Loki ran out where the servant came. The others quickly followed. He sprinted outside, into the courtyard. Several servants and magic users were gathered around a broken bush. Several huge rectangular slabs of gold were angled against a wall, covered in purple liquid.
"Koli!" Loki shouted.
He ran to the bushes. Frigga suddenly appeared before him, quickly stopping him.
"Loki stop, you don't want to see."
"How hurt is he?" Loki asked quickly.
"What happened mother?" Thor spoke.
She sighed with a worried face. "He had his leg crushed. We need to get him to the Healing Room."
"Is... Is anything possibly deadly?" Runi questioned.
She shook her head, much to everyone's relief. "No major veins have been cut open, but his injury is serious." She informed. "I sent a message to Farbauti. Why don't you all have lunch and I'll call you up?"
"I'm not hungry! I want to see Koli!" Loki cried out, attempting to go around her.
"Loki..." Koli called suddenly.
He was being lifted onto three stretchers by four soldiers. His lower body was covered in a white sheet, smeared with purple blood. Koli was obviously in pain, but tried his best to keep a calm face. He looked at Loki directly in the eyes.
"I'll be fine," He breathed heavily. "Wait... Wait for your mother."
Loki's eyes shined with pooling tears, but he nodded. "Yes Koli."
Frigga put her hand on his shoulder as she walked him and the other children away. As they walked back into the castle, Odin walked towards them.
"I received the news, is Koli in any critical danger?"
"No, but..." Frigga looked at the children. You can ask the healers for more details."
"I will." Odin looked at Loki, who was still distressed. "Do not worry, little one. Koli is one of the strongest warriors I have ever met. He faced a King and won. I will make sure he gets the best care he can."
Loki nodded at him. "Thank you King Odin."
"I have some work to do, but I will see how everything is."
He bowed respectfully, then left.
"Are you going to eat that?" Volstagg asked pointing to Loki's bread.
Loki shook his head, staring at his plate. Volstagg quickly snatched it up and scarfed it down.
"And your meat?"
Loki shook his head again, allowing Volstagg to eat up his dried beef.
"And your po-"
"Stop it!" Fandral shouted smacking his hand.
"Ow!"
"Koli's hurt and you're feasting like you haven't eaten in days!" Thor yelled.
"Just because I'm hungry, doesn't mean I'm not worried!" Volstagg argued as he crossed his arms.
"It's fine, really." Loki mumbled.
Glut took his hand. "He'll be fine, Loki."
They heard footsteps pound. Frigga walked in, Farbauti followed her. As soon as Loki saw his mother he jumped into her arms. Farbauti let him rest and cry into her shoulder. She had a sullen face as she whispered into his ear.
"Hush, little one. It will be fine."
Thor stood up and bowed. "Queen Farbauti, it's nice to meet you."
"You as well." Farbauti spoke.
The Jotun children gathered around her with worried faces.
"Did Queen Frigga tell you?" Ulla asked.
"Yes. I'm sure Koli will be fine."
"Mama, I'm scared." Loki sniffled.
"I am too, but Koli is strong."
A servant came in, bowed. "My Queens, Princes, Ladies and Lords, Koli is now stable.
Koli was laid down on something called a "Soul Forge" to look at his leg. They had to put beds on both ends of it so Koli could lay down completely. They gave him some pain reliever potions, and examined his leg. It was crushed to the point where it didn't look like a leg structure at all. Koli's jaw dropped to see the fragments that were once a complete leg bone. They put some sort of machine with a jewel mounted on it that made his whole body glow, and soon healers began to set his bones back in place and restore them. They said it was an emergency operation to get him stable, but it wouldn't take long, so Koli asked not to be put under. It was painful, but quick, and he was stable in a little over an hour. When they finished, they wrapped up his leg and brought him nutrient based, soft foods for lunch.
"At least it's better than penguin shit." Koli thought.
A healer came in, looking at some papers with a plain face. He then looked at Koli.
