[Aibou] Yuugi talking to Yami
Monster- ATK/0, DEF/0 – Special Card Info
{Previously...}
"Let's go! Basic Insect Laser Cannon! Your target…..the Dark Magician! Attack! Fire, Fire, Yeah! Death to the Dark Magician!"
A small smirk came across Yami face as the blast came closer the kneeling enchantress.
"Huh? What's so funny?"
"You said 'attack', right? You can't take it back now, Widow!"
"Wha-,"
"Remember that card I played earlier face down?" Yami said as he flipped the card.
Mirror Force- Trap Card
"A t-trap!?"
"Tha's right! And when you attacked, you fell for it! My Mirror Force reflects your attacks back in all directions!"
With that said, the attack that had been heading towards the Dark Magician was reflected back to Widow's monsters, destroying each and every one of them. "Ahhh! My insect army!"
Widow Underwood- 2000 - 450 LP
"Huh, you must have won that tournament by dumb luck. Just maybe, the weakest player on this island….is YOU!"
[Take that, you witch!]
A small smile pasted itself on Yami's face at the innocent comment.
"Urk!"
"Do you hear me, Widow?"
Widow continued to stare at the smoking field of ashes. Not a single monster was left on Widow's side of the field.
"You're a WEAKLING!"
-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-
"Oh yeah! Now do you get it, you crazy bug chick? You don't even come close to Yuugi!" Joy exclaimed happily.
"To fight a trap card with a trap card! Yuugi's amazing! She went beyond her opponent's trap to set a counter-trap!" Ryou commented in awe. It's not everyday she watched a duel as intense as this.
Well almost. It's been a year since that horrible day. And nothing says intense like a duel to the death.
At this point many people had crowded around Yuugi and Widow's duel. Many of the onlookers oooing and aaing as the duel progressed. Including a familiar blond.
"Hehehe, that was smooth alright. But cute little Yuugi's only taken a small lead..." It was Nio Valentine, the duelist they had met on the boat. He had a bag over his shoulder and was wearing the same clothes as the day before.
"A duel monsters game can go from victory to defeat in a single turn. Its to early to get cocky!" he said, raising his hand and running his fingers through his hair.
"Who the hell are you calling Yuugi 'Little'?!" Trey sneered.
[He called me cute]
[Hush now]
[It's weird]
[Focus]
"Listen, Widow Underwood is the English Champion from London! She is a master planner with several different strategies. The real duel is just starting!" he stated, pointing to the blue-haired girl inside the box. Widow sniffed.
Nodding her head, Joy looked at Trey, "I gotta agree with Nio, Trey. Grandpa drilled into my head to never underestimate your opponent. You may feel like your winning but Yuugi's gotta focus if she's ever gonna win. So go for it Yug! Squash that bug!"
Widow Underwood- 450 LP
Yuugi Moto- 1350 LP
"You'll regret this you pointy-haired freak! Now you've made me mad!" Widow shrilled, her eyes nearly popping out of her glasses, making her look even more bug-like in appearance.
Yami smirked. Good. An angry or frustrated opponent tended to make mistakes without thinking. All he needs to do is to use that against her.
"Talk is cheap. Take your frustration and send it to me through your cards!"
[She'll regret tossing grandpa's cards.]
He watched as slowly her anger calmed and a smirk began to grow. She was up to something he was sure of it. She had taken a good hit to her Life Points, but it seems she had something up her sleeve. No one ever smiled like that unless they knew they could win. Yami's eyes narrowed.
[We'll see about that.]
"Your side of the field is looking pretty empty Widow. Don't you think you should play some monsters?" he teased with a grin.
"I know that! I'll play this card! Larvae Moth! Defense Mode!"
Larvae Moth- ATK/500 DEF/400 {Defense Mode}
[Larvae Moth...A two star monster. A strange choice. It's weak in both attack and defense.]
[It has to be a trap Yami, she's baiting us to attack.]
[I know. We won't fall for that. She still has a face down card on the field.]
"I play this card! Monster Recovery!"
Monster Recovery- Spell card
"I return all my cards to my deck, reshuffle, and draw a new hand of five cards. From those I pick my weakest card and sacrifice it to set off your trap!"
Kuriboh- ATK/300 DEF/200
"Now your trap is gone, with at minimal cost to me!"
Widow Underwood- 450 LP
Yuugi Moto- 1050 LP
"Next I play Beaver Warrior and end my turn!"
Beaver Warrior- ATK/1200 DEF/1500
"Hehe...hehe.. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! You fool! You've done exactly what I wanted!"
