Leg 9
Previously on the Amazing Race, 6 teams set out for the Johto region. While all the other teams caught on an earlier flight, Steven and Wallace dozed off. Ruby and Sapphire headed in the wrong direction, which ultimately dropped them to the back of the pack. However, Steven and Wallace could not make up for the lost time and were eliminated from the Amazing Race. 5 teams remain, who will be eliminated next?
Blue and Yellow, departing 1st at 7.41am
"Receive your next clue at Mahogany Town after eating a Rage Candy Bar at the marked stand." Blue read the clue.
Confessional:
Blue: We are the frontrunners of this race, and we want to stay in for as long as possible.
"The weather is cooling but not freezing cold, I love this place." Yellow comments.
"We should come here for a holiday after the race." Blue joked.
"Store opens at 9am." Yellow read the sign. "Let's find a place to sit."
Calem and Serena, departing 2nd at 8.12am
"I can't believe we're still in this." Calem said.
Confessional:
Serena: We are the underdogs of this race.
Calem: Anything can happen and we could win the Amazing Race.
"Store opens at 9am. Blue and Yellow are resting over there." Serena points.
"Let's put our bags on the bench next to where they're at." Calem said.
Red and Green, departing 3rd at 8.17am
"The sun is starting to get bright." Red points out.
Confessional:
Green: We have been a flippy floppy team but we are confident in making it to the finals.
Red: We already are in leg 9, the finals is our goal and we will win.
"Store opens at 9. Why do we have to wait every leg, it gives us a chance of being eliminated." Red complained.
Ruby and Sapphire, departing 4th at 8.41am
"Whoop, store is open at 9, that means everyone will be starting the race together." Ruby said.
Confessional:
Sapphire: Ruby and I aren't frontrunners, but we definitely aren't weak. We are capable of making the final three and winning this race.
"Alliance is sitting over there, let's go converse." Ruby said.
"So if there is a uturn, who will uturn?" Sapphire asked.
"Red and Green, but we already used our uturn power on them a few legs ago." Blue told them. "We still have a yield power though."
"We still have our power." Ruby informed them.
"They are the strongest threats other than you guys, so we should be uturning them." Sapphire said.
"There should be one more uturn or yield, so let's make the best of it." Yellow said.
"This leg there isn't any, so we should race on our first to not create suspicion between Red and Green." Ruby said.
Confessional:
Ruby: If they don't know what to do, they won't prepare for it.
Yellow: Hopefully the plan works well and we can win the Amazing Race as our biggest threats are out. We worked together in the first leg, but now it's leg 9 and is anybody's game.

Crystal and Lyra, departing last at 8.47am
"Store opens at 9, means we can catch up with everyone." Lyra gave a little dance.
Confessional:
Crystal: Calem and Serena and us are the weakest teams on the race. We never performed well, but we are sure we can beat Calem and Serena.
Lyra: We are going to win the Amazing Race.
All teams gathered outside the store and paid for their bars.
"Wow this is good." Blue munches on the bar.
"I don't care getting my clothes dirty if it's good." Ruby smiled.
Blue and Yellow, currently in 1st
"Make your way to the Blackthorn City gym on foot." Blue reads.
"Alright, Blackthorn is in the east." Yellow remarks.
They started to jog to Blackthorn.
Calem and Serena, currently in 2nd
"We should just follow them." Calem states as they trail behind Blue and Yellow who are jogging.
Confessional:
Serena: We aren't Kanto and Johto natives, we don't know the place, and we don't know how to use the map on foot because the map is for cars.
Red and Green, currently in 3rd
"We should ask for directions." Red said as they searched for a hiker along the way.
Confessional:
Red: We do not want to get lost and too tired as we are travelling on foot, so the right direction is the best.
Ruby and Sapphire, currently in 4th
"They're asking a hiker, but we can catch up to our alliance and Calem and Serena." Sapphire states as they sprint.
Confessional:
Ruby: Our alliance looks like they know where they're going, and if we will ask a hiker if we run into one halfway just in case.
Crystal and Lyra, currently in last
"We should follow Red and Green since we don't want to waste too much energy." Crystal concludes as Lyra asks a hiker.
Confessional:
Lyra: I was worried the walk could be quite long and getting lost could waste quite a lot of energy. The leg is not even halfway through, so we don't want to get tired out early.