"I have some bad news for you Koli. But Queen Farbauti has arrived, and everyone's waiting to come see you." He said. "Do you want me to tell you now, or when everyone's here?"
"Everyone at once." Koli requested.
He nodded. "Send them in."
The door opened. Loki walked in first and looked at the healer, who nodded at him. He ran to Koli and grabbed his arm.
Koli smiled and gently patted his head. "It's going to take a lot to bring down this old soldier."
Farbauti and the others came in as well. She sat down and grabbed his other hand. He smiled at her and lightly grasped her hand.
"You didn't have to come see me." Koli spoke.
"Yes I did." She bent over and hugged him, then kissed his cheek. "I was so worried."
He hugged her back with one arm. "You know I've been through worse."
Soon everyone was talking and checking how Koli was doing. Odin had come in with Pavel, and spoke to the healer.
"Koli, I'm afraid your injuries were more severe than we once thought." The healer announced.
The room quieted. Farbauti grasped Koli's hand a little tighter. Loki bit his lip.
"Your leg was badly damaged to the extent where some of the nerves were severed. We tried to mend them, but some were already weak and severed to begin with, ."
"How is that possible?" Frigga asked.
"I know how." He spoke, taking a deep breathe. "Back when I fought Laufey, he froze my leg. I fell and it shattered. I always had a weak leg after that."
"The pieces of ice must already have cut and debilitated some." The healer looked at Koli. "I'm afraid you'll never have complete use of that leg ever again. You will need to have it straightened and supported, and you will need to have a cane."
Koli took a deep breathe as he fell back into his pillow. Farbauti put her head on his chest and Loki hugged his arm. Frigga sat down next to him.
"I'm sorry, Koli."
"Don't be, I brought this on myself." Koli adjusted his back so he could sit up slightly. "I let some of the other workers bait me into carrying more than I should or could." He patted Loki's head again. "Never let your pride get the best of you." He looked at the other children. "Any of you."
They nodded in agreement.
Odin walked next to Koli also. "The workers were taunting you?"
"Yes, and I fell for it... Literally."
Odin turned to Pavel. "Get Heimdall, find all the workers that mistreated him and deduct their wages to pay for Koli's treatment."
"Yes, All-Father." Pavel bowed, then left.
"Another thing, Koli." The healer said. "It would be unwise to move you in this state, I'm afraid you're going to have to stay in Asgard for at least a week so we can fully heal and treat you."
Koli nodded. "I understand, thank you."
Koli looked at the Jotun children, and rested his gaze on Loki.
"I think it's time for all of you to go."
"No!" Loki shouted.
He reached up and clung to Koli's neck, tears run down his cheeks.
"Loki, you can't-" Farbauti began.
"No! I want to stay! I want to stay with Koli!"
"Loki, it won't be long. I'll be home before you know it." Koli comforted.
"I want to stay! I want to stay!" He cried into Koli's chest.
"Loki, you're being ridiculous! Now come with me or I'll ground you for a week!" Farbauti said, reaching for his hand.
"No mama! The last time I was away from Koli he almost got hurt! I don't wanna go, mama! I don't wanna!"
His sobs and words were getting louder and sloppier. He was swinging his legs, burying his head and hanging onto Koli like his life was on the line.
"I 'anna *hic* stay... I 'anna stay." He started hiccuping.
"Loki..." Farbauti sighed.
Frigga put her hand on Farbauti's shoulder. "He's still traumatized, Farbauti, we can take care of him."
"But, his lessons and..." Farbauti paused.
"Jotuns and Asgardians both use runes to write, and we can teach simple math."
Farbauti didn't reply, but looked down at her son. His eyes were huge and pleading. She sighed in defeat and knelt down next to him.
"Are you sure?"
He sniffled and nodded. "Yes mama."
"What do you think, Koli?"
He looked at Loki and gently patted his back. "I want you to go home. But I know you still are afraid." He held him closer.
Farbauti took a handkerchief and cleaned Loki's face. "Fine, you can stay."