"WHAT?"
"This is my trump card! The Cocoon of Evolution! I equip it onto Larvae Moth!"
Cocoon of Evolution- ATK/0 DEF/2000
[WHAT?] Yuugi couldn't help but shriek, no one would hear anyway.
In the field appeared a large, pulsing cocoon. It had slimy looking strings attached to it and had some weird liquid coating it. It was down right disgusting Yuugi couldn't help but think. She never disliked bugs before and generally never gave them much thought, but after this duel, Yuugi wouldn't be able to look at a bug without committing some sort of horrible, violent act or have the need to shower thoroughly. And hopefully she did not just jinx herself by thinking that.
"Heheheheh, For the next five turns, Larvae Moth will gradually evolve into Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth! When that happens , the Great Moth will be invulnerable! What's more, the power of the forest increases the defense power of the cocoon. None of the cards you have right now can even touch it!"
Cocoon of Evolution- ATK/0 DEF/2000 - DEF/2600
Widow raised her hand suddenly in front of Yami's face. "In five turns, my Great Moth will chew you out like an old coat!"
Yami's face scrunched in anger. He had fallen for it, hook, line, and sinker. He quickly glanced to the cards in his hands. None even came close to the amount needed to destroy the cocoon. He glanced up and saw the smirk that was permanently sketched on the bluenette in front of him.
[This is bad... If it hatches, I won't be able to win!]
Without much thought to his move, Yami slammed the first monster close enough in Attack Power to take down the cocoon.
"Gaia the Fierce Knight! Attack the cocoon!"
[Yami no!]
Gaia the Fierce Knight- ATK/2300 DEF/2100
Widow laughed wickedly at the failed attempt. Gaia's attack just bounced off, leaving the cocoon unharmed. Yami stared as his life points dropped in retribution for his mistake.
Widow Underwood- 450 LP
Yuugi Moto- 750 LP
[With the help of the field power bonus, the cocoon's defense is too high. Damn it, that was a reckless move and I paid the price.]
"Oh no, Yuugi!" Trey yelled.
"Come on Yug! You've got this!" Joy cheered.
"Give it up! Your cards can't budge that cocoon!" Widow once again screeched. Yami just stared. Another reason to win this duel, as her constant screeching was getting on his last nerve.
He gritted his teeth. [None of my monster cards are good in the forest. And even if I use a multiple-card combo with my current hand, I can't surpass the defense points of the cocoon.]
With the cocoon on the field, Widow couldn't summon anymore monsters to her aid. And another two turns went by in the same fashion as Yami for the afterlife of him couldn't think of a strategy. He swallowed the lump in his throat, sweat dripping from his temple from his current stress. Softly, like the caress of the wind, a hand laid upon his shoulder as a small, bell like voice broke through his disturbed thoughts.
[I believe in you Yami. You can do this.]
His thoughts came to a complete halt as another, much louder voice came from outside the dueling box.
"Yuugi! We came to this stupid island to become the Queen of Games! You can't lose here! Burn down the whole damn forest if you have to! Just take down that shitty cocoon!" Joy screamed.
A laugh broke through Joy's emotional speech. "You amateurs talk to much! Once a duelist sits down for a match, the only person he can believe in is himself. A real duelist wouldn't even pay attention to you shouting 'Yuugi' 'Yuugi' all the time..."
Trey just straightened out to his full height, his burning gaze staring equally to Nio's passive. "I've known Yuugi since we were kids, and she's never been so selfish as to think of only herself. So I know without a shadow of a doubt that she's listening to us. We've known her for far longer than you have, so don't you dare talk about her as if you know her! Yuugi will win, just you watch!"
Nio just huffed and turned, trying the disregard's the brunet's words. His eyes widened though at the scene inside the box. He didn't know if his minds was playing tricks on him, but just for the spam of a second, there were two Yuugis side by side. One was the one he had been watching duel for the last thirty minutes, the other was way more feminine than the other in appearance with longer spiked hair and less gold sparking through it. Her eyes, instead of the sharp ruby of her so-called twin, they were a wide and youthful amethyst. They were both giving them a thumbs' up, explaining to those outside the box that they've heard their encouraging words. And with that the moment they were gone, and there was only one Yuugi.
"Yeah go Yuugi!" Joy and Trisha cheered.
Nio blinked. He must have imagined the whole thing.
"Here I come! I summon Curse of Dragon!"
Curse of Dragon- ATK/2000 DEF/1500
"Then I combo attack with Burning Land!"