"Clue's over there." Red points to the cluebox outside the city's gym.
Red and Green, currently in 1st
"Dragon tamer or Dragon scholar." Red read.
"This detour requires teams to either complete a training session with a dragon tamer or solve a puzzle. In Dragon tamer, teams will enter the Blackthorn City Gym where they are required to learn 7 different kinds of training moves, once the city's gym leader deems fit, they will receive their next clue. In Dragon scholar, teams are required to calculate the amount of steps a dragon egg takes to hatch using materials, once they identified the correct number of steps, the scholar will hand over their next clue.."
"We should do Tamer." Red says.
"Alright then." Green follows and they head into the gym.
Crystal and Lyra arrived shortly after they walked into the gym.
Crystal and Lyra, currently in 2nd
"Dragon scholar obviously." Lyra laughs.
Confessional:
Crystal: Dragon tamer training? N O. I can do math, so I can work out something pretty fast.
Blue and Yellow, currently in 3rd
They reached right after Crystal and Lyra arrived.
"Can't believe Calem and Serena were following us." Blue commented.
"You threw them off somehow." Yellow followed.
"We're doing dragon scholar." Blue continued.
Confessional:
Blue: We caught Calem and Serena following us, so we threw them off by running in different directions. It may have wasted some time, but we threw them off somehow.
Ruby and Sapphire, currently in 4th
"We're doing Dragon Tamer." Sapphire said.
Confessional:
Ruby: I had a feeling something bad was going to happen, so we asked a hiker for directions.
Calem and Serena, currently in last
"We lost them." Calem sighed.
"Search for a hiker to ask for directions." Serena told him.
Calem asked a hiker.
"We have to turn back and continue walking east for fifteen minutes." Calem sighed.
Confessional:
Calem: Blue and Yellow threw us off and now we have to work even harder to catch up.
Red and Green (Move 3 of 7)
"We are unleashing our inner dragons." Red joked as they finished their third move.
Confessional:
Red: The task was fairly simple as we had to copy what the dragon tamer did.
Crystal and Lyra
Crystal was hard at work while Lyra informed Crystal the numbers.
Confessional:
Crystal: There were several equations already given, so you would just have to work that in to the mass and size of the egg.
"7,917." Crystal informed the judge.
"Your answer is… correct." The scholar says.
Crystal and Lyra, currently in 1st
"Make your way through to Cherrygrove City by mountain bicycles provided at the Pokémon Center." Lyra read.
"Oh my god, that's at least 10 miles." Crystal sighs.
"On bike." Lyra reminded her.
Red and Green (Move 5 of 7)
"Almost done." Red says after completing his fifth move.
Ruby and Sapphire (Move 2 of 7)
"We're not that far behind, we can catch up." Ruby stated.
"This is pretty fun and the moves are pretty simple." Sapphire said as they completed their second move.
Calem and Serena, currently in last
"Oh my god, finally." Serena sighed.
"We're doing Dragon Scholar." Calem said.
Confessional:
Calem: We are sort of good in math, so hopefully we can pull through.
Blue and Yellow
"Our egg needs 9,224 steps." Yellow said after calculating.
"Your answer is… correct." The scholar said.
"She's my brains." Blue laughed.
Blue and Yellow, currently in 2nd
"Let's hurry, we're not far behind Crystal and Lyra." Blue comments.
Red and Green, currently in 3rd
They received their clue after the tamer approves them.
"Quickly." Green says while running.
"We can see Blue and Yellow leaving the Pokémon Center." Red points at the figures leaving the Center with their bikes.
Ruby and Sapphire (Move 5 of 7)
"Hopefully Calem and Serena screwed up somewhere." Sapphire said.
"We're almost done here anyways." Ruby reassured her.
Crystal and Lyra, currently in 1st
The sisters were slowly navigating their way through the mountain.
"The ground is really rough and steep." Crystal panted.
"I climbed this mountain before so I know the route, but it's easier to climb then cycle because it is very bumpy." Lyra said.
Blue and Yellow, currently in 2nd
"Yellow hurry! Red and Green are catching up." Blue informed her.
"My legs are too short for this." Yellow commented.
Confessional:
Yellow: These are just one of the problems about being short.
Red and Green, currently in 3rd
"We're right behind Blue and Yellow, but it's not very safe to overtake them yet." Red pointed to the narrow and steep path.
Confessional:
Red; We want to overtake them, but on the mountains you got to be careful because an injury can put us behind time and the other teams.
Ruby and Sapphire, currently in 4th
"QUICK!" Sapphire alarmed.
"Chill, we just got on our bikes." Ruby sighed. "We haven't seen Calem and Serena yet and these are their bikes."
Crystal and Lyra

