Chapter 10: A Night to Remember

Part 2

Sara sat down on the ground near the sea. She looked at beautiful starry night sky.

Sara: "The sky is really beautiful tonight."

Then she thought the stories from Dio and Daniel. Listening to their stories made her feel sad but very thoughtful of what they have been through, similar to her story. While looking at the night sky, she remembered the time when she was with her mother, staring at the night sky together. They were sitting in the field of flowers, waiting for the shooting star to come.

Sara: "Mom, look! A shooting star!"

They both saw the shooting star.

Mother: "Sara, did you know? When you make a wish from the shooting star, your wish will come true."

Sara: "Really?"

Mother: "Yes, hurry and make a wish before it's too late."

Sara: "Okay!"

Sara closed her eyes, clasped her hands and made a wish. Once she finished, she opened her eyes.

Sara: "I made my wish!"

Mother: "What did you wish for?"

Sara: "My wish is to go to space, so I can reach the stars. Of course, with Mom, Dad and Satsuma."

Mother: "Space, huh? That's a lovely wish. Do you love the stars?"

Sara: "Yes! I love them!"

Sara gave out a cheerful smile. Seeing her smile made her mother smile as well.

Mother: "I see. Then one day, we can all go to space together. Let's hope your wish will come true."

Sara nodded. After the shooting star had passed, her mother asked her a question.

Mother: "What do you think of the stars?"

Sara thought about it for a moment and replied:

Sara: "Well, I read in a book that stars are made out of gas that contains hydrogen and helium. They shine itself because its gravity causes its gases to fuse together. To be honest, I thought that they were fragments of people's dreams."

Mother: "Fragments of people' dreams?"

Sara: "Yeah. I know it's not real, but it came out of my mind. Whenever I see the stars, I always thought that they represented the dreams that people have forgotten or lost in faith in their dreams. There were so many of them that they were turn into fragments. So, each star is fragments of people's dreams. If people don't remember or lost in faith in their dreams, the stars will one day let us regain their dreams back. Even if this person's dreams never came true, maybe someone else will make the other person's dreams come true. It's like an infinite loop process, since there are so many of them. Well, that was just my imagination of what I think of the stars. It's weird, isn't it?"

Her mother listened to her thoughts of the stars and nodded in agreement.

Mother: "I think that was one creative idea of the stars. It's not weird at all."

Sara: "Really?"

Mother: "Yes, I think I like your idea of the stars. If my dream wasn't able to come true, would you do it?"

Sara: "That's… Come to think of it, what is your wish? Did you make a wish to the shooting star?"

Mother: "Yes, my wish…"

She hugged her at the back while looking at the stars.

Mother: "...is to be one with the stars."

As Sara remembered that day, her tear came out from her left eye. She realised it and wipes it off.

Without her parents, they will never go to space together. Then she shook her head and thought to herself:

Sara: "I have to stay positive. Even if they're not here anymore, they may wanted me and Satsuma to still go to space."

She reaches out her right hand towards the starry sky.

Sara: "Mom, if you really become one with the stars, I want to see you again."

Meanwhile, Dio and Daniel silently stared at each other. They didn't talk for a moment. Suddenly, Daniel decided to speak up:

Daniel: "Dio, what do you think about Sara?"

Dio: "Huh?"

Daniel: "You're her partner, right? You must have been together for awhile now."

Dio: "Why should I answer to you?"

Daniel: "I'm just curious. Earlier, you smiled at her. So I was wondering… are you in love with her?"

Dio widen up his eyes. Daniel noticed it through him.

Daniel: "So you really are-"

Dio: "No! It's not what you think. She's just my partner."

Daniel: "You don't like her?"

Dio: "That's not what I meant. Well… she's not bad… But it's not that I like her or anything."

Daniel chuckled a little.

Daniel: "I see. So you don't mind that I would take her away from you?"

Dio: "What?"

Daniel: "She's an interesting person. She's kind and caring. But also brave and thoughtful. I think I fell in love with her. I want to take her with me. Though, I don't know who she has feelings for. But it's better for her to decide when that time comes. If I take her away from you, would you be jealous?"

Dio: "Who said I would feel like that? If she likes you, then it's her own decision."

Daniel: "You're not honest, are you? Sometimes, it's okay to be honest with your feelings. If you can't, it will only make you distant from someone you care about. What if Sara has feelings for you?"

Dio looked at the campfire, giving a dark but sad expression.

Dio: "...There's no way she would like me. She deserves someone better than me.

Daniel: "Dio…"

Dio: "But if you think you could take her away with you, I will stop you."

Daniel: "Because she's your partner, right? I was just kidding about taking her away. I just wanted to see how you react."

Dio: "Why you-"

Sara: "I'm back."

Sara interrupted their conversation, and they both looked at her.

Sara: "Sorry, did I interrupt your conversation?"

Dio: "No, you came in just the right time. I was getting annoyed by that idiot."

Daniel: "Haha, you really can't be honest."

Sara: "What happened between these two?"

Sara had no idea what happened what the two of them had talk about. She sat down on the ground in the same spot she first sat.

