Well... *Dodges thrown food and rocks* This was a long time coming... *Gulps at the sudden appearance of weapons*. I actually had this chapter written before about half of the posted chapters... Whoops.. I just had to edit it but hey! It's up now! I also apologize for this chapter because I really have no clue how labour goes except for the simple details- chick gives birth and someone tells her to breath... Also to the question that I forget who asked- let's just say that Hermione never felt the before-hand pains, contractions because of that spell that shrunk her belly.. So she'd already been going into labour and the disappearance of the spell allowed her to go into full-blown labour =)
Chapter – Not All Fun And Games
Hermione's breath was laboured and her face was dripping with sweat as Draco watched her lying on the hospital bed. They were in Hogwarts' hospital wing along with Blaise and Ginny who also decided to give birth. A sheet covered Hermione's naked bottom half, the green dress up around her waist, for which Draco was grateful.
As he listened Draco could hear Ginny groaning in pain through the curtain that separated her bed from Hermione's. The blond was pushed to the side as Madame Pomfrey bustled past, a bowl of water in her hands which she dabbed on Hermione's face with a wash cloth.
The brunette moaned in pain, her belly rising and falling with her breathing. Draco shifted his feet, not really wanting to be there. That kiss had been a close call and not something he wanted to repeat. Madame Pomfrey waved her wand over Hermione's enlarged abdomen and a picture projected itself above the bed, showing the baby along with its heart rate, temperature and all the things Draco assumed were important.
The Medi-witch put the bowl on the bedside table and with an assured glance at the birthing girl, swept through the curtain to tend to Ginny. Draco tried not to look at Hermione, his gaze wondering over a painting above the bed as a hand touched his.
The Slytherin glanced down to find Hermione's hand entwining itself with his. A frown marred Draco's features as he moved to take his hand back but Hermione held on tightly, a glare evident on her face, "You even think of leaving me here and I will make sure that this is the last child you ever have."
The effect of the witch's words stopped Draco but her glare broke as she screamed her way through a contraction, getting Pomfrey's attention. The older witch hushed Hermione and checked her vitals before considering something.
"Miss Granger would you like to take a shower and try giving birth there?" Her words were gentle and Hermione nodded slightly. Pomfrey muttered a quick spell and Hermione rose into the air, pulling Draco along by their joined hands as she floated to the shower, the sheet still around her legs.
The shower room was large and spacious with a metre-squared shower head that hung in the exact centre. A wave of her wand and Madame Pomfrey conjured a chair under the shower in front of which Hermione kneeled, her arm and head resting on the seat. Another wave and the shower turned on, Draco trying to avoid the water but failing as the Gryffindor pulled him back to her side.
"Now stay there dear while I check on Miss Weasley." Pomfrey streaked from the room, obviously stressed as Draco pouted at his water-soaked clothes. The water also washed over Hermione adding obvious relief as her eyes fluttered closed. The sheet that had been draped from her lower back had turned see through, making a light red flush rise in Draco's cheeks as he turned his attention elsewhere.
The Medi-witch returned and observed Hermione for a moment before with a flick of her wand, got rid of her dress. The girl seemed oblivious as the warm water pounded onto her back, sending rivulets down to the floor. Draco visibly blanched and turned away, his hand still grasped in the Gryffindor Princesses hand.
"Mmm that's better." A small voice drifted from the brunette at the obvious pleasure of having her wet, clingy dress gone. Pomfrey moved Hermione's hair from her face, patting the girl on the shoulder, "That should help dear, better for you. Now I want you to breathe slowly and deeply." Draco risked a glance at Hermione, looking her naked body up and down before turning away again.
At that moment a scream came from Ginny and Madame Pomfrey left again as Blaise started shrieking. A loud crack came from the hospital wing as Ginny's hand slapped Blaise across the face, "Shut up Blaise before I castrate you." 'What was with pregnant woman and threatening to take away a guy's manhood?'
Draco chuckled softly and Hermione groaned in pain. The sheet had fallen to the floor from the pounding of the water and the Slytherin glanced back at her and frowned, 'What was that in between her legs?'
"Uh, Madame Pomfrey?" His voice reverberated through the shower room but his words were masked by Ginny screaming again. Hermione let out a small gasp of pain, her hand tightening around Draco's fingers turning them a shade of purple.
"Bloody hell Granger." Draco's voice was small and Hermione turned her face slightly to glare at him, "Get over it Mal-" She turned back and cried out, pain etched on her face. The Medi-witch still hadn't returned from tending Ginny who's cries where getting louder along with Blaise's.
Draco looked back to Hermione as the witch gave one final cry and pushed, the baby sliding out of her. Darting forward Draco caught the blood-covered baby, a look of part horror and part disgust on his face. He finally managed to reclaim his hand from Hermione and pulled out his wand, conjuring a white towel that he wrapped the baby in.
The baby had been screaming the moment it entered the world but as if sensing who was holding it, the baby instantly quietened.
The tired and aching Hermione slumped on the chair, looking up at Draco, "Is it a girl or boy?" The blond moved the towel and checked, looking back down at Hermione, "It's a little girl." Happiness swept over Hermione and she held out her arms for the baby. Draco obliged and then turned off the shower with his wand, watching Hermione hold her daughter with joy.
The baby yawned, a hand reaching up to rub her eyes which fluttered open revealing bright grey eyes streaked with blue and silver just like her fathers. Hermione's breath hitched as the baby girls hand wrapped around her mother's index finger, pulling it to her mouth to suckle on. Draco watched the mother-daughter bonding moment as outside the door Ginny gave one final scream.
Blaise's voice echoed into the shower, "Holy mother of sin what is that!?" A loud crack followed his words as a tired but fiery Ginny hit him again, "That is your son!" Blaise despite being belittled, blundered on, "But it's covered in blood and god knows what else!" Ginny, getting annoyed at this point, held her baby to her chest and yelled back, "It's supposed to be!"
