Thank you all, whether you just clicked my story for the first time or have been there from the start. :)
(By the way, some of them have amazing stories, go check it out!)
Anyway, this theme was requested by Flame Falcon. Also, Flame Falcon wrote a part of this so he takes some credit for writing the theme.
And I decided to do something different for this theme.
Instead of it being in Sheik's point of view, I switched it to Ike's. I don't know if I should do this often, it all depends if you guys like it or not. :)
Enjoy. :D
I slipped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around my waist. Picking up my comb from the sink, I brushed my hair, combing out small knots. I left the bathroom and started to get dressed in my usual outfit. I strapped on my boots and tugged on my cape. Grabbing some gel, I put some in my hand and spread it through my hair, making it spike up. After checking myself over, I deemed myself acceptable to the public and headed out into the hallway.
Today was going to be a great day! I had already made plans to train with Marth and Link after breakfast. After that, I was going to play some basketball with Toon Link, Luigi, and Captain Falcon. For dinner, I was going take my dinner and eat with Sheik at her favorite spot by the lake. I finally had the guts to ask her out and she said yes. Though, I asked her out last week, we hardly had the chance to hang out. We were all training for the next Smash tournament. What if one of us doesn't make it? I pushed the thought away. Climbing down the stairs, I went to the dining hall where I knew breakfast was already being served. The dining hall was buzzing with chatter and the sound of silverware scraping against plates. The mouthwatering smell of eggs, waffles, and bacon flooded my nostrils. Why was it that breakfast seemed to be the best part of the day? I shrugged and went right to the breakfast table. Grabbing an empty plate, I loaded it up with some pancakes and went to my table. Sitting down, I received a small punch to my left arm. I looked over to see Toon Link staring at me. He always had a funny expression on his face. I gave him a small punch back, trying not to hurt the miniature Link. He ended up toppling over his chair. I quickly helped him up as he glared at me. I couldn't help but burst out laughing. Settling down, I started to eat my pancakes.
"Why wouldn't the shrimp share his treasure?" Captain Falcon asked.
"Why?" everyone said in unison.
"Because he was feeling a little shellfish!" Laughter erupted from our table as we received stares from neighboring tables. After the laughter died down, Luigi spoke up.
"Let me-a try," Luigi cleared his throat. "What did-a one shark say-a to the other while it was-a eating a clownfish?"
"What?'
"This-a tastes funny!"
I caught Link's bomb and threw it back at him, catching him off guard. Marth came up behind me and I quickly rolled out of the way. I ended up rolling right into Link's attack, which sent me flying right back into Marth. We both got up and I attacked Marth, catching him by surprise. He was launched right of the training stage and was KO'd. All that was left was to take care of Link. I turned around to find a bomb coming to my face. It exploded upon impact, sending me upwards. Link and his damn bombs. I landed back on the stage, quickly getting up and anticipating Link's next attack. Link dashed and attacked. I countered, watching him roll down the stage. Chasing after him, I threw my sword up and brought it down on him. His percent was in killing range. One good smash and he's finished. This is going to be a piece of cake. Link threw out his boomerang, pushing me back as he pulled out another bomb. He ran towards me, his blue eyes determined to win. I side-stepped at his predictable bomb, allowing it to explode behind me. I shielded at Links swung his sword. I was just about to attack when Link's sword hit me a second time. Damn it. That second hit always gets me! I landed roughly on the stage and quickly got up. Link was advancing quickly and he was ready to end this match. I jumped up and brought my sword over my head and crashing down on Link, who was too close to get away. The sword connected and Link was sent sprawling away. I followed him, delivering the finishing blow. Link was out and I had won. Taking the transporter platform, I left the training room.
"Nice match guys," I greeted them.
"Pssht, you're just trying to show off for your girlfriend," Marth muttered, tilting his head towards the screen. I turned to look, seeing Sheik and Peach enter the training room.
"Ha, yeah. I'm sure he's excited for her party," Link added in, nudging me with his elbow.
