Quest: East Basitin 2
"Got a few questions for you." I said unsure as to what I should ask first.
I walked out of the cell and faced my escorts.
"Everything seams 'tense' here. What's going on?" I asked
Given the nature of this place it's possible that martial law was in constant effect or that they were in some kind of conflict.
"A Templar is visiting the island. They're working with our king to defeat the west basitins." The guard said
The guards I met when I first arrived on the beach mentioned something about the west. So there is another group, tribe, or country to the west that the people here are at war with. Given that the guards said I was from the east like them upon sight there must be some visual way of identifying where a basitin originates. I figured I'd work some info out of them then I'd set out to explore.
"So this is common knowledge? What have the west basitins done about it?"
"Only common knowledge to us and the humans. Surprised you didn't know."
"Was on a boat out at sea." I replied sticking to my lie. "The Templar you mentioned what is the full story about that?"
"The Templar known as Master Architect Randal had made a pact with our king to give us access to magic. The price of this is that when our everlasting war with the west is put to an end we aid the humans in cleansing their land of the Keidrans." Said one of the guards.
"That's what they're putting out there but it looks more like a power struggle to me. Since the Grand Templar is gone the other 5 Masters are in a battle against one another in order to secure the title for themselves." Said the other.
"So how does the tower come into play?"
"That's what will give us access to magic. The king has one in the works. Once its done we'll make for the west. Any more questions?"
"I'll ask as I can think of them but for now lest go."
The two guards looked at one another before telling me to follow them. We left the jail and returned to the barren streets. The lack of life and color made the buildings all blend into one solid bland structure. The city appeared to resemble the Central Ayleid City in Cyridill. The city was round with high walls. There where spokes like that of a wheel leading to a central area that was in the shape of a box. A cliff over hung over the furthest edge of the city toward the sea. The buildings all box shaped with slanted roofs all facing in one direction looked as though they were built by one unimaginative individual. The only thing they differed in was in size and length.
But among all of this stood one structure unlike any of the others in the city stood on the cliff toward the sea. A castle that appeared as though all the life and visual appeal that the city should have had been drained by. It looked as though it was made purely of magic infused stone. As I looked at it more I noticed a tower being constructed behind the structure.
"I take it that is the king's castle." I said only to be met with a silence confirmation. "So these humans is it ok if I talk to some of them?"
"If the captain allows, and only if he's cleared to do so. Chain of command and all."