Blaise seemed resigned as Ginny went about wiping at the gunk and blood on her baby with a small hand towel. Draco chuckled once again at their banter and turned back to Hermione who was holding her daughter in a cradle style. "So what's the kid's name?" Draco drawled; seemingly back to himself as he attempted to avoid looking at Hermione's obvious chest.
There was pride in the Gryffindor's voice as she whispered to the baby, "Harmony Alexis Granger-Malfoy." Draco glanced up as she said his last name, "Why does it have my name?" Annoyance crossed Hermione's face, "Just because you don't want her doesn't mean she has no right to your name, Malfoy. She is your daughter whether you admit to it or not and she is a Malfoy."
Draco stepped back under the brunette's onslaught before catching himself and with a flick of his robes he walked out of the room, past a bewildered Madame Pomfrey on her way to check Hermione. "How are you Miss- oh?" The Medi-witch gave a small exclamation as she found her patient had given birth already.
Pomfrey bustled forward and cleaned up the mess of blood and such that surrounded the younger witch. "Here, give me the baby." She held her arms out for little Harmony and Hermione kissed her daughter on the forehead before handing her over. She watched as Pomfrey left with Harmony before returning without her.
"She's beside your bed," Pomfrey cut over the brunettes question and whipped out her wand, cleaning Hermione off and clothing her in loose fitting clothes. She then hovered the girl out of the room and back to her hospital bed where a clean Harmony was wiggling in her cot.
A glass of blue-tainted potion was pushed into Hermione's hands, "Drink this, it'll help you recover faster," Madame Pomfrey instructed before pulling the curtain back that joined to Ginny's bed revealing the worn out Weasley, grumbling Zabini and baby-occupied cot.
Hermione gulped down the potion and her body instantly relaxed and she calmed down. Any thoughts about Draco drifted from her mind as if the potion had stolen them. So, content, she watched Harmony kick her legs and flail about.
Ginny smiled at her friend and sat up, "Hey 'Mione how are you?" The girl in question looked up from Harmony and smiled lightly, "Tired, you?" The red head nodded in return, "Same." She motioned for her baby, Blaise obliging and handing over the wiggling child.
"Allow me to introduce Sirius Tyler," The baby boy blinked his brown eyes slowly as he was held up, a tuft of reddish brown hair atop his head. His skin was a whole lot darker than Harmony's, courtesy of his father. Sirius gurgled and Ginny laughed as she cradled him, Madame Pomfrey handing her a blue jumpsuit for Sirius and Hermione a pink one for Harmony.
The two girls placed their babies between their legs on the bed and proceeded to dress them under the Medi-witches sharp eyes. Once Harmony was dressed Hermione cooed at the child, "What's her name?" She looked up to find Blaise leaning against her bed, smiling down at the baby, "Harmony Alexis," The brunette opted to leave out her daughters last name for now as she combed back Harmony's matching brown coloured curls.
"Cute name." Blaise turned back to Ginny and Sirius as the doors to the hospital wing burst open and Ron and Harry ran in, skidding to a stop between the two occupied beds. The two boys, still dressed in formal-wear, ogled at the babies, their mouths agape as Harry sat on the edge of Ginny's bed and Ron the same to Hermione's bed.
Harry reached out to Sirius and the baby grabbed his hand, pulling it about, "His name is Sirius…" Ginny whispered to him and Harry's eyes took on a shinier quality as he watched Sirius gurgle and flail his arms about, Blaise watching the interaction murderously.
"Wow, for Malfoy's kid, she's not too bad…" Ron stared intently at Harmony prodding her leg with his finger. "Ronald!" Hermione scolded and pulled her daughter into her lap as Madame Pomfrey came back from wherever she had gone to. "Take these." To which she handed the two female Gryffindor's a baby bottle, each filled with a green-tinged milk formula.
Hermione teased the bottle's teat into Harmony's mouth and the baby began to suck rapidly, milk dribbling down her chin. Harry, who had wandered over, wiped away the milk, before standing awkwardly with Ron. "You guys don't have to stay here you know." Hermione dabbed at the milk trailing from Harmony's mouth with a cloth before offering her the bottle again.
"Uh, yeah okay, I have to go find Luna anyway, she's convinced she's going to have her, I mean our kid tonight…" Harry trailed off before flashing a smile at Hermione and Ginny, dragging Ron from the hospital ward.
"Well that was fun." Blaise clapped his hands and walked around to Ginny, smoothing back Sirius's hair, "But I'm afraid I have to go as well." He went to leave but Ginny turned a glare to him and he froze before slinking back to the chair beside Ginny's bed, "Or not…"
So... *Purses lips* that was weird to write... Also Blaise is totally Ginny's bitch.. Just saying. And isn't Harmony just the cutest? Thought that name was pretty cool and ironic since she's the one who brings harmony between her parents. And Sirius Tyler- honestly I just couldn't think of a middle name to match so... Hey! I have the next chapter written! Got a few more to write then another party-type thing... Mainly because I'm bored... *Sigh* How much longer must I be forced to write this weird and awful story? (FYI, when I read over this story, I honestly wonder why I posted it... It's awful and Hermione and Malfoy get awfully close in such a short amount of time... Also really dramatic..) Hey, you want to read a better FanFic? Go and read The Hunter and The Demon, (I wrote it) it's not complete yet but believe me, I am much more eager to write it than this. (FYI it's a Supernatural fic about Jo/Dean (What do you call those two? Me, personally, thinks their ship should be called Deano.)) ANYWAY! Hope you liked and I really don't care anymore if you review, I don't like this fic so yeah... I don't care that I don't care.
