I don't own Vampire Knight or any of the characters in the series.

A/N: Chapter 10 is here! :D

I'm so glad everyone enjoyed the fluffiness of the last chapter! There is also some more fluffiness in this chapter! :D
I hope you don't mind these two fluffy chapters but they are essential to the plot so I can't get rid of them. Besides, fluff is good and nice and fluffy... :)

And I'm happy that you liked the bit about happiness, aoi. y. love. forward! I like that bit too and had the idea to put it in after listening to the song 'Happy' before writing. Hooray for happiness! \(^-^)/

Aoi. y. love. forward, Evan the Beelzenef, Bijuublue, irmina, AokyorRenka: Thank you so much for your reviews, I always read them and they make me so happy! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! :D

I was also going to be uploading the next chapter of TSA (The Silver Assassin) tonight, but unfortunately I won't be able to. I've had a headache for most of the day and am feeling extremely tired. I need to rest or I will collapse, so I'll have to delay that update to tomorrow (15th July)! :(
I hope that just this one chapter is enough for tonight...

I really hope that you enjoy this chapter! :)

Please read, review, fave and follow! But, most importantly, please enjoy! :D

Chapter 10: Revelation

The sun begun slowly rising, signalling that morning had arrived. Its rays penetrated the thin cream-coloured curtains which covered the large window of the apartment. Zero had been facing the window as he fell asleep.

"Nnn…" Zero groaned.

Although he may have been a vampire, a creature that would naturally wake at the falling of the sun, he had long since adapted his habits so that he could live a life as similar to that of a human's as possible. His main reason for altering his body clock was Ichiru, who was still a human. While they were living together it was just so much more convenient for them both to be awake at the same time.

He usually used an alarm clock to wake because his room did not have a window in the direction of the rising sun. But, this morning there was no alarm clock. As his eyes recognised that the room had been illuminated, he awoke. It was also the fact that his alarm clock didn't go off that first alerted him to the fact that he wasn't in his room.

Zero blinked sleepily a few times as he woke. He relaxed when he saw the window of his lounge room.

Ah…I must have fallen asleep on the couch.

There had been many occasions where Zero had fallen asleep on the couch, usually when he'd been working on a painting for too long and then was too tired to walk to his bedroom after finishing, deciding to use the couch instead. Ichiru would usually scold him when he did so, saying that it would damage his posture or something. However, Zero sensed that this wasn't a normal day. Something was different. Most importantly, Zero couldn't work out was why the couch felt different. It was very comfortable, but it was warm…and not blanket warm.

*Shuffle*

Still half asleep, Zero moved his body into a different position. And then he saw why his 'couch' felt so different.

Kaname…

Kaname!

Zero nearly levitated onto his feet in shock. Waking up to see Kaname's face that close first thing in the morning was not what he was expecting. It took him a few moments after standing to sort through his memories of the previous night and work out what had happened.

Yes, I was resting on his lap… I must have fallen asleep at some point. But, why didn't he wake me?

Zero looked inquisitively at Kaname who had also fallen asleep at some point during the night. His face seemed quite relaxed and looked as flawless as it always did, though very occasionally his brow furrowed as if he were concentrating or unimpressed with something.

He must be dreaming…how sweet.

For some reason, watching Kaname's chest softly rise and fall made Zero also feel inexplicably relaxed and warm inside.

Then Zero realised that he had actually been observing Kaname for a few minutes and was shocked that he had been so captivated. He immediately scolded himself, though the sight was quite difficult to forget, and then went to find something to do in order to take his mind off of Kaname's sleeping form draped across the couch.

To take my mind off the sight of Kaname looking as harmless as a sleeping kitten…

However, he was a little concerned about leaving Kaname there on the couch.

Maybe I should get him a blanket?

Zero, being the good host that he was, then fetched a blanket from Kaname's bedroom and draped it over the pureblood's form.