Loki's face lit up as he happily snuggled his head into Koli's neck. "Thank you mama."
Koli smiled. "Loki, I know you want to stay for me, but if you really want to go home, go. I'll be fine. Promise?"
"I promise."
Thor jumped up next to Loki. "You can stay next to my room."
"I'll come and visit when I can." Farbauti said.
"We can come visit Thor and Loki everyday, right?" Fandral asked his friends.
"Yeah!" Volstagg said.
"Of course." Sif replied.
"Can we visit too?" Glut requested.
Farbauti bent down. "Whenever you can, I'll have Dagr take you." She looked at Koli again. "I'll go talk to the Council about changing your indentured servitude."
"Thank you."
"Everyone, Koli needs to have another treatment, you all have to leave." The healer said as he walked in.
Farbauti bent down and kissed Koli and hugged him one last time.
"I love you, and I'll see you later."
"I love you too." He whispered.
Farbauti took Loki's hand and everyone left.
It was late evening, after dinner. Farbauti had sent over some clothes for Loki and Koli, and the other Jotuns left. All the children had gathered in Thor's room to read stories as Frigga helped prepare a bedroom beside Thor's.
"'So Beowulf went to kill the dragon as it... De-so-la-ted the village.'" Thor enunciated.
Loki watched the picture animation of the dragon spit fire on the village. "Jotuns actually hunted dragons before."
Sif looked up. "Really?"
"Yes. The reason why you can't sneak up on dragons is because they can sense heat coming off your body. But Jotuns don't have heat."
"I wonder if it works with Bilge Snipes..." Volstagg wondered.
They heard the door open, and Frigga walked in.
Thor looked up and smiled. "Mother, is the room ready?"
"Is Koli's treatment done?" Fandral asked.
"Yes, and yes."
"Can we go see him?" Loki asked with a smile.
"He's been medicated heavily, and will need to rest through the night." Frigga informed. "But you can see him tomorrow."
Loki's smile sunk back into a frown. "I will."
"I'm sorry, but I can show you your room."
The children followed her next door. It was lit dimly, because Frigga knew that Jotuns were more comfortable in the dark. The air was also charmed to be the temperature of a chilly breeze. The bed was big and covered in fur.
"I can adjust the temperature and lights if you want, and I already told the cook to make more dried foods." Frigga walked over to the curtains. "I could also open the window or even charm it to filter out the sunlight."
"It's fine, thank you Queen Frigga." Loki spoke.
She knelt in front of him. "Come and tell me if there's anything else I could do to make you feel more comfortable, my room and Odin's is just down the hall. And another thing." She put her hands on his shoulders. "If you really want to go home, come and get me or Odin anytime of day. We'll take you to Heimdall and accompany you home."
"I won't, but thank you."
Frigga turned to Sif, Hogun, Fandral and Volstagg. "I think it's time for you all to go home."
They bowed. "Thank you, All-Mother."
"Bye Loki, bye Thor." Sif said.
"See you tomorrow." Volstagg waved.
"Tell me when Glut, Glod and Ulla are back." Fandral said, putting his hands behind his back.
"Farewell." Hogun spoke.
They all exited, leaving Thor and Loki. Frigga had made sure they were bathed, dressed and comfortable before bed. Loki hugged himself in his soft fur shift. He did miss home, but he would miss Koli more.
"Are you ready to go to bed?" Frigga asked him.
Thor had promised to wait in his bed until Loki was tucked in.
"Uh? Oh, yes."
She looked a little worried. "Are you sure you're fine?"
"Yes."
"Remember what I told you." Frigga said guiding him into his room. "Come get us anytime."
Soon Loki arrived to his bed. He climbed in, it was actually a little harder than his bed at home, but he didn't mind. Loki quickly swirled into his sheets and rested. Frigga walked beside him.
"Comfortable?"
"Yes."
"Do you want a story? Lullaby? Glass of water?"
Loki shook his head.