Daniel: "Are you feeling better, Sara?"

Sara: "Yeah, I'm fine. Just needed some fresh air."

There was an awkward silence between the three of them. Daniel decided to break that silence.

Daniel: "Well, since we're gonna be here all night, we should get some rest until they find us. I bet everyone are probably worried about us."

Sara: "You're right. Everyone must be worried sick. I hope they will be able to find us."

Dio: "I'm sure they will find us. The signal is on in my valiancer so there's no need to worry."

As Daniel yawned, he turned around so he didn't want to look at them and lay down on the ground to sleep.

Daniel: "I'm gonna go to sleep. Good night."

Sara: "Good night."

Dio didn't respond to him as he still hates him. As Daniel closed his eyes, he thought to himself:

Daniel: "I wish I could take her with me…"

With that thought, he fell asleep. Sara is getting sleepy as well. She spoke quietly:

Sara: "It felt like a long day with everything that's happened today. Dio, I apologized that you would be stuck here with me. I seem to cause you trouble again…"

Dio: "You don't need to apologize. There's nothing you could do. Beside, if I'm not here, you would be here alone with that sleeping idiot. He reminded me of the other idiot."

Sara: "Hehe, you mean Aoba, isn't it? Fromm told me about you two."

Dio: "That guy… he really can't stop talking about it."

Sara: "When Fromm explained it to me, it seems like you and Aoba are close, when he was your partner back then."

Dio: "That's not true. We hardly get along. I was his partner because we didn't have a choice back then. We always argue and disagree on what's right or wrong."

Sara: "It sounds like you two are close in some way…"

Dio: "Anyway, let's stop talking about him. You should get some rest. It may take a while for them to find us."

Sara: "You're right. Everyone must be worried about us. Hopefully, we will get rescue soon."

Sara laid back against the wall.

Sara: "Good night, Dio."

Dio: "Good night."

As Sara fell asleep, Dio looked at the night sky. Then he slowly fall asleep.

Early morning in the next day, Sara woke up when there's a sound beeping coming from Bradyon NEXT. She got up and run straight towards inside the cockpit. She tried to check what's going on. She hears someone talking through the intercom but difficult to hear with the static noises.

?: "..ello...he..llo...can..you hear me?"

She can now clearly hear a familiar voice.

Sara: "That voice… Satsuma! It's me, Sara!"

Satsuma: "Nee-san?! Thank goodness you're okay. Is Dio with you?"

Sara: "Yes, he's here with me. He's fine."

Satsuma: "Alright! I've pinpointed your location coordinates. Me and Fromm will come to rescue you. Please wait for a little longer."

Sara: "Understood! We'll be waiting."

Dio ran towards the Bradyon NEXT to see what's going on.

Dio: "Hey, what's going on?"

Sara: "They found us! We're going to be rescue."

Dio: "I see."

Daniel: "I guess that means you're lucky."

Daniel walked towards them to check out.

Sara: "Hang on… there's another communication signal coming through. I think it may be for you, Daniel."

Daniel: "Really?"

Sara: "It's possible that it's your comrades."

Daniel looked at Dio, hoping he would let him use the Bradyon NEXT. Dio sighed and nodded. Daniel smiled and went in the cockpit to check the signal.

?: "om in… co..me in… is anyone there?"

Daniel recognised that voice.

Daniel: "Jake! This is Daniel speaking!"

Jake: "Captain! Hold on, I will pinpoint your coordinates. Are you okay?"

Daniel: "Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry for making you worry."

Jake: "At least you're alive and well. Okay, I have found your specified coordinates. Me and Kisetsu will rescue you. We'll be coming soon."

Daniel: "Right, I'll be waiting."

He disconnected the intercom. Sara and Daniel both got out of the cockpit.

Daniel: "Well, I guess we have to part ways here."

Sara: "Yeah…"

Sara looked down as she knows that they will meet each other again in the battlefield, as her enemy. Daniel looked at her expression, knew what she's was thinking and look at the sky.

Daniel: "When we meet again, we'll be enemies. But…"

He looked back at the two of them.

Daniel: "Hopefully, we won't be enemies for long."

He smiled at them, thinking that one day they will become allies. He waved at them and went back to his valiancer. Sara waved back at him. Once he left, she noticed two valiancers coming towards them.

Sara: "Dio, look!"

Looking closely at the valiancers, it turns out to be Satsuma and Fromm piloting their valiancers. Sara waved at them, telling them that they're here. They both noticed and gave a sign of relief.

Satsuma: "Nee-san, Dio. I glad that they're okay."

Fromm: "Well, the two of them are looking well."

They rescued them and took those two and their valiancers back to the Cygnus. As for Daniel, he noticed two of his comrades coming to rescue him.

Kisetsu: "Captain! Please be more careful next time."

Jake: "I'll say, you really had us worried. Without you, it won't be the same."

Daniel: "Haha, sorry about that. Anyway, let's get back to our base. There's something I need to discuss with all of you."

They have rescued Daniel and they all went back to their base.
