„Oh come on. You guys are just jealous. She´s a great nanny! Ellie loves her.", Barney defends Robin´s nanny-qualities

„As you do?", Marshall asks.

„Excuse me?"

„Don´t act stupid. You nail her, right?"

„Whaaat? I don´t!"

„Pleaseee, it is obvious. She´s a beautiful girl, you just hired her, so you can bang her."

„How long do you guys know me by now, huh? I would have bragged about it, if I had really slept with her. And why the hell should I let her move in? So I can never bring any other girls home with me? I´m not that stupid."

„This somehow makes sense", Ted states and continues, „So that means she´s free?"

Lily kicks him under the table. „Ouuuch", Ted complains.

„Just give her a chance. Get to know her, watch her with Ellie, she´s great."

The friends agree and about five minutes later both Ellie and Robin join them. Barney prepares some coffee, meanwhile Ted, Marshall and even Lily do as promised and try to get to know Robin.

„So, where do you come from, Robin?", Marshall asks.

„Canada, actually. But I moved to New York and worked as a news anchor."

„News anchor? Sounds cool. Why are you babysitting now?", Lily answers.

Robin eyes her suspiciously. After their encounter she´s not sure, whether Lily actually tries to be nice or wants to critisise her once again. Lily sounds honestly interested though, so she decides to give it a try and answer her question in a nice way.

„I got fired to be honest. Coincidentally, my last job was to make an interview with a certain Barney Stinson. I was mad because I lost my job and so I wasn´t exactly nice to him. However, he made me tell him my story and then he offered me the job. I wasn´t sure at first, but then I met Ellie and I decided to give it a try. It´s better than no job."

„Heeeey", Ellie complains, „I´m better than any job in the world, not only better than no job."

„I didn´t mean it that way, Ellie. I love it here, believe me. I didn´t know back then that you were a cool kid. I thought you are one of those annoying, lame and exhausting kids. If I had known you before, I would have had no doubts at all."

Ellie smiles, she seems to like the answer very much and Ted, Marshall and Lily somehow warm up to the idea of Robin being a nanny. She may not be a typical nanny, but she seems to be right for Ellie.

„And what are you guys doing for a living?", Robin asks the other ones.

All of them answer, Lily is talking about her applications and after a while the four oft hem seem to get along pretty well. Ellie gets bored and decides to watch some TV while the adults are talking. When Barney comes back, Robin notices how long he´d been gone and asks, „Where have you been? How long does it take you to make some coffee?", she laughs.

„Hahaha, the coffee is ready for ages now. It may be cold already. I got a call. I have a dinner tonight and Ellie will stay overnight at one of her friends´ place. You have got the run for the place tonight.", Barney winks.

„Ohhh, hot date tonight, huh?", Lily asks.

„Maybe", Barney grins.

Ted and Marshall high-five him and Lily shakes her head. Only Robin is pretty quiet and has a kind of hurt look on her face which only Lily seems to recognize. After a while of light-hearted talking, the gang decides to leave now. All oft hem have some stuff to do and can´t stay any longer. Before they go Lily helps Robin to put away the coffee mugs. As soon as they start to put the mugs into the dishwasher, Lily asks,

„You like him, don´t you?"

Robin inhales deeply, „Whaaaat?"

„Barney. You like him, don´t you?"

„He´s a nice guy and a great boss."

„That´s not what I meant."

Robin is silent, so Lily speaks again,

„You know what I mean. You have a crush on him!"

„I don´t!", Robin answers a little too quickly.

„I saw your face before."

„What face?"

„You look hurt when Barney talked about his date. You were clearly disappointed."

„I wasn´t. It´s just awkward to hear your boss talk about his date. That´s all."

„Oh come on. The two of you don´t have that typical employer-employee-relationship."

„I don´t sleep with him, okay?"

„I know. I know. But still, you two are pretty flirty and everything."

„That´s not true."

„That´s your opinion."

„It was just weird okay?"

„You should be used to it by now, shouldn´t you?"

„Why should I be used to my boss talking about his dates?"

„You are working for him for a while now. Don´t tell me you didn´t realize that Barney is kind of a womanizer."

„Since I´ve been working for him, I never saw another woman with him."

„ANOTHER woman?", Lily smiles, „You mean no woman except you?"

„A woman, okay. I haven´t seen him with any woman by now."

„Really? That´s odd.", Lily pauses, „Probably he invites them to his office and bangs them during his lunch break."

When she sees how Robin gulps, she apologizes, „I´m sorry. I didn´t mean that. It´s just... I´ve seen Barney with many women. Usually, he has a date every night when Ellie isn´t home or when someone´s looking after her. I only know him this way. I didn´t want to ruin the picture in your head of the nice Barney."

„Forget it. It´s okay."

Lily lays her hand on Robin´s shoulder, „Hey. I know we hadn´t the best start, but I think you´re pretty cool actually. I wouldn´t mind to have a female friend, so... Friends?"

Robin smiles, „Okay, friends."

Before Lily turns to go, she says, „You can call me when you need something and... look, I know Barney can be all charming and sweet, but be careful. There´s barely a woman in New York he hasn´t banged yet."
