A big thanks to KittyKat and Gugsy for reviewing too!
I decided to focus this chapter (2K+) on the actual future to give an insight how it's like there since the time-travelling incident.
Chapter 10: The Disappearance of Christopher P. Halliwell
Meanwhile, back in the good future...
Everyone was in the manor. The whole family. Coop was holding Phoebe's hand, tensed. While, Paige held Tamora and Kat (A/N They are just a year old here), Piper paced across the room in distress.
"Where on Earth is Leo?" She demanded angrily, yet desperation was clear in her voice.
Soon, Leo arrived, via transportation potion (since he was a mortal). "I heard everything." He whispered, as he automatically wrapped his arms around Piper in comfort. "It''s going to be okay, honey."
"How can it be 'okay', Leo?" She asked, still anxious. "Chris has disappeared. We tried contacting a million ways. None of them worked!"
Phoebe said sympathetically, "Piper, we'll find Chris. Maybe we've missed something out-"
"-We tried everything Phoebe. Orbing, summoning, sensing, spells- everything! It's like he never existed." Piper's voice began to crack, as Leo held her closer.
"I told Henry about this." Paige spoke up, "He'll check for us. Chris's disappearance is bound to be reported to the police by now as a missing person somewhere."
"I knew we shouldn't have let him stay in New York." Muttered Piper, rubbing her temples. "He could have gone University here. Not across the country." She glanced at Leo with glassy eyes. "I don't want to lose him."
"We won't," He assured confidently. "We will find him. One way or another." He will- they will find their son. There is no way he could have possibly vanished from the face of the Earth.
Piper allowed Chris to stay in New York under the condition he would always see them. Chris promised, as long as Piper didn't worry (which obviously she did). He always visited his family. Until now. It had been days since he was missing. The University nor his friends have seen him recently.
The empty manor filled with more despondency with each hour rolling by agonizingly slow. More bad news spilled again in the once vibrant home. Piper was on the verge of tears, as Leo was froze in shock. Phoebe couldn't move a muscle. All colour had drained from her face.
"I think Mel and PJ are missing too." Mumbled Pamela, Phoebe's youngest daughter. Those dreadful words reverberated in the room, and in their minds.
"A-are you sure?" Coop stammered worriedly. Parker, his second daughter, nodded. Surely PJ was at school, or the library, or the park- somewhere! It was impossible. First Chris, and now his niece and own daughter!
"This can be happening, this can be happening." Piper chanted, shaking her head frantically. " No, no,no, no, no. Not them too."
Phoebe was too stunned to speak. It was as if she was stabbed in the heart by a fate's cruel dagger. A silent tear rolled down her face, and more followed like rivulets. "What are we going to do?" She whispered, her throat suddenly dry.
"We'll find a way." Coop reassured, holding his wife's shaky hand. "It must be a Demon. It has to be."
Despair flooded in Leo. Colossal waves of melancholy crashed on top of him, drowning him in fear. Fear of losing his children; fear of being a terrible father. He was supposed to proect them, to help them. This instant, he never felt so powerless in his life.
A achingly familiar feeling rose. The dangerous one. It was just like when past Chris died in his arms. And he couldn't do anything. Helpless. Distraught. Enraged. Leo gritted his teeth. He wasn't going lose his son again, nor his daughter. No, he wouldn't. Abruptly, Leo stood up.
"Piper, " He murmured softly to his wife. "I will get our kids back. I promise."
"Where are you going?"
"To find answers."
"I'm going too." Declared Coop. He never imagined that he would lose his daughter. He should have done something to prevent this chaos. Now he is going to do all he can to get his family back.
It had been a day. Still no answer. Paige handed a mug of coffee each to her two distraught sisters. She couldn't begin to think how they were feeling.
"Phoebe, Piper. You can't carry on being like this." She said quietly. The two were living statues. They both took time of work, trying to deal with the sadness in isolation. Coop and Leo tried to be strong for them, but even they were stressed and upset.
"I..I just want my daughter back." Wept Phoebe, dropping her head in her hands. "I miss her so much." Piper stared out the window with impassive look on her face. Unresponsive.
A bright pink light illuminated the room; Coop and Leo beamed in. They rushed to comfort their wives, respectively. "Anything?" Asked Paige sadly.
They shook their head. "No demons involved."
Seconds went by. Minutes went by. Silence. Whilst Leo was comfortingly hugged Piper in solace, Coop was doing all he can to soothe a tear-stained Phoebe. A shiny blue figure appeared in the room. Lustrous blue orbs formed a tall boy with Blonde hair. Wyatt orbed in with astonishing news.
"I read a book." (A/N Don't worry, that wasn't it!)
He was determined to get his baby sister and little brother back. "I read a book on past lives."
Immediately, thier heads snapped up. They were all intrigued. "It said that if you died in your past life, it can affect your present one. Some thing about unresolved matters, and history repeating its self and all. But it's a rare case."
Phoebe, Piper and Leo had dealt with a similar situation in the past. Phoebe thought back to the time when her evil past life was affecting her present one. Her cousins in her past life then killed her. Phoebe would have died that night if she didn't go back and find out why the warlock, Anton, was after her.
"But what I don't understand is, did Chris die in his past life?"
Piper turned her head to Leo, stoic. "Chris can't be dead." She said firmly. It cannot be true.
"Of course he isn't, Chris saved the future. His future too. This doesn't make sense."
