This is the final episode before the epilogue.
Episode 0.9: Hopes for restoration
Dragon Island: Outside: 11 September 2008: 13h12
Abel is 10 years today and he is now 2,60m. tall and he is following Shao and walking around.
"Shao...Why do you want to walk everywhere?" Asks Abel. "I do not know why we are just walking around...You never did this before."
"Come on now!" Shouts Shao. He moves his tail in small exasperation. "It's better that we walk together right?"
"Yeah...You still have some fat to lose." Replies Abel.
"...Thanks for remembering me that." Says Shao. Shao looks at the sky.
"What is it?" Asks Abel.
"I think it is time to return to your home." Says Shao.
"Hum?" Asks Abel not understanding anything about it.
Shao runs fast and Abel looks at him running away.
"What?!" Shouts Abel after one more second of immobility.
Abel runs after his friend Shao who reaches the house first. He enters in it and he closes the door. Abel reaches the door and he really wonders what is going on. First, his uncle wants him to get out of the house and have some time with his friend. Second, Shao makes him wonder around for nothing, like he wants to buy time. Now, he runs inside the house without him and seems to have ignored him.
He decides to open the door and have a peek inside. He watches carefully and he sees nothing for a while. He walks inside.
"Shao...Uncle?" Asks Abel.
Suddenly, 4 dragons appear in front of him and shout:
"SURPRISE!"
Abel jumps surprise and completely not expecting this. He looks at them and it finally click into his mind. Today...It is his birthday. He is now 10 years old. Those who were there was Shao, Garret, Cesar and Odin.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" They shout.
Abel looks at them with a big smile and they are glad Abel is very happy about it and they all celebrate. They talk a lot since most of them are adult except Shao and Abel. Abel has only Shao as friend but that is enough for him.
It was a good moment.
"So Abel...How's it going since last time?" Asks Odin. He cannot see Abel often but he does when he can.
"Fine...Thanks to Shao, those bullies have learn to stay at their place." Says Abel.
"Shao, you have my thanks for helping this little dragon." Says Odin with a smile.
"You don't have to thank me. He is my friend." Replies Shao.
"So Abel...Have you try to breathe fire yet?" Asks Cesar.
"Euh...No." Says Abel.
"Take your time; we do not want the island to get on fire again." Says Cesar.
"Again?" Asks Abel.
"Who's the dragon who put the island on fire?" Asks Shao.
A sound of whistle and the 2 young dragons look at the one who whistle. Odin was looking away and he was the one who whistle. It was clear the golden dragon is the guilty one. It was a very big surprise that no dragon where expecting.
"I...I put the island in fire...It was an accident...It was when I was 10 years old." Says Odin. "I breathe too strongly and I put a part of the island in fire by accident..."
"We weren't born at that time." Says Garret.
"That's the good news...Only the Elder remembers it." Says Odin with his face turning red.
"Now...Pull the candle and make a wish." Says Garret putting the cake in front of Abel.
Abel breathes and he thinks for a while...He has only one wish he says again and again over the time and he blows out the candles and the flame disappears. Abel looks at it for a while and nothing happens. It is a human tradition and he knows it. In school, he has learnt that there is a way to have your wish comes true. He knows what to do now. He overhears Odin talking about the secret artifact to Garret once and he hears that it can do anything with the right object.
For the rest of the day, Abel celebrates his birthday in the joy with his friend and the 3 adults and he opens his presents. He didn't receive anything very impressive but he likes all gifts he can get and he thanks every dragon who brought something to him. After the day end, every dragon returns to their home and the night come.
Dragon Record room: 23h12
Abel enters in the record room silently and used his dark scales at his average. He knows it isn't perfect but he has an idea. He decides to enter in the section of mythological. He searches around for the book in question about the magical object. He needs to find the right book he has found before. He only has a small glimpse at it but he knows it has all the information he needs about something special. He moves to the section of the mythological object and he searches around it. It is in the forbidden section of the record room to find it.
Last time he was there, he was with Shao when he shows him the forbidden section to find something to prank the 3 blue dragons. It ends up badly. Able has seen the book about the mythical objects and he was about to take it when the record guardian of the room spots them and flies after them for a while. Shao and Abel manage to escape them and they manage to escape him. Odin and Garret warn them to not return to the forbidden section and Odin insists in a specific location where Abel found the book.
Abel starts searching for the book he needs but it takes a lot of time. He was moving closer to the book he needs when he hears a sound. Abel panics and he hides under a table. He then shouts at himself that it is a stupid idea to hide there. He notices that the record guardian has pass and he can continue his search. He starts looking again and after a while, he finally finds the book he wanted.
