Kane/J.J.

Waking up the next morning J.J. found Kane already out of bed. Getting up she found him in the main room with breakfast on the table. Her stomach instantly rebelled at the thought of food.

"J.J. I looked it up. The best way to clear a hangover is with fatty foods, so I got you some." Kane said quietly. "And plenty of fluids."

"I can't." J.J. said.

"Yes you can." Kane insisted coming over to her and gently hugging her. "Just a little bit." He added taking her hand and leading her to the table.

"Why are you doing this? Did we have a fight last night and I don't remember?" J.J. asked, sitting down.

"No, I just love you is all." Kane said.

J.J. smiled but didn't put any food on her plate.

It's so nice to hear him say that. He doesn't do it often so it means so much when he does. J.J. thought.

"Come on J.J. you need to eat if you're going to get over the hangover." Kane said.

"Aren't you hung over at all." J.J. asked.

"No, but I stuck mostly to beer." Kane said.

"Next time I'm sticking to water." J.J. said smiling.

Kane put some food on her plate and sat down near her to eat himself. He had to cajole her into eating most of it but she did.

"I'm going to take a shower. What's on the agenda for today?" J.J. said getting up.

"Mostly travel." Kane replied. "We're driving to the next town."

"Oh." J.J. said.

By the time she got out of the shower Kane had packed them completely and the food was gone.

"How's your head." Kane asked when she got out of the shower.

"Better." J.J. said, not really up for much conversation.

A few minutes later they headed out.

As they drove Kane held her hand, glancing over at her occasionally. It wasn't long before he caught her asleep. After a few hours Kane woke as he had stopped for lunch.

"J.J." Kane said. "We've stopped for a bit wake up."

J.J. opened her eyes, scrubbed her face and looked at her watch.

"Why did you let me sleep so long? The ride must have been boring for you." J.J. said.

"Because you needed the sleep and I'm used to boring rides." He replied laughing.

J.J. laughed. "Where are we?"

"About half way there. But I decided to stop for some food." Kane said.

"Ok." J.J. said looking around before getting out.

They went into the little diner and were seated right away.

When the waitress came over she looked at Kane then at J.J. and took J.J.'s order first. Then she looked at Kane and seemed to hesitate before taking his.

"You still got it babe." J.J. laughed.

"Got what."

"The ability to confuse wait staff with your presence." J.J. said still laughing.

"Yeah I guess I do." Kane said joining in the laughter.

While they ate they talked about the night before.

"Who do you think Vince will have you face for your first defense of the title?" J.J. asked as they headed back to the car. "You know he's going to try to make you lose it as soon as possible."

"Yeah. I've been thinking about that. My only hope is that he doesn't have me face Taker." Kane said, "That would be a problem."

"Yeah now that you two are working things out I'd hate to have that stopped by something." J.J. said.

"Even if I have to face him I'll try to keep in mind that it's just Vince trying to fuck us over and have a good match." Kane said.

"I know but if you have to face each other and he takes it away how will you feel." J.J. asked.

"I've thought about that already. I'll be angry but more at Vince for setting it up than at Taker for beating me." Kane said.

"Good. Because if Vince plays his usual game that is what he'll do. That or set some stipulation on whatever match he sets that makes it impossible for you to win." J.J. said.

"He thought last night's match was impossible for me to win but I did anyway. Just the look on his face was priceless. It was almost as good as the win." Kane said.

"Yeah, I got a good shot of it too I think." J.J. said.

"Well I want a copy of that if you did. It would be something to remember if I do lose it." Kane said.

"I'll see what I can do." J.J. said, laughing.

Finally J.J. turned on her favorite country station and they listened to music and chatted about nothing all the way to the next town.

Taker

Getting up Taker shook off the feeling of tiredness his restless night had given him.

Then he ordered some breakfast.

I hate driving from one event to another. Taker thought. Even back in the Ministry days it was boring and aggravating.

After finishing his breakfast he grabbed his bags and headed out with a sigh.

He couldn't help but think of J.J. and Kane making the same trip and wondering if it was boring for them.

For a moment he wished he'd put all his gear on the truck and taken the bike for the ride to the next town.

But the weather forecast isn't the greatest. He thought. I couldn't chance getting stuck in a storm on the bike.

Vince

"I can't believe Earl forced me to declare Kane the winner. Now what do I do with him. I can't let that burnt retard stay Intercontinental champ. I can't let him represent what is best about MY company." Vince griped pacing in his hotel room. "There has to be a way to take it away. If I can't legally take it away like it never happened he has to lose it immediately as if winning were a fluke. But how, who can I be sure will beat him."

"Jerico is already begging for a rematch but he lost so easily I know he'll just screw it up. Who else has earned a shot?" Vince asked himself continuing to pace.

DX

"I still can't believe that burnt freak won." Hunter said to the others. "With everything I did to prevent it."

