I gasped and shrunk back. "Sasuke…what's that matter?"

He sneered. Sasuke exited the room, and I stared at his muscled back under his black shirt. He was mad at Neji, no doubt. I should have thought before inviting him. Sighing, I hung my head and rubbed my stomach. Sakura said my belly was a bit smaller than women at five months were, but I ignored the comment. My child was an Uzumaki, and all Uzumaki members are strong. I smiled softly.

Remembering Sasuke's anger, I sobered up and began cooking. Soon after he had wandered into the kitchen and bashfully tried to apologize, but I shrugged it off with a smile. He always seemed to calm down if I smiled at him.

I washed dishes and hummed softly, noticing Sasuke standing closely near me. His eyes were watching me closely and I blushed under his gaze. Turning off the water slowly, I glanced up at him. "Is there a problem?"

His eyes were gray and had small specs of black in them. I had never been close enough to see them so well. They were beautiful, and framed by sophisticated eyebrows. I blushed. Sophisticated eyebrows, what was I thinking? His lips stayed in a tight line and he reached up, moving the bangs from my face.

"Er, don't do that, please." I shook them back into place gently.

Sasuke grabbed my face gently and again pushed them away. "Why?"

I was forced to stare into his hypnotic eyes, and I replied, "I-I feel…exposed, I suppose."

He frowned. "You're hiding your face though."

Sasuke let go and turned away. I felt my lips part as I tried to decode his words but nothing came to mind.

The door opened and Sasuke sighed audibly. "Hello, Hinata-chan!"

I looked up quickly, forgetting about my blush. Hanabi swung herself into my arms and I laughed softly. "Hello, Hanabi."

Neji walked through after with a little wrapped bowl. "I brought over that sweet bean paste that you like so much, Hinata."

I smiled and took it from his hands happily. "Thank you so much, I will put it out on the table."

I turned and gently set it down near the rice. Sasuke glared at it childishly and I giggled. "Sasuke, do you dislike bean paste?"

"No- why did he bring it though? Everybody can eat it; it is just not a delicacy by any means."

I blushed. "It is my favorite thing to eat, besides sweets."

He frowned.

I set up the table and asked my family to sit down. Neji sat across from Sasuke and smiled at him. Sasuke stared him down. I gulped and pushed Hanabi into a seat, smiling at her.

I went to get some bowls from the cupboard when two pale arms beat me to it. I looked back and stared up at Sasuke's upside face. "Thank you, Sasuke. I do have trouble with that top shelf sometimes."

He shrugged and set them before Neji, Hanabi, my seat, and his seat. Then, he pulled back my seat and looked up at me.

I blushed and sat down. "Thank you, again," I laughed softly.

Neji glared at Sasuke but when Sasuke looked back at him, his eyes began to soften. I frowned in suspicion. Hanabi did not catch the males' interaction.

"Neji, why don't you start," I lightly said, passing him the bowl of hot soup. He smiled softly and took it. "You are taking care of the clan and that means a lot to me."

Hanabi spoke up. "I am helping a lot! I have gotten a lot stronger under Neji and Tenten's training. The elders are really showing me respect." She took the bowl from Neji and her eyes flashed to Sasuke's. Quickly she looked away and blushed.

I smiled but felt an odd pang in my chest. "That is great, but did you say Tenten?"

Sasuke gently grabbed it from my sister and their hands touched. Hanabi smiled, her face ablaze. Both men were oblivious, and I was glad. Neji would have blown a gasket. "Yes, Tenten is over all the time!"

I turned to Neji, pouring myself some soup. "Oh, how interesting- what is that about, Neji?"

"She trains, that's all." Neji stiffly brought a spoonful up to his lips and I laughed.

I winked and pushed around my soup.

"So, Uchiha-san," Hanabi began, "do you know how to use a sword? Tenten is teaching me tomorrow."

Sasuke's face was clear of any anger or annoyance. "I do, I have one that's about five feet long."

Her eyes widened and she smiled. "Really? Are you like a professional?"

"Yeah, Uchiha, how many people experienced the masterfulness of your sword handling?" Neji asked, his tone slightly annoyed.

I gasped softly and glanced at Neji. "Cousin, please watch yourself at this table."

"I have never killed anybody with it, Hanabi-san." Sasuke politely looked over at her and smiled. It was odd to see him so pleasant looking. "However, I have injured countless enemies with it."

"That's so interesting," Hanabi said. She pulled her long hair over her shoulder and ran it through her fingers confidently.

I frowned and picked up a spoonful of the soup. I lifted to my mouth but put it back in the bowl and stirred it around. I was not hungry.

