Summer Nights
Chapter 10
Annabeth's POV
Whenever Percy gave me his t-shirt I am pretty sure that my face resembled a tomato. That is the sweetest thing someone has done for me. In fact Percy was sweet all day. He held my hand on the rollercoaster, he won the owl for me, and he let me where his shirt home so I wouldn't get cold. As much as I hate to say it, I think that I might actually have a crush on Percy. And that makes me nervous.
On the way home from the park, Percy and I talked. We talked about our school and our friends and what kind of things we like to do. We don't have a lot in common but I don't think that matters. I just really enjoy being around Percy. He makes me genuinely happy and I haven't felt that way in a long time.

"Annabeth! Wake up!" Thalia screamed in my ear.
I looked over at my alarm clock 3:00am. I honestly don't remember coming to my bed. In fact I don't remember getting out of the car. I looked down at my clothes and I still had on Percy's shirt. I guess I fell asleep on the car ride home and Percy carried me to bed.
"Why are you trying to wake me up? It is 3 in the morning!" I said as I rolled back over.
"No. You are getting up now!"
"Come on Annabeth. The sooner you get up the sooner we can get this silly prank over and go back to bed." A very tired looking Juniper whined.
"Fine." I grumbled, "What are we doing?"
Thalia explained the prank and what we had to do. This prank was going to take a while to set up but Thalia said it would be a perfect prank. I just went along with it. We walked outside to the drive way and went up to Nico's car. Thalia handed me the glitter tubes and shredded paper. Then she just stared at me.
"What?"
"Annie, whose shirt is that?" Thalia asked with a smile on her face.
"Don't call me Annie!"
"Don't change the subject!" Thalia yelled.
"Shhh! You guys are going to wake everyone up!" Juniper whisper/yelled.
"Annie?"
"Fine it is Percy's" Thalia just laughed and Juniper started to smile and clap her hands.
"OMG! I knew you two would end up together!" Juniper said.
"We aren't dating. My shirt got wet at the park so he let me wear his so I wouldn't get cold and I just forgot to take it off. Okay? No big deal!"
"Whatever Annabeth. We will continue this conversation later." Thalia said.
I opened the door on the driver's side of Nico's car and started to pour the glitter into the defroster in the front of the car. Once I was out of glitter, I put the shredded paper in it as well. Before I got out of his car I turned the defroster on high. I climbed out of the driver's seat and closed the door.
"Ready?" Thalia asked handing Juniper and I the plastic Saran Wrap.
"Let's do this so I can go back to bed." Juniper stated.
Thalia began to take her wrap and wrap it around his car. Juniper and I did the same. One hour and 54 boxes of Saran Wrap later, Nico's car was completely wrapped. He had no way of opening his car unless he cut the wrap off. He was going to be so pissed.
We finally got back into our rooms and I quickly fell asleep. I woke up that morning to the sound of Sally at my door.
"Annabeth are you awake?" I looked at my phone. 10:30 am. Man Thalia's pranks can really get to you!
"Umm… yeah! Come in!" Sally walked into my room.
"Hi sweetie! I just wanted to let you know that breakfast will be ready in about 20 minutes."
"Oh okay! Thanks. I will be down as soon as I shower and change."
"Annabeth?"
"Yeah?"
"Is that Percy's shirt?" My cheeks turned blood red. "Oh my gosh! I told Poseidon that you two would get together! I just knew it! You two make such a cute couple!"
"Sally… We aren't dating."
"Oh. Well I still think that you two would be great together. I haven't seen Percy this happy in a long time and I know that is has something to do with you!" Then she walked out with a big smile on her face.

After my shower I quickly threw on some Nike running shorts and my track t-shirt. I put my hair in a messy bun and then walked down the stairs to the dining room. I sat in between Juniper and Percy. When I sat down Percy looked at me and gave me his famous smile and I wanted to melt. I smiled back and tried my hardest not to blush. I couldn't help but think about me and Percy as a couple. I have only known him for a couple of weeks now but we have gotten really close. Then I thought back to Thalia, those girls at the park and even Sally saying that Percy and I would be a cute couple. I was drawn out of my thoughts.
"Annabeth, do you want to go to this Battle of the Bands concert with me today?" Thalia asked
"It depends. What kind of music will the bands be playing?"
"Punk Rock. Duh!" Thalia said
"Sorry Thals. That isn't really my type of music so I don't think I will go."
"Fine Annie. What about you Juni?"
"Oh I would go with you Thalia, but Grover asked me if I wanted to go volunteer with him today." Juniper responded.
"Well then I guess I will just have to go by myself."
"Sorry Thals. Hey I know! We will have a girls' day on Friday! Just the 3 of us!" Juniper said excitedly
"Alright. That sounds good to me!" I said.
"Oh you girls remind me so much of Becky and I when we were younger." Sally said
"Aww those were the good days." Becky said. "So what are you boys going to do today since the girls are going out?"
"I am going to Leo's house for a couple of days." Jason said.