"It wasn't your fault it was Earl Hebners." Jessie said trying to placate their leader.

"You're right but Vince blames me. Said he should take my title away. NO one is getting this title from me. NO ONE!" Hunter said violently.

You should have done your job and then Earl couldn't have butted in. Chyna thought. Course then Kane would have won way earlier than he did. She added to herself.

"Take it easy Hunter. No one has earned a shot at your title and even if someone had you could beat anyone in the company." Road Dogg said.

"I know that Dogg." Hunter said. "But what's stopping Vince from turning on me, he's done it to others before."

X-Pac

Packing his gear X-Pac was just in time to see J.J. and Kane leave together.

She doesn't look so good. I wonder if they went out and celebrated last night. Kane deserves that title and the celebration that goes with winning it.

I can't believe how blatant Hunter was with his bias refereeing. He couldn't have made it easier to have the decision overturned by Earl. Even I know as guest ref you have to do the job or do a damn good job pretending to. X-Pac thought smiling as he watched them leave.

Kane/J.J.

"Gee I hope Taker didn't take the bike." J.J. said as the rain began to fall. "I'd hate for him to be stuck in this on it."

"I'm sure he looked at the weather last night." Kane said sounding unconcerned.

"I hope you're right." J.J. said.

"We'll be there soon." Kane said. "If you want we can go by the arena and check to see that his bike is on the truck."

"I'd like that." J.J. said.

She always worries about other people. It's one of the things I love about her. Kane thought, remembering the first time she yelled at him because she was worried.

I bet she yells at Taker if he does have the bike. He thought smiling.

"What's so funny?" J.J. asked seeing his sudden smile.

"You." He replied.

"What because I'm worried about Taker? I can't help it he's your brother; even after everything now that you are back together I'm worried what will happen if…well if." J.J. said.

"I know that is what is funny." Kane said, beginning to laugh.

"That's it buster. You're sleeping on the couch tonight." J.J. said laughing.

"No way…I won't fit." Kane said.

"That's your problem." J.J. said still laughing.

She better not be serious. Kane thought. If she is I I'm screwed.

"Don't worry babe I'm kidding." J.J. said as if she could read his mind.

"Stay out of my brain." Kane said laughing.

"Can't help it you are so easy to read." J.J. said laughing again.

"Can you read Taker like you can me?" Kane asked suddenly.

"No he controls his body language too much. Sometimes I can read something like the night he attacked me. I knew he was about to do something. I just didn't know what." J.J. said. "So sometimes something slips through but mostly no."

"Am I easy to read in the ring?" Kane asked.

"Only when you are waiting for someone or on the mic." J.J. said. "Otherwise things move to fast for me to read your body language. It's like you think and do it at nearly the same time so there is no body language to read. Why do you ask?"

"Because if you can do it so can someone else." Kane said.

"Kane most people don't pay attention to body language. I like to watch people so I do. I'm not saying someone else can't but most people don't bother." J.J. said.

"I'll bet Taker does. That's how he knows just how to intimidate his opponents." Kane said.

"Why don't you ask him?" J.J. said.

I wonder if he'd tell me. Kane thought to himself.

"Maybe I will." Kane said even as they pulled up in front of the arena.

Together they got out of the car and ran toward the arena through the rain.

They were stopped at the door by security.

"Sorry arena isn't open." The security guard said.

"We're with the WWE." Kane said showing his ID. "We need to check on a piece of equipment then we'll be gone."

"What about you?" he asked J.J.

"Here is my ID I'm with the company too." J.J. said producing her ID.

The guard let them in.

"Thanks." J.J. called over her shoulder as they entered.

Going into the open backstage area they found the bike.

"There are you happy now." Kane said laughing.

"Yes dear." J.J. said. "Let's get back to the hotel and get something to eat. I'm starved."

"As you wish." Kane laughed as they headed back out.

Taker

Walking down the hall Taker turned the corner and nearly walking into Kane.

"What are you doing here?" Kane and Taker said at the same time.

"I'm here to check on the bike." Taker said.

"In a way so were we." Kane said.

"What?" Taker said, actually sounding confused.

"J.J. was worried that you had taken the bike to get here. She was afraid you'd be stuck out in the storm with it." Kane said.

"Really." Taker asked still sounding confused.

"Yes," Kane said. "She loves to worry."

"I do not." J.J. quickly answered.

"You were actually worried about me?" Taker said, looking askance at J.J. How can she worry about me? Why would she worry about me after all I did? Taker wondered.

"Well yes." J.J. said shyly. "I Was concerned that you could be injured if you were out in the storm."

"Well that's nice." Taker said, still sounding a bit confused.

"The bike is fine." Kane said. "We were just heading back to the hotel to get something to eat. Do you want to join us?"

"Sounds good." Taker said glad to change the subject.

The three of them left heading back to the hotel.

Once there they decided to head up to Kane and J.J.'s room to eat there, lest they announce that they are working together for sure.