"Very well, a servant will wake you up in the morning." She took off his charmed necklace, then walked to the door. "Do you want any lights on?"
"No."
With the wave of the hand the sconces went out, leaving the room dark. "Good night, sweet dreams."
"Good night."
The door shut. Loki closed his eyes, hoping sleep would bring him blissful dreams. A few minutes past, then ten, then thirty, then an hour. Sleep would not come. His body missed Jotunheim. The cold, the sound of the wind, the comfort that his mother and Koli was nearby. As sad as it was, he actually missed his mother less than Koli. But he rationalized it, she had gone on trips away before, Koli never did. He never recalled a day without him being near. Even the morning after Loki was taken, Koli never left his side. He had barely spent any time with him today. He sat up and hugged himself again.
"Koli..." He whispered to the dark.
Nothing. Whimpering, he tried again.
"Koli." He sniffled.
Only the quiet answered him. He felt a couple stray tears fall on his knees.
"Papa..." He sobbed silently.
Ice began to form around him.
"Papa...!" He groaned.
The door cracked open. Loki looked up hopefully. A small, fair head peeked out.
"Loki? Why are you still up? Is something wrong?" Thor asked.
Loki made a pathetic attempt to hide his tears. "No... What are you still doing up?"
"I went to check the hallway for monsters." Thor said stepping in, a little wooden hammer in one hand. "I heard you. You're crying."
Loki turned away and dried his tears with his wrist. "No I'm not."
"You're not a good liar." Thor muttered as he sat next to him, he saw the ice formed on the bed. "It's fine, I still have accidents too."
"My crystal's off, I froze the bed because I was upset...Wait, you still have accidents?"
Thor's faced turned red. "No I don't."
"But-"
"Why were you upset?" Thor asked, quick to change the subject.
"What do you care?" Loki said.
Thor frowned. "I care because you're my friend."
Loki sniffled again. He didn't mean to be bitter.
"I'm sorry." Loki spoke. "I miss Jotunheim... But I really miss Koli." He closed his eyes. "I never truly had a papa. And Koli's always been there. And now he's hurt and I can't see him."
Thor frowned again. He loved his father, even if he was strict with him sometimes. Thor saw Loki cared a lot for Koli, and the other way around too. Thor reached over and grabbed Loki's enchanted necklace.
"Then let's go see him." Thor decided.
Loki looked at him. "Are you sure?"
"If we get in trouble I'll take the blame." Thor slid off the bed. "Come on."
Loki hesitated, but out on the necklace and hopped off the bed. Through the moonlit halls Loki followed Thor. He knew shortcuts, hiding places and even secret passages. In ten minutes the two were in front of the Healing Room.
"Do you think anyone else is in there?" Loki asked.
"No."
Loki reached for the door knob slowly. He turned it and cracked it open. The room was dark and empty, heavy breathes were heard from within. Loki gestured for Thor to walk in with him. The pair tip-toed in, then looked around. Loki saw the long, unmistakable outline of Koli. He was sleeping, his leg was wrapped tight and his arm dangled off the bed and nearly touched the floor.
Loki slowly walked next to him and sat down. He smiled at Koli, even if he couldn't see. He gently took his large fingers so he wouldn't wake him. Sighing softly, Loki rested his head into his palm. Koli stirred slightly, but didn't wake. Thor watched Loki for a bit. He suddenly felt thankful. His father wasn't handicapped ("Well, he was, just not as life changing." he thought) and his father wasn't kept away from his mother. He sat down next to Loki.
"It's fine." He said.
Loki nodded in reply. They said nothing else. Loki leaned against the wall, Koli's hand still near his cheek, and closed his eyes. Thor leaned against the wall as well and relaxed.
As light rolled over Koli's eyes he awoke. Smacking his dry lips, he turned to see it was dawn. Suddenly, he felt something on his hand. Looking down to his side he saw a strange, but sweet sight. Loki had curled up with his hand and slept against the the wall. And beside him was Thor, also sleeping, snoring lightly with only his head up against the wall and body lazy on the floor, a small hammer in one hand. He smiled for a bit, then began to nudge Loki's face.
