Hello guys,

I just want to make some things clear. As you all know I said in last chapter that Damon met Elena before, of course I'm talking about the famous accident where Elena's parents die. Instead of Stefan saving Elena, Damon did. This will come up in later chapters.

Also: I would like to note that I'm doing the best I can with giving Katherine her famous cocky character.

+ Yes Damon is a bit less "badboy" here then in the first seasons but I think you can compare Damon to the Damon from season 5/6.

Chapter 10 – Open your eyes to my love.

"Relationships last long not because they're destined to last long. Relationships last long because two brave people made a choice…

Elena:

It was nearly 7 o'clock when I decided to get dressed. A few days has past since I seen Damon. He hasn't been at school or didn't call me at all. Of course I told him to leave me alone, but after some thinking I realized how selfish it was from me to blame him for everything. Katherine manipulated him obviously. If his "unbiological twin" would have been at my door I guess I would have thought it was him too. Seeing she was supposed to be dead for like 60 years.

My phone rang and it broke my thoughts. I picked up when I saw it was Bonnie. "Hey Bon." I answered. "Hey you want to have a ride today?" I thought about it for a moment and then I decided to take things in my own hands. "No, I'm not coming to school today, I will visit my uncle in the hospital, I promised it to Jenna" "Mh, okay, good luck Elena!" "Thanks!" Bonnie was always too friendly but I couldn't tell her about the whole situation, not now anyways.

I grabbed my car keys and decided to drive to the boarding house. Once I reached it I walked upon the door still in doubt if I should just turn around and leave, but once I heard a scream from the inside I just opened it. I looked inside the house but nobody to be seen. I walked in and came into the living room. "Damon" I shouted, nothing. "Stefan" also nothing. I wondered where they were off too. Then I heard another scream sounding like from coming out of the garden.

I walked into the garden only to see Damon holding Caroline from behind in some sort of Kung Fu grip. "Now push you arms out to the side and bump your hips back" he told her. Sounding way too weird. I coughed to let them know my presence. Damon looked up and immediately let go of Caroline.

"Elena" Caroline smiled and came rushing to me giving me a big hug. "Hey Care, how are you?" She smiled and looked at me. "Better then expected" I nodded. "You look good" I said, because she really did. I looked past Caroline to Damon whom was standing awkwardly with his hand in his hair.

Caroline looked back and probably saw the awkwardness between us as she said; "I got some place I gotta be" and with that she walked off into the house. I walked down the steps to Damon. "Hey" I said gently. He smirked, god how relieved I was when I saw that typical Damon smirk on his smuggy face. "Hey, missed me already?" He wiggled his eyebrows at me. I gave him a thud with my elbow. "Get over yourself" He smiled at me and gave me a quick peck on my cheek. I felt myself blushing.

"I came here because I wanted to talk to you about everything, and since you haven't been in school much" He nodded. "I was trying to track down Katherine, plus I needed to help Caroline getting everything sorted out, that's why I took 2 weeks off" I frowned. "Why do you need to track down Katherine?" Damon sighed. "Well after everything that's happened I just wanted some answers and maybe, I don't know, kill the bitch perhaps" I opened my mouth to say something, but no words came out.

"Look Elena, I'm sorry that I kissed her back, she threw herself on me, and I would have never thought it could be someone else then you." I nodded. "Well I've been thinking about it a lot, and I think I was a little exaggerating about the whole issue, I guess you couldn't have known." He smiled and me and sighed with relief. "I'm glad to hear that, I'm trying to hunt her down to tell her to leave you the hell alone, but so far nothing." He grabbed my wrist and pulled me into his chest.

I smiled against his chest and just realized how much I actually missed being with him, how good he smells and how comfortable he made me feel. He rested his head against my hair as I laid my head in the gap of his shoulder. "I would never let someone hurt you, not even that psychotic bitch" I giggled against his chest and couldn't feel any saver.

"Talking about me?" I heard the familiar voice of Katherine and felt Damon's body launch back from me.

Damon:

"Katherine" She smiled at us and took a few steps closer. "Hi cutie, missed me?" She said as she bowed her head to the left and smiled at us. I quickly grabbed Elena's wrist and pulled her back to me standing now in front of her. "What are you doing here Katherine" She made some clicks with her tongue. "Oh Damon sweetie, didn't you enjoy our last meeting?" She said as she grinned at Elena.

