"Do you think people would ever forgive you for doing something you regret?" Monobear's voice giggled as he sat in a massive chair in front of a bunch of monitors. He waved around a wine glass while staring over a table to a figure covered in darkness. The figure looked down at their feet, not even touching the glass of tea Monobear laid out for them.
"I haven't done anything I regret." the person replied, causing Monobear to laugh again.
"Not yet." the bear said. "I'm glad you decided to show up tonight! I have some very exciting and despair-inducing news!"
"And that would be?"
"We got ourselves a total of two corpses!" Monobear stood up and threw his paws into the air. "A double murder mystery trial! It's what everyone's been waiting for!"
"T-Two?" the figure asked with a scared tone of voice. "How are you supposed to execute two people?"
"Oh, no, no, no!" Monobear fell back to his bum and stroked his face. "One of the killers is one of the corpses now!"
"They killed themselves?!"
"Upupu! Another student walked in on the act and took care of business. Your poor classmates were murdered in front of each other. How sad."
"Who are they?" the person asked. "Who died?"
"Those two poor girls," Monobear replied, "One choked on her own vomit, and the other bled out on the floor. Wonderful! The boys sure are lucky, only one of them is dead!"
"You haven't answered my question yet." the figure spoke. "Who is the sixteenth student? Where are they?"
"Oh, look at the time!" Monobear cried out. "It's nearly the end of Night Time! Get back to your room before I punish you!"
"...Very well..."
The seven remaining students met in the cafeteria the morning after Monobear stole the book from them. Valerie and Jade sat at a table with Grey, and the three of them were having a conversation about whether or not to hold a pool tournament in the game room later that day, just to lighten the mood. Holden, Ariana, and Ace sat at the table next to the one where the other students were. Ariana and Ace were talking about fighting techniques while Holden remained silent. Amp sat next to Holden, and he seemed cheery as ever.
"So, guys!" Amp cried. "Didja' hear that Val and Jade might hold a pool tourney? I'd totally cream you dudes!"
"Don't count on it." Ariana said. "Monobear wouldn't let us have any fun in here."
"I think all this is kind of fun." Amp replied to Ariana. "Besides all the death... That's sad."
"Hey...?" Ace asked as he looked around. "Are the girls still in their rooms?"
"Amy and Sophie?" Amp looked around. "I thought they were already in here."
"It seems they're late for once." Valerie as she butted into the conversation. "I saw Amy's door was left ajar when I came down here."
"Should we go check to see if they're in there?" Jade asked.
"It would probably be best." Ariana said as she stood up. "We should make sure Sophie hasn't gotten her hands on anymore razors. I found some lying in the art room after Vashti's trial, and they weren't there when we first checked out that room."
The students stood from their seats before heading over to the dormitories. Amy's door was left open, just as Valerie had said, so they slowly crept into the room, looking around to see if she was present. It was clear that Amy wasn't in her room, and Amp looked worried.
"Where is she?" he muttered. "She's not dead, is she?"
"I'm sure she's not." Holden said. "Maybe she's in Sophie's room."
Amp quickly dashed out of Amy's room and over to Sophie's door which was unlocked. The other students followed Amp into Sophie's room, which was also missing either of the two girls. Amp fell to his knees and buried his face in his hands.
"Not again!" he cried. "Not them!"
"Check the locker room, or the music room." Grey said. "Those seem like places they'd be."
"What this?" Jade asked, walking over to Sophie's end bed. A book sat on the covers, and an uncapped pen sat beside it. Jade picked the book up and peered inside. "Sophie's diary?"
"We really shouldn't be reading other people's diaries." Holden said. "It's a little rude."
"I think it's a good thing I picked this up." Jade said as he flipped to the last page with writing on it. "Sophie's insane. The last page says she plans to... kill Amy so Monobear wouldn't touch her family..."
"Plot twist." Grey chuckled.
"They were both with us last night." Ace pointed out. "They walked downstairs with us, right?"
"No." Amp cried. "Amy had to use the restroom. Sophie went with her. I just went back to my room; I didn't know Sophie was crazy."
"I guess we better check the girl's bathroom on the second floor, shall we?" Valerie asked. The others agreed and left for the bathroom, Amp lagging behind the group.
They stood outside of the bathroom door. It was quiet, aside from the sounds of Amp's heavy breathing. Holden and Jade stood by Amp, trying to comfort him as Ariana peaked inside the bathroom. She quickly pulled her head back out into the hall and looked over to Amp.
"Amp, you might want to turn away." she said. "It's worse than we thought."
