Kenadee held on to Brittany's leg tightly, yawning slightly, as her mother continued to scribble her signature on an order form for the food for the Santana's Christmas Eve dinner for the kitchen. Brittany glanced down at her daughter and ran her fingers through her hair.
"You okay, sweetheart?" She asked her, lifting the iPad she was holding back up, and going over the list of things she needed to make sure were done for Santana.
"We play now?" Kenadee asked.
"Not yet, I'm working, baby girl, but we can play a little later. I promise." Brittany told her. "Why don't you go color with some of the awesome crayons and books Miss Santana bought for you?"
Kenadee shook her head and rested it back on Brittany's leg, causing Brittany to sigh, it was a little after noon, and she'd been up working non stop with Santana all morning, she accompanied her to a meeting, where she took notes for her, they then did some grocery shopping for the kitchen, and put everything away. Brittany then went over the books for the kitchen, noticing more than a few discrepancies in the way Santana's former accountant balanced these books as well. Finally, they put together the menu for the Christmas meal, with Rachel's help, before they began to plan the decorations. Kenadee was a trooper and stayed quiet, but she wasn't used to having Brittany be so busy and not ready and able to play with her when she wanted, so the past hour she stayed close to her and held her leg, while Brittany signed a number of order forms.
"Brittany, did you sign for the food delivery?" Santana asked, walking out of the kitchen and in the dining area of the building.
"Yes, he's going to start unloading in a few minutes he stated." Brittany nodded.
"Great, thanks." Santana smiled. "Sorry, I've been on the phone all day. My agent is driving me crazy with all the stuff I have to do this week, so I'll be gone a few nights."
"It's okay." Brittany smiled, bending down to pick up Kenadee and rub her back, turning her head to clear her throat before focusing back on the ipad.
"Miss S'tana, can we play?" Kenadee asked softly, resting her head on Brittany's shoulder.
"Play?" Santana smiled, walking closer. "I think you need a nap." She stated, noticing how tired Kenadee's blue eyes were, she glanced up at Brittany for approval, and after she received a nod from her, she kissed Kenadee on the cheek. "How about you lie down, then we when your gorgeous blue eyes aren't covered in the sleepies, we can go get a Christmas tree together?"
Brittany rubbed Kenadee's back. "That sounds so fun, Miss S'tana knows where all the best Christmas trees are too."
"Totally." Santana nodded in agreement, while winking at Kenadee, who's tired face lit up before a yawn escaped her mouth.
"Like the tree on the TV yesterday?" Kenadee asked.
"Just like that one." Santana nodded. "You can pick it out."
"Brittany, the delivery guy is asking for you?" Rachel stated. "He swears you said three crates of eggs, but we usually get two crates, and then he told me..." She started to ramble.
Santana rolled her eyes at her friend and sighed, locking eyes with Brittany, who was used to Rachel's sudden rants after spending the morning with her. "Can you take Kenadee, sorry?" Brittany asked.
"It would be my pleasure." Santana smiled as the little blonde looked up at Brittany, who nodded to her that it was okay, before reaching for the Latina.
Santana kissed her on the forehead and walked over to the couch over to the side and sat down, with Kenadee on her lap, she watched Brittany direct the delivery men all over instructing them on where to put everything efficiently. "You're momma is so awesome." Santana whispered to her softly, Rachel overheard her and raised an eyebrow, noticing how Santana's eyes seemed to twinkle as she stared at Brittany.
"Oh my gosh." Rachel stated as her eyes widened. She ran over to the closet where they had a number of toys and grabbed a ball and quickly came back. "Do you want to play with the purple ball?" She asked Kenadee.
The little blonde nodded with a smile, looking up to Santana, who winked at her before hopping off of her lap and accepting the ball from Rachel. "Thank you." She whispered before beginning to bounce it.
"She's a sweetheart." Rachel smiled at Kenadee.
"Yes she is." Santana nodded. "What's up?"
"What are you doing?" Rachel asked her quickly.
"I was going to help Brittany with the shipment."
"No, I mean with Brittany, I see the way you look at her." Rachel whispered.
Santana's eyes widened as she grabbed Rachel's arm and pulled her to the corner. "Shut your mouth." She stated sternly.
Rachel smiled. "You know me, you know I would never tell anyone your secret."
Santana looked around nervously.
"You know you can't...Brittany is probably in a fragile state right now, and I'm sure her main focus is her daughter."
Santana nodded. "I know, nothing will happen, I just, she's gorgeous, I thought she was when I first saw her, but I'm more attracted to her personality, she never became a mental victim of homelessness, she's super witty, and astute, and smart..."