I felt Elena holding the back of my shirt. "Leave Katherine, you have no business here" I gritted through my teeth. She fake laughed at me. "Oh Damon, how do you know I don't?" I narrowed my eyes. "I'm here for a special person" She said as came closer and traced my stomach with her nail. I grabbed her wrist and threw her to the ground with my vampire speed. She got up before I even had the chance to attack her again and got to a wooden chair from our garden sets. As she was breaking it in pieces I was running towards Elena.

As I ran half way I felt a terrible pain in my stomach. I looked down to see the wooden stake and I felt on my knees grunting from the pain. "No no, you're doing it all wrong; this poor little Caroline has such a bad teacher." She said to me as she lifted my chin with her index finger.

Her glance got to Elena whom was now standing alone in the middle of the garden. As I saw her vampire teeth go out I saw Elena's face getting paler. "Elena Run!" I shouted towards her. Elena started running as I was trying to get the stake out of me. Once I got it out and ran towards them Katherine already was with Elena holding her neck standing behind her.

"Katherine, don't you dare!" I shouted towards her angrily. "You hear that sweet Elena, he's provoking me, didn't Stefan tell you what happens when you provoke me?" I saw Elena swallow and she was looking at me with the tears in her eyes. "Damon" Elena whispered to me. I hold my hands up in the air. "Katherine don't" I threatened her. "What do you think Elena, I can always do what I did to your uncle John, unfortunately there aren't any knifes here" I looked at Elena whose eyes were getting bigger. I didn't know what Katherine was talking about but apparently she did something to Elena's uncle, what's making me now even madder.

"I think you should let me go, you had enough fun for today." Elena hissed under her breath. Katherine laughed and threw her hair back. "Maybe you're right" She let go of Elena and pushed her towards me only for me to catch her in my arms. She hold on to me tightly and I kissed the top of her head. I heard Katherine snort and looked up to her angry. "Go away Katherine, go home" She smiled. "This is my home"

She turned around to walk away but paused midst, "Oh Elena" She said while turning back to us. "Maybe I didn't kill you now, but your uncle was just a start, let's see how Aunt Jenna and Jeremy like me next time." I felt Elena quiver and Katherine vanished between the trees.

"You okay?" I asked Elena carefully. "I'm fine" she said while looking up to me. I sighed from relieve. "This bitch, I'm going to kill her" I said with rage. Elena smiled at me. "Take it easy bad boy" I smiled back at her and winked. "I guess everything is okay now between us?" I asked her carefully. She pinched my cheek. "I guess so, but I think we gotta talk about what's going on between us" I nodded, understanding where she was going.

I walked inside the house, Elena following me. When I entered the kitchen Caroline was talking with Stefan about Bonnie. "We have to tell Elena" I heard Caroline say to Stefan. I coughed to make them now we we're entering the room, good thing Elena doesn't have vampire hearing.

We walked into and they we're just casually leaning against the counter. "Everything okay here?" Elena asked them probably because they looked a bit too acted. Caroline smiled. "You guys look pampered" She said to us. "Well maybe if you guys were less talking and more hearing you could have heard we attacked by a certain doppelganger." I said sarcastically.

Caroline's eyes widened and she walked towards us. "Elena are you okay?" She asked while placing her hand on her arm. "I'm fine blondie" I said walking past her to my brother. Elena nodded at her. "So how you guys gonna handle this whole situation" Stefan asked us. "Well clearly she wants something from us, she attacked Elena's Uncle John and threatened the rest of her family, and obviously she changed Caroline for the same reason."

"Well that wasn't what I was talking about" Stefan said as I took a quick glance at Elena. She raised her brow and looked confused at Stefan. "I'm talking about you guys relationship" Elena narrowed her eyes as a warning and quickly looked at Caroline. Caroline smiled and walked away. "Don't worry, I don't know anything" She said while walking in the living room.

I grinned and went with my hand through my hair. "Well, Elena and I didn't really talk about that yet" I saw her blushing and looking at her feet. "Well maybe you guys should sort some things out" Stefan said while walking out the room. Elena walked to me and leaned against the counter. "So..." I was standing in front of her looking at her blushing. She bit her bottom lip. "Elena don't do that please" She looked up to me. "Do what?" I walked in front of her and lifted her chin with my index finger. "Biting your lip"

She grinned. "And why not mister Salvatore" I grinned back at her. "Because it extremely turns me on" I saw Elena blushing and she bit her lip again. "Elena..." She quickly let go of it. "I didn't even notice..." She said innocently. "We really need to talk when it goes out of hand" She nodded. "Yea, I got that now"

"What were gonna do from here, it's obvious there is something between us." Elena said quietly. I nodded in agreement and got two glasses out of the cabin. "Drink?" I said wiggling the bourbon in front of her. "No thanks, I didn't know vampire's could drink" She noticed. "Of course, it helps with the cravings. Stefan makes a lousy vampire in that case though" She laughed. "Why is that?"

