I wasn't going to post another chapter until Christmas, but something happened over the weekend and I figured I'd post a chapter in remembrance.

For those who haven't heard yet, Paul Walker, the guy who plays Brian O'Conner, died in a car accident. I don't know the full details, but I did hear rumors of a Fast and Furious 7 in the works for next year and he was supposed to play in it. If that is true, they're going to have a hell of a time trying to replace him.

Chapter 10

After laying out the new plan, everybody gets to work and in a few scant hours, everything was just about done. Brian and Dom where putting the finishing touches on two of the Chargers, which had been repainted to a flat black color. I felt like I did right before a job: wide-awake, alert, and ready to go. The adrenaline was just waiting for the right moment to start surging through my veins. That time was almost upon us. I couldn't wait. This was going to be one hell of an adrenaline rush.

I look over at Rome where I stood with him, Tej, and Han for these last few minutes. "Watch his back."

"What about me?" He feigns being hurt. He knew who I was talking about and it wasn't him.

"I know I don't have to worry about your insane ass, Barstow." I glance over to where Vince's body had been. "We've already had one death, we don't need another one."

"You lost someone on a job, didn't you?" Tej asks. I just nod and head for Hellraiser and jumping up in the bed. Giving Han a nod, I proceed to go over every weapon she carried.

"Kira did have her own crew, but then they split up to set their lives straight. One got pregnant with her boyfriend's kid and both of them head off to raise it. Then when they lost another of her friends and almost lost the boyfriend with her, he quit. She's been on her own since. Pulling this heist with us is her first in over a year." I heard Han explain softly.

"That's your girl, man, are you really going to let her place herself in danger like this?" Rome asks him after a few minutes of silence. I smile and listen for Han's reply.

"She knows what she's doing. Brian wouldn't have called her if she hadn't."

"She's a keeper. Not many women would be willing to do the things she has. I may have known her but a few minutes, but I can tell any guy who has her attention is one lucky son of a bitch." I look up to stare at Hobbs, completely surprised. He looks over at Han. "Don't ever let her go. The minute you do, you're going to regret it." Shocked, I watch as he goes back over to his truck and where Elena waited before turning my shocked look on Han. He's giving me his own surprised look. That had been completely unexpected.

I was sitting in Hellraiser's cab later that night, compiling a playlist, when I felt the truck move. Looking back, I find Hobbs is looking over my weapons more carefully. I turn so I'm sitting sideways in the seat and rest an elbow on the open rear window.

"Making sure they're all legal?" I smile at him.

"Are they?" He shot back.

"The only thing that's legal are the pistols I carry."

"I'll take that as a no, then. Where did you get a bazooka?"

"Black Market and that's all I'll say on the subject." I reply.

"You know I'll find out." I knew he was trying to intimidate me into telling.

I nod. "Knock yourself out."

He leans against the cab. "What made you want to get into a life of crime? I'd figure, being a female, you'd be smarter than your brother."

"I'm an adrenaline junkie. I started street racing when I turned nineteen as I got Reaper for my birthday. The races I won helped me through school when I had no parents as our dad had died when we were really young and our mom had died when I was six. Brian had been eleven at the time. Losing her really hurt him and I was doubting if he'd ever get over it. After I finished high school, I met up with some friends and we formed a crew of sorts, doing whatever jobs we could get our hands on, except for running drugs and booze. That was dangerous territory and we wouldn't fool around there. Besides satisfying our need for a rush, the cash we earned helped the rest of the crew with their families. One had an ailing mother, one was helping a pregnant sister since the baby's father refused to acknowledge it was his, and the other just wanted to provide for their family, helping his sisters through school. With both parents dead and Brian MIA, I was able to put away my share into the bank. Last year the crew split up. One girl gets pregnant by her boyfriend and the two split off to raise the kid. Then when we lost another girl and almost her boyfriend in the same job, he quit. Now it's just me, doing what I do best, race. Until Brian called with the heads up, it had been kinda slow." I explain. "Pulling this heist will satisfy my need for a rush for a while." I grin up at him. "I may be a female, Hobbs, but I'm also an O'Conner and O'Conner's are born troublemakers."

"You'd think you would ever make it as a cop?" He asked and I couldn't tell if he was trying to hint at something or what.

"With my record, I highly doubt they'll even consider me." I muse. "Besides, there isn't much of a rush gained from being a cop."

"How about a special agent?"

Now I saw it. With his team dead, he was already scouting for potential and with my armory, I guess he saw something in me. "I guess there'd be more of a chance of a rush, with traveling the world and all sorts of nifty gadgets."

