Lilith called the Salvatore home and left a message.

I will arrive at your home at 8:00 A.M. sharp I will wait to be invited into your home out of courtesy. Have owner of title present.

8:00 a.m. the following morning, from the bay window of the house both father and son watched as Lilith walked out of the shadows and stood at the front door waiting.

Aiden murmured, "I've got to learn how to do that"

From inside the house Aiden asked "What is she waiting for"

In a calm even tone Lilith said, "For you to invite me in boy… if you are the owner of the home then I have business with you"

"I don't have to wait for invitation Aiden Salvatore, I only do so out of courtesy" Lilith stated in a matter of fact tone of voice.

"Invite her in" Damon said curtly.

Opening the door Aiden said, "Come in"

Lilith strode through the door and sat at the kitchen table, opening her coat she pulled out an old fashioned quill and ink set along with a short knife.

Looking at Damon Lilith stated offhandedly, "Katherine got an urgent call from Aurora… something about my ability to enter your home without invitation"

Looking at Aiden Lilith stated offhandedly."For me to teach you shadow walking I would need to turn you Aiden"

Taking the knife in hand she ran the blade over her finger letting the blood fill the inkwell half way then said "Now it's your turn Aiden Salvatore"

Fearfully Aiden looked at Lilith who said with an angry undertone, "In order for this to work it requires the owners blood and mine"

Watching from the corner Damon said reassuringly, "It's alright son… I think I know what she has in mind"

Lilith looked at Aiden telling him, "This might hurt"

Taking Aiden's hand Lilith sliced open one of his fingers and let the blood comingle with hers in the inkwell then she started to write in blood.

I Lilith of Mesopotamia give Aiden Salvatore my blood oath that will not enter this house uninvited unless life hangs in the balance.

Dipping her thumb in the blood she pressed it to the parchment she turned to Aiden and said, "Now it's your turn" Lilith stated

"Aiden Salvatore keep that safe, I do not give my blood oath in writing to just anyone" Lilith told him as she turned to leave.

With a raised eyebrow Aiden said, "Couldn't she go back on her word?"

"No son she can't… to a vampire blood it sacred" Damon told him.

If you were not family you would be dead for that comment, Lilith thought.

"It's like Zeus making an oath on the River Styx… it can't be taken back ever" Lilith told the young Salvatore.

"And Aiden, that contract only lasts as long as you live" Lilith explained, "When you die, or if you turn the contract is null and void"

"If I try to violate that contract Aiden Salvatore you have the right to ask for my life as compensation" Lilith stated. "According to vampire law I would have no choice but submit"

Damon asked, "Does Katherine know about that last part?"

"Yes… and she's not happy about it" Lilith stated sharply.

"Aiden" Lilith stated matter of factly, "Your father doesn't know about my abilty because Katherine didn't until I told her about it"

"What's that?" Damon asked annoyed at the implications.

Looking at Aiden, Lilith stated in a silvery tone, "If a vampire gains entrance to your home under false pretense… all you need do if rescind your invitation and they must leave immediately!"

Reading Aiden's face Lilith stated, "The reason that barrier rule doesn't apply to me is simple… I never died to become vampire, I was born one, the barrier is there to keep the dead from entering the home"

Looking at Damon Salvatore, Lilith said sharply, "It's come to my attention that my daughter has developed feelings for your son"

Pausing the elder vampire took the scene in "We have the blood a marriage contract would be no trouble" Lilith said sarcastically.

"Now wait a minute" said Elena Gilbert in a curt tone "My son is hardly out of his teens…"

"Relax Elena" Lilith said, "I know times have changed I only seek your permission on my daughter's behalf"

"To date my son!" Damon said.

"Yes" Lilith commented.

Drinking down the blood in the inkwell Lilith recognized the origin of the Salvatore bloodline immediately thinking, Silas bloodline… I only hope he stays asleep.