I told her about Stefan's diet and how he becomes a ripper when he doesn't control his thirst. "He must have been through a lot" I nodded. "Yea, I even envy him in some sort, I mean, I would never give up my way of living, I like drinking straight out of someone's neck. I eat and erase, best method" I saw Elena getting a little uncomfortable. "Don't worry Elena, I won't hurt you" She smiled. "I know" she asnwered pretty fast.

"Do you?" I smirked while stroking her side with my hand. "Well otherwise you wouldn't give me this necklace would you" I looked at the pendant around her neck and back to her. There was an evil smirk on her face, she was on to me. "How did you find out." She nodded to the corridor. "Stefan" I looked that was seeing Stefan waving his hand in the air. "Ass" I said just so he could hear it. Elena let out a little giggle, making her even cuter then possible.

"You got to explain some stuff about Katherine though" She said quietly. "Well, to start, we met Katherine in 1864. She was mesmerizing, she was charming and seductive and had a way of speaking that could get any boy into bed. But she was also selfish and obsessed with power, which made her weak on some points. She loved both me and my brother but she never told us she was seeing both, although she compelled Stefan into drinking her blood she never compelled me, it was all real to me. I thought she loved only me, and that she would eventually turn me to be with her forever." Elena's doe eyes looked to me with sorrow. "I guess she never loved me enough to actually seek me down all this time and start a live with me."

Elena sighed and took my hand in hers. "You deserve better then that, and so does Stefan, I hope there isn't a grudge between you two for this, because when I met you both at the cemetery there was some weird tension between you two."

Damon smirked. "That was just because I thought Stefan had his humanity turned off and maybe wanted to feed from you, plus I didn't want you to find out about the whole vampire thing then"

"Well, it would have been better if you just have told me about the whole vampire thing, because the way I found out, I'm trying to shut it out, but it still haunts my sleep now and then." Elena explained to me. "I tried to tell you, but you didn't really take it well, so I compelled you to forget and gave you that necklace after that, because I didn't want to compel you ever again, you didn't knew me that well then, I wanted to tell you later and not be able to reverse it"

She smiled. "Well I'm glad I know, I still think it's weird this whole fantasy world thing and I'm sure I have a lot to learn about your world, but I don't know different anymore now." I traced her spine with my finger as I pulled her closer. "I'm glad to hear that" I said while smirking down on her, feeling her breath on my face.

She blushed and put her hands on my chest as she looked to the corridor where Stefan and Caroline were drinking and talking. "Damon, not here" I giggled as an innocent, sixteen year old school girl. "Well if you want I can take you upstairs, to my bedroom" Her face became all red and she slapped me on the chest. "Damon" She whispered annoyed. "Elena" I mocked her.

"I'm not doing this with you again" She said as she walked out of my grip towards Caroline and Stefan. I grinned and walked after her, enjoy her company way too much.

Elena:

"So you just going to tell Elena?" I walked in on them and looked at Caroline. "Tell me what?" I said as I sat down across from them. Stefan looked up to me and smiled. "Nothing important" I frowned. "Well, what do you need to tell me then if it's not that important you can just tell." Caroline's eyes shot from Stefan to Damon and bit her lip. "Caroline?" I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Oh god, why do I always have to tell everything" She said as she threw her hands in the air. She crossed her legs and looked at me with her big, blue eyes. She pouted her lips. "Well, Bonnie is a witch" I smiled. "I know that" I said as I got my drink from Damon. I took a sip spitting it out immediately. I felt the alcohol burning in my throat. Ew, Bourbon...

"No Elena, you see Bonnie is a real witch, with the hocuspokus and well" I giggled. "Really Caroline, hocuspokus?" I laughed. "Yes, she made me my daylight ring" She said while sticking her hand out, I studied the ring and looked at Damon confused. "It makes us walk in the daylight" He quickly added. I nodded in understand. "Looks... big?" I stated.

