I'm back! I've missed posting over this last month, but it was a much needed rest. This chapter is mostly fluff and answering questions from last chapter about Santiago possibly going to the University of Washington. Till next time.
After going out for a celebratory dinner with his mom and Brittany's mom and sister, Santiago finally gets some alone time with Brittany. They haven't had time to discuss the fact that Santiago has another full ride option other than Ohio State now.
"So the recruiter just offered you the chance to play football at the University of Washington just like that?" Brittany asks confused as to what's going on.
"I applied to their premed program over the summer when I did all my other applying and apparently they want to offer me a full ride to not only do that, but also play football." Santiago happily says.
"I didn't know you were that into medicine." Brittany says feeling a little hurt she didn't know this.
"I wanted to keep my options open and with you being pregnant it just seems like my best option. You know I've always like medicine, but now I think I want to be a pediatrician." Santiago says wrapping his arms around her.
"So long as it's what you want to do I'm behind you one hundred percent." Brittany tells him kissing his cheek.
"God I love you,"
"So you want to go to Washington?" Brittany asks already knowing the answer.
"If you're cool with it. I know you won't have as much chance to dance, but it will only be two years I can go to med school in LA." Santiago rambles wanting her to know that her dreams will come true too.
"Baby we have some time to decide all that later for now let's just celebrate you going possibly to Washington." Brittany whispers kissing him.
"I'll set up a time for us to visit."
They spend the rest of their weekend just chilling. Maria agreed that the Washington offer was something they should consider and is very proud of her son. Sunday night they're lounging on the couch eating taking out as Maria is working the night shift.
"We should finish up our homework." Santiago says always the responsible one.
"Can't we watch the new Hunger Games movie." Brittany pouts.
"Babe we can't just blow off our homework." Santiago says knowing they need to finish it.
"Yes we can," Brittany pouts even more.
Santiago has to look away, but his resistance crumbles anyway.
"Fine, but only because you're carrying my baby." Santiago says kissing her nose before getting up to put the move in.
That's when it hits Brittany that if he does go to Washington he'll be very far away from her and she doesn't think her mom will let her go with him. Now that she thinks about it she doesn't want him that far away from her and the baby, for two years.
"You're thinking too hard." Santiago whispers sliding behind her.
Do to her hormones him saying that causes her to burst into tears. She starts sobbing into his shoulder.
"Hey baby girl, what's wrong?" Santiago softly asks rubbing her back.
He knows it will be several minutes before she stops crying so he just rubs her back letting her know that he's here when she's ready.
"I don't want you to go to Washington." Brittany softly says hiccupping.
"Hey baby, I thought you were okay with us visiting to see if I'd like it there or if it would be a good fit for us." Santiago says running his hands up and down her arms.
"I was, but then it hit me that you'd be across the country from me for two years." Brittany says tears starting to fall again.
Santiago takes a deep breath not having thought of this big factor either. He had been so caught up with the possibility of getting a full ride that it hadn't occurred to him that he'd be away from his girlfriend and child.
"Baby, I promise that if we can't find a way for you and our child to come to Washington with me then I won't go." Santiago quietly whispers in her ear.
Brittany nods into his chest feeling much better now after hearing him say this.
"I still think we can at least visit the school before we decide." Santiago says wrapping his arms tighter around her.
"I get to help make the decision?" Brittany asks hopefully.
"Babe, since basically the day I met you, you've helped me make every important decision in my life." Santiago says.
Flashback
Santiago stands at the door to his best friend's house unsure of wither he should knock or just go back home. His dad is actually home for the first time he can remember. He's ten and Brittany's only eight and doesn't want to unload all of this on her.
"Santiago sweetie come in it's freezing out here." Susan says ushering the young boy in. "Brittany's up in her room."
Santiago nods, giving her a smile before heading up to Brittany's room. He pauses outside the door debating yet again wither he should go in or not. He knows the moment that his best friend sees him she'll know something's off with him.
"Sanny?" Brittany says frowning.
Santiago turns around to see his best friend.
"Hey Britt," Santiago says pulling her into a hug.
"Why are you here? I thought you couldn't hang out this week." Brittany says still frowning.
"I did, but I need your help." Santiago whispers leading Brittany into her room.
"What do you need help with?" Brittany asks happy that she can actually help her best friend with something.
"My dad's back-"
Brittany cuts him off by tackling him onto the bed hugging him.
"That's great right, you always talk about how you want to spend time with your dad cause he's never around." Brittany says smiling at him.
"My mom told me he left when I was a baby." Santiago softly says which causes Brittany to frown. "That she thinks he's only in town for a few weeks until he finds some new woman to chase after so I don't have to spend time with him if I don't want to."
Brittany wraps her arms around him and hugs him tightly to her.
"You don't have to see your dad if you don't want to." Brittany softly says not completely understanding, but knows enough about her best friend that he doesn't actually want to see his dad.
"I don't know if I should though." Santiago sighs.
Santiago doesn't know if he wants to see his dad or not and just wants Brittany to tell him what to do. She's good at reading people and knowing exactly what to do and say in any situation.
"Your mom is amazing and if your dad doesn't want to be around you can share my dad." Brittany says shrugging figuring this might be a better option.
"Really?" Santiago asks shocked she offered.
"Of course daddy really like you and trusts you to keep me safe. He also sees you as the son he doesn't have according to my mom." Brittany says smiling at him.
"Thanks Britt, I don't think I'll see my dad."
End Flashback
Brittany can't help, but smile at how thoughtful her boyfriend is and how grateful she is that he always counts her in all his decisions.
"So we'll go over Christmas break after Christmas to look at the school and if you like it talk to our moms about it." Brittany says starting the movie again.
He chuckles at how ten minutes ago she had been freaking out about not possibly seeing him every day to now just calmly saying that they'll decide later. He pulls her back snug against his front, sliding his hand under her shirt to rub her bump.
This is their first quiet evening together they've had in a while with all the shit they've been busy with. Not only that, but they finally have the house to themselves as Maria has the night shift tonight.
"Are you going to play basketball this year?" Brittany asks her eyes not leaving the TV screen.
"No, I was thinking that I should get a job. To you know help my mom pay for the baby and stuff." Santiago says shrugging.
"I don't want you to give up anything in your senior year for me and the baby." Brittany says turning to hid her head in his chest as Criminal Minds comes on.
"Britt, I want to get a job. It's not going to stop me from having a kickass senior year." Santiago softly tells her.
"So long as you don't feel like you're forced to give things up." Brittany says smiling.
Brittany curls even more into Santiago smiling. She's beyond happy that everything is going rather smoothly for them now. Quite nights like this she knows will be hard to come by once the baby is born so she's enjoying it while they have it. He runs his hands through her hair as she watches TV and she's lulled to sleep.
"Baby it's getting late, let's go to bed." Santiago whispers kissing the top of her head.
"I'm comfy here."