"I have to go home right after we eat. My parents want me to go pick up my sister, Bianca, from the airport." Stated Nico
"Percy, since you and Annabeth are the only two without plans how about you stay here and go on the beach? But be careful because all of the adults are going to be out all day." Sally suggested. I knew what she was doing and now I understand where Thalia learned how to meddle.
"Is that okay with you Annabeth?" Percy asked me.
"Um, yeah. Sounds like fun." But I spoke too soon. I forgot that Thalia had thrown away my swim suit. I can't get out of swimming today, Percy won't let that happen. So I have to wear the swim suit Thalia bought me. Thalia must have thought of this too because she was beginning to grin. I just glared at her. I hated that Thalia had won the swim suit battle finally.

After we finished our breakfast Thalia, Juniper and I ran into Juniper's room to watch Nico walk out to his car. We opened up the window so we could hear well. Then we saw Nico walk out to his car.
"Oh this is going to be great!" Thalia said with an evil grin on her face. We turned our attention back to Nico just in time for him to notice his car!
"OH. MY. GODS… THALIA!" Nico turned to face our window and started yelling. "Thalia Grace! What the hell is wrong with you!?"
Then everyone else in the house except for Thalia, Juniper and I ran outside to see what was going on. When Zeus saw what had happened he turned to the window and glared at Thalia.
"Thalia! Did you do this?" Zeus asked.
"Yep!" Thalia said popping the 'p'. "Sure did!"
"Get down here right now and help him get this shit off his car!"
"Fine! Gods, I can never have any fun!" Thalia mumbled as she turned to walk downstairs. Juniper and I began to laugh so hard that we were rolling on the floor.
After Juniper and I had finished laughing we decided to go help out Thalia and Nico. When we got outside Percy and Thalia's parents had already gone back inside the house. We helped Nico cut off what was left and listened to Thalia complain the whole time. After about 20 minutes we got the entire wrap off of Nico's car.
"Finally!" Juniper exclaimed.
"Juniper, are you ready to go? We are already 15 minutes late." Grover asked
"Yeah!" Then the two got in Grover's car and drove off.
Jason was next to leave. Leo and his parents stopped by to pick him up so he could spend a couple of nights with his old friend.
"Well I guess I am going to leave before Thalia decides to do anything else to my car."
"Too late." I mumbled to myself but Percy heard me.
"What?" Percy said with a confused look on his face.
Nico got in his car and started the ignition. As soon as the car started glitter and shredded paper flew everywhere in his car. Thalia dropped to the ground and laughed. Percy then realized what I had meant before and turned to me with a smirk.
"Good one Wise Girl."
"Thanks" I said with a shrug as an irritated Nico rolled down the window.
"Thalia. I WILL get you back for this one and I promise you will forfeit after this prank." Then he pulled out of the drive way and drove off.
"He is so overdramatic." Thalia stated. "Okay, well it has been fun but I have a concert to go to!" Then Thalia got in her aunt's car and drove away.
"I still can't believe that your mom let Thalia drive her car!"
"Yeah I know! I am not even allowed to drive it!" Percy whined. I began to walk away then Percy yelled after me.
"Meet you on the pier in 10!"
"Okay!" Crap Is what I was really thinking though.
I walked upstairs and reluctantly put on the swim suit Thalia bought and threw on a t shirt and some jean shorts over it. I stepped out onto the beach and started walking towards Percy who was already pier. Once I reached him I stood right beside him. He looked over at me with his big green eyes and all I could do was stare back. I don't know why I act this way around him. I have never done this before.
"Hey! I know what we should do! I should teach you to surf!" Percy exclaimed
"How about we just stay on the beach and relax?" I asked trying to avoid showing off my swim suit.
"Why don't you ever wanna get in the water? Aww is little Annabeth scared?" Percy said in a baby's voice.
"Shutup! No! I am not scared! I just don't like swimming as much as some people!"
"Come on!"
"No."
"Please!"
"No."
"Pretty please!" Percy said now on his knees holding his hands together like a 2 year old.
"Fine! I will get in the water!" A soon as I said that, Percy took off his shirt revealing his abs. It took everything in me to stop looking at him. He held out his hand to help me up. Once I was up I took off my shorts. Then I had no other choice but to take off the shirt too.
I slowly took off my shirt revealing the swim suit I had tried my hardest to hide. I looked at Percy and motioned towards the water, but he didn't move. He just stood there starring at me.
Percy's POV
I finally got Annabeth to agree to get into the ocean! It took getting down on my knees and begging but it worked. As soon as she said yes I took off my shirt that way she wouldn't have as much time to change her mind. Then she took off her clothes revealing her swim suit. I didn't know what to do. I thought Annabeth was pretty before but gods she is gorgeous. I couldn't help but stare at her body. She was very well built. She was so tiny but at the same time she looked like she could knock someone out with just one blow. Annabeth motioned for me to lead the way to the water but I couldn't move. Her face started to turn red and I realized I was probably making her uncomfortable.
"Oh um, sorry." I said as my face started to turn a bright red.
