Xardia: Yeah...so about that chapter being easy, it didn't turn out to be that way. Honestly it should have been easy enough to do, but I'm a very easily distracted person, not to mention I work for a living.

Stein: I can attest to her being distracted, but I'll also say she's lazy.

Xardia: Stein! Why would you say I'm lazy?!

Stein: For it's the truth. If you just dedicated an hour or perhaps two, this chapter would've been up by now. Not to mention you might have gotten a couple more chapters at this point as well.

Xardia: *Pout* That's mean, Stein.

Stein: The truth hurts doesn't it.

Xardia: Anyway, let's start the chapter!

Disclaimer: I don't own Soul Eater! It belongs to Atsushi Ookubo and him alone. The only thing I own out of this deal is the fanfic, nothing else.

Chapter 10:

Mystery Student Stable

Dating Chrona is Okay With Stein?

I immediately saw Kid hanging outside of the closed off bed area when I entered the room. For a moment Kid looked up and his eyes grew big.

"I'm sorry professor, but she was losing blood real fast and it turned out she needed stitches. Miss Marie was freaking out so I had to take control of the problem for her. I'm the only one here looking after Aika beside the fact of Nygus stitching her up of course," Kid quickly explained to me.

Things don't certainly look too good.

"Since I've got the time to listen, can you explain to me what has been exactly going? Who were those kids exactly? What does it have to do with her and the issue at hand? You left with Chrona before telling me anything."

"I guess there is no better place to start than the beginning."

I nod my head in agreement in gesture to begin his tale. It took Kid moment to organize his thoughts, but once they were aligned, the story began.

I didn't know which part to be mad about most; this Aika girl not asking for help, or the bullies that have caused her pain. The thoughts were definitely combating on which one makes me more angry. Though now is not the time to blow a gasket (no matter how tempting). It certainly won't help the current situation.

At this point, Kid and I were waiting on Nygus to finish the stitching job on Aika. Which wasn't much longer when Nygus appears from out of the curtains to wash up. Though it was obvious the knife weapon was surprised to see me when I wasn't in the room before.

"Stein? Why are you here," inquired Nygus.

"Checking up on a student. Before now it was reported to me that the student you just mended was in my house bleeding all over the place."

"I see, well she's fine now. She loss quite a bit of blood so I had to get her a transfusion of O negative. Right now it's hard to guess when she'll wake up since I don't know the situation she was in. Though I know one thing that whatever she was into, it was probably a death threat of sorts," Nygus replied with a shake of her head.

"A death threat indeed. I can handle things from here, Nygus."

"Are you sure? You look like you might need some help." Replied Nygus.

"No, I'll be good."

Nygus shrugged, then left the room to do whatever she needed to do. After Nygus left the room, I checked on Aika. Not that I doubted Nygus medical abilities, but I wanted to do my own look over.

Entering through the curtains. I instantly went over and examined her body. Like Nygus said, she's not in a stable state and just needed some rest. Finally getting a chance, I looked at her face and thought oddly how she looked familiar. Aika...Aika...Aika. Nope nothing. If I stop thinking about it, maybe the answer will come to me in time. Since Aika seemed to be alright, I left her so she could continue to sleep for the time being.

"Kid, I need to speak to you at my place, so I'll need you to come with me."

For a moment Kid looked confused, but he shrugged then nodded his head as a reply. With that we both left the room quietly heading to my place.

"Hey what did you do with Kane, Seth, and Casper," Kid asked as his voice was almost silent on the last name.

"They're in the detention cells for now until their punishment is officially handed to them. Which of course won't happen until we get all sides of the story and make a proper judgment of the case afterward."

"I see. You said 'cells', do you mean they all individually got their own cell or-"

"Casper is alone while the other two are together? He's indeed away from the other two. I made sure to ask your father to have such arrangement made. If Kane and Seth are together or not, I doubt there will be any real trouble to come from it either way. Neither of them could plan their out out of a box anyway."

"That's good...," Kid replied tapered as he looked to the sky.

"Worried about Casper? Don't be, I doubt he'll get much harm done to him, unlike the other two. From what I can tell, they won't be able to recover from this offense in the least. Your father won't let such behavior go unchecked."

"Yeah, you're right. Father doesn't let cases like this off easy," Kid said with a small smile.

"Right, have faith in your father, Kid. For if he wasn't just, do you think Chrona would still be here at the academy learning, become my daughter, and most important of all your girlfriend?"

At my response, Kid went into a complete halt and turned his full attention to me. I took that as a cue to stop as well and look to the shinigami in training.

"Wait a minute, since when did you find out we were dating," Kid inquired wide eyed.

I couldn't help but let a small chuckle escape my lips. Who does Kid think he's fooling? I've been watching him and the rest of the crew since I ran into all of them. Whether they know it or not, I more or less know what is going on with all of them at all times. Plus a crush as obvious as Kid's and Chrona's isn't hard to spot at all.

"In my eyes you two have been dating for awhile. That may not be the actual fact, but that doesn't really matter. You may have only been dating for a couple days now, though with the way you two have acted around each other since you've known each other, it's been for longer."

