Chapter 10: I Give You This Explanation
I groaned as the person continued to shake me. They stopped for a moment and I rolled over onto my side. I felt sick again so I didn't want to get up. The person started shaking me again. It finally registered in my head that I was awake. The person stopped shaking me just in time for me to shoot up into a sitting position. I turned my head towards the person that had woken me up. I glared at the person. I didn't expect to see Kyoya standing there.
"Kyoya-sempai, what are you doing in my room?"
"This isn't your room," he answered simply. I looked around and remembered that we had gone to the beach. I held my head in confusion. Then my eyes shot open as I remembered the events of the night before.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to fall asleep!" He laughed at me freaking out. Then I felt my eyes grow wide as I thought of something. "Where did you sleep?" I asked hesitantly. I hoped it wasn't my room which was a mess from me throwing everything out of the suitcase.
"I slept in the chair." He pointed at it.
"I'm sorry! You should have woken me up! You didn't have to let me sleep!" The door opened to reveal everyone else. They looked in the room with wide eyes.
"What happened between you 2 last night?" roared Tamaki. I gulped. I didn't want to explain everything, but I thought that I might just have to.
"Well I arrived in my room last night to find Kyon sleeping on the bed. She wouldn't wake up so I sat in the chair and fell asleep," Kyoya explained. I decided to go along with it if I had to.
"Why were you in his bed?" Tamaki asked in a dangerous voice. I think I found the one thing that scared me more than deep water, I thought as I stared at his blue eyes flaring with anger.
"I got sick after dinner. I was talking to everyone that was left in the room and suddenly I felt sick. I ran off as fast as I could to find a bathroom. I ran into the closest room and used that bathroom. When I was done I forgot that I had run into a random room and I fell asleep on the bed. I guess Kyoya-sempai came in soon after I had fallen asleep." Tamaki looked at me as if he knew I was lying about some of it.
"I was wondering why we didn't see you after you got sick," Haruhi commented. That one comment seemed to calm Tamaki. I then walked up to him and smiled at him, hoping that he forgot that I had to apologize. He left the room without saying anything to me. I frowned slightly. I sighed and found him down the hall. I ran up to him.
"Tamaki-sempai, I'm sorry."
"What thing are you sorry for?"
"I'm sorry for everything that I did yesterday. I shouldn't have fought those guys and I shouldn't have yelled at you about it or even gotten angry. You were just trying to be a good friend."
"What happened to your hand?"
"Nothing happened to it."
"Then why is it bandaged up?"
"I punched a rock and my hand started to bleed." He looked like he was worried. At the same time, he looked as if he thought it was funny. "It's not funny Tamaki-sempai."
"I know that it isn't. But I'm sure that it taught you a very important lesson about fighting."
"How would that teach me a lesson about fighting? All I learned was that I shouldn't punch a rock."
"And punching is a part of fighting."
"Ok. I learned that I shouldn't fight unless I can win without getting hurt that badly." He gave me an angry look. "That's all you're getting."
"I guess I can deal with that."
"You're going to have to." And with that I walked off. All my problems were solved. Almost all of them anyways. I walked into the dining room and we ate our breakfast in silence. It was strange that no one talked. After we ate, we all got changed. I changed in a hurry and knocked on Kyoya's door. I wore clothes over my swimsuit.
"You may enter," he called out to me. I opened his door and slipped inside. I walked up next to his bed where he was sitting.
"Kyoya, we need to talk about a few things. But before we do that could you tie the halter top of this thing?" He looked at me. I reached in my shirt and pulled out the strings. "I couldn't tie it." He gave me a smile and stood up. He stood behind me and tied it tight.
"What do we need to talk about?"
"Are we really doing what our fathers wanted us to do when we were young?" He sat there and stared t me for a while.
"I guess we are. There are 2 small differences. The first being that we didn't slowly find ourselves in this position through a friendship that had been blooming for years. And the second being that we are keeping the relationship secret and unofficial."
"Oh. Well I was wondering if you knew why most of the guys were trying to scare me yesterday."
"The twins had this idea that we should figure out what you were afraid of but they didn't get the smart idea that I have."