Secret artifacts of the world.
The book contains all legendary artifacts which has more power than any artifacts of the world. He takes it with him and he flies back home. When he was in his chamber, he hides the book under his bed and he decides to sleep for now. All he has to do is having an opportunity to read the book.
12 September: 11h23
"Abel, can you be by yourself while I'll be absent?" Asks Garret.
The opportunity presents itself way sooner.
"Alright Uncle! I'll be a gentle dragon." Says Abel.
"I know Abel. You are a perfect dragon." Says Garret laughing gently. "Bye!"
"Bye Uncle!" Says Abel.
Garret opens the door and closes it when he is outside, Abel takes out the book from under his bed and he opens it. He starts reading the useless thing.
"Hum...The fountain of Youth...It can give to the one who drink this water youth for a day...Not interesting...The property of the dragon blood to human...I don't care...And freaky...The Aztec skull...It is...bla bla bla...It has the power to make a wish come true...It has the form...Wait...Wish come true..." Abel looks at it closer.
The skulls are extremely powerful mythological object capable of destroying anything if the owner of the 13 skulls can also manipulate time and grant whatever wish those who hold them want. The skulls are also indestructible and can only be destroyed if they are inserted within the Pantheon Gargoyles located in New York. When the first skull will resurface...The other skulls with slowly revealed themselves at the surface of the world. The one who has all the skulls and have in his hands the skull of realisation...The owner can make his wish come true.
Abel looks at it and he immediately copied the pages about the Aztec skull and puts it in a secret spot. He will bring back the book when he can with the same discretion later.
"With this...I'll...I'll be able to bring mom back alive." Says Abel. "And finding where my father is...And...And be the 3 of us together again." He says daydreaming about the moment it will come true. "I'll have to do it...I'll find those 13 skulls no matter what."
He thinks about the moment they'll be together again...He doesn't remember them well but he remembers of the happiness and love of that time. He smiles at the thought.
Abel opens his mouth and he starts singing the sound his mother sings him so much time.
"La la la la..." Abel continues singing for a while. Every time he sings it...He always feels a little better.
After this, he continues reading about it to find more information about it. He then starts to prepare his plan when he finds out where it will all start. He uses his geographic skills to point out where he has to do if he wants to start his plan.
"It's there...New York City...Also known has the mythological capital." Says Abel.
He knows where to go and he knows when. He has to go there and he has to find a way to do it without too much suspicion.
13 March 2009: 14h00
Dragon school
Every dragon student of the school are in the auditorium and are currently watching Odin being present in the school with the director of the school, being a dragon of course.
"Welcome all students and I really appreciate that...50% of you have decided to come." Says the director when he sees that half of the chairs are empty. He then gives a smile.
Abel and Shao were present for the special and not obligatory meeting. Shao wasn't that much interested compare to Abel but when he learns that half would come, he decides to come...Also because Abel is going there and his sister is really annoying him.
"Today we will take to you about the carrier that every dragons must choose for the moment they become adult dragon. There is multiple choices offer to you and I hope this meeting will give you some tips about the perspective of your futures." Says the director. "Odin has accepted to be present in giving all the choices you can have in your future."
"We're lucky...He tries to do this the most time he can but Odin can only be here around once per 3 years...I hear that it is less pretty with Ryu giving the choice." Says Abel.
Odin walks closer and he clears his throat.
"Dear student dragons...I am here to explain to you all the possibility of every dragon can have for their future when they become an adult. As you know, we are not lazy creatures like some legends made by humans. We are the first sentient being of this planet and our role is has a guardian...But not all dragons need to take that role and you can do the job you want. I will now give you some examples of jobs a dragon has...I will not read the list...I'll let you search for the one who is interesting. I'll tell you more about the 3 jobs that needs more explanation than the others. First, the guardian job. It is the duty of dragons that can be similar to soldiers. The guardian job is to protect the other dragons and often strikes by using brute strength. It is not something we use very often because we are pacify beings. Even if you think it is an easy one...You are wrong. This is one of the job where there is the highest risk you are getting killed."
Odin continues talking about the specific element of the guardian mission and the student dragons listen to it quietly.
"For the second job, it is the watcher duty. It is also a high risk duty where young dragons will exit the dragon island and go into a big city and watch and maintain peace with all mythological creatures of the town." At those words, Abel listens even more carefully and he is starting to plot something. "You will have to be sure that the secret of the mythological being stays a secret at all cost. You are also in the front line to deal with the huntsclan and possibly have to stop a war in the egg. It is a job which puts you into a lot of stress but it is also a job where you can discover other places than only the dragon island. It is not the most popular job but I'm sure some of you will consider it." Says Odin.