Amp buried his face in his hands as Ariana swung the door open, revealing both of the girls. Amy lay on the left side of the room. Her face was almost unrecognizable and she sat in a pool of dried blood. Sophie lay next to her, her eyes froze open. Her face was caked in her own dried vomit, and her arm was bent in an uncomfortable position. The televisions surged to life to reveal a live video of Monobear giggling on the screen.
"Bing, bong, bing, you bastards!" he cried. "We've got ourselves two bodies!" Amp cringed where he stood as he heard Monobear speak. "Following a brief period of investigation, we'll hold our class trial! We've got a very special day ahead of us, don't we!?" The bear fell over in laughter before the televisions flipped off. Amp fell to the ground and began bawling.
"Just leave me here to die." he sobbed.
"Jade, please take Amp away from here." Valerie ordered. "I'm going to be investigating the bodies and I don't want him to be in the way if he's just going to sit there and cry."
"Take it easy, Val." Grey said. "He just lost two of his best friends in here."
"I understand that, but now my life is on the line and I don't plan on dying in here." Valerie said. "If he doesn't want to take part in the investigation, then he's useless here."
"Ok." Amp muttered. "I'll make myself disappear. Don't worry."
The boy pulled himself up to his feet and slowly walked away. Jade chased after him as Ace walked off towards the stairs to do his own investigation. Valerie and Ariana entered the bathroom to look at the bodies. Holden and Grey stood around the hallway, looking for any possible clues.
Amp sat by the door to the elevator. He wasn't going to do anything, or wanted to do anything for that matter. Jade sat by the boy, making sure he was ok. Amp never acknowledged Jade, and just stared at the elevator door. Jade remained quiet as well, reading Sophie's diary as he waited for the trial to begin. Holden soon joined the two, as he didn't have much to investigate. The pink haired boy opened his mouth to speak, but was cut off when Monobear appeared on the television.
"Lazy, lazy, lazy!" he buzzed through the speakers, "Sitting here while all your classmates are investigating. What a shame! You probably won't fare well in the class trial... The one that's starting now! Everyone make your way to the elevator so we can get things started!"
The television flipped off and Amp and Jade stood up. Amp refused to look at Jade still, and now Holden was included. Grey arrived with Ace, who were both ignored by Amp. Ariana showed up a few minutes later and began whispering to Ace. Valerie walked up to the group as the doors to the elevator opened. She smirked as she entered, and spoke once everyone was inside.
"This is going to be a very interesting trial..."
The students took their spots at their stands in a fourth trial room. This room was cool and calm. The walls were painted blue, with yellow accents to make it look like the night sky. White curtains covered various parts of the walls, and moon shaped cut outs were glued to the wall. Monobear's throne sat at the sixteenth stand, like always, and the black and white pictures of the dead students sat at their respective stands, including new pictures for Hannah, Sophie, and Amy. Monobear sat on his throne, waving around a full glass of wine.
"Upupupu!" he laughed as the students took their places. "Our fourth class trial! How exciting! I can feel the despair from here! Remember! If you bastards figure out who our killer is, they will be punished. But if you vote the wrong person guilty, then the killer will graduate, and everyone else will be punished! Now, let's have an explanation of the case!"
"Amy Hossi and Sophie Lexington." Amp said. "They're the victims."
"Super High-School Level Musician and Athlete." Valerie added.
"Amy was beaten to death, and Sophie looks like she was beaten to death but the real cause of death was choking on her own vomit." Ariana explained.
"The whole scene went down in the girl's bathroom on the second floor." Ace said.
"It must have happened after we left the library at eleven." Holden said. "And from the looks of the dried blood and vomit, it happened a long time ago, not this morning."
"We need to figure out how many killers there was." Jade said. "There could be two killers in this room."
"Only one person can graduate!" Monobear cried out.
"So there was only one killer?" Jade asked.
"Nope!" the bear giggled.
"So there are two killers?" Jade looked around with a questioning look. "But you said only one person can graduate."
"There's always the possibility that one of the killers was also one of the victims." Ariana suggested.
"They would never!" Amp cried out. "Those girls wouldn't touch a fly!"
"Sophie was strong enough to harm herself." Valerie hummed. "It wouldn't be a surprise if she broke and hurt someone else."
"She would never!" Amp yelled out again. "One of you bastards killed them!"
"Or two of us." Grey said. "Monobear said there's more than one killer this time."
"And since only one person can graduate, the second killer was probably one of those girls." Ariana said again.
"Why are you so confident one of the girls killed the other?" Amp asked. "Did you walk in on them?"
"What?" Ariana cried out in shock. "Of course not! I went back to my dorm! Amy and Sophie were the ones who took a detour to the bathroom."
"She's right." Ace said. "I walked with her."