"What's your idea?"
"Well I'll let it be known in a while."
"What's going on with you and me?"
"What do you mean, Kyon?"
"Well last night we truly made it known that we remember each other from our childhood and now we're acting as if nothing happened."
"That was the deal we had made. We had said that we would keep this secret and unofficial."
"I'm not sure about this. Why do you want to keep this secret?"
"I don't want Tamaki to begin asking me if he can help me with you in our relationship. I also don't want to deal with him yelling about how you and I shouldn't be together."
"Why are you so worried about Tamaki and no one else?"
"I'm worried about you too."
"That's not what I meant Kyoya. I meant why are you so worried about his thoughts on this situation yet no one else's?"
"He's my best friend."
"You have a best friend? And it's Tamaki?"
"Believe it or not yes." I smiled and started laughing about it. "What about that is so funny?"
"I can see it now. You get married one day and Tamaki is the best man. Then when you kiss the bride he starts shouting about how proud he is that you found someone!" I laughed harder and laid back on the bed. He looked at me laughing. He then did some thing that surprised me. We were back in the position we were last night. He was hovering above me and staring in to my eyes. I stopped laughing for a moment but I couldn't keep it that way. I started laughing hysterically again. He smirked and leaned down. His face was just inches from mine and I couldn't stop laughing. When I thought about him kissing me, the image of Tamaki shouting about how happy he was that Kyoya found someone popped in my mind. And then so did the confused look on the guests of the wedding that Tamaki would be shouting in and I couldn't stop the laughing. Eventually Kyoya gave up on making me stop and sat back on the edge of the bed.
"I don't understand why you're taking so much joy and humor in that."
"It's hilarious! Tamaki will be shouting his joy for you at your wedding. And when he has to give a speech, it will be filled with joy for you finally finding someone." I stopped laughing and sat up with a serious expression on my face. "And Haruhi will be sitting in the audience shaking her head at her future husband's antics. And then she'll do the same thing for me at my wedding." My face took on a look of horror and Kyoya started laughing. "Hey it's not funny!"
"It's funnier than your idea for Tamaki at my wedding."
"No it's not. This is horror. That was hilarious."
"Everyone is probably wondering about us."
"Then I guess we should leave at different times so they don't realize it. I'll go first. And I'm very curious as to how you plan on figuring out what I'm afraid of Kyoya." I ran out of his room and down the hall to everyone as they waited by the door. "Sorry I took so long. Where's Kyoya-sempai?"
"I think he's coming right now," Haruhi said pointing down the hall. Kyoya came walking up and he saw that everyone was at the door.
"Should we go then?" he asked. Everyone nodded. We walked outside and sat in the limo for the ride to the beach. Suddenly a thought occurred to me.
"Did someone take down my guitar case yesterday? I didn't see it in my room."
"I guess they missed that," Kyoya said as he turned to look at me. "Kyon I have a question for you."
"What is it?"
"What are you afraid of?"
"I'm afraid of deep water. Although the expression on Tamaki-sempai's face this morning scared me beyond reason. I thought he was going to kill me with his gaze. So I guess my biggest fear would be Tamaki-sempai when he acts the way he did this morning. Then my second biggest fear would be deep water."
"It looks like I won," Kyoya said simply.
"Wait what do you mean by that?"
"We were having a contest to see who could find your weakness first," said the twins.
"Yeah. We were all in on it, except for Haruhi," Tamaki said.
"You what?" I shouted in anger. I glared at them with about half of the anger I felt. They cringed in the corner of the limo. "I can't believe you!" I turned on Kyoya, Takashi, and Mitskuni. "How could you guys go along with it?" I shouted.
"We were having a contest and the winner would receive these pictures," Kyoya explained as he held up some pictures of me in middle school. I took the pictures and ripped them up.
"Now no one gets them!" I slouched in my seat, crossed my arms, and glared at the guys. Haruhi was the only one I wasn't mad at. I decided that once at the beach, I would find the guitar case and sit somewhere by myself or with Haruhi. The guys could be so infuriating sometimes.
