Hollow's pov

I looked at the gray eyed girl in front of me, she looked around cautiously to make sure no one saw me.

"You know the rules right?" she asked me.

"Yah, Yah I know Tono, I won't do anything bad." I said.

"Why do I feel like you're going to get us killed," Karin said with a sigh.

"Have a little faith Tono," I said with mock hurt. She sighed, her shoulders sagging she started walking to her families work place at Shiba Fireworks.

"Just be careful Kyo," she said, to an outsider it sounded bored and indifferent, but I was born with her and I heard the concern in her voice. I would scoff at her weakness, if I wasn't so touched by her worrying. I recoiled back suddenly when I realized something.

"You called me Kyo," I said in surprise.

"Huh?" she said before tilting her head up in thought, "I guess I did."

"Mind telling me why Tono?"

"Well I thought you needed a name, everyone has a name, it must be lonely not to have at least that price of identification," she said, her words struck a chord, but outside I scoffed. "And Kyo means hollow, void, and strong all three describe you, so I thought it was appropriate." she turned and started walking away ignoring my stunned expression, "You better get going Kyo, you only get a free day three times a year."

I speed off with that note. I hated Karin, she confused me, I had been born the same time she was, I was apart of her soul but she still didn't make sense. Giving me a name, you gotta be kidding me, I had no name, I was just a servant to her, why did she have to treat me like an equal. It would be easier to hate her if she did. Still...

I found myself in one of the higher level districts.

There were a lot of vendors out but most of them stayed clear of me. They were frightened of my white skin, black sclera, and gold iris'. They had never seen someone like me before, a hollow who appeared to be a human soul slightly. I scoffed, these people were so pathetic, I could kill them in an instant if I wanted to.

"Why is your skin white Onee-chan?" I felt a tug on my pant leg and looked to see a little girl who appeared to be only 7 years old, she had curly sandy blond hair and brown eyes. 'Why wasn't she scared of me?' I thought angrily.

"Don't touch me!" I yelled at the little girl, I was dangerous, shouldn't she know that! There was a reason I looked different, it was to ward people away, to isolate myself.

The girl was startled and fell to the ground with tears in her eyes.

"Aiko!" a group of three older boys shouted surrounding the little girl, they glared at me. "Stay away from Aiko, freak!"

Whatever, I walked away. I strolled around the district, this was boring. The rules Karin had set made I no fun. I could harm any human soul, which meant no fights. I had to obey Tono after all.

I walked through the forest, although it was boring I couldn't deny the peace this gave me. I went to a tree and started to carve my new name into it.

Kyo

I liked the name, not that I'd ever admit it to Karin. It made me feel more...

I shot out of my stupor once I felt a ton of hollow reiatsu hit me. This was going to be fun, I had the free range to destroy hollows according to Tono's rules. Plus I got extra energy from absorbing the left over reiatsu from killing the hollows. Unlike most of my kind, who had to devour each other in order to get stronger, once I killed a hollow using Ingetsu, I was able to absorb the Reiryoku through the blade.

I arrived at the scene to see the four kids from earlier in the midst of all this. The boys were backed up and screaming the little girls name. The little girl was in the claws of a hollow.

I don't know what took over me but suddenly I had sonidoed and had cut the hollow in half before catching the girl. I set her down next to the boys and turned to face the hollows. I cut them one by one. Going into berserker mode. My malicious face had a growing smirk on it as blood from the hollows stained my blade and fragments of my clothes. I even laughed a bit.

Soon there was nothing left, the Reiryoku from the hollows left me feeling energized and I grinned in satisfaction. I felt a tug on my pant leg.

"Arigato for saving me Onee-chan," the little girl said a happy smile on her face. She still wasn't afraid of me? After seeing me annihilate all those hollows.

"Thanks for saving us," the boys said looking down at the ground.

I scoffed, "I didn't do that to save you, I was bored an itching for some action," I said nonchalantly.

"Your lying," the little girl said sweetly, "Onee-chan didn't have to kill the monster when it was going to hurt me, and then catch me. She didn't have to keep all the monsters when it got near us!"

I rested my sword against my shoulder, ignoring the little girls words "You all should get out of here, it's not..."

"Yare Yare, here me and Jushiro wanted to come to this district to get a drink, I'd never thought I'd come upon a hollow attacking some kids.

Now that I think about it, it did appear like I was going to strike the children. My sword was raised to my shoulder, I could easily swing it and the kids would be no more.

"Looks like we'll have to stop her Jushiro," the brown haired, unshaved man said to his white haired companion. He was wearing a flower kimono and a kasa hat on his head, he had two swords and his reiatsu was greater than mine. The white haired one was in shinigami garb and wearing a white haori. His reiatsu was greater than mine.

I tensed and the kimono wearing man shunpoed towards me, I barely blocked his strike and tried to run away. I wasn't allowed to fight with shinigami.

"You're not going anywhere hollow!" he chased me more with me barely dodging or blocking his swings. I was tiring and multiple cuts and lacerations were appearing all over me.

I panted out of breath once he decided to give me a break.

"You're not bad hollow, I've never seen a hollow like you. Your in a humanoid form, and seem to be quite talented, and have large amounts of reiatsu. I wonder why you're not in our priority and dangerous list?" he said.

I glared, still out of breath I muttered, "Whatever, I don't need to tell you anything."

"Well this is goodbye then hollow," he said. I prepared for another strike, but he moved out of the way. I saw his white haired companion who started mumbling something.

"Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle!" he murmured before shouting. "Hado number 63! Raikōhō!" A ball of yellow light built in his hand before shooting at me like lightning.

I jumped out of the way before noticing where the attack was heading, towards the children. Both men's eyes widened in horror. I sonidoed and focused all my Reiyoku to my outer skin. There was a numb, stinging sensation followed by a burning one. Pain shot through my body, I fell to my knees with Ingetsu holding me up.

"Onee-chan?" Aiko asked worriedly.

"I told you to get out of here," I growled out through the pain, trying to sound angry. The boys nodded before picking up the little girl and leaving the clearing.

"It seems I was mistaken hollow," the kimono wearing man said solemnly regret filled his voice.

"My name is Kyo! And forget about it," I said coldly. I looked at the now orange sky, my eyes faced the setting sun and they softened. "It seems like my time is up," I whispered. The men watched in shock as I slowly dissolved first my feet all the way up to my eye till I lost sight of them.

Third person

The men heard her whisper.

"It seems like my time is up."

She started to dissolve, this humanoid hollow, her eyes resting on the two before being completely swept away by the wind.

"Kyo, hmm," one man put his hand to his kasa hat, "that's one strange hollow. Makes me wonder if I really did drink too much sake. Neh, Jushiro?"

The white haired man nodded, and looked at the scene around him. He thought it was strange that the hollow didn't seem to want to fight them, but had continued allow Shunsui to attack. All hollows ate souls, and the one they were attacking had blood on its sword and was going to attack children. But when the hollow had saved the kids, they were thoroughly surprised. Was that even a hollow? Both men thought.

Kyo's pov

"You look like crap," a bored voice said next to me, "Didn't I tell you to be careful."

"Hm," I replied, she sighed.

"Are you ready to go back?" she asked, and I nodded. I'm glad, I really felt alive today, more than I ever have, and joyful. Not the fleeting happiness that comes and goes, but pure joy, a contentedness.