Maria is slightly shocked to see Susan sitting in the hospital cafeteria. Not just that, but she's in nurses scrubs. She hadn't been aware that Susan had taken up nursing again. After Katie was born she knew her friend had quit to take care of her two daughters and often times her son when she was at work.
"Hey Maria," Susan says waving her friend over.
"Susan, when did you start working here?" Maria asks giving her friend a side hug before sitting down.
"I started last week when I filed for divorce." Susan says.
"What? You actually filed?" Maria asks quite shocked.
She never knew Susan had it in her to actually file divorce. She thought that Riley would have been the one.
"Yeah I know I was shocked even myself." Susan chuckles.
"I take it you haven't told the girls yet as San hasn't said anything about it." Maria says happy that her friend seems happy.
"I haven't figured out how to tell them yet. I know Brittany will understand, but Katie won't. I don't want them to think I never loved their father because I did." Susan says glad she has someone to vent to.
"They won't think that, those girls know that you and Riley both love them and just want what you each think is right for them. Katie may not completely understand, but she will in time." Maria tells her friend.
"Thanks Maria, I needed that." Susan says smiling at her friend. "So when do you think the kids will realize that if Santiago goes to Washington he'll be across the country from Brittany and the baby?" she asks.
"Probably tonight as I think it's starting to sink in." Maria sadly says.
"You really want him to go to Washington don't you?" Susan asks.
"It's not even the scholarship, he has one from Ohio State too, but I know he wants to go to med school and Washington has a great program that he got into." Maria says not wanting to make Susan feel bad.
"You know they'll work it out, but if he's really interested in going there then maybe we should all consider moving there." Susan says shocking Maria.
"What?"
"Once my divorce is final I'll have no ties to Ohio anymore so why not move to where they are." Susan says smiling at the idea.