The three teams were now on a bike race down the rest of the mountain.
"Hurry Yellow!" Blue called.
"Lyra, we can win them." Crystal said.
Red and Green focused on pedaling ahead and reached the bottom of the mountain first.
"We're right behind them." Crystal said.
"We're right behind you." Blue laughed.
Calem and Serena, currently in last
"Let's hurry." The duo sprinted to their mountain bikes.
Ruby and Sapphire
"I don't think we are going the right way." Ruby commented.
"We need to ask for directions." Sapphire stated.
"I don't see a single hiker." Ruby sighed.
"We have to backtrack and search for another team before the sun sets." Sapphire sighed.
Confessional:
Sapphire: We made a wrong turn somewhere and got lost, so now we have to backtrack and find the right way.
Ruby: It's worrying to get lost at this point of the game and knowing when you are at the back of the pack.
Red and Green, currently in 1st
The duo managed to hail a cab once they parked their mountain bikes and reached Cherrygrove City first.
"Roadblock, who is ready to be a guide?" Red read the clue.
"This roadblock requires one team member to be a guide to new trainers or tourists. Just like in the game, one team member will learn the basics of being a guide, next, they are required to repeat the task to a marked trainer. Once the trainer deems a pass, they will receive their next clue."
"I'll do it." Green volunteered.
Crystal and Lyra, currently in 2nd
The duo also managed to get a cab.
"I can do this." Lyra said.
Lyra and Green were learning the basics from the guide.
Blue and Yellow, currently in 3rd
Blue and Yellow decided to run to Cherrygrove as they couldn't find a cab.
"Your turn." Yellow told Blue.
Lyra and Green both try at the same time while Blue learns.
Confessional:
Blue: I knew we weren't going home because we are the front three, but we would have to work fast because the other teams could arrive anytime and we don't want to be eliminated.
The trainers hand clues to both Lyra and Green.
Crystal and Lyra, currently in 1st
"Make your way to the next pit stop, the top of sprout tower." Crystal read.
The sisters hopped back on their cab.
"Red and Green didn't keep their taxi, so let's hurry." Lyra marked.
"We could get first, oh my god." Crystal said nervously.
Red and Green, currently in 2nd
"We should have kept our taxi." Red sighed.
Confessional:
Red: We always mess up somehow before the pit stop and it costs us getting first.
Ruby and Sapphire, currently in 4th
They managed to find the right way and quickly got to Cherrygrove City.
"I'll take it, your too wild and might scare whoever we're guiding." Ruby said.
Sapphire had a vein pop out but calmed herself down, not wanting to waste anymore time.
Confessional:
Sapphire: Sometimes I want to punch him in the face but now is not the time because we could be eliminated.

