Things are about to get crazy. The Promotion Exams are here! The first test is of course the written one administered by Ibiki Morino. How will everything go and has Naruto slipped even further?! Time to find out!
A few months passed since The Land of Waves Mission. Not only was it a success but the Yondaime was able to forge an alliance with The Wave thanks to the efforts of Team 7. The mission was bumped up to an A-Rank Mission which naturally increased the pay, from $25 to $90 Konoha Dollars each. Afterwards, Team 7 took on D-Ranks and actual C-Ranks for a while. Until one day, Kakashi recommended them all for the Promotion Exams, which were a yearly examination when genin and chunin can enter to potentially earn a rank promotion. Of course, they all accepted. After that, they all started working hard to make sure that they would all pass the exam. Well all except one Naruto Uzumaki.
The reason for that was after accepting, he basically vanished. No one, not even Team 9 or his own family knew where he was. But no one thought too hard into it as they assumed he was training by himself and coming home really late while everyone slept. But soon, the participants in the Promotions Exams were about to be in for a scary awakening.
The date was March 4th, 1988. The day the Exams would begin. At the moment, Teams 7, 8, 9 and 10 were waiting inside the first test room. Other teams that were there included Team Suna, which consisted of siblings Temari, Kankuro and Gaara Sabaku, as well as a team from Otogakure, a village headed by Konoha Sannin and ally, Orochimaru Tadakoro. The members of Teams 7-10 were anxious because they were waiting on their intelligent blonde teammate. Well, brother, in Menma's case.
"Where could Naruto be? He would never miss something like this.", he said worriedly
"Don't worry, Menma. He'll be here.", reassured Sakura
"I agree.", said Shikamaru Nara of Team 10, "Like myself, he's highly intelligent. To miss something important like this would be stupid."
His teammates, Ino Yamanaka and Choji Akimichi, nodded in agreement.
"Whatever, no matter smart he is, he's no match for me.", gloated Team 8's Kiba Inuzuka
His teammates had separate reactions. While Hinata glared at him, Shino Aburame completely ignored the dog jutsu user's remark.
A few more minutes passed and there was still no sign of Naruto. Suddenly, two things happened at the same thing. A large POOF was heard and in front of class appeared various proctors. In the middle of them was the man in charge of this test, T.I.A head operator Ibiki Morino. However, before he could even speak, a gold three-pronged kunai slammed into the blackboard behind Ibiki, missing his head by a half-inch.
Everyone turned around and saw the perpetrator. It was a boy, dressed in red undershirt with a black tie, a black shirt over it and black pants. Over all of that was a sparkling purple trench coat. The boy had dark green hair, bleach white skin and white eyes (Not pupiless just the eye color is white). The only thing that made people realize who he was the three whiskers on both of his cheeks.
Naruto Tokugawa Uzumaki.
A full blast of his killer intent caused many in the downstairs area, who were still caught by the genjutsu, to either run in terror, scream like little girls, pee themselves or soil themselves.
"Sorry, I'm late guys.", he said before flashing a sick grin, "Oh wait, I just realized I missed. Bummer."
The fact that he was so casual after almost killing the head proctor scared many.
"Anyways.", said Ibiki after finally getting back in control, "This is the first part of the Promotion Exams. A 10 question written test. You have one hour to complete the first nine after which the tenth question will be given. For every question you get wrong, you lose a point. If you have 0 points by the end of the hour, you and your team fail. Begin!"
During the explanation, Naruto had reverted to his real appearance. His hair was golden yellow, his eyes were blue and his skin was still pale but not bleach white. Plus, he was wearing his classic black trench coat and white shirt with black pants again. Upon the signal to begin, he quickly answered all of the questions correctly, despite them being jonin-level questions. A select few were able to do the same, including Sakura, Hinata and Shikamaru. The rest resorted to various forms of hidden cheating, such as Sasuke with his Sharingan and Gaara with his sand powers. After finishing his test, he took some sheets of paper and began writing something. Ibiki chose to sneak a peak while watching the participants and saw he was writing songs. (One was Left Behind the other two will be revealed WHEN I do 'The Real Shadow the Hedgehog' story)
An hour later, the tenth question was announced and it was stated that anyone who did not wish to take the question should leave. Out of the 94 participants there (30 Teams with One 4-man Team), 48 of them aka 16 teams chose to quit. Teams that stayed included 7, 8, 9, 10, Suna and the Oto team. When no one else left, it was announced everyone passed. It was revealed that the test was meant to measure their information gathering skills and that there was no 10th question. Suddenly, a large purple blob came in through the window. It revealed itself to be Anko Mitarashi, the head proctor of the next exam.
"Heads up, you little punks. Name's Anko and I'm the next head proctor. Come with me to the second test.", she proclaimed
No one moved or said anything. Until a laugh broke out from Naruto. It was an eerie laugh considering how it sounded dark yet still innocent.
"Damn Ibiki. Your test must have been harsh. Only 15 teams.", said Anko not noticing the laughing blonde
"I don't think it was my test that caused that to leave.", said Ibiki with a small bit of fear pointing towards Naruto
Anko looked at the blonde who was still laughing darkly and raised her eyebrow.
"Something about this kid seems off. Even by my standards.", she thought uncomfortably.
Later that day, as Ibiki was collecting the tests, when he picked up Naruto's, he noticed an ominous message on the back.
What I'm going to do to some of the participants in the 2nd part will make me throwing a kunai at you seem like a joke...without a punchline
Ibiki shuttered at the message thinking, "How could a tween like him be so scary?"
Unfortunately, for some of the participants, they were about to find out how twisted Naruto could be to those with black hearts.
This story is starting to get darker. Perfect! Also, next time is the Forest of Death. How many people will Naruto end up killing? And with Orochimaru still loyal to Konoha, who will Team 7 encounter instead? Find out next time!
