Chapter 10: TenTen's Decision!

They had nothing left to say to each other. If Lee had been there he would have broken the ice between them. Albeit, Lee was not there he was one of the first of their group to be stationed at a border for war.

TenTen for the first time in her life did not want to speak to Neji. Even when she had been mad at him and asked him to leave her alone she had secretly wanted him to stay and comfort her in her time of misery. He was her best friend, no one understood her like him.

TenTen looked up at the sky, she wondered why things became like this.

FLASHBACK

TenTen had been sparring with Neji; she found herself out of breath and almost out of chakra.

Neji smirked, "Give up TenTen, You only have one chakra point left and after I hit it you will lose anyway."

TenTen grabbed another scroll she managed a smile even with the blood spilling out of her mouth, "You are going to have knock me down or I'll keep getting back up." She hadn't felt this pushed by Neji since they first became a team. His strength had undoubtedly grown and with it her own, yet she was on the verge of passing out."

Neji squinted at her in disappointment, "TenTen give up already, I do not want to do this."

TenTen wiped her mouth, "No, bring it on Neji!"

Neji closed his eyes and shook his head, "Have it your way."

He quickly approached her and she did not try to fight back or move, she closed her eyes and waited for the blow; a blow that never came.

TenTen opened her eyes to see Neji in a position to strike her down but he only looked at her, "Come on Neji! Finish me off like you do Lee."

Neji dropped his stance and started to walk away. TenTen felt her body get hot and she yelled, "Neji! Why do you keep treating me like this? It's not because I'm a girl, because you use to! Do you think you are too good? Or worse, that I'm too weak!"

Neji stopped but kept his back turned, "Shut up."

TenTen balled up her fist and ran to attack him he turned and in one swift move pushed her up against a tree, "I can no longer find in my heart to hurt you."

TenTen blushed deeply, Neji released her and she watched as he walked away, "What does that mean?"

END OF FLASHBACK

She took a deep breath and looked at Neji out the corner of her eye, she put her head down and sighed, the worst part is that she couldn't fully hate him.

'I can't take this silence any longer.' TenTen thought to herself.

To her pleasure, she could see the village gates. She started to pick up her pace when she heard Neji's footsteps stop. She turned around to see that he was sweating and looked like he was in pain, "Neji what's wrong?"

He didn't answer, TenTen bit her lip in anger. She walked up to him and threw his arm around him before continuing to the village. His body became heavier and she could tell he was losing conscientiousness. Luckily the Genma was at the gates and seen them so he ran out to help TenTen.

"What happened?" He asked but she had no clue so she just shrugged. Genma put Neji on his back and ran to the hospital with TenTen following.

He was rushed to the emergency room and TenTen could not enter, she then turned to one of the nurses, "Please inform the Hyuga clan about his injuries." The nurse nodded and with that, TenTen, despite her feelings sat down and waited patiently for news.

She remembered falling in love quietly. She never could outwardly express how she felt because he was her teammate. She never wanted to be like his fan girls, and at first she wasn't. She knew Neji was strong but she liked a good underdog that was why she admire Lee. He worked harder for everything and despite his efforts would always end up with less than any other ninja. Neji was different, he was arrogant and was naturally gifted.

It wasn't until the day she saw the curse mark on Neji's forehead for the first time she realized he was an underdog too. Unlike like the attention she gave Lee, no matter how little or grand of a gesture she gave to Neji, it always seemed more than that of a friend.

She grew to love him, she offered to train with him, and she would let him try new techniques on her even if they would cause her pain. To show his appreciation he would treat her to lunch and that was when they find out more about each other.

She could still remember the day he told her he loved her. It came as a shock to her, she had never expected him to tell her how he felt. They had been training and he hit a vital point of her chakra which put her in the hospital. When he was alone with her he didn't say much but before he left he look her right in the eyes and said, "TenTen I love you."

Ever since that day he couldn't finish her off in training and he didn't talk to her unless the situation demanded it. It wasn't until TenTen told him that she loved him back did they finally realize they both wanted each other.

She loved being in his arms, she was always so cold. Like now…. Why was she so cold?

TenTen woke up out of her sleep, "Oh now I remember, I'm in the hospital."

She rubbed her eyes and walked up to the desk to see if there was any news and was surprised to find Ino sitting there.

Ino smiled at her, "Oh hey TenTen. I was worried about you, pregnant women shouldn't get too cold you know."

TenTen's reached past the desk and covered the blabbing girl's mouth, "I'm going to kill Sakura! How could she tell you?"

Ino moved TenTen's hand from over her mouth, "Sakura didn't tell me. I was curious when I seen your file. Sakura knew and didn't tell me? I'm going to kill her!"

TenTen was angry at the girl for peeping in private files however, she needed her to keep her secret, "Ino no one else knows. Promise to not tell anyone?"

"Of course TenTen but why? Don't you want the father to know?"

TenTen thought about it, "Ino, we've been friends for a long time and well, I decided not to have the baby. I need to set an appointment."

Ino's eyes were filled with sadness but she understood. She started to type and enter data for TenTen's appointment, "The only appointment available is for tomorrow morning. We always recommend you tell the father of the baby. Which I'm guessing is Neji?"

TenTen nodded her head sadly, "Tomorrow will be just find, I'm going home for the night thank you Ino."

The sun was rising and Neji's hospital room was filled with his fiancé, Hiashi, and the Hokage.

Neji woke up looking for TenTen, the last thing he remembered was when they were walking back to the village.

Ino walked into the room to change Neji's IV bag.