"That doesn't mean you didn't turn around and go back to them." Amp snickered. "The perfect plan! You walked in hoping to kill one of them, but found the two of them fighting! So you killed the one who was winning and left the other one to bleed out!"
"Can I butt in?" Jade asked. "Because I think I know who one of the killers is."
"Do tell!" Valerie said with a smile.
"I was reading Sophie's diary," Jade began. "And she wrote about how she doesn't want her family to die. She then wrote that she was going to kill Amy when she didn't expect it. If Amy had to use the bathroom, then that'd be a perfect opportunity for Sophie to attack."
"The killer must have walked in on Sophie beating the lights out of Amy, so Amp was partially right." Valerie cheered.
"Upupupu!" Monobear laughed. "You kids are good!"
"I guess that finalized that Sophie Lexington killed Amy Hossi." Ariana said. "That's one mystery down. Now we must figure out who killed Sophie."
"I might also add that Sophie probably died before Amy." Valerie said.
"How would you even know?" Amp barked. "I still refuse to believe she killed her!"
"Amy left a dying message." Valerie explained. "It's faint but under the sinks where Amy was laying, you can see a faint 'A' on the wall. Her hand was below it and her index finger was stained with her own blood."
"An A?" Grey asked.
"She must have finally bled out when she was writing the message." Valerie said. "She never finished."
"If she was writing the name of the person who killed Sophie," Holden began. "Then that means we have three suspects."
"Ace, Ariana, and Amp." Grey added.
"You bite your tongue!" Amp yelled. "I would never kill her!"
"Relax." Ariana said. "We're not saying you killed her, at least not yet."
"Ace didn't kill them." Jade said. "I talked to him before we went back into our dorms. We had a conversation about what would we do if we ever got out of here."
"Yeah, I'm not guilty." Ace said. "I'd go find my friend and her uncle if we ever got out of her. I miss them..."
"I said I'd go find my friend and his parents." Jade cheered. "And then I'd find the team of heroes I put together! We call ourselves the Adventurer's League!"
"As much as I'd love to talk about what we would do when we get out," Valerie began. "We have a killer to execute."
"Ariana did get in a fight with the girls earlier." Grey said. "She could of killed Sophie out of spite, since Amy was already about to die."
"I don't have a reason to kill them!" Ariana cried. "That was a petty fight. It wasn't something I'd kill somebody over!"
"Besides, I already said we walked back to our dorms together." Ace repeated.
"The past killers have all been females though." Holden pointed out. "It might make sense if the killer was a girl again."
"Upupu, but now you're wrong!" Monobear cried out. "This past murder broke our female killer streak!"
"What!?" Amp cried.
"So if it isn't Ariana, and if Ace has an alibi," Valerie chuckled. "Then our killer is none other than Amp Miller, the Super High-School Level Psychotic! What a twist!"
"Now that I think about it," Jade rubbed his head. "Amp did turn around and go back to see if they were ok."
"...B-But..." Amp stared at his feet.
"And your description of what Sophie's killer did was pretty specific." Ariana said. "The killer walked in, killed the one winning the fight, and left the other to bleed out."
"Sophie was clearly the winner if we confirmed that she killed Amy." Holden said.
"But I-" Amp began to cry out before he was cut off.
"Are we ready to vote?" Monobear cried. "Vote, vote, vote! There's no point in discussing anymore! Please vote with the buttons in front of you!" The student looked down and voted for the killer of Sophie as Monobear's slot machine rose from the ground in front of them. The slot all landed onto a picture of Amp's face, and the word 'GUILTY' flashed above it like always. Amp fell to his knees and began crying.
"She was hurting her!" he cried out. "I had to help her, but it was too late!"
"Disgusting." Valerie barked. "You were their good friend, but you killed them."
"I was trying to help!" Amp cried again while looking up towards Valerie. "I shouldn't be the one being executed here! You should be, you creepy bitch!"
"Blah, blah, blah." Valerie laughed. "Your words are like dirt to me."
"You're evil!" Amp cried. "I should have killed you!"
"Well now I get to kill you!" Monobear laughed. He ripped his red mallet out of thin air and slammed it down on the button in front of him, laughing as he did so.
GAME OVER. Amp Miller has been found guilty. Commencing execution...
Amp looked around the room as a robotic hand shot out of one of the curtains. The killer ducked as the hand reached him. He began dashing towards the elevator doors as the other six students watched. The robotic hand retracted into the curtain as Monobear stood in his seat. He placed one paw on his hip and bared the other in front of his face, showing his claws.
"Are you... trying to run away from a punishment?" the bear asked in a monotone voice. "Trying to run from one of my punishments?" Monobear hopped off his throne and walked around the stands towards Amp. "No, no, no! That simply won't do! You've broken the rules! I'll have to take care of you myself!"