A shower of flames emerged from the dragon's maw, encasing the field in red destruction. Many of the watching bystanders watched in awe as the entire field was set ablaze.
"I told you it's no good stupid! Your dragon's attack power is still 600 points lower than the cocoon's!" Widow screeched once more.
"Haha, who said I was attacking the Cocoon of Evolution? You just assumed that. What I really attacked-"
Widow looked down and gazed upon the field. The smoke finally drifted away and in it's place, the land was scorched earth. The beautiful green that had covered most of the playing field was nothing but ashes and black soot.
"Was the forest itself!"
"NO WAY!"
"Now that your cocoon has lost its field power bonus, it's now prime and ready for an attack! Now Gaia!"
Swiftly, with unrivaled speed, the knight raced forward and lunged its lance and pierced the cocoon. As he withdrew, steam began issuing from within the cocoon, seeming to appear empty.
Ryou, being the only one outside paying attention since everyone else was either cheering or stupefied in Nio's case, watched on with trepidation as a disturbing squelching noise came from inside. It reminded her of the chestbursters from the American 'Alien' movie franchise.
(A very nice comparison, yadonoushi)
Ryou deemed no response to the voice in her head as she continued watching the current events happening before her. Then in a sudden burst of slime and goo, the Great Moth appeared, ready to be played.
"It still alive...!" Ryou said frantically.
Great Moth- ATK/2600 DEF/2500
"A tough opponent always gets my blood going." Yami said with a smirk.
[I managed to destroy the Cocoon of Evolution before it achieved its Ultimate form, but now, how I will I defeat this?]
[I believe in Grandpa's deck. Even though he isn't here, his heart is with us through his deck. He will help us win.] Yuugi said with conviction, her hand resting on the deck her grandfather had carefully and lovingly put together.
Yami gave a small nod before once again facing the Insect duelist in front of him. Widow was shaking with glee, her smile nearly psychotic as it split her face in two.
"Hehehe, who's laughing now Yuugi? Who's laughing now?! Has your fear for the Great Moth rendered your tongue silent?!
Yami couldn't help but chuckle at the sudden image Yuugi had thought up at the question. "Hahaha, I was picturing in my head how I was going to swat that giant mosquito!" The tought was from Yuugi as she mentally ran around chasing said moth with a giant flyswatter.
"Ha! I'd like to see you try!"
"Let's go!"
"On my turn, Great Moth takes flight!"
[That's just great] Yuugi mumbled. Yami couldn't agree more.
Grounded monsters can't attack airborne monsters. The only monster Yami had that could fly was Curse of Dragon, but even then it still wouldn't help as Great Moth's attack points were 300 above its own.
"First I'll get rid of the earthbound knight and the ugly beaver!"
[This is bad. Gaia is my main offense right now, Without him, I'll have no attack power. I'll lose!]
"You don't stand a chance! Poor Yuugi stuck on the ground with her pitiful monsters! What a joke!"
[It all rides on this card!]
With a swipe of his hand, Yami grabbed the first card of his deck and drew. Yuugi gasped.
[It's...]
[Just the card we needed.] Yami thought with a smile.
"Your card is useless, now piss off and die! Great Moth attack, Moth Hurricane!" the bluenette all but spit at her opponent. "Hurts doesn't it? The powerful wind created by the huge wings of my beautiful moth blasts any landbound monster to dust in an instant!"
Widow Underwood- 450 LP
Yuugi Moto- 600 LP
"Gaia the knight is dead!"
"Hahahaha, think so? You don't seem to understand the card I played."
Polymerization- Spell Card
"With the Polymerization card, I can combine two of my monsters into a more powerful one! Come forth! Gaia the Dragon Champion!"
Gaia the Dragon Champion- ATK/2600 DEF/2100
"Hahahahahaha!"
"Huh?"
"His attack power went up is that it? Are you sure about that?"
Yami looked again to his Dragon Champion and was shocked at what he saw. Gaia was covered in a sort of purple gas and with every shudder of the monster, his attack points dropped. With each inhale of toxic gas, both rider and dragon quickly became sick and Curse of Dragon drooped lower to the ground. Yuugi covered her mouth with her hands in a gasp as she watched the duel monster suffer in agony. Tears cornered in her eyes as she felt her soul ache.
[I'm so sorry...]
Yami watched in a detached way as his love weeped for the duel monster. He cared, he really did, but now was not the time to comfort. He can do that after he kicked the self-proclaimed 'Insect Queen' off her pedestal.
"-poison pollen!"
