Serena sat down in one of the chairs as one of sales girls handed her a glass of water as Henry walked over to her telling her "I just came in from outside there is no sign of him"
Serena sat there as she covered her face with her hands and cried "how could I let this happen"
Henry put a hand to her shoulder telling her "it's not your fault Serena don't blame yourself"
She looked at him with the tears running down her eyes as she asked "then who should I blame. He is my kid brother. It is my job to keep him safe and now he's missing in a big city and he could be hurt or…" She shook her head not wanting to think about it as she cried "what if I never see him again"
Henry shook his head telling her "don't think like that we will find him" as he looked to one of the sales girls saying "maybe it's time to contact the police"
Serena looked up to him shocked as she shook her head demanding "no you can't do that"
Henry and the sales girl both turned to look at her surprised as Henry asked her "why not Serena the police can help us find Sam"
Serena shook her head as she stood up from the seat telling him "no, no police". She started walking forward as she pushed her hand through her hair looking around she turned to Henry telling him "I think we know he is not here any longer. I'm going out to look for him myself"
Henry ran over to her as he told her "Serena it is a big city and he is just a small boy. He could be anywhere how will you find him"
Serena shook her head telling him "I don't know, but I am his sister. I will somehow" as she ran towards the door and Henry quickly ran after her
She went out onto the sidewalk and just as Henry had told her it was completely crowded. The sidewalks were so overcrowded with people everywhere going in different directions.
She could barely walk as she looked around calling out "Sam" with so many people passing by all around her bumping into her as they yelled out loudly "stand to the side"
She looked around desperately looking for him trying to decide what direction to head in as she saw the large glass building not too far off in the distance and knew where to go and started pushing her way through the crowd.
She walked in through the large glass door and went over to the elevator realizing she was not sure what floor to go to when a security guard walked up to her looking her clothing over asking "can I help you miss"
Serena looked at him as she asked "what floor is Mr. Carlisle's office"
The security guard looked to her suspiciously as he asked "do you have an appointment"
Serena shook her head telling him "no, but I need to see him right away its important"
The guard stood there with his arms crossed telling her "I am afraid that is not possible. No one gets up to Mr. Carlisle office without an appointment"
Serena stood there panicking as she looked to him begging "please just tell him Serena is here and needs to speak to him. It's very important"
The security guard did not budge as he told her "I am sorry but that won't be possible come back when you have an appointment"
Serena was on the verge of tears as she looked to him and begged "please I need his help my brother is missing"
The security guard stood there feeling bad for the girl, but had a job to do as he shook his head telling her "I'm sorry to hear that, but it doesn't change anything. I cannot let you up. I would suggest you contact the local precinct"
Serena stood there frustrated not sure wat to do now when Henry walked in at that moment as he looked to the guard standing with Serena as he told him "its fine Bruce. She is with me let her up"
Bruce looked over to Henry as he nodded his head and stepped away telling her "you want floor 24 miss. Mr. Carlisle office will be at the end of the hall"
Serena looked over to Henry relieved as she told him "thank you" and hit the button and waited for the elevator door to open as she stepped in the elevator and took the long ride up. It seemed to take forever as she watched the numbers slowly climb higher until finally it got up to 24 and the doors opened.
She stepped out of the elevator as she walked forward and saw rows and rows of desks around the busy bustle of the office. She looked around the guard told her that his office was at the end of a hallway but which one as she looked around the massive floor unsure which way to go when a woman walked over to her asking "can I help you miss?"
Serena looked over to the woman telling her "yes please I need to see Mr. Carlisle right away"
The woman looked to her as she asked "do you have an appointment?"
Serena put her head back frustrated as she said aloud "not this again. I am a friend of his. It's very important that I see him now. Please"
The woman nodded her head looking at this girl uncertain asking "may I have your name"
Serena looked to her feeling a little better that this woman may actually help her as she told her "Serena"
The woman nodded her head as she told her "alright Serena please wait here. Can I offer you something to drink while you wait?"
Serena shook her head no telling her "please I just need to see Darien"
The woman nodded her head telling her "please sit I will be back shortly"
Serena refused to sit, but she did wait where she was asked as she watched the woman walk away hoping she would get to see Darien soon
The woman went and knocked on the door to an office that had the name plate Carlisle written across it in gold letters as she heard him say enter.
She slowly opened the door as she saw Mr. Carlisle sitting at his desk with two other men in business suits sitting in front as she looked to him saying "I am very sorry to interrupt your meeting Mr. Carlisle, but a young woman just came looking for you she seems rather upset she said it's very important"
Darien looked to her curious asking "did she say who she is?"
The woman nodded her head telling him "she said her name is Serena"
Darien sat there surprised as he asked "Serena?"
The woman nodded her head yes as he told her "please show her to the conference room Gloria and tell her I will be with her shortly"
Gloria nodded her head telling him "yes right away sir" as she walked out closing the door behind her.
Serena sat alone in the large room she was growing more and more frustrated with every minute that passed Sam was still missing still out there on his own as she looked out the large window at the city below. She was ready to get up and leave to go find him. She couldn't waste another minute here waiting as she stood up from her chair when she saw the door open and Darien walked in asking "Serena what you are doing here?"
She looked over to him unable to hold back her fears as she ran over crying "Darien you have to help me please. I don't know who else to turn too"
Darien walked over to her seeing Gloria was right she was very upset as he put a hand to her shoulder asking "what is it? What's happened?"
She looked to him with tears running down her cheeks as she cried between breaths "its Sam he's missing"
Darien was surprised as he took a step back looking at her asking "What? How? When?"
Serena looked to him as she tried to explain "we were in a store shopping and I guess he wandered off. We tried looking for him in the store, but he was nowhere in sight. I have no idea where he could be. It's such a big city and he's only a small boy. What if something happened to him?"
Darien wrapped his arms around her holding her close as he rubbed her back telling her "it'll be alright Serena we'll find him I promise"
She nodded her head hearing the confidence in his voice as she heard him ask "have the police been contacted yet?"
She stepped away from him as she shook her head telling him "no, you can't contact the police"
Darien looked to her surprised as he explained "Serena if he is out there somewhere having more eyes out looking for him could help. They may find him faster than we could. Why would you not want their help?"
Serena looked to him as she shook her head panicking she told him "no, no police. If they find out that he's lost. They will contact child services and once they hear I lost him and we are currently homeless they will take him away from me and I can't lose him Darien. I can't he is all I have left"
Darien walked over to her as he put his hands on both of her shoulders telling her "that's not true"
She looked up at him unsure as he told her "you have me too. Now come on lets go find your brother" as she nodded her head saying "okay" as she felt him take her hand in his strong grasp she felt his strength and determination for both of them.