"Yea, so Bonnie is a witch" She was trying to convince me again. "Caroline, she showed me already." Caroline frowned. "So she told you first" She said while crossing her arms. "Well I don't know, she came to me when I found out that you guys were a vampire and showed me things" Damon said down next to me on the arm chair and stroked my spine. I felt the chills running up my legs to my stomach and more.

"So what we going to do about Katherine?" I said in the open air. We were all looking to one another. "I don't want her to hurt aunt Jenna or Jeremy like she did with Uncle John, she cut off his fingers" Caroline's face went from perky to disgust. Stefan looked at Damon with concern. "Well I think we have to kill her before she does anything, or hear her out about what she wants." Damon nodded. "Was she ever even in that tomb?" Stefan asked Damon. I frowned at Damon with confusion, this conversation I could not mingle in. So many things I didn't know.

"I guess she wasn't, Anna told me she should have been in there though, she has even has that necklace from Bonnie's ancestor Emily." Stefan got up and paced around the room. "I need a drink" Caroline said while getting up quickly and she shifted out of the room.

"I guess I can't be of any help, maybe I should go home for now? I missed school and Jenna can be home any time now" Damon nodded. "I walk you to the door." He came next to me and walked with me to the big wooden door of the boarding house. "Elena, please don't worry too much about Katherine, if something happens call me immediately, even if you think it's a false alarm." I nodded. "I get it" I said quickly. He opened the door for me. I turned to him, tiptoed, and gave him a quick kiss on his lips. He smiled and pulled me back, kissing me again but lasting a little longer. "I'm glad we can sort things out"

"Me too, we just need to be careful at school thought, I don't want you to lose your job because of me." He gave me half a smile. "Don't worry Elena, being a vampire has its perks" I smiled. "I bet it does" I said playfully before taking my leave and waving at him.

Once I got home Jenna wasn't there yet. I heard Jeremy's loud music coming from above feeling rather suspicious I went upstairs to check every room for any sign of Katherine. Once I entered Jeremy's room I saw him on bed listening to some music with his headphones in. I closed his door quietly and went into my room. I heard the crane running and quickly peeked into the bathroom.

"Hello Elena" Anna said with her big brown eyes. She had this black long hair and she was kind of small. Her face was round with a little bit of blow up cheeks. She smiled at me. "Hi Anna, I'm sorry I didn't know you were in here" I said. "It's fine, Jeremy lend me the bedroom for when I was thirsty.

She went to the tub and grabbed some sort of bag with a hospital sign on it. When I saw a little amount of red substance in it, it hit me. "Anna, when did you-" She smirked. "Please Elena, you don't need to worry, I actually like your brother" she said and it actually felt sincere. "You better not hurt Jeremy" I warned her. She frowned. "Elena, I got him from drugs and booze, he likes my world, you should be happy after the warnings you gave Vicki" She said while walking back into Jeremy's room and closing the door behind her.

I walked back into my room and sat down on my bed. My knees felt heavy and so did my head. I heard rumbling with the front door and quickly peeked downstairs. I saw nothing and decided to take small steps down the stairs. "Jenna" I whispered, well more like squeaked.

I took my last step and turned to the kitchen. Nobody. I walked back and bumped into someone. I screamed and so did the other person. When I finally got my senses back together I saw it was Jenna. "My god Jenna you scared me." I said to her. "I scared you? You scared the hell out of me" She said with still heavy breathing. "Sorry, I'm a bit jumpy today." She laughed. "I noticed" I walked back to the stairs. "Dinner will be rather in thirty" I nodded and got upstairs.

I sat down on my bed hearing the leaves crack outside and the branches making sounds in the wind. I sighed and somehow felt very terrified. I took a quick shower and dried my hair. I heard Jenna calling us for dinner.

After I ate dinner I went back upstairs. I got dressed in my pj's and decided to sleep early, since my head was hurting so bad. I lay down on my bed and covered me in the blankets.

I heard the window going up and quickly shot up out of bed, not knowing what time it was, but it was very dark. I could only make out a figure. The person walked up to me and pushed me against the wall. I couldn't make out whom it was but I just kicked and let my hands fly around me, trying to defend myself.

I heard a loud growl and saw the fangs coming out in the moonlight. As the lunged out me I screamed out as hard as I could.

I shot up in my bed feeling all sweaty and could stop with breathing heavy. I quickly got my phone from my night stand and dialed the number that first popped up in my mind.

"Damon!" I said into the phone.