"Can you tell me what's going on?" Asked Wyatt, sitting down on a chair. "Do you know about Chris' past life?"
"But he died." Paige remembered painfully, ignoring Wyatt's question. "What if-"
"NO!" Piper burst out, her voice shattered with the sadness built up inside her. "My little boy is not gone."
"Can someone tell me!?" Asked Wyatt, beginning to get irritated. If this was about his brother, he wanted to know. He didn't spend orbing all over the states, spending hours mediating (which he never did before) to sense Chris and Mel, or reading books for the past day, only to be ignored.
Leo took a deep breath, as he looked at Piper, uncertain. They decided never to talk about evil Wyatt or future Chris saving him. His own little brother risked his life for him, to make sure he didnt turn evil. It was a dark memory that neither Piper nor Leo wanted to relive. Wyatt was 22 now. Perhaps it was time for his to know.
"Wyatt," Leo began, unsure. "When you were a baby, Chris time-travelled from a terrible future."
"What-?"
"He set out to save you from evil. You see, in that future, you were evil."
"That's complete rubbish!" He objected, feeling deeply offended. Wyatt hated evil. Everything about it was loathsome. The selfishness and arrogance. The insatiable greed for ultimate power. And their sadistic sense of humour was despicable. He could never imagine himself...evil. It was sounded like a load of crap.
"Chris came and to stop you from turning evil." Piper continued, regardless of Wyatt's remark. "But he died in the process."
"How?" Wyatt growled in silent rage. A mixture of emotion reflected in his voice, hurt and shock being the two dominant ones.
There was a silence. Piper nor Leo wanted to give the answer.
"Gideon, an Elder." Paige spoke up, pools of tears forming in her eyes. "He thought you were too powerful, and decided to kill you for the greater good. But instead Chris was stabbed with a dagger, when he tried to stop him. Gideon's magic was insidious, and Chris..." She bit her lips to stop herself from crying. The heart-aching image of Chris disappearing flashed in her mind.
The emotions tumbled back down on Leo. Helplessness. Shock. Guilt. Rage. Vengeance. Sorrow. Failure. Leo walked out the room, refusing to listen to the rest. It was too over-whelming for him to endure.
"He was gone." Paige finished, as a disobedient tear slid down her pale cheek.
Pamela and Parker walked through streets, trudging. They didn't want to think about it. The wanted to get away from the despair. Their cousins and big sis disappeared. Why? Why did it have to be them? Who did it? What do they want? So many question left unanswered.
"Pam." Parker said, smiling reassuringly at her younger sister. "You know what PJ would have said to us if she saw us like this?" Her 13-year old sister shook her head, wiping her tears.
"She'd tell us that crying won't get us anywhere. Instead, we should hatch a plan to help."
"How?" Pam asked pessimistically, "Even Mom, Dad, Uncle Leo, Aunt Piper, Wy-"
"Well that's them. We'll find our own special way."
"Like detectives or something?"
"Why not?"
The two walked around the streets and through the park, trying to sense even a little glimpse of something. Anything that resembled of PJ, Chris or Melinda.
After a while, "I sense something!" Parker exclaimed. It didn't feel like PJ, Chris nor Mel. But she felt a faint sense of strong magic. So faint they wouldn't be able to sense it if they weren't so close, or concentrating so hard. "Follow me Pam!"
Quickly, Pam raced after her big sister. It was almost sunset. The sky turned orange, as the birds flew across the sky, back home. The sun getting ready to sleep, as stripes of redness appeared in the sky. Pam and PJ still ran, exhausted, but excitement persevered them. They must have ran for twenty five minutes already.
"Parker! Wait up!" Shouted Pam, slowing down.
"Just a little bit more left!" Parker held Pam's hand leading her.
They came to a grassy area. Clouds dissipated, leaving the late sky painted deep yellow. Small flowers were sitting on the viridescent, long swaying grass, and a squirrel peered down the tree looking at the visitors.
"Where is it?" Pam panted, trying to catch her breath.
Parker pointed straight ahead; a huge Oak tree stood peacefully. Parker examined the area which surrounded the Oak tree. It seemed ordinary. Except the tree was ten times bigger than an average Oak tree. The enormous leaves were the hanging off the lofty branches, enough to shade a million insects.
"Parker!" Pam called, her tone somewhat frightened. "Look!"
On one side the tree a pentagram was drawn on with chalk. Pam carefully picked up a crumpled piece of paper: a spell.
"PJ and Mel must have been here." Parker noted, staring at the scrunched up paper.
The spell was written in their handwriting. It had a lot of scribbled out words and then rewritten phrases. There were also some wierd symbols and obscure codes written too, and some words had a darker outline than others. Luckily, it was somehow legible.
"I think I know where they went." She mumbled, reading the spell with difficulty:
Hear these words,
Hear the rhyme,
Heed the wish hope,
Within my mind,
Return back this time,
So it may rewind.
Send me to where I will find,
What I need in space and mind.
A/N: ...Just a quick note, I will refer to this chapter later on the story. Just to clarify: the Chris that disappeared is Past Chris' FUTURE counterpart; ie. good Wyatt/Melinda's brother. And time moves slower in the future too. Please review for the next chapter.
Thank you sooo much for all the support so far! I'm hoping to get atleast 7 reviews for this chapter :D I will update as soon as possible.