"No problem." Annabeth said then the atmosphere lightened up a little, "So are you going to get in the water or are you just going to stand here. Because you were the one who begged me to get in Seaweed Brain!"
"Yeah I am getting the water Wise Girl! Calm down!" With that I picked her up and put her over my shoulder just like I had done only a couple of days after we met. But this time she wasn't yelling at me to put her down but laughing.
I jumped into the water with Annabeth still on my shoulder. Once we surfaced Annabeth had a big grin on her face.
"See the water is fun once you actually get in it!" I said.
"Oh shut it!" Annabeth yelled as she splashed water at me.
"Oh you're gonna get it now!" I said.
Annabeth started to swim away. She was pretty quick but I was faster. I mean I wasn't the captain of my swim team for nothing! I caught up with her and pulled her leg until she was face to face with me. She stopped laughing when she realized how close we were. I started to lean in and she did too. I realized what I was doing. Did I want to stop? Hell no. But I remembered what she said earlier about not being ready yet. So I had to stop. My lips were only about a centimeter away from hers. Before it was too late I pulled away and splashed her with water. She opened her eyes and her face turned blood red so I did the only thing one can do when you make Annabeth Chase mad… RUN. Well swim. I started to swim away from her and she chased after me.
"Percy!" Annabeth yelled as she swam after me, "I am going to kill you!"
After a couple of hours of us swimming after each other and splashing each other we walked back onto the beach. We sat there for a minute in silence until finally Annabeth said something.
"Let's build a sand castle!"
"Why? Mine always end up falling down by the water anyway."
"Stupid Seaweed Brain! That was before I was here to help you! Now come on!"
Annabeth got up and reached her hand out for me.
"Let's go inside to get some stuff to build it with." I stated and Annabeth followed me to the house.
"Okay do you have and sand buckets or anything?" Annabeth asked.
"Umm yeah, actually. There should be some in the hallway closet on the first floor!"
"Okay! I will go get those and you can go find us some shovels and make us a snack!" Then she turned around to go to the closet. While she was doing that I decided to look for the shovels outside in our supply building.
I looked for the shovels for about 30 minutes and finally found them behind and old ping-pong table. Man we really need to clean that building out! I walked back into the house and heard screaming and loud banging noises coming from the hallway. Annabeth.
Annabeth's POV
I asked Percy to build a sand castle with me so I could try and keep my mind off of almost kissing him again today. But this time I wasn't upset because I was scared, I was upset because it didn't happen.
I walked into the closet to find the stuff we would need to build the sand castle and the door shut behind me. I didn't think anything of it and I continued to search for the supplies. Once I got what I needed I turned around to see a huge spider right in my face!
I dropped everything that I had in my hands and started to scream. I hate spiders they are the one thing on this earth that I am truly scared of and of course there had to be one in the closet. I kept screaming and quickly ran past the spider to the door. But the door knob was gone! Someone must have done this on purpose. The only person I could think of was Nico. He would do this for that dumb prank war!
I pounded on the door for what seemed like forever and screamed my lungs off. I finally gave up and slid to the floor and cried. The spider was on the other side of the closet now but I was still scared out of my mind. After crying for a good 10 minutes the spider started to make its way closer to me. I jumped up and started to scream again and began to pound on the door. The spider was only inches away from me and I all I could do was scream. Then, all of a sudden, the door to the closet opened and Percy was on the other side.
When I saw Percy the first thing I did was run into Percy's warm body. I wrapped my arms around him and cried. I wouldn't normally do this, but like I said spiders scare the hell out of me! I hate crying it makes me feel weak and crying on Percy made me feel even worse. At first Percy didn't know what to do. But after registering what happened he wrapped his arms around me and picked me up bridal style. I didn't protest, I didn't even make any smart remarks. The only thing I did was cry.
Percy's POV
I ran to the closet and tried to open the door but it was stuck. I pulled as hard as I could and the door opened. As soon as it opened Annabeth ran up to me and wrapped her arms around my body. I had never seen her act like this before so I didn't know what to do. Then I saw the huge spider and put two and two together. I am not always a seaweed brain.
I put my arms around Annabeth and then picked her up bridal style. She didn't do anything but cry. I walked up to the elevator and pushed the button for the second floor. Once we got there I walked into Annabeth's room and sat her down on her bed. I pulled a blanket over her and I sat down beside her and put my arms around her.
"Percy." Annabeth said weakly.
"Yeah?"
"Thankyou." Annabeth said. But then she did something that surprised me. She kissed me. Sure it was just on the cheek, but when she kissed me my face turned red and I knew right then and there that I wasn't going to let anything bad happen to Annabeth. I was going to protect her.
A/N: Okay so I am very aware that has been more than a week like I promised, but I have been really busy! I had this huge Animal Kingdom Project due, 3 softball games before spring break and then I went to the beach over spring break to play 4 softball games a day! I got back yesterday and the first thing I thought of was you guys and this story. I missed writing so much! After this week though things should start to calm down again!
So this chapter had a little bit of Percabeth in it and it made me so happy to write about it. I am going to warn you guys though the Percabeth Fluff is about to start… so be prepared!
