CHAPTER TEN
"We interrupt this movie to inform viewers of the following news. Earlier this evening, Hollywood Arts student Beck Oliver was arrested and is soon to be charged with the rapes of 5, perhaps more, young women in and around the Hollywood area. Sources say his anger stems from a recent breakdown of a relationship with a brunette thus creating this overload of anger and resentment. Mr Oliver was arrested from one of his hideouts on the edge of town and declined the offer to a lawyer. The FBI took over the investigation a few weeks ago therefore Mr Oliver; if convicted, will never be a free man. We repeat, Beck Oliv-"
Jade grabs the remote off the floor and turns the TV off.
Jade and Tori were watching The Wolf of Wall Street on Sky movies when the local broadcast took over the channel. And, by the persistent buzzing of both girls cell phones, all their friends had seen the news also.
After a few minutes of silence, Jade spoke.
"It was him, wasn't it?" Tori nodded
"Were you going to tell me?"
"Yes. No. Damn, I don't know Jade. You would have blamed yourself, I-"
"DAMN RIGHT I'D BLAME MYSELF." Jade was outraged and angry, and Tori was scared by her girlfriends reaction. "HE RAPED BISEXUAL OR LESBIAN BRUNETTES, BECAUSE I TOLD HIM I WAS BI AND DIDN'T WANT TO BE WITH HIM… I WANTED YOU! DO YOU KNOW HOW THAT MAKES ME FEEL?" Jade didn't know she was shouting but she could never control her emotions and she was proving that.
"What do you want me to say?" Tori spoke, attempting to hide her fear behind her curiosity.
"I WANT YOU TO BE HONEST WITH ME!"
"About what Jade? How about how someone who I have trusted threatened my life; or how someone I called my friend molested me in an alley because he wasn't happy with his girlfriend leaving him… for me. Oh I know, how about I'm honest about the fact I could see his erection through his pants and all I could think was how disappointed you'd be in me because, consented or not, we'd both had sex with the same guy. A guy who claimed to love you." Tori took a breath and continued. "How about I be honest about the fact I can't sleep; I close my eyes and I'm back there, if someone touches me; no matter how innocent, I can't help but hope my reality is going to turn back into that nightmare. I have told you everything you have needed to know. You have been here for me and are trying to help me through it but I didn't want to tell you the WHOLE truth because I didn't want to see the look of helplessness and pity you are feeling right now."
"Oh so now I get the guilt trip? I figured if I were to help my girlfriend though a traumatic experience she'd be honest! But hey, I shouldn't presume things. So I'm gonna go, you have fun finding someone else to lie to and guilt trip." Jade was eerily calm which seemed to terrify Tori more than the screaming.
"You're going to leave?" Tori whispered as Jade walked towards the door, not bothering to hide the tears streaming down her face. Jade opened the door and stopped.
"Why should I stay?" Jade spoke loud enough for Tori to hear but not loud enough to hear the emotions behind the words.
"Because I love you…" Tori whispered again as Jade stepped over the threshold and into the darkness.
As the door clicked shut; Tori broke down. The one person she trusted, the one person who made her feel safe had walked out. Over something as petty as lack of information… Beck may not have raped Tori and may have been arrested for everything else, but he still won. He still somehow used Jade's insecurities against her relationship.
Tori, knowing her Dad would be home soon, decided to tidy the living room before grabbing a bottle of vodka off the liquor table and hiding in her room.
It didn't take long for her to drink the hard liquid; the burning sensation of the drink running down her throat overwhelmed the brunette but she didn't stop until the bottle was empty… without Jade, she knew she'd only sleep if she was knocked unconscious by something. Or someone.
She heard her dad come home; he wasn't happy. The front door slammed shut then almost immediately Tori heard feet stomping up the stairs. Her heart was racing a mile a minute. She knew something bad had happened at work and she knew she'd get the blame. She may never know what caused this beating but she doesn't care anymore, it couldn't hurt the popstar any more so than seeing her girlfriend walk out on her.
David kicked the door open and went straight to business. Fists clenched, he aimed and hit the stomach of Tori, grunting as he punched harder and harder until he felt she was punished enough.
He didn't say a word, he just laughed and left. Leaving the brunette in a foetal position on the floor, struggling to catch her breath. She crawled over to her bed and quickly succumb to sleep. Tori didn't think to ring her girlfriend? Did she still have a girlfriend?
That was a question for when she didn't have the energy to care.
School was weird for Jade; both students and teachers didn't know whether to feel sorry for the girl who dated the criminal or be ashamed that she didn't see anything wrong with him. Jade, in her natural fashion, told anyone with the balls to confront her to fuck themselves with a pair of scissors off her locker.
People whispered about the whereabouts of the preppy Latina. Why wasn't she in…again?
Jade knew something was wrong, but being stubborn, she couldn't bring herself to call the brunette and apologise.
"Jade West, I believe you have broken the one promise you ever made to me!" Trina hollered down the hall as she marched up to the scissor covered locker.
"Oh yeah. What's that Vega?" Jade asked, not cowering down to the girl in the 6 inch heels.
"You 'promised' you'd never hurt Tori. Now, I know you were there yesterday and something happened. She got a visit off our Father. She drank a bottle of vodka at some point during the evening, something no beating has ever caused her to do. So I ask this. AND I ASK THIS ONCE! What. Did. You. Do. To. My. Sister." Trina's tone was disproving and upset. But mostly just angry. The second Trina mentioned alcohol, Jade knew something was wrong. Tori only drank at parties, and even then they were few and far between.
"I walked out on her." Jade whispered.
"Why did you do that?" Trina pushed.
"Because I'm a coward. I found it easier to finish an argument and walk out than admit I was wrong and make up." Jade admitted.
"At least we agree on something." Trina huffed before trotting off to her friends.
Trina's friends were all renting an apartment 10 minutes away from the local community college and they asked Trina to have the final room. She jumped at the chance just so she didn't have to come home to see her baby sister in a puddle of blood, or passed out on her bed from a mixture of injuries and alcohol. Trina had hoped she could persuade Jade to let Tori have one of her spare rooms, just so she'd also be safe… but she's realised she can't trust Jade with her sisters heart, was she supposed to trust Jade with Tori's life?
A/N – so this only took about an hour to write so I am proud of myself for that. I apologise for the hiatus I ended up taking on this but I promise I have rededicated myself into finishing this story before college starts again on the 8th.
Thank you for continuing to read my stories; feel free to check out the one shots I've posted over the past few weeks and don't hesitate to review and give me suggestions.
Also, thank you for being patient.
I know this is a tense topic and I am trying to be sensitive, I think I am being sensitive but feel free to tell me if I am not and I will try harder.
Until next time… xx