Neji rolled his eyes but calmly spoke to my sister and Sasuke. Sasuke continued to speak politely to them both, but Hanabi was flirting obviously.

I licked my lips and said, angrily but calmly, "Hanabi, how is Konohamaru? You guys have been dating for a year now?"

She blanched but nodded. "We're fine, I guess. He just turned fifteen, so he had a small birthday party. You weren't around so I didn't invite you."

I wasn't insulted that a bunch of teenagers didn't invite me to a birthday party, but I still frowned. "I'm sorry I missed out- I bet it was a lot of fun. There is always that festival, so I'm just fine."

She nodded slowly and nibbled on a rice ball.

Neji asked Sasuke how the soup was and they both agreed that it was wonderful. I couldn't help but let my mind wander to Naruto. He loved this soup and my rice. My chest hurt but I shook it off. I would not be eating tonight. I picked apart a rice ball, just in case my over protective cousin was looking at my food.

But he wasn't the one to notice.

"Hinata," Sasuke said. His eyes slid over to mine, and he reached for my spoon. "You have not taken a single bite."

I smiled. "Of course I have, you were too busy talking to Hanabi to notice."

He lowered his eyebrows and lifted my full spoon to my lips. I stared at him for a long moment. Sasuke pressed it to my bottom lip. "I-"

He shoved it into my mouth and I swallowed the warm soup. My stomach growled happily. "You are starving your baby, Hinata."

I gasped- I wasn't even thinking of my baby! I must be the worst mother in the world. Sasuke broke off a piece of rice and gently put that into my mouth too.

"Eat," he commanded.

Neji's fist tightened around the spoon and Hanabi bit her lip. My face grew incredibly hot, and I took the spoon, feeding myself. My stomach growled, but the food didn't taste the same as I used to.

Sasuke finished off his dinner and turned toward Hanabi. "They allowed me to use my sword. I will show you a few tricks tomorrow."

My sister's smile grew wildly and she nodded. "Of course, thank you, Uchiha-san!"

Neji took another roll and looked at Sasuke. "I believe that Tenten has that all covered."

Sasuke smiled softly. "She might as well get used to me," he said.

Neji's face grew dark and they glared at each other again, but it was more like they were exchanging thoughts.

What the hell has happened?

I stood, grabbing a few bowls to clean up. "No," Sasuke quickly said. "I will."

Neji angrily stood, his chair nearly flying back. "I will, Uchiha, I am the guest."

Hanabi's eyes were wide and she fearfully shoveled down the rest of her soup.

I started laughing, loudly and uncontrollably. "Your face!"

Everyone grew quiet and stared at me. I laughed again, ignoring my blushed cheeks.

Neji smiled finally and took the bowls to the sink. Sasuke escaped into his room, and Hanabi said she wanted to go lay down. Apparently she had eaten too much. "Thank you for the meal," Neji said softly.

"It isn't a problem." I almost invited him back but I recalled Sasuke's reaction before. "Perhaps tomorrow I'll spend it with you again."

Neji nodded and bowed his head. "Good night, Hinata. Please give the Uchiha my farewell."

I opened my mouth to ask what was going on, but he quickly left. I sighed, closing my jaw.

I turned on the faucet to begin the dishes. Sasuke soon wandered into the kitchen, reaching into the cupboard with the alcohol. He cracked open the lid and I scowled. "I really need to stop supplying you with alcohol."

He ignored my statement and took a long guzzle. It was amazing that he hadn't poisoned himself already. "Let me do the dishes."

I watched as he drank half of the bottle and lick his lips. It looked attractive, until he coughed and covered his mouth. "I will gladly do these- and tomorrow I am gladly taking all of those bottles out."

He looked at my straight in the eyes and drank the rest, before opening another.

I shut off the water, angrier now. "You are going to die." My voice came out timid and worried, but I was livid. I reached out to grab the glass bottle, and he pushed my hand away. "Give it to me, Sasuke!"

He smirked and I could see the alcohol affecting him. "I love hearing those words."

I blushed. "Sasuke, please."

"Louder," he said, leaning in closer to mock me.

I growled and reached for his arm, when he suddenly slammed me onto the counter. My lower back pulsed furiously and I bit lip. "That r-really hurt…"

He frowned and leaned down, until he was seated on his bottom. "Hinata, don't tell me what to do."

I stared at him on the ground. He was scarily unpredictable when he was drinking. "Drinking is dangerous for you."

He lazily looked at me stomach. It was quiet for a long moment before he reached out and touched me gently. His hand slid over my stomach gently, and he whispered, "Hello."

I was shocked. Sasuke leaned closer and rested his hands at my waist.