"Hey... Hey you two." He whispered.
Loki groaned lightly and slowly blinked his eyes. Koli then tugged Thor's collar. He stopped snoring, rolled his shoulders and looked up.
"Good morning, sleepy-heads." He said.
Loki hugged his arm. "Good morning, Koli."
"When did you two come in?"
"Last night." Thor replied. "He wanted to see you, so I took him."
"You could have woken me up." Koli said, then sighed. "It's nice to see you, but you should head back to your rooms and get more sleep. I'll see you later."
Loki's face sunk down. "Yes Koli."
Thor pulled his hand. "Come on, I'll show you the way back."
The two scampered out, closing the door behind them.
"Oh, thank you Thor. This really means a lot." Loki spoke.
"What are friends for?" He replied.
Loki followed him down a couple stairs.
"Hey Thor, do you have any siblings?" He asked. "Because there's a couple other rooms around yours..."
"No, I was supposed to... Then mother lost the baby."
Loki stopped in his tracks. "I'm sorry. My mama can't have any other children either."
"I'm sorry too."
"That's right, Loki. The double 'o' in choose makes the 'ooo' sound, not the 'oh' sound. The same with loose." The instructor said.
Thor raised his hand. "But 'bruise' has the same sound, but different spelling."
"That's a good point, Thor, but that's for another time." She replied. "The lesson is over for today. You both did well."
Thor and Loki got up from their chairs, then walked outside together. They had eaten lunch and finished their studies and had the rest of the day to play. It was already five days after the Loki's arrival, Thor had shown Loki all of the castle and the other Jotuns managed to visit six times, two times they visited twice in one day. They were waiting for Sif, Volstagg, Fandral and Hogun to arrive for their usual playtime.
"Sif said that we were going to meet outside of the banquet hall. Why don't we go watch the apprentices spar in the courtyard? It's right next to it." Thor suggested.
"Sure."
Loki became a usual sight for most of the servants, so they didn't beat an eye as he past. But visitors were shocked to see a little blue boy tagging along with Thor and his friends. One was so shocked that he fainted, then again he was an elf from Alfhiem, and they did have some strange diseases there. The two arrived near the courtyard and sat on some stone benches nearby. There were several pits of sand were warriors spared furiously. And much to Loki's fascination, some even practiced spells.
"I need to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back." Thor said.
"Yeah. You don't want to have an accident."
Thor huffed and grumbled, then strutted away. Loki laughed to himself and sat there watching. He swung his legs and hummed as he watched the magic user make a random clay pot explode.
"So it's true, there are Jotuns here."
Loki turned to see a group of several Asgardian children, some a little older than him. Loki smiled and nodded.
"I'm Prince Loki Laufeyson." Loki said.
"Laufey was a murderer." A girl spoke.
Loki looked down in shame. "I know he was, but-"
"So you admit it!" A boy shouted, walking towards him.
"Uh, yes, but-"
"Then why are you here?" A tall boy asked, also walking closer to him.
Loki backed up. He wasn't very strong yet. He couldn't wrestle down Logi, let alone take on a group.
"Please... I'm not like him..."
"You all are the same." The tall boy said. "Killing, plundering, just like you did with my father."
"I'm sorry. I really am. But that wasn't me..."
He lunged forward, hitting Loki's cheek. He quickly jumped back before more damage was done. Loki's fear took hold of him, logic left his mind. Another had a rock. He was getting closer.
"HEY!"
A smaller rock flew and knocked the large rock out of his hand. Sif, armed with her slingshot and wooden sword, walked in front of Loki.
"You must be some really awful people to judge someone for race." She said, depositing another rock into the sling.
"Stay away Sif, you want-to-be-warrior."
Her cheeks turned red. "Say that again, I dare you."
He yelped and backed away, being snickered at by the others.
"We can still take you both on."
"What's going on?"