Neji noticed that everyone was watching him and Nozomi was on the verge of tears.

"Neji." She ran to his side and gave him a hug, "I'm glad to see you okay. I just wish you weren't hurt."

"Hurt?" Neji asked the Hokage.

Ino silently started to listen.

Tsunade looked at Hiashi before speaking, "We didn't remove all of the poison like we had hoped. And while you're find it has had certain effects on your body."

Neji looked at her deeply, "Effects like what exactly?"

Tsunade bit her lip that was trembling, "As of now you can no longer have children. The poison seems to be regenerating and attacking your cells as well as your sperm."

Neji gasped and Ino's eyes went wide, she quickly exited the room.

Neji sat with nothing to say, he had not thought about children. Nozomi gripped Neji's hand tighter, "My father was informed about your state and he think it is best for me to find another suitor."

Neji gasped in disbelief he knew the Hyuga clan would not be happy about the situation. To add to his stress he saw Hiashi leave out of the room. Nozomi kissed his cheek and left out the room as well.

Tsunade spoke once again, "It will be a while before you can leave, and I'm worried that the poison will come back again. Get some rest kid."

"Aki, I need to get into this room to speak with the patient before the procedure starts."

Aki looked at Ino, "Sorry Ino the procedure already started. No one can enter until it is finish.

"It is important Aki! Let me in or I'll be forced to move you!" Ino yelled at the top of her lungs catching the attention of a certain blonde headed woman.

"Ino I would tread lightly when threating the hospital staff. You are only filling in because we are short on staff right now!"

Ino trembled at the sound of Tsunade's voice. Tsunade then picked up the chart outside of the room and read them carefully, "This has nothing to do with you. Why on earth do you want to enter so badly?"

Ino blushed at the statement, "That person is making a huge mistake!"

Tsunade was now angry, "You have no right to say that! This person is saving their own life!"

Ino looked shocked at the Hokage's comment. Would TenTen be killed by the Hyuga clan for carrying Neji's child?

Ino bowed deeply, "Sorry Lady Hokage."

"You will spend the rest of the day restocking supplies. Go!"

"TenTen I love you." Neji's voice rung throughout her entire body. She just wanted to give up on everything. Would she ever be over him? Would she find herself laughing over how much she cried over him? If so, could she skip to that time now?

She walked the streets of Konoha alone, like a dead zombie. She felt worse than she had ever felt in her life. She just wanted to be alone forever.

"TenTen!" Ino yelled at the top of her lungs running up to TenTen at a fast pace.

TenTen looked at the girl tears feeling her eyes and sorrow in her heart, "J-Just stay away from me. I want to be alone."

Ino didn't listen instead she spoke the girl, "Neji can't have kids."

TenTen wiped her tears but more fell from her eyes replacing what she wiped on her hand, "What?" She asked in a crying tone.

Ino swallowed hard, "Neji can't have children, and Nozomi left him to marry someone who can."

TenTen placed a hand over her mouth and started crying harder. Ino hugged her friend tightly, "I promise I'm not telling you this to punish you. I know the baby is gone but Neji didn't know about it; he will never know. I'm only telling you this because I know he needs someone, and I think you're the only person who can cheer him up."

TenTen couldn't speak, she only cried harder and with each cry more sorrow filled her heart. Ino held her closely, "TenTen don't beat yourself up about deciding not to have your baby. You couldn't have known this was going to happen. You made the decision based off of what you already knew."

TenTen looked at Ino her face was red and her eyes were filled with many tears. Her faced was stained by the tears that had dried up, "I couldn't do. I couldn't hurt my baby. I already love it."

Ino looked at TenTen, a burden was lifted off her heart she was the one who made TenTen's appointment, "Then why are you crying TenTen?"

TenTen wiped more tears she spoke and her voiced cracked, "I don't want my baby to live a life with a curse mark on his head. This child, I love it with everything even the things I never thought to be possible. It deserves the world, with all the freedom it comes with."

Ino looked at TenTen, "You sound like Neji."

TenTen gasped at the statement only to think on it, "I guess Neji felt the same way about me."

Ino grabbed TenTen's hands, "TenTen you hold the power in your hands. You hold Neji's child which the Hyuga's have wanted for forever. Tell the Hyuga clan along with the demands you have with the child."

TenTen knew Ino was right, "But they can just make me give them baby."

Ino shook her head, "No they can't. You're not or weren't married to Neji when the baby was conceived. As long as you wait until after the baby is born to marry Neji, the baby will not be legally born to a certain clan. You hold the cards, tell them, but first tell him."

TenTen walked to Neji's room. How will I tell him? I know, I'll just come right out and say it. I'll let him tell the council and Hiashi.

Ino chased after TenTen, "Hey wait up would you. Geesh you'd think I'd be able to keep up with a pregnant woman." Ino finally caught up with TenTen. They stood outside of Neji's door. Ino grabbed TenTen, "You have this just say it before you see him then you won't be so nervous to tell him." TenTen nodded and took a deep breath and let it back out, "One more thing. The Hyuga clan might kill you for carrying Neji's baby."

TenTen's looked at Ino scared, "What?" But her friend open the door and pushed TenTen in the room.

Her eyes were close at the sudden movement and she kept them closed and yelled, "Neji, I'm pregnant with your child!"

TenTen didn't hear a response so she quickly opened her eyes and to her utter despair, Hiashi and the some of the council members stood there with the Hokage by Neji's side.

Neji looked shocked and couldn't stop starring at TenTen.
