Chapter Ten
There was a knock on the door but Kori didn't move to get up from the bed. She had gone back to bed after Richard took her back to her room. "Kori," came Richards voice. She groaned slightly as she then got up and headed over to the door. She opened the door and looked at him. "Yes?"
"Come downstairs for a few moments there's someone here to draw some blood."
"What would they need to draw my blood for?" she asked him with a slightly raised eyebrow.
"To enter it into a database," he said to her, "Come on it won't be that long."
Kori then followed him out. She was still hesitant to be in the Wayne home. Not to mention she hadn't seen Mr. Wayne since the dinner she had attended with Richard. He might be the one who gave her a place to stay and gotten her a lawyer but she was still nervous and unsure. She followed Richard down the stairs and into a living room.
"Please have a seat Kori," the man said and gestured for her to take a seat.
Kori looked at him and then took a seat in the chair. He went about setting things up and then had her give him her arm. He cleaned on spot of her arm before he took out a needle and placed it into her arm. He drew some blood and then covered the cap.
"Okay then I'll enter this and we should have an answer in a week or so," he stated and then left. Kori then looked up at Richard.
"Miss Kori have you had anything to eat yet?" Alfred's voice came.
"No," she said lightly to Alfred as she still looked at Richard.
"Well then I shall go fetch something for you two to eat," he stated leaving to head into the kitchen. Kori stayed sat in the seat she had been told to sit in. Richard came and sat in the seat across from Kori.
"So do you even know what you want to do with your life?" he asked her after a few more minutes of silence.
Kori looked at him and shook her head slightly as she looked down in front of her, "No, I wasn't given a chance in my life to make decisions. Everything I did because he told me to," she stated. Saying that she felt like she had been a prisoner to her own life. She stayed looking at the table.
"Kori," Richard said her name and waited for her to look up when she did he continued, "You have a chose now once this is all over." He gave her a smile and she gave him a light one. Alfred then come out and placed a plate in front of each of them.
"Thank you Alfred," they both said at the same time.
He nodded his head and then left them alone.
~Two weeks later~
It had been a long two weeks, Kori had been stuck in the mansion for that long. Sometimes she was alone, she hadn't seen Bruce that entire time. At one point Alfred made a comment saying he was away on business still. The news had soon picked up the story about Kori and the break-in at the Wayne manor. Kori watched it when she was by herself and got to listen to what some people said about her. Richard before she even went to it told her to stay off of the computer. She was guessing she was told that because of what some people were saying about her. She was in the library laying on the couch as she stared into the fireplace that was set up. There was a knock on the door and Kori managed to beat Alfred to the door. At this point she was so bored it was a little competition for her to beat him to the door.
"Kori," the male voice said to her.
Kori nodded her head slightly as she heard Alfred approach her.
"How may Miss Kori help you today?" Alfred asked.
With Richard gone and Bruce not home Alfred had taken it upon himself to make sure Kori was okay.
"May we come in?" the man asked. Kori could see a woman standing slightly behind the man.
Kori looked back at Alfred, "Course, let's go into the library," Alfred said and gestured for Kori to head in that direction. Kori left and Alfred led the two other people to the library. Kori took a seat in a chair as the two took a seat on the couch, Alfred remained staying in the middle of the two places.
"What is it I can do for you?" Kori asked after a few more minutes.
"It's not as much as what you can do for us but the information we have for you," the woman stated and pulled out an envelope. Alfred came over took it from the woman and then handed it to Kori. Kori looked at it for a few moments before she opened it up to read what the letter had to say.
'Kori Wilson DNA is a match to Koriand'r Andres.'
There was more to the letter but that was what Kori focused on.