Now he looks like a peacefully sleeping kitten wrapped in a blanket…

Zero shook his head to rid his mind of these thoughts before going into the shower to clean himself up ready for the day.

*Shaaaaa*

But, in the silence of the shower within the warm cascading water, he began thinking.

Yes, he had come to see Kaname in a new light recently. He had seen a Kaname who could not use his powers and who wasn't the king of vampires, he had seen Kaname in such a weakened state that the pureblood had to depend on him, and he had also seen that Kaname had no aptitude for performing simple household chores.

Because Kaname had been dependant on him since when he had arrived, Zero had also come to feel concerned about Kaname. He found himself concerned about whether Kaname was healing or not, if Kaname enjoyed his cooking, about Kaname's happiness and even whether Kaname would get cold on the couch without a blanket to warm him.

He found that during the last few days he had become extremely close with Kaname, friends even. But, did friends let other friends sleep on their lap as Kaname had done last night? And, before that, when Kaname had touched his cheek, causing him to blush, is that kind of close contact also normal for friends? Zero had never had a wide abundance of friends, but somehow he didn't think so. He also found himself blushing again as he remembered Kaname's touch on his cheek.

Zero shook his head once again. He found it hard to believe that he was having such feelings for a pure blooded vampire.

I mean, I'm a hunter! Well… an ex-hunter at least! And… he's a King for crying out loud! Even if I did have feelings for him like…

*gulp*

Like… love...

We're just too different aren't we?

Zero couldn't help but think of Kaname. He was handsome, probably the most physically attractive person Zero had ever met. But Zero didn't care only for looks, he had seen Kaname torn to shreds and nearly dead upon arrival, he had seen Kaname shaken and shattered as he explained his traumatic experience and he even had seen Kaname cry as he told him his fears about returning to the fated fighting and bloodshed that came with his position as King. He had seen the fragile inside of Kaname Kuran that was usually hidden by a strong, nearly impenetrable, mask of confidence.

Zero found that he truly cared about Kaname. He even found himself unable to deny that he liked Kaname now, a lot. But, was it love?

He didn't know.

Maybe it's a crush…

Zero found himself thinking this because he honestly was not sure if it was love, having never experienced this feeling before. He'd been a loner for most of his life and had never really considered putting effort into getting a girlfriend or whatever else most men did. When it came to the territory of love and relationships Zero kind of had a go-with-the-flow attitude. He had never expected to fall in love or to even have a crush on someone. It was one of those things that he thought he would only deal with when, and if, the situation arose. Now it possibly had and he had no idea what to do.

I've never really had a crush on anyone before…

Zero felt his cheeks become warm with an obvious blush.

Maybe this is my hormones catching up with me or something…

But, why is my first crush Kaname Kuran of all people? And what should I do about these feelings I have? I mean, surely I can't just waltz in and tell Kaname Kuran, pureblood and King of vampires that I have a crush on him, he'd probably just laugh at me or question my sanity, and I can't say that I'd blame him...

Turning the shower off Zero stepped out. Opposite the shower there was a mirror that one couldn't avoid looking into as one exited the shower. Upon looking at himself, Zero saw that his cheeks were indeed dyed an embarrassingly rosy red colour. He quickly dried himself and then wrapped the towel around his waist.

Still feeling quite confused he took a few deep breaths to calm himself before exiting the bathroom.

As he passed through the lounge area he saw that Kaname was still sleeping soundly. Zero was extremely glad for this, after his sudden revelation that he liked the man and also because of the fact that he was only wearing a towel, since he had forgotten to bring a change of clothes with him due to habit.

He entered his bedroom and shut the door behind him before searching his cupboards for something to wear. After dressing he walked back into the main area to put away his painting somewhere safe, as he didn't yesterday before falling asleep.

It was just after putting the painting away that he heard someone knocking on the door.

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

The knocking was also accompanied by the distinctly strong smell of tobacco, letting Zero know exactly who was there before opening the door so that he was ready to greet them:

"Good morning, Yagari-sensei."