"Was I really that obvious," Kid asked as his face redden to a similar color as Liz and Patty's shirts.

I just simply smile at his question. For he should already know the answer to his on question.

"I wouldn't worry about it too much now. Chrona was just as blind and obvious as you were about the whole thing. As long as you work things out, you two will be fine."

"Stein, as Chrona's adoptive father, don't you think you should feel a little more worried or perhaps even protective," Kid questioned standing up right and his face tight.

What is Kid going on about exactly now? Is there something I should be worried about? After looking at Kid for a moment I realized what he was looking for. Kid's trying to ask for my blessing for them to date. Usually the father grills the boy to see if he's worthy of his daughter's hand. At least, that's how Marie explained it to me one time before seeing her father and mother for the first time. I just find it a bit silly he's asking for this, when he's one of the best that I know of being a gentleman.

"Let me ask you some questions then. Will you ever hurt Chrona?"

Kid's right eyebrow raised and tilted his head on that one.

"Why would I?"

"Past her comfort zone when she has told you to stop?"

"No, that wouldn't be right," Kid answered with his voice going up an octave.

"Cheat on her with another girl?"

"I'd rather hurt myself than cheat on her."

"Protect her from any harm when and if you can?"

"Absolutely," Kid answered with a definite tone.

"See, I have nothing to worry about if it's you who is dating her. Your morals will keep form hurting her in anyway. As for being her adopted father, I'm here if and when she needs me. To this day I'm sure she still regrets what she has done in the past to hurt me and the DWMA."

"That was a long time ago," Kid replied in a more softer sadden tone.

"Not really, it was about 2-3 years ago. Plus, remember who her mother was. Mental scarring to the point Chrona was at doesn't mend itself quickly or easily. Medusa wasn't likely kind to Chrona when it came to punishment if she didn't do something right. Since I haven't done some thing to punish her, she's doing it to herself unconsciously. One day she'll understand she doesn't need to punish herself so badly. Especially since the ones involved don't care about what happened those few years ago. And when she is ready to be comfortable around me, I'll be here for her. It's all up to Chrona how much importance in her life I am to her."

"Doesn't that bother you even a little bit that she is really doesn't confide in you," Kid asked sincerely.

Kid is quite inquisitive right about now, but it's better to get the problems resolved now versus later. Though what I'm trying to figure is what is Kid's deal about Chrona and I's relationship.

"It's understandable that she finds no need to look for me. I'm not her real father, and I didn't become an important life figure until a few years ago. Why do you find it so import that Chrona and I have a strong connection?"

"I guess it's because I have such a great relationship with my father, I want the same for Chrona to be true. She's not always going to confide in me on everything. She's going to need someone she can talk to about certain things she may not be able to speak to me about. Have an important person care for her in a way I can't. Be there for here only a parent can. In the end, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I want Chrona to know what it's like to have a loving family compared to an abusive one."

Ah, now I understand. Kid is a boy who has been loved and adored by his father for long as he can remember. They had times were their relationship was shaky, but always got through it in the end. Lord Death as busy as he can be, always makes time to listen to Kid's thoughts and grievances. A parent and child connection built with respect and love. For Kid who comes from such a situation, it probably bothers him of Chrona's situation that was worse than his own.

Again I smile for Kid's honest concern over Chrona. This only proves my point further that I have nothing to worry about when Kid is dating Chrona.

"Kid, I'm glad you're concerned for Chrona. Just let her go at her own pace, there's no need to be in a rush. Chrona is just fine the way she is. If she wants to improve herself, she can do just that is she wishes to do so."

"Alright...I'll try to stop worrying since you don't seem to be bugged by it so much," Kid said with some hesitancy as he began to walk towards my stitched up home.

"Good."

Xardia: Oh Kid *shakes head* You're such a dear, how could Stein not accept you as Chrona's other half?

Stein: Even Kid can have doubts sometimes.

Xardia: True, at least once in your life one will doubt themselves in something. Nonetheless, aren't you glad Aika appears to be alright?

Stein: Why did you say 'appears to be alright' instead of 'that she's alright'?

Xardia: Oops, that wasn't suppose to slip out.

Stein: Xardia, explain what is going on.

Xardia: No can do, professor.

Stein: Why is that?

Xardia: It'd be a spoiler, so wait your turn.

Stein: You're starting to get on my nerves.

Xardia: Oh you'll get use to it. Though I doubt it helps that I have you on nicotine withdrawal right now. Though enough about that. Glad people are reading this story and perhaps enjoying. Hopefully I'll have another chapter within a week, but no guarantees, because the beginning of Oct. I have a trip to go visit a friend I haven't seen in awhile. The trip will be a week long, so I'll see about getting another chapter up asap. Worse case scenario is that takes me a month to get to another chapter, which I pray doesn't happen. Nonetheless, sorry if you think characters were ooc, it is what is it. Ummm, I also hope to get more readers as well as reviews. Other than that, I think I covered all the bases for now. Goodbye until next time!