"And she has your heart in the palm of her hand." Rachel sighed. "I support whatever you do, you know that, but be careful...wait, does she even know?"
Santana nodded. "She figured it out herself when we were in LA."
"Is she?"
"I don't think so." Santana shook her head.
"Be careful." Rachel repeated before walking away.
Santana watched Brittany run over to Kenadee and pick her up kissing all over her face. Kenadee squealed and hugged her mother tightly around the neck.
"How does the tree look?" Santana asked Kenadee after her and Brittany wrestled the huge 9ft tall Christmas tree in the penthouse.
Kenadee, who was standing on the couch in her socks, nodded happily. "It's big Miss S'tana."
"That's what we want." Santana smiled. "The bigger the tree the better."
"What do you think silly rabbit?" Brittany asked her daughter, bending down so she could climb on her back.
"Santa coming here?" Kenadee asked, resting her chin on Brittany's shoulder. "It doesn't have colors." She then frowned.
"Ornaments." Brittany clarified for her.
"Oh... I have ornaments." Santana assured her. "We can put the colors on a little later, because your blue ornaments are droopy and rimmed in red now." She teased.
Brittany glanced at her daughter and smiled. "Whoa...Miss Santana is right, time for a nap."
"But the tree!" Kenadee shook her head.
"I promise it'll be right here when you wake up." Santana nodded, she held up her pinky finger to the little blonde, who blushed and linked fingers with her happily.
"Okay." Kenadee yawned as Brittany flipped her over her shoulder and skillfully caught her.
"Come on, baby." She told he as she carried her to the bedroom, tucking her in the huge bed and rubbing her back as her big blue eyes fluttered close. She kissed her on the cheek and closed the door slightly as she stepped in hall and saw Santana pushed a big box down the hall.
"Colors for the tree!" Santana stated happily.
"You're going to mess your back up." Brittany laughed and bent down to push the box with her, hip checking her playfully.
Santana blushed. "So, if you don't like my ornaments just let me know and we can get some new ones."
"Whatever you have is fine." Brittany shook her head. "K won't know the difference, this is her first real Christmas, so everything is perfect for her. Thank you." She added looking deep in Santana's eyes. The Latina waved it off and smiled.
Once they got the remaining three boxes out of the storage closet in the hall, they began to put up the smaller decorations leaving the tree for Kenadee to help out with. They hung lighted garland around the fireplace and the island in the kitchen, they went out on the balcony and hung the lights, and carefully put the wreath out, before adding the wreath to the front door, and the smaller ones they bought to each of the bedroom doors. They then sprayed the cans of fake snow on the huge windows at the bottom, following the stencil set Santana had. they added different holiday and winter themed shapes as well, before adding more lights and garland everywhere transforming the space into a winter wonderland.
Brittany noticed Santana sneaking glances at her the entire time and laughed at how adorable she looked, and how shy she was being. "So, do you have any traditions for the holidays?" Brittany asked as she looked for a good spot to hang the mistletoe.
"Not really, my parents help me with the Christmas Eve dinner at the kitchen, then the actual day after church we have dinner and just hang out." Santana smiled, walking the step stool over to Brittany, to help her with the mistletoe. "Anything special your parents would do?"
Brittany climbed up the steps and hooked the mistletoe in the corner, Santana held the step stool tightly as Brittany positioned the mistletoe before slowly and carefully stepping back down. Brittany looked up and smiled, "we have to be the first ones to use this, you know."
Santana swallowed thickly as Brittany leaned forward and kissed her on the cheek softly. "Thank you for everything you've done for Kenadee and me, I don't know if I could ever repay you for your generosity."
Santana blushed. "Don't mention it and you are helping me out as well, so it's a fair trade." She then leaned up and kissed Brittany on the cheek quickly and shyly. "So, ummmm, do you think we have enough decorations?"
Brittany walked deeper in living room nodding in approval. "I think it looks great."
Santana sat on the couch and pulled her feet under her, she nodding while looking around. "I think she'll love it, is there anything special I can help you out with for Kenadee?"
Brittany sat down next to her and shrugged. "You've done enough, I have some money, thanks to you hiring me, so I can get her some gifts."
"That's great." Santana smiled. "This is her first real Christmas and i know how magical Christmas is for kids, so I want to help in any way I can, not necessarily buying gifts, if you want to do that yourself, I completely understand, but if there is anything else I can do..."
Brittany smiled. "Well, can you take us to see Santa?"
Santana laughed. "Of course, just let me know. We can do whatever holiday and Christmas themed activities you want."