"I'm Sasuke- Hinata is your mother. She loves you very much," he whispered. I was frozen- he was speaking to my baby. "I don't know if you're a boy or a girl, but you'll be fine either way."

Gently, he kissed my stomach and stood. "Sasuke," I whispered.

He shrugged and tangled his fingers into my hair. My heart started beating faster and I breathed his scent in. Sasuke focused his eyes on mine, like I was only person alive. It was overwhelming.

I pushed myself away from him. "Go sleep," I commanded. It sounded more like a weak plea.

"I can't."

I turned to look at him and he was drinking again. "Sasuke," I screamed angrily, taking the bottle from him, "stop! Just stop- you do not need this!"

He sneered. "Why do you care? You love Neji and Naruto- you care about those kinds of men. Leave me alone."

I lowered it down onto a shelf and looked at him. "What does that mean?"

He sadly looked at me and said, "They call you the all-seeing eyes but you don't even see the little things."

I gasped. "What?"

"I will go lie down, but I won't sleep. I have nightmares."

I suddenly felt guilty, for yelling, for telling him to sleep. "Why?"

He shrugged and slowly walked to his room. I followed closely behind.

When we entered, he stripped off his shirt and collapsed. "Try to get some rest," I murmured.

Sasuke frowned and raised his arms, almost as if he wanted a hug. I hesitantly walked closer. He grabbed my wrists.

"What is it?"

Suddenly I screamed and he pulled me down, tightly into his chest. His body was burning hot and smooth. "Just shut up."

My head was in his chest, and his arms wrapped tightly around my waist. He began to snore and I shook my head. Stupid drunk.

I listened to the methodic beating of his heart and eventually, my eyelids felt heavy. I cuddled into his chest, loving the skin against my cheek.

I awoke with a cold feeling. Sleeping Sasuke turned over, leaving me bare. I glanced at him, smiling. He was peacefully slumbering, his brow calm and his lips slightly upturned.

Rising from his bed, I got up and gently picked up the quilt I had given him. Slowly, I draped it over him, tucking in the sides. He sighed softly.

I moved to exit but I stepped on something.

My eyes darted down, and I picked it up. My eyes didn't adjust to the darkness very well, so leaned into the hallway and looked. "Oh," I very softly said. It was the journal I had given him.

I should not do this, I thought to myself. I took the cover and opened it slightly. Maybe he had never even written in it.

Itachi invades my dreams a lot and I see myself killing him.

Oh- he was using it.

I peaked back in, and he was still asleep.

I snuck into the living room and set the journal down onto the table. I sat and stared at it. Do I read it?

Again, I opened it randomly. The date was far back, to about a month ago.

I love her and it's ridiculous. She doesn't feel the same and she never will- who could love a monster? Nobody could love a monster. Besides, Hinata loved Naruto and he is my opposite. I wish I could rid myself of these feelings- they make feel powerless.

I wanted to leave this fucking village again, but I don't think it would be the best. I will enlist in the ANBU and die on a mission, never to see her again. Hinata wouldn't even care.

Even though she would care, because that's who she is- she's a loving, sweet, thoughtful woman. But she would not shed a tear over my absence. She and her child would live on and on and nobody would discuss the Uchiha name.

I was just sitting there. Frozen in place.

He loved me.

I pushed it away, leaving it open. I stared at the word love until it was ingrained into my mind.

"So, now you know."

My eyes shot up- Sasuke was leaning against the doorframe, his legs crossed and his hands in his pockets. "It…"

His eyes fell and he sadly said, "It doesn't matter."

He turned quickly, heading back into his room. "No, Sasuke, wait."

I got up and followed him back into his bedroom, where he was waiting. His eyes were angry, set in a dark glare. "Drop it, it does not matter."

"You only think you feel that way because…because you have been locked up with me for so long."

He looked up at the ceiling and scoffed, a bitter smile twisting on his face. "Sure- that's what you say. Just admit it, okay? You do not love me back, stop and say it."

"It's not that I don't love you!"

"So you do?" His eyes had something- a small glimmer of hope.

I dropped my head, feeling guilty. "I love Naruto…" The words did not sound right, they weren't true.

He angrily slammed open his door and pointed out. "It's always him, it is always him!" Sasuke's voice was loud and I shivered.

"Please, don't be upset…"

"Get out," he snapped.

I walked past him, and stopped. His chest was covered in tattoos. A black heart twisted beautifully on his chest and I gently pressed my hand to it. "I'm not saying it isn't possible…"

His eyes were livid and I just left.

I never wanted to face him again- not because of what he was, but because of what I knew I felt.