Thor ran in and stood between them. He saw the scared look on Loki's face and the dark mark on his cheek.
"Thor, you know this Jotun?" The girl asked.
"Yes, he's my friend." Thor looked at them with
The others looked at him with disdain.
"You're what?" The first boy asked.
"He's my friend." Thor said walking in front of him.
"You're friends with a monster?"
Thor's eyes darkened. He clenched his fists. In the blink of an eye Thor had pinned him down, and started hitting him in the face.
"He's! Not! A! Monster!" Thor shouted with each hit.
"Thor stop!" Loki cried out.
"He's my brother! And if you ever hurt him again, I swear I'll-"
"Thor!"
Frigga ran up to him and dragged him off the other boy. Thor squirmed to get out of her grasp, the other boy began to crawl away.
"Thor! What are you doing?!"
"They called Loki monster!" Thor yelled.
"And they hurt him! And threatened me too!" Sif added.
"That gives you no right to initiate violence!" Frigga shouted.
Soon servants arrived and escorted the other boys away. A healer came and took care of Loki's bruise, while Thor was talking with Frigga.
"You're going to be punished, whether you like it or not!" She scolded.
"But mother!"
She huffed, then bent down and put her hand on his head. "I know you were doing what you thought was right, but you can't start fights unless it's absolutely necessary. You could have easily just gotten someone from the yard or just walked away."
"He hurt Loki!"
"Revenge is never the answer, justice is."
Thor grumbled and crossed his arms. Loki walked next to Frigga and tugged her dress.
"Queen Frigga, he protected me. He called me brother. Please..." He spoke.
She looked at his pleading eyes. "I will ask his father to lessen his punishment because it was righteous anger," She glared at Thor. "But he'll still be punished."
Thor managed a small smile. "Thank you mother."
Frigga turned to Loki again. "Your mother's here with some news, and Koli's ready to try a cane."
"Volstagg, Hogun, and Fandral will be here soon." Sif said.
"Let's go then." Loki spoke.
Koli was sitting upward, gentling clutching the black wooden cane he was give. Sucking in his breathe, he slowly began to put weight on his good leg and balanced himself on his cane. He then got his other leg up. It had a sort of brace on it to keep it straight, so he put a little more weight on it. Koli took a deep breathe as he took a step forward with his good leg. One step, good leg, put weight on the cane, then swing the other leg forward. Step, cane, swing. Step, cane, swing. Step, cane, swing. It dawned on him he was to do this all his life. A sudden sorrow washed over him.
"We'll go hunt on the tundras when you're older." He promised Loki. "We'll go to the penguin slopes and slide. We'll climb up that glacier. I want to spar with you one day, and I want you to win."
All the things he wanted to do, or even things he's done constantly, were suddenly lost. He growled to himself. "All because you couldn't withstand taunts." He went back to his bed and sat. "Damn me."
There was a knock on the door. "Koli, visitors."
"Come in."
Farbauti walked in, wearing a purple dyed deer-skin dress and a blue fur coat, which was rather fancy for a usual visit. She was also smiling rather brightly as she sat down beside Koli.
"How are you doing?" She asked him.
"Better." He said simply.
She looked at his leg brace with soft eyes and gently ran her fingers over it. "Have you tried walking yet?"
"Yes, it... It's different." Koli held up his cane. "Very different."
"How are you taking this?"
"Actually, really badly." Koli admitted as he put his cane forward. "I just wasted years of military training, I'm going to be as slow as an old, fat land-locked seal with a limp going up a hill covered in oil, and worse of all... I can't do the things I wanted to with Loki when he grows up."
Farbauti nodded slowly as a small frown appeared. "I'm so sorry."
"I guess there's still some things we can do. Like Ice Fishing. We can just sit there and do nothing." Koli mused.
"It doesn't matter." Farbauti spoke. "Loki loves you because you care about him, he'll just be happy to be with you."
He smiled. "But, Ice Fishing. No sane person likes Ice Fishing!"
"Laufey liked Ice Fishing."