"I just didn't know if you were busy with work, or doing stuff. I mean I can catch a cab and take Kenadee." Brittany told her. "But I wanted to invite you to come with us, she loves spending time with you, and..."
"Do you?" Santana asked quietly.
"Like spending time with you?" Brittany asked with a smile. "Of course." She nodded. "You have such a beautiful spirit, you're funny, you're dorky, and you've never made me feel like I'm less than you when we are in public. I feel like we are equals."
Santana blushed. "You are my equal, your financial status means nothing, in the blink of an eye all of this can be gone for me." She motioned around her penthouse with, keeping her eyes locked on Brittany.
Brittany nodded thoughtfully. "Do you like hanging out with me?"
Santana whispered a quiet yes. "Brittany I need to tell you something..."
Brittany, who was looking out the window turned to face her. "Okay."
Santana glanced at her hands and began to speak when Kenadee cried loudly and began to scream for Brittany.
"Momma!"
Brittany jumped up and ran to the bedroom, hopping over the couch they were sitting on in the process to get to her daughter. "Kenadee!" Santana jumped up and ran after her, stopping at the door as Brittany entered the room.
Kenadee sat in the middle of the bed, a wet spot next to her, and her head in her hands as she cried. Brittany felt her heart drop so she glanced at Santana. "Can you give me a moment?"
"Yeah." Santana nodded and closed the door as she went back to the living room.
"Hey." Brittany said carefully as she sat down on the bed next to Kenadee.
"I didn't do it on purpose, I didn't make it." Kenadee cried.
Brittany lifted her in her lap and rubbed her back to calm her down, while kissing the top of her head. "It's okay, baby, I'm not mad."
"Miss S'tana..." Kenadee hiccuped.
"No, she's not mad either, it was an accident sweetheart, the bed is really high and you couldn't get down." She continued. "Momma should have asked if you needed to go before I laid you down."
"I didn't do it on purpose."
"I know you didn't." Brittany sighed. "It's okay, sweetheart...honest." She added, lifting her little chin, so she could look in her eyes, which were extremely red and swollen from crying. "Let's take a nice warm bath and get you all cleaned up."
Kenadee nodded against Brittany's chest and hugged her tightly as she picked her up and carried her to the bathroom. She held her tightly, kissing on the temple and cheeks while humming softly and running a warm bath for her. She squeezed in some bubble bath and quickly stripped her down, setting her in the warm water.
"When I was your age, I peed in the bed too." Brittany explained as she started to run the warm towel over her back. "You are so good because this is the first time you've peed in the bed, and you tried to get up to use it."
Kenadee looked up at her. "I tried."
"I know you did, baby girl, and thank you for trying to get up, and thank you for calling me right away." Brittany smiled.
"Miss S'tana be mad I wet her sheets?" Kenadee asked nervously, looking up at Brittany with the saddest look Brittany had ever seen on her face.
"No, she won't be mad, I'm sure she'll be happy that you're okay." Brittany told her.
Kenadee nodded and ran her fingers through some of the bubbles in the tub. Brittany hummed to her daughter while washing her up, hopping to relax her enough that she would go back to sleep and finish her nap. Brittany lifted her out wrapping her in a towel and kissing all over her face to make her smile.
"I love you kiddo." Brittany smiled. "Do you know how much?"
Kenadee shook her head.
"More than all of the Popsicles in the world." Brittany beamed as she carried her back to the bedroom, she went to the chest and pulled out a pair of footed pajamas and undergarments for her and got her dressed, noticing her yawning.
"That's a lot of Popsicles." Kenadee smiled.
"A whole lot." Brittany smiled as she got her dressed and set her in the recliner in the corner, handing her teddy bear to her. "Let momma get the bed all clean for you." Brittany stripped down the bed and left the room, tripping over Santana, who was sitting on the floor in the hall. "Sorry."
Santana jumped to her feet. "Is she okay, do you need a doctor?" She asked nervously.
"No, she's okay, she peed in the bed." Brittany stated, lifting the ball of sheets for emphasis. "She's a little embarrassed and thinks that you're upset with her."
Santana shook her head quickly. "No, accidents happen." She stated softly, grabbing the sheets from Brittany. "Let me wash these for you, clean sheets are in this closet." Santana nodded towards a door in the wall.
Brittany smiled. "Thank." She grabbed some clean sheets and went back to the room, she glanced at Kenadee, who was curled in a ball, falling asleep, holding her teddy bear tightly. Brittany quickly made the bed and kneeled down next to the chair, rubbing her back.
"Come on Kenadee, let's get back in bed." Brittany said softly.
"I wanna stay with you." Kenadee shook her head as she woke up slowly.
