nose crinkled when the smell of dirty water, spray paint, milk, and leafy things entered my nose. I could hear animal noises behind me. Four bears, four geese, two foxes, two cows, and two other things that smelled like pine needles and maple syrup.

Fionna looked shocked. At first, I thought it was at me… until I heard chanting. I heard ''Fionna'' over and over, also some other things.

''Kick her hide, Fionna!''

''Yeah, make her pay for hurting Finn!''

''Cut her to pieces!''

I turned around to see all the animals I had mentioned smelling before. Except now, I saw two forest wizards. One was a man, the other was a woman. They looked mad at me. I stepped back. Fionna took this opportunity to charge at me from behind. She slashed at my back with her sword. It felt like a hot knife going through butter. My armor's third layer had no chance. It split apart, exposing the stronger second layer. I was thrown to the ground, my arms and legs splayed apart on impact.

I pulled my face up and spit out dirt. I had a few scrapes and a bruise on my face, and a whole lotta attitude. I picked myself up off the ground, shooting daggers at Fionna. I charged and swiped with my claws. When nothing happened, Fionna scoffed at me.

''You missed me!''

I cocked an eyebrow. ''Did I really? Look again.''

Half of her sleeve and one of her backpack's straps fell apart. She looked at the fabrics as they touched the ground. She looked back up and nodded with a smile on her face. My face portrayed my confusion, with a frown and a head tilt.

I felt a large amount of weight land on my back. Claws scraped my armor, making a loud screeching sound. My face was getting rapidly attacked by two reddish-orange and white blurs. I felt something grabbed a hold of my neck and start tugging and pulling.

''Don't kill her! Just keep her there until she passes out.'' Fionna warned. WHAT!? Something clicked in my head. The animals… I started to squirm to try and get out of the animals grasp. I kicked something hard, and heard a loud grunt. I changed into a lion and pushed the animals off. I grabbed one of the now visible foxes by the neck. I shook it back and forth like a dog would to a chew toy. I let it go just as my head was at the peak of the shake. It flew into the forest. The other fox ran away, looking for its friend. I hate how foxes all look the same, with their genders and such.

I took a deep breath and roared as loud as I could. The entire area was consumed in a mini-earthquake, sending trees toppling to the ground and little fissures opened up in the ground. The animals and the two wizards scattered to try and save their precious homes from destruction. When they all left, I closed my mouth and resumed my normal form.

Fionna and company were all on the ground, covering their ears. I started chuckling as I walked toward Fi. She opened her eyes in time to see me walking towards her. She scrambled for her sword, but I picked it up myself. I swung it in my hands, and stared her down. I grinned, my sharp teeth poking out. She started to cry a little. The others closed their eyes, not wanting to see their friend meet her end. Fionna bowed her head, her eyes screwed shut. I lifted up the sword and prepared to strike her down.

Fionna's POV

I waited for her to kill me. I started to cry harder. What would FP do if I was dead? Would he find a different girl? And Marshal… who would he mess with? Who would save the princes from Ice Queen? I know Cake wouldn't be able to do it herself. She'd probably cry her eyes out with Finn, Jake, and Lord Monocrom. Ice Queen might do a happy dance because I wouldn't be able to stop her anymore. PG would be sad too, because we'd both be dead. I heard Mazu let out a battle cry-like yell.

After a few seconds, I noticed that I never felt the blade hit me. I heard something clatter to the ground. I swore I was dead at first. I didn't want to open my eyes and know if it was true. I opened my eyes upon hearing soft thuds. I saw my sword in front of me, and a pair of boots slowly walking away from me. I heard mumbling from the boots.

''I beat you, fair and square. Next Time I won't be so merciful. That's a promise.''

I looked up to Mazu walking away from me. She was going toward the big tree. She turned into a lion mid-way and walked straight through the barrier. She started digging and soon she was dragging two large boxes out from the hole she dug. She nudged both of them out of the barrier and soon all of us were crowded around the boxes.

Finn's POV

Ouch, my head was pounding. I opened my eyes, only to get blinded by a strong gold light. I heard Jake, Cake, Fionna, and… Princess Bubblegum? I… I thought she was…dead? As my eyes adjusted, I saw a mass of pink. Without thinking, I got up and hugged the life out what I thought was PB. Instead I got someone else.

''Hey! Get off!'' That sounded like a guy. Oh shoot. I let go of the pink mass. My eyes finally cleared up, and I saw a person that looked like Bubblegum… if she was a dude. I felt my face heat up in embarrassment. ''S-Sorry dude.''

I heard laughter beside me. I saw her. She was alive. Was Mazu telling the truth when she said she wanted to help? Princess Bubblegum kneeled down and hugged me. A choked cry came from me and I hugged her back.

''Heh, well isn't this a touching moment?'' I heard a voice above say. Fionna, who was hugging the Male PB t the time, and Cake gasped. I looked and saw a blue lady with really long white hair, a poofy dress, a golden crown, and lightning-shaped eyebrows. To be honest, she looked like Ice King, but she was a girl. ''ICE QUEEN!'' The strange lady cackled when Fionna and Cake shouted. That's Ice Queen? Wow.

''I'm not here for you, girls! I'm here for that little kitty-cat that broke her promise to The Lich!'' She pointed to Mazu, who now was in her usual form. I saw her stiffen and try to back away. Ice Queen's hands lit up with blue magic as she shot her ice spikes down. We all scattered to avoid getting impaled. Mazu wasn't so lucky. A spike went straight through her body. Her blood was a gold color, like her eyes. She fell to her knees, and then flat on her face. Her arms were in fornt of her like she was about to rest her head on them. The spike was pushed out and disappeared in a burst of light. There was a large hole where her stomach should be. I saw her spit out a large amount of blood and she attempted to lift her head up. ''Mazu!'' I saw her smile bittersweetly, before her eyes rolled back into her head and her head fell to the dirt.

Demon: Ever notice that I have sweet little sad scenes? Weird.

Mazu: *dead*

Everyone: IS SHE GONNA BE OKAY?

Demon: *shrug* Maybe, I don't know. I'm not physic. Well, readers, it is time for me to say goodbye, but don't worry. An update will follow this one shortly!
