I think this might be the longest chapter yet. It was four pages on Word. I had to write something for school, so I decide to write fanfiction! Yay! Sorry for the wait. I really stink at updating.
Katniss POV
As I sit here waiting for the interviews to start, realization hits me. It's my last night Gale and Madge will both be here. Tomorrow they will be gone for the awful arena and I will never see one of them again. I begin to feel tears build up in my eyes and grab Peeta's, who is sitting right next to me, hand for support. I squeeze it tightly, never wanting to let go. He brushes the hair away from my ear and whispers into it. "Everything will be alright. They'll both do fine. Don't worry Katniss." He lightly kisses my forehead and continues holding my hand. "Peeta, Madge won't be coming home." I admit quietly, not wanting anyone around us to hear my concern. "Don't think like that! I know she'll fight to get back." Peeta sighs. I shake my head. "I can't have her come home, I can't let her win and have Gale die. I've been thinking hard about this since this afternoon Peeta. He helped save my family all these years and I owe it to him and his family." I blink fast to keep the tears out of my eyes. I can't do this.
As Peeta's about to respond, the lights flash on the stage signifying the interviews are about to start. I grip Peeta's hand tighter with fear for Gale and Madge, even though I know they're interviews won't be until the very end. "Ladies and gentlemen! Please welcome your host, Caesar Flickerman!" A voice rings through the crowd.
The crowd goes wild as Ceaser walks onto the stage from the wing. This year he is wearing a powder blue wig and a very Capitol-ish looking suit. "Welcome, welcome, welcome! We have an exciting night for you tonight, so lets get started! Our first tribute from Disrtict One, Glimmer!" The crowd goes wild as I sit calmly waiting for Madge and Gale. I know I should be paying attention to these other interviews to help Gale and Madge out but I just can't bring myself to do it. All that is flowing through my mind is that I will never see Madge after tonight. The thought that my only friend through school will be gone makes me sick. I can't let the fear show though. I can't give Snow that satisfaction knowing that he is breaking me.
When Madge is introduced by Ceaser I am silent. I am to nervous for her to cheer. Her life depends on this interview. Although how much I feel it is right for Gale to come home, I need Madge to too. She's practically a sister to me. Madge walks on the stage confidently and I remember how brave she is. Last year when I was in her postion, like the other non-Career tributes I could barely walk right I was so terrified to be in front of the world. But she walks right up to Ceaser and gives him a smile and sits down. "Madge Undersee! How have you been enjoying the Capitol?" She gives off her gentle smile. "Oh Ceaser, its amazing! Everythings just so lovely! I wish I could stay longer! I'd love to try my hair out in pink!" She laughs. The crowd goes crazy at that. "I bet that would look extraordinary on you!" Caesar responds. "Your name sounds very familiar, Madge Undersee. Is it true that you are the Mayor of District Twelve's daughter?" Ceaser ask her. "Yes I am." Madge nods. "How has that been for you?" Ceaser questions her. "It's been a great experence! It has given me many opportunities I wouldn't have had otherwise."
"On to a question that I'm sure has been on everyone's mind, do you think you deserve the score you got?" Madge sighs," I know whatever they gave me is probably accurate, but I'd love everyone to see what I am really capable of. I think you'd be surprise!" She smiles. "I look forward to seeing you more." Ceaser stands up and gestures for Madge to too. "Madge Undersee, District Twelve!" She smiles and waves again and walks off stage. If she doesn't get any sponsers after the interviews I will be shocked. She blew the crowd away.
"Now our last interview of the night, please welcome Gale Hawthorne from District Twelve!" The crowd goes crazy. From what Effie has informed me, he is quite a favorite in the Capitol. I knew he would be. He walks on to the center of the stage, smiles cockily, nods, then sits down. "Welcome Gale! How have you been?" Gale pauses for a second. "Well, other than the fact that tomorrow I'm being sent to The Hunger Games, I'm great." His hatred for the Capitol comes out in what he says. Ceaser moves on,"How have you liked your mentors?" I knew this question would come up in one of Gale or Madge's interviews. "I've just recently officially met Peeta, but just this past week we've become almost brothers. And Katniss, well I'm sure she's going to hit me for saying this, but she's the most annoying crazy person you will ever meet," Gale lets out a sigh, "but she's amazing and she's more than a sister to me. She's helped me through so much and I will be forever grateful."
"I will definitely agree with you on that with her being amazing!" As the crowd goes wild, the camera turns to me, so I give a short smile. It returns to the stage. "Now Gale, what are your plans for the Games?" He gives one of his signature smiles to the crowd. "I think you'll be a bit surprised. I am definitely prepared though. And I will be back here soon." Gale finishes. "One more question before time is up, will you be able to, if it comes down to it, kill Madge, your District Partner?" Gales face goes pale. Ceaser shouldn't be asking him this. He is not supposed to ask about other tributes! Gale takes a breath. "I really couldn't Ceaser. I've known her for a while, just as Katniss' friend, but this week I've really got to know her. She's more than a friend."
So yeah. I always have terrible endings. I'm not good at writing them for chapters. I have to go do more homework now... reviews would be nice!
Oh! Has anyone seen the clip for the Divergent trailer yet?! I am going crazy about that! AND the fact that Ed Sheeran is going to be on the Catching Fire soundtrack!