"Exactly my point."
The two laughed, then she gently took his hand. To Koli's surprise, she suddenly kissed him suddenly, and more passionately than he was used to. After pulling away, she giggled at him.
"Why are you so happy?" He asked.
"I have some news, but I want to wait until Loki's here." Farbauti replied. "But first, can I see how well you walk?"
Koli sighed. "All right. But just to let you know, I curse the architect who made the Crystal Palace full of stairs."
Koli slowly began to get up, putting weight on his cane like before. He began to do the step, cane, swing walk again, a little faster than before, Farbauti looked at him pitifully, then stood and took his arm to help him walk.
"Thank you... For everything." Koli said.
"Mama!"
Loki ran in and immediately saw Koli and Farbauti walk around the room together. Soon Frigga, Odin and the other children were there.
"Hello Loki." Farbauti opened her other arm.
Loki went to her side and wrapped her arm around himself. "Koli! You're walking!"
"Kind of!" He replied.
Loki took a closer look at the leg brace. "You can't bend your leg?"
"I can't anymore."
"Does that mean you can't carry me?"
Koli shook his head sadly.
"What... What else can't you do?" Loki asked,
"A lot of things." Koli stretched his other arm down to pat his head. "I'm sorry, I'm afraid that I have some promises to break..."
Loki frowned. "It's fine... I'm just glad it's not worse."
Koli bent his torso down to hug him. "Thank you."
Farbauti and Koli sat down. Farbauti lifted Loki onto her lap and let him sit there.
"Anything interesting happen today?"
"Well..." Loki shifted his weight. "Actually, some other children actually came and called me mean names and... One hit me."
"Are you hurt?" Koli asked quickly.
"No... But Sif and Thor came to help me, Thor even beat one down."
Odin narrowed his eyes at Thor, who looked a little nervous.
"Then... Thor called me his brother."
Farbauti looked at Thor then smiled. Koli did as well. Farbauti gently ran her hands through Loki's hair.
"I have good news for all of you." Farbauti smiled. "I talked and bargained with the Council, then we held a vote."
"For what?" Thor asked.
Farbauti turned towards Koli. "Your indentured servitude has officially been expunged, you are officially the first Ambassador between Jotunheim and Asgard."
"Ambassador... That's a title, is it not?" Odin asked, a slight glimmer in his eye.
Koli's eyes shot open as he looked at Farbauti. "I have a title... That means..."
Farbauti pulled out a necklace, on it was what Jotuns called an Aurora stone. It was a special mineral that somehow caught the light of an Aurora and kept it shining. They were popular with nobles and peasants alike, and some even used it for betrothal necklaces.
"Farbauti... I thought the man was supposed to give it." Koli chuckled.
"You are. Take it." She smiled.
Koli took it quickly. Loki's eyes and smile grew wide. With shaking hands, he held it out to Farbauti.
"Farbauti Brimirdottir... Will you marry me?"
"Yes."
She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him into a deep kiss. Loki jumped up and hugged them both, laughing shrilly. Frigga smiled as she pulled Odin close. The other children cheered as well, Thor even took Sif's hand in joy. After the two broke their kiss, they hugged Loki between them.
"We'll be a real family." Loki smiled. "Mama... Papa..."
Author's Note: Happy Valentine's Day! Thanks for the guesses and reviews. But a couple days after I made the contest, I realized it was kind of unfair and difficult. But the correct answer was the confusions between Loki and Logi, and mythology experts aren't sure whether it was Glut or Glod (who might be the same) who married them. Koli was also a reference to the builder. But after looking over the rules I posted, I decided it was unfair. So, I'll take any prompts any of you send me, if you are a member of send it to me in a PM, if you are anon just put it in the reviews. But those who guessed will be priority, everything else will just be the order I receive it in. The order is those who got closest to the answer (I flipped a coin for the tie):
1. Guest
2. Voldy's pink teddy
3. Dragonfly-Moonlight
Thank you so much! :D