The bear did a sudden back-flip and landed in the middle of the stands. He laughed and clapped his hands together, causing two tables to appear in the middle of the circle with him. One was full of torture instruments, while the other looked like a normal wooden table. The normal table opened up in the four different corners, and robotic hands shot out and grabbed Amp by his arms and legs before dragging him to the table and clamping him down. Monobear jumped up on the second table, now dressed like a medieval torturer.
"You're going to kill him right in the middle of the trial room!?" Holden cried.
"Upupu! Exactly!" Monobear cheered as he grabbed a gallon of gasoline from the table. He threw a large towel over Amp before jumping onto his chest, still holding the gallon. The bear giggled and positioned the gallon over Amp's head, even though he couldn't see the gallon through the towel. Monobear tilted the gallon, letting a continuous flow of gasoline to hit Amp's head through the towel. The boy choked and gasped for air as he tried to break free of the table's grasp. The bear giggled as the gas pour out, and simply dropped the gallon on Amp's head when it was empty.
"You sick bastard!" Ariana cried. "Waterboarding the kid right in front of us!"
"We should try to he-" Ace began before Monobear point a claw at him.
"Interfere and you'll be next!" The bear jumped back to the second table and ripped the towel off, "Hmmm, I don't feel satisfied yet. Let's try some medication!" The black and white bear held up a large bottle of assorted pills and jumped back over to Amp. "Open wide!" he sung. Amp held his mouth shut tight, but was forced to open up when two more robotic hands appeared out of the table to hold his mouth open. Monobear then began to shove multiple pills into Amp's mouth, "SWALLOW!" he yelled into Amp's face. The boy did as his torturer asked, but began coughing as more pills were shoved into his mouth. "I'M NOT DONE YET!"
"Please..." Amp muttered after he swallowed the second batch, "Have mercy..."
"Mercy?" the bear questioned before dropping the bottle of pills on the floor, "Mercy... It's funny... You want me to give you mercy. You want me to release you, but you didn't give mercy to poor Sophie, did you? And you saw Amy was still alive when you didn't give mercy to Sophie. But you ran away..." The bear reached over and grabbed a wrench from the second table. "Do you want mercy? I'll give you mercy."
The robotic hands pried Amp's mouth open again and Monobear stuck the wrench in the boy's mouth. He tightened the tool around one of the boy's teeth before twisting and pulling at the tooth. Amp cried out in pain as the six other students cringed. Monobear laughed as he pulled even harder. The bear quit pulling for a split second before pulling even harder, ripping the tooth out of Amp's head. He flicked the tooth towards Valerie, who avoided it, before placing the wrench on another tooth.
He began ripping out multiple teeth, causing Amp's face to look like a bloodbath. Jade shrunk in his stand and looked away. Holden was mortified but his eyes were glued to the scene. Valerie watched with an eerie smirk. Monobear finished ripping out an eleventh tooth before throwing the wrench on the floor.
"I'm bored of this." the bear yawned, "Come on children, it's time to head upstairs! Amp will sit here and bleed out, he's worthless anyways."
The students moved away from their stands and towards the elevator. Holden stared at Amp, who was still clamped to the table. Amp turned his head to the others. His whole face was covered in blood, and he looked weak. Holden knew there was nothing he could do. He wouldn't make it past another hour with all the blood he lost. Amp opened his mouth to speak, but he couldn't project his voice loud enough for the others to hurt. The students and Monobear piled into the elevator and headed up to the first floor as Amp slowly spoke.
"Kill him... For me..."
Jade was sick of everything. He couldn't stand this anymore. Everything was awful, and the boy was sick of everything. Every time he thought they were all friends, Monobear ruins it, and people end up dead. It had taken a toll on him, and the boy couldn't sleep as these thoughts raced through his mind. He needed to get out. He needed to find some sanity in this place. He got up and left his room, heading to the storage room to get food.
As he exited the storage room with a pouch of juice, he heard the sound of glass shattering come from down the hall. He hesitated, but decided to head towards the noise. As he neared the gymnasium, he heard more noises consisting of grunts and thuds. He stood outside the door to the gym, hearing Monobear's faint laugh from inside. He opened the door and peaked inside to see Ace fighting Monobear. The two pounced at each other before landing and having a stare-down.
"Why are you doing this!?" Monobear cried out, "What is the meaning of this? Why are you resisting me?"
"I've made a decision!" Ace yelled at the bear. "I'm tired of being bossed around by you! I refuse to work for you anymore! I will fight you!"
"Oh really?" the bear laughed, "But you know what will happen if you do! Remember our little hostage situation?"