Wait, she was talking again or explaining, at this point he had somehow managed to ignore most of the runoff that came out of the hole she called a mouth, the only thing he managed to catch was the bit at the end. So that's what was slowly killing his monster. He had to think of something quick or he wouldn't have a monster left on the field.
Gaia the Dragon Champion- ATK/2600 - 2100
[If his attack points drop any lower, that stupid moth will drop my life points to zero!]
Yami once again drew and glimpsed at the card in his hand. He smirked. Perfect.
"I play Magic Mist!"
Magic Mist- Spell Card
On the field, a dew-like drizzle began to cover the arena. It stuck to both monsters and, as Yami suspected, stopped the poisoning of his monster. Gaia was weak, but his appearance was that of relief as the poison gas was removed. Yuugi let out a sigh of relief, but still looked on with concern.
[He's still too weak Yami.]
[I know. But I have a plan. Trust me.]
Yuugi nodded.
"Hehehe, so you think you're pretty smart, huh Yuugi? Using the mist to wash away the poison, I'll give you credit. But I guess that basic trick is all you can come with! Well don't worry. Your dear Dragon Champion won't die from my moth's poison... Because I'll kill in one blow instead! Go my Great Moth!"
At her command, the moth shot forward a burst of flames from it's mouth. Yami could only watch as Gaia was engulfed and completely destroyed.
"Yuugi!" Trey shouted.
"Is this the end...?" Joy asked no one.
"HAHAHAHAH! I did it! I beat Yuugi! I-"
As the smoke disappeared, all in attendance could only watch in awe and some in complete denial as Yami appeared with a smirk.
"Well played Widow. Haha indeed."
Yuugi Motou- 100 LP
Widow watched in disbelief as he appeared before her, smirk still in place. Her eyes teared up and she gave a small sniff.
"What's so funny this time?!" she said with a small sob.
"It seems you've fallen into my trap! My Champion was merely a decoy!"
"A DECOY!?"
"Now it's my turn! I'll finish this duel with this card! Summoned Skull!"
Summoned Skull- ATK/2500 DEF/1200
Widow blew a breath in what seemed relief. Yami couldn't help but smirk and Yuugi couldn't help the giggles that came out.
"You haven't figured it out yet have you Widow? Why do you think I played the Magic Mist besides helping my champion?"
Shock flashed across Widow's face as she looked down and Yami watched with a small hint of pleasure as her eyes widened in realization. Her Great Moth was wet from his last card. And last he checked, water was a great conductor.
"That's right. The Magic Mist is a stepping stone for a combo attack with the Summoned Skull. Because of it's effect, Great Moth becomes more conductive to electricity and the demon's attack power rises!"
Summoned Skull- ATK/2500 - 3100
"Attack! Demon Lightning!"
With great flourish, Summoned Skull spread its arms and all watched as the monster called down lightning from above. The lightning smashed into the Great Moth, sparks and charges jumping off the monsters body and exploded in a ball of red flames.
Widow Underwood- 0 LP
YUUGI MOTOU IS THE WINNER
"Yay Yuugi won!"
"Go Yuugi!"
"My-my- moth-"
"Now as per our agreement, I'll take your two star chips." He sighed and without another thought he switched back with Yuugi.
"Why you-!" Widow began to get up before she was cut off by the real Yuugi, who didn't turn as she stared off into the forest.
"Did you know Widow? Black Widow spiders are one of nature's silent killers and are very respected creatures. They attack fast and their venom is quick. Anything that messes with them are giving a swift but painful death."
She turned back and Widow swallowed hard at the annoyed but threatening look sent her way. "They should have named you Cicada cause all you are is loud and annoying."
As she walked out, leaving Widow flabbergasted and speechless, she looked down at her dueling glove and its new additions.
[Now I have three star chips. Seven more to get to Pegasus' castle!]
[And then we can get back Grandpa]
She nodded absently and was shocked when she was suddenly tackled by a blonde figure.
"Yuugi, that was awesome! You sure showed her!" Joy yelled as she pulled Yuugi into a side hug.
"Well I had help." she said as she turned toward Yami, who gave her a smirk and a wink before disappearing. She looked back towards the castle, sitting still and imposing upon its hill. Her eyes narrowed.
'I'm coming Pegasus! Just you wait!"
A/N: Finally this duel is over! SO hard to write took me a week. Well here it is the conclusion of this duel. I know a lot of people requested that I finish it as I left it at a bad cliffhanger, but I'm hoping this makes up for it. Now coming next is Joy and Nio's duel (Joey and Mai for those are confused). It's a much shorter duel compared to Yuugi and Widow. Read and review and let me know who you all like the changes.
