CHAPTER TEN(CARTER)

ZIA IS PISSED AT ME

HORUS WANTS BLOODY MURDER

AND ARES LOOKED SCARIER IN THE VIDEO GAME

Carter had seen movies. From movies that spanned franchises to adaptions of popular fiction. Some adaptions were wonderful, while some were downright hideous. He had spent over three years fighting Egyptian monsters and had even become the Pharaoh of the House of Life. In these three years, he always thought of himself as the protagonist.

And now, he was falling towards the ground like one of Spider-Man's girlfriends. He was unable to think. The only thought that ran in his mind was him lying on the ground with his guts all over.

Surprisingly, the fall didn't kill him.

I... am not dead? Carter thought, as he slowly opened his eyes and realized that he was covered in Horus's aura.

'Long time no see' said Carter

'Yes. Truly' said Horus 'Now, we have a Greek God to beat'

'Yup' replied Carter, as the avatar of Horus rose. He looked at Ares, in his bronze armor. Ares looked at him, and broke into a sinister smile. He jumped off his chariot and did a superhero landing. Slowly, he started growing in size, till he was a tad bit taller than Horus.

'Aye Runt' said Ares, as he rose from his knees 'I am going to show you who's the real god of war'. Ares drew a spear out of thin air, and Horus drew a giant Khoseph. Ares let out a cry of war as he charged towards them. Horus successfully evaded the blow, but was unable to land a successful riposte. Ares tried to jab the spear into Horus, as Horus countered it with the Khoseph.

And the weapons of the two gods clashed. The ground shook, the wind rumbled and the crows cawed in fear. The two gods pulled out their weapons and then they clashed again, and again. Each clash released a ripple of energy, each ripple stronger than the previous one. The next time their weapons clashed, Ares drew another spear out and jabbed Horus on the side.

While the weapon did not penetrate through the aura and stab Carter, he still felt the pain. Horus let out a cry, but not one of agony, a call. Carter didn't know if it was magic or if hawks were really fast, but the sacred animals of Horus surrounded them.

'You think only you can do that' Ares yelled, as Vultures appeared behind him. If the clash between these two wasn't terrifying enough, it just became bloody. The flocks of hawks and vultures charged towards each other, both determined to rip the other in pieces.

'Horus, don't' Carter found himself yelling. It was of no use, Horus had lost it. Torn bodies of vultures and hawks began to rain down the sky, as the earth turned red from the blood. Horus and Ares once again let out a cry of war and charged towards each other, as Carter looked in hopelessness. Horus was in control, no doubt. How was that possible, he didn't know.

Or maybe he did. Horus was the king of the gods, was it possible that he changed the rules. Could he even do that, or is this what a war looks like. Everything is fair in love and war, that's how the saying goes, right.

Clash. Dead Birds. Pain. Cry. That's how it went.

Carter closed his eyes. He didn't have the will to see anymore of this useless bloodshed. How did he end up in the middle of this, everything was going fine. There were no worries, Zia wasn't angry at him...

Oh gods, Zia.

He opened his eyes at once and started looking around. It was difficult at first, as Horus was moving so quickly. However, even though he was hesitant, he used Horus's powers.

And he saw her, with Freak. She had created a dome of protective charms above her and Freak, but it was evident from the look in her eyes, she too was horrified.

Seeing her in the middle of the red ground reminded Carter of something. A special memory. It reminded Carter of the time when the two of them ended up in the Land of Demons with and because of Setne. Gods, he had forgotten about that day. They were looking for the Book of Thoth, and Setne double crossed them and ordered Bloodstained Blade to kill them. It was quite an adventure, with Zia incarcerating Bloodstained Blade, and he trapped Setne in the Ribbons of Hathor. Once he got his hands on that evil prick again, he will happily tie him up in the Ribbons, and maybe even kick him a few times, no, he will definitely kick him a few times.

He remembered their picnic over there. When they talked about how it felt to be the host of the gods, and when they shared their first kiss. He still remembers how he felt, he was taken by surprise, and was clueless, too. He chuckled a bit, and wished that he could travel back in time and tell Zia everything the day he found out about all this.

What he didn't know was that his feelings flowed to Horus.

Horus parried Ares's attack, and instead of riposting, he summoned another Khoseph and disarmed Ares. He used his telekinesis to push Ares backwards, and ordered the hawks to withdraw.

'I do not wish to continue this battle' Horus announced

'Giving up so easily' Ares replied

'No' Horus said 'All of this, all of us fighting against each other, it is unnecessary bloodshed, we are being played, and you know it'

'YOU PATHETIC FU-' Before Ares could finish, another god appeared before him and smacked him on the head with a wooden club with such fury that the club broke. Ares doubled over and collapsed, as Carter managed to get a clear look of the attacker.

He was a huge man with a misshapen head and shoulders. He was bulky, and his arms had burn spots on them, with steel braces on his legs. Wearing a jumpsuit with the name HEPHAESTUS written on it, he looked down at Ares and said 'That felt good' in his booming voice. He then turned to Horus and Carter.

'I apologize for his behavior' He said, as he looked around the bloody mess 'He is.. spoiled'

'We do not wish to have a war' Hephaestus spoke

'Neither do we' Horus said 'The Egyptians will not be a part of this conflict anymore. I give you my word. The word of Horus, King of the Gods'

After a pause and a little thinking, Horus corrected himself 'King of the Egyptian Gods'

'But we still have to stop the conspirator' Hephaestus said, as he summoned a hammer.

'We present this as a token of peace and friendship' Hephaestus said 'Built from the raging fires of the underworld and cooled in the River Lethe, this hammer is strong enough, and with your magic, it will become stronger'

'We accept' Horus said, as he grabbed the hammer. Hephaestus nodded as he grabbed Ares and vanished in white light.

Horus's aura started disappearing, as Carter slowly descended towards the ground. The hammer shrunk too, till it was small enough for Carter to lift it.

Standing in the middle of the bloody mess, Carter didn't have the will to move

'I know that you are horrified' Horus said 'But this isn't even the worst outcome. I wish that you never get to see the worst outcomes...'

'No need to reply, Carter' Horus said 'I couldn't stop myself. That guy's aura provoked me... but you helped me out of it. I guess as humans would say, you have rubbed off on me Carter Kane. I would return to the Duat at once and inform the others that to ceasefire at once.'

And with that, Horus disappeared, leaving Carter alone.

Loki smiled

'Perfect' he said

'Have you lost it, they called the war off!' Setne said

'Oh, yes they did. Sure, they will come after me now. But they just lost two of their best fighters. Those two don't have the will to carry on' Loki replied 'Have you learned to control the mist?'

'Nearly' Setne replied 'Give me another 15 minutes'

'Oh we have time' Loki said 'As we speak, a comrade of mine is ready to attack'

Hidden in plain sight is the entry to Camp Jupiter. To mortals it is just an ordinary service tunnel in Oakland Hills.

But to Surt and his army of fire giants, it was their next target

Hey Readers.

I don't have any excuse to cover why I didn't update the story for nearly an year. I was unable to write. That's the truth. That and I had an allergic reaction to life.

Anyway, I would try my best to end the story before 2019 ends.

And I am happy that you are enjoying the story

PEACE OUT