"Come cuddle with momma." Brittany told her, lifting her up and carrying her to the living room, where Santana was watching TV.
Kenadee stared at her and hid her face in Brittany's chest.
"How are you feeling, honey?" Santana asked her, when Brittany sat on the couch. "You know when i was little I used to pee in the bed all the time, almost every night, I couldn't get myself up to go."
"I couldn't get out the bed." Kenadee whispered, finally peeking at her.
"The bed is really big huh?" Santana asked, locking eyes with Kenadee, who nodded. "Well, I'm sorry that all of my stuff in really big in my house."
"Okay." Kenadee nodded.
Brittany smiled at Santana as she continued to talk. "I'm glad you're not hurt, when you screamed and cried, I got super scared, I thought something happened to my best friend."
Kenadee's eyes widened. "Best friend?"
Santana nodded. "I mean, I know your momma is your like super duper best friend, but we're best friends too, right?"
Kenadee nodded. "Momma too."
"Yep, the three of us can be best friends together." Santana smiled, glancing up at Brittany shyly, who was staring at her.
"Okay." Kenadee smiled.
"Do you want to watch some cartoons?" Santana suggested, turning the TV to the Disney channel as Brittany leaned back and cuddled Kenadee to her chest, rocking her as she struggled to stay awake and watch her cartoon.
6pm
Santana walked back in the penthouse, after slipping out and leaving when Brittany fell asleep with Kenadee, she set down the take out dinner she bought on the counter, and carried the boxes she had with her to the bedroom that Brittany and Kenadee were using. She set up everything she bought and went to the living room, where she set down two small boxes on the table.
She opened the take out cartons, and fixed plates for everyone before walking over to Brittany and rubbing her shoulder. "Hey, unless you want to turn into a vampire and stay up all night, you gotta wake up." She teased when the blonde's eyes opened slowly.
Brittany laughed softly. "What time is it?"
"A little after six." Santana stated. "I have dinner and a few surprises for both of you."
Brittany nodded and sat up, waking up Kenadee, who was pretty much awake anyways. "Let us get washed up." Brittany carried Kenadee, who was smiling at Santana to their bedroom, Santana running quietly behind them to see their reaction.
"Look it!" Kenadee beamed when she saw the small white staircase on the side of the bed, it was covered in teal, purple, and pink glitter stars with letter Ks on it.
"It's so you can get out of bed yourself, and get to the bathroom." Santana smiled. "Go look in the bathroom."
Kenadee ran quickly and squealed when she saw another matching set of stairs leading to the toilet, so she wouldn't need Brittany's help there, and a final set in front of the sink, so she could wash her hands herself.
"You." Brittany sniffled, becoming overcome with happiness. "You are so thoughtful." She finally managed to get out.
"I want her to feel like the big girl she is, everything in here is pretty high, but now she can feel a little more independent." Santana stated, smiling at Kenadee as she walked up and down the stairs.
"You can't play on them, sweetheart, I don't want you to get hurt." Santana told her.
"What do you say, K?" Brittany stated.
"Thank you Miss S'tana." Kenadee said sweetly running over and hugging Santana, who kneeled down to catch.
"You're welcome sweetheart."
Brittany smiled at the princess themed soap and toothpaste that Santana bought as well. "Let's get all clean for dinner." She told her daughter, as Santana stepped out of the room.
"Thanks for helping with the dishes." Santana smiled, handing the last plate to Brittany to dry as she washed it.
"You're welcome, thanks for dinner, I've never been to the place as long as I've been in New York." Brittany smiled.
"No biggie." Santana teased turning and leaning on the sink. "So I stopped by the RedBox and got the movies you teased me for never having seen the other day."
Brittany laughed. "I thought I was paying for those." She frowned.
"Okay, well then you owe me $10." Santana laughed, sticking out her hand teasingly.
Brittany laughed. "You got it. Let me make some popcorn first, and check on K one last night time before we get started."
"No rush." Santana smiled, staring at Brittany.
Brittany locked eyes with her and blushed. "You're beautiful."
"So are you." Santana whispered as Brittany moved closer and reached for Santana's check, she stroked it with her thumb as the Latina's breath hitched before Brittany leaned in and pressed their lips together, kissing her softly.
Santana sighed into the kiss and after the initial shock wore off, she began to kiss Brittany back as the blonde moved to stand in front of her, deepening the kiss and leaning more on Santana's body, she felt the Latina's hands start to roam her back as Santana hugged and began to kiss her hungrier, sucking her bottom lip into her mouth.
Brittany broke the kiss and rested her forehead on Santana's.
Thoughts?