Santiago finally manages to convince Brittany to go to bed while he finishes their homework. That was two hours ago and now it's eleven and he's about to head up to bed himself when Brittany shouts for him. Thinking the worse he runs upstairs to their room throwing the door open.
"What is it baby?" Santiago says scrambling over to her.
"We have to go pick up my sister." Brittany says getting up.
"Sweetie just relax, your sister has a key to the house and is capable of walking across the lawn to get here." Santiago says trying to get her to go back to bed.

"It's getting stormy outside and she's scared." Brittany says allowing him to pick her up.
"Then let's go get her." Santiago says willing to do anything for his girl.
Brittany smiles wrapping her arms around his neck snuggling into him as he carries her down to the truck. If she ever had any doubts about him before they're defiantly all gone now, he's going to make a great dad. Her boyfriend is the best thing that's ever happened to her and she can't imagine having a baby with anyone else.
"So where does her friend live?" Santiago asks as he places her in the truck gently before running over to his side.
"Crap I have to ask her whose house she's at." Brittany says digging around her purse for her phone.
"Baby calm down everything will be fine." Santiago calmly says knowing that in their relationship he normally has to be the calm, rational one to offset his girlfriend's absentmindedness and colorful way of looking at the world.
'Katie,' Brittany says finally having found her phone.
'Britty, are you and Sanny coming to get me?' Katie sobs.
'Yes, but whose house are you staying at?'
'Jess's,'
'Okay Katie we'll be there very soon.'
"So which way are we going?" Santiago asks.
"Two rights and a left. Jess's house is the bright blue one on the right." Brittany tells him giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you for doing this."

Santiago drives them the few blocks over to Jess's house.
"Stay here babe, I'll be right back." Santiago says kissing her cheek.
He jumps out of the car and runs to the door wishing that he had on more than a thin t-shirt and basketball shorts. Tapping his foot he waits for one of Jess's parents to open the door.
"Brit- you're not a Pierce." a woman with short brown hair says and Santiago assumes she's Jess's mom.
"No, I'm Santiago Brittany's boyfriend, she's in the car." Santiago offers thinking that it will worry her less to know that he's not a stranger.
The woman looks around him to the truck smiling when she sees Brittany smiling at her.
"I see, you're the boyfriend that Katie is always talking about." the woman says.
"Sanny!" Katie shouts jumping down the stairs and straight into his arms.
"Hey Katie, let's get your stuff and head home." Santiago says smiling at the little girl in his arms.
"I have…..you're really big." Jess says staring up at Santiago.
"He's really nice and fun to play with." Katie says climbing onto his shoulder.
"Jess give him Katie's bag so we can all go to sleep." Jess's mom says yawning.
"Have a good rest of the night." Santiago says picking up the bag and walking out to his truck.

By the time they get back home and settle Katie into the guest room it's midnight. Brittany yawns as they make their way to their room.
"She'll be out for the night now." Brittany says crawling into bed after flinging off all her clothes.
"We should get to sleep soon too. We do have school in the morning." Santiago says removing all his clothes and climbing into bed.
He lays flat on his back stretching his arms out as he waits for her to crawl into his arms. Though she has other plans completely. Instead of snuggling into his side like she normally does, she straddles him smirking as his eyes go straight to her boobs.