You do not know how much I think I'll take this mission. Thinks Abel.
The rest of the day continues while Abel is preparing his plan to obtain the wish he desires.
Dragon Island: Garret home: 17 September 2008: 10h17
Abel has taken the paper he needs to participate in the watcher duty. He has read all of the conditions it needs for it. He needs to have a dragon master who was a watcher before; a veteran, he needs to have a dragonknight partner to support and protect him in case of danger and battle, he needs to maintain secrecy, and he needs to obey every law of the island.
The paper was complete for a while but he has to prepare his lie for his motives...Which was easy since a big part of it is true. He walks in the living room where his uncle is currently reading a book. Abel walks closer and he sits beside him.
"Abel...What is it?" Asks Garret with a smile.
Abel shows the paper of watcher duty. He reads it.
"Abel...Are you sure? You are too young to make such request!" Protests Garret.
"No I'm not. There are no age restrictions." Counters Abel who has read the law for the watchers.
"You know what I mean! You are only 10 years...You are still a child and it is best you do not leave me." Says Garret. "I'll be worried sick about you."
"Uncle...I want to become a watcher." Says Abel firmly while looking in the eyes of his uncle. "It is the path I want to become has a dragon and I will not change idea."
Garret looks at his son eyes and he sighs.
"Listen Abel...I know you can be a very obstinate dragon when you want to be one but...But...Why do you want to become a Watcher? You never give any sighs of wanting to become one and also...You choose a very specific location...I mean...You just ask to be a watcher in New York." Says Garret with suspicion.
"Well..." Abel looks to the left and he says nothing for a while. "I want to be there."
"That is very much...vague." Says Garret.
"This town is a big one and I want to go there...I know there is not that much members of the huntsclan compare to the rest of the world." Says Abel.
"...It is...true." Says Garret. "Do you have anything else in your mind? I want to know if you have another reason to desire doing there." He looks strait in the eyes of Abel.
Abel has prepared himself for that moment and how to lie well because he wants to be in New York.
"I have no more reason. I want you to be proud of me." Says Abel.
...
...
"Alright...I'll give my signature and you'll be authorise to become a watcher...But it will not be immediate of course. The council will have to decide if they accept your candidature and also if there is a potential dragonknight in the city." Warns Garret.
"I know." Says Abel. He hopes his plan A will succeed. He gives himself a 6 years deadline before moving to plan B.
Dragon Council: 14h00
Garret was in front of the council and every member of the council are present and also Odin. They look at the paper Abel has given and they do not know what to do. Most of the members of the council aren't sure if it is a good idea to let a dark dragon go outside the world. The members talk about it and only councillor Kulde and Agni thinks openly it will be a good experience. If they let him work in an honest job, maybe the dragons will see the dark dragons more positively and they will come back living on Dragon Island once again. Odin listens at it and he has 2 different emotions: He wants Abel to go outside and discover the world with the same argument than Kulde and Agni...On the other side; he doesn't want Abel to leave him. He doesn't know why but he wants Abel to stay on the Island where it is safe and no one can hurt him. He thinks it is because of his daughter sacrifice. He looks at Abel and the council has equal result. Only him can decide of Abel fate.
6 Mai 2012: 16h12
It's been more than 3 years that Odin hesitates and hasn't chosen anything yet. Odin isn't sure about what to do and he doesn't have anything in his mind to help him getting a decision. After a while, he closes his eyes and he decides to let Abel desire come true.
"I have made my decision." Says Odin. "Able will receive the permission to become a watcher and we will warn the dragonknight of New York that I've accepted Abel request."
The council decides to respect the decision of Odin and they put the usual condition that permits Abel to stay there. After a while, everything was ready and Abel will be sending in New York the 30 Junes.
Garret home: 19h12
Abel is currently hugging his uncle with all his strength. He has learnt of the good news and he smiles happily. His plan has started to go into motion. Garret looks at Abel and he is now sad. He really loves Abel and he will already go somewhere else. He hugs Abel and just lived the moment with him.

"Master...I have some news." Says Chang in the crystal.
"-What is it Chang?-" Asks the DD.
"The dark dragon on the island has been sending to become a watcher." Says Chang.
"-A dark dragon...You haven't warm me about it before.-" Says the DD. "How is it?"
"He is a teenage dragon who has very dark scales." Says Chang before the DD looks at her in the crystal.
"-Young. Chang! I want him to join us...You need to find a way to bring him back to the island.-" Says the DD. "-I want him to join our side.-"
"As you wish master." Says Chang.