"You know, I could pull some strings and make that record of yours vanish."

"Are you looking to recruit me to your team, Hobbs?"

"I will not deny I am impressed by this demon of yours. Very impressed. With the amount of firepower it carries one would think you were FBI or even a special agent. My team were the best of the best with their own special areas of expertise. You, with your ability to use any weapon handed to you and your hacking skills, makes you a worthy candidate. With your skills, you would be a valued asset to the team."

"You are scouting me." I grin. "I'm flattered you'd see potential in the little sister of a man who you're supposed to be after."

"Don't rub it in."

I lift myself out though the rear window and sit on the toolbox. "I don't deny your proposal interests me, but I really don't know. Brian's the only family I have left and I wouldn't be able to hunt him down. His girlfriend? Mia Toretto? She's pregnant with his kid and I just couldn't bear for my niece or nephew to grow up without a father, like we had to. With this heist, Brian O'Conner and Mia Toretto will disappear. They'll get new names and they'll be a family, raising the child like a child should be raised, with loving parents."

"Their names landed on my desk, I have to bring them in."

I shook my head. "You don't have to. The only reason why their names hit your desk was because they sprang Dom as he was being transferred to Lompoc. You can let them go to live their lives right and claim they escaped. It happens."

"I can't just let them go that easily. I've always gotten my man and the fact that your brother now has a family to look after won't stop me from hunting him down."

Rising, I walked to the back of the bed and looked out at the rest of the dark warehouse beyond, thinking. How could I get him to let Brian and Dom go? A slow minute later, I realized the answer was sitting right in front of me. I turned back to him. "Say I did say I would think about it, what would you offer as an incentive?"

He looks at me for a minute before a smile breaks out. "Negotiating for your brother?"

"Not just for him, for Toretto as well."

"You don't come cheap, do you?" He asked after another minute.

"You're the one who saw my potential." I shot back, crossing my arms across my chest.

After a minute of regarding me, a soft laugh emerged, probably trying not to wake the rest who were getting some rest before the big heist tomorrow. "You've got spirit. I like that in a woman." He studied me for a long minute. "Tell you what." He rose from where he had been leaning against the cab. "You think about joining my team and I'll think about letting your brother and Toretto go. Even though they saved my life, letting them go won't come cheap."

"Letting them go is the price you'll have to pay to gain my abilities." I replied, meeting him gaze for gaze.

"Not only are you spirited, you're spunky too. Even though I'm right in your face, you're not backing down."

"Unlike everybody else, I know that even though you may act all tough like a grizzly on the outside, you're a good guy on the inside. You're only doing what's right." I tell him softly. "Besides," I smile at him and look him up and down. He wasn't a bad looking guy. "I'm a big girl and I know how to take care of myself. And right now, I'm going to get some sleep. We've got one hell of a day ahead of us tomorrow and I'm going to need every bit of rest I can get." I patted his chest and hopped over the tailgate. "Goodnight Luke." Shutting my laptop to send it to sleep and preserve the battery, I left him standing in Hellraiser's bed.

I do a sweep of everybody's location, making sure everything is as it should before I find my own bed. Dom was in the office type looking room on the couch, Brian and Mia were curled up on a nearby mattress and I had to smile at that. They looked so cute together. I was glad Brian had found somebody to fill the hole created by the passing of our mother. Leo and Santo were camped out in the back of the van while Rome and Tej were stretched out on chairs. I was walking by Han where he slept on the couch, heading to crash in Reaper's backseat, when a hand grabbed my belt at the same time I spotted Hobbs disappear into his tank, no doubt finding his own resting spot inside familiar territory.

"You're supposed to be sleeping." I hiss softly. He gives a gentle tug and shifts to lay against the back of the couch, making it obvious he wanted me to sleep with him on the couch. I roll my eyes but lay down facing him. I nuzzle into his shirt as his arms wrap around me, holding me close.

"What'd he want?" He asked softly.

"He thinks I'd make a good addition to his new team with my skills." I reply. "He said he'd clear my record if I joined him."

"What'd you say?"

I smile up at him. "You know I don't come cheap. I told him the price for me joining his team would have to be him letting Dom and Brian go."

"He won't let them go. After this, he'll go back to hunting them." He told me.

"I told him I'd think about joining him if he would think about letting them go." I answer.

"Are you really going to think about it?" He seemed worried.

"I'll make the decision if I find out he's gone after Dom and Brian after this. But right now, I've got a world tour planned with a sexy cop." I smile up at him. A smile down at me, a gentle kiss and we drift off.

I think I'm going to start watching Fast 1 and 2 back to back for a while.
