'Keep smiling, and one day life will get tired of upsetting you.'

She tried on a wedding dress and he sat watching her. The man she would marry sat next to him.

"What about this one?"

"Beautiful as usual." The man next to him lazily drawled. She blushed a pretty shade and looked at him.

"Obito?"

He lifted a pad of paper with the words he'd flashed for the last six gowns she'd tried on.

'Not good enough.'

She sighed, and went to find another one to try on.

The man next to him sighed. "What was the point of me even coming?"

What's the point of you even existing? He thought snarkily. Rin had invited her fiancé because they both had a day off work and she wanted him here. He should be grateful.

He growled and a weak rumbling sound came out of his mouth. He was only capable of feeble notes, but it was enough to convey his ire.

"So when are you going to tell her you love her?"

His head snapped towards his 'rival', who was lazily watching his reaction.

He narrowed his eyes at him and silently asked him to elaborate.

"It's fairly obvious. It's mutual if you're wondering."

His eyebrows knitted in consternation.

"No, she doesn't know. But" the man looked away from him. "if you don't tell her, I will."

His mouth hung open. He scribbled furiously and lifted it to the callous man's face.

'Why're you getting married then, if you don't even care!'

"Because you love her more. I'm just marrying her because she deserves someone who understands her and won't take advantage of her. She doesn't know."

'You don't love her?'

"Like a best friend. Nothing more. But I could've learned to. Until you showed up, I would've. I've delayed the invites. Make the most out of today."

With that, the Bastard Of The Century waved lazily and left with his hands in his pockets, off to God knows where.

"Where's Kakashi?" Rin asked worriedly as she stepped out of the changing room a moment later. Obito hobbled to her, took her hand in hers and mouthed 'You look perfect.'

She smiled radiantly and bought the dress without any further hassle.

He held her hand, and she looked at it confusedly but didn't pull away.

It was a start. It was all he ever really needed.

He kissed her lightly on the nose and she brushed his cheeks gently, searching his eyes for something.

"Obito?"

He mouthed silently. 'I love you.'

She gasped, maybe because he could hear the words, or maybe because of the words themselves. Even she didn't know.