"We're still in this, Calem and Serena just arrived." Yellow told her.
Calem and Serena, currently in last
"I'll do this." Serena said.
Confessional:
Calem: When we saw Ruby and Sapphire at the roadblock, I knew we were still in this, but we needed to hurry up.
Ruby and Sapphire, currently in 4th
"Hurry!" Sapphire calls Ruby as they hop on their cab.
"We are so close to being eliminated." Ruby said.
Crystal and Lyra

The two teams were seen getting out of their cabs and running to the top of the tower.
"Hurry Crystal!" Lyra called.
"We're almost there." Red said.
"The pit stop!" ? shouted.
"Run like the wind." Commented.

"Crystal and Lyra, you are team number 1!" Marissa informed them.
"OH MY GOD!" Crystal shouts.
"As the winners of this leg of the race, you both have won a trip for two to Undella Bay in the Unova region, congratulations." Marissa told them.
The sisters hugged each other as they left the pit stop.
Confessional:
Crystal: We are the underdog winners. We never expected to win a leg in the Amazing Race after seeing how competitive the other teams are. Winning this leg might just prove that we can win the Amazing Race.
Lyra: The other teams better not look down on us now because we could be the team stealing their titles and money.
Red and Green, 2nd
"We were close." Red shrugged.
"We can beat them the next leg anyways." Green shrugged too.
Confessional:
Red: It doesn't really matter, what matters is we make it to the end and win that leg.
Green: What matters most is making it into leg 12 and winning that leg, the only placement that matters is the last one.
Calem and Serena, currently in last
"Hurry cabbie." Serena told the taxi driver.
"Hopefully another team got lost." Calem sighed.
Confessional:
Serena: I completed the roadblock really quickly, so now it's hoping that another team messed up somewhere or somehow.
Blue and Yellow, 3rd
"Big move today guys." Marissa informed them. "You threw another team off the right route."
"Right now, anyone is a threat so sorry if we threw you off, but we want to make it to the end and win the Amazing Race." Blue said.
Confessional:
Blue: We are one of the biggest threats left in the game and we are here to win, so we will do our best to make it to the final leg and win.
Yellow: We will do whatever it takes too to win the Amazing Race.
The two remaining teams were seen in their taxis.
"A jam right now? Oh my god." Sapphire closes her eyes.
"Anyone's game." Calem states.

"Let's get out and run, it will be much faster." ? said.
"RUN FAST! We could be eliminated." ? shouted.
"They're running, we are so screwed if the traffic doesn't go faster." ? sighed.
"Should we get out and run?" ? asked.
"No, we can't beat them if we get out and run now, they're too far ahead." ? said.
"Hope the traffic clears up fast." ? prayed.
"There are so many stairs, oh my god." ? remarked.

"Are you kidding?" Sapphire says as she falls to the floor.
Confessional:
Ruby: We didn't think we would make it and we were so exhausted that we ran all the way to the pit stop and I think we made the right choice.
Sapphire: We have now made it to leg 10 and we are going to make it to the finals and win.

"Calem and Serena you are the last team to arrived." Marissa informs them.
They looked to the floor in disappointment.
"However I'm pleased to inform you that this is a non-elimination leg and you will still be racing."
They widen their eyes and heave a sigh of relief.
"However, sometime in the next leg of the race you will face a speedbump that only you have to complete."
"We know." Serena states.
Confessional:
Calem: We may have fallen short, but we are coming back strong.
Serena: We have survived many times and we are going to make it to the end and win.

Next time on the Amazing Race, teams enter the Hoenn region. A rocky or choppy detour leaves Crystal and Lyra all mashed up and Calem and Serena have another quarrel in the woods. Blue and Red gets washed up at the roadblock and a fiveway footrace to the pit stop leaves everybody's fate on the chopping block.

Author's Note: I know this chapter is really bad but I'll make up for it the next chapter! (Actually this race was written really bad but I'm pleased with it because it's my first attempt at something like this.)