"Party?"
"Yeah. Sheik's birthday party is tonight. You didn't forget, did you?" Marth asked.
"Excuse me. I have somewhere to go," I said, running out of the room.
"He forgot," I heard Link say.
I was nearly sprinting to the stairs when I saw Toon Link coming around the corner, carrying a basketball that seemed as big as he was.
"Sorry, buddy. I can't play now. Maybe later," I apologized, patting his head as I ran by. He had an upset look before returning around the corner. I ran up the stairs, going to my room. Throwing my sword on my bed, I knew there was one person who could help me.
(A/N For the record, according to a Super Smash Bros Wiki, Smashpedia, Zelda and Sheik have different birthdays)
"Samus!" I called out, stopping the blonde space warrior.
She turned and gave me a curious look. "What is it?" she questioned.
I caught up to her. "I was wondering if you could help me with something," I began.
"And what would this something be?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Well, I kind-of forgot Sheik's birthday and I need your help getting her a gift."
"You forgot her birthday? Wow, things aren't going to look so bright for you, loverboy." She turned to continue down the hall.
"Can you not call me that and help me out?" I stepped in front of her, blocking her path. "This is my only chance to impress her. And you're like her best friend. You know what she likes."
Samus sighed. "Fine. Only because you make her happy. But if you fuck up, I'll make sure you forget your own birthday."
I smiled and hugged her. "Thank you so much! I promise she'll be happy!"
"Let. Go."
We knocked on Snake's door. Though Samus never told me why, I just went along with it. The door opened and Snake walked out with a cigar in his mouth. "Yes?"
"Don't you know that there's no smoking in the Smash Mansion?" Samus scolded, inviting herself in.
He flicked the cigarette out the window. "Can I help you guys with something?" Snake asked, watching Samus go to his closet.
"Yes, Ike needs to go to the mall and buy a gift for Sheik. He needs to borrow some of your clothing so he doesn't stick out." Samus explained.
"Why doesn't he borrow yours?"
Samus stopped and looked at him. She shook her head and carried on, smelling the clothing. Why is she..?
I heard Snake chuckle beside me. "If you wanted clean clothing, you should've done my laundry."
Samus glared at him over her shoulder. "Might as well put you in with them."
"Touché." Snake mumbled.
Samus handed me a black shirt and what I remembered as "jeans". I went to Snake's bathroom to change. They fight like a married couple.
"So, what did you get Sheik?" Snake asked.
"Twin blades, shurikens, and a new chain to whip your ass," Samus muttered.
"Ouch. I don't play that rough."
"What did you get her?" Samus asked, completely ignoring his comment. When Snake never responded, she continued. "Let me guess, the same as last year?"
"I'm hoping this year will be different," Snake concluded.
"You are an idiot. She's not going to find it funny."
"Hey, last year she laughed her ass off."
"And then she kicked you in the crotch."
"But this time, I bought a steel cup."
"And that was information I did not ask for."
I stepped out of Snake's bathroom, stopping their conversation before it could get anymore weird. "How do I look?"
"Normal," Samus grinned.
Snake rubbed his chin. "I think the black really brings out your eyes." Samus took a step away from Snake. "What? I was just being honest."
Samus turned to me. "Okay. Listen. Sheik absolutely hates 3 things. If you get her any of these, you will become her training dummy. Do NOT buy her anything pink, any make-up, or a dress. Only Zelda can get away with getting her any of those. Do I make myself clear?"
"Crystal," Snake said.
"I wasn't talking to you!" Samus yelled.
"I get it. No pink. No make-up. No dresses. Easy enough," I said.
"Hmph, wait until you get to the mall."
I massaged my temples as I felt another headache come along. Who knew that buying a birthday gift for Sheik gave you headaches? The fact that she was a ninja, who would more than likely kill you if you picked the wrong thing, only added to the pressure. I never heard Sheik say that before, but it was more than likely the scenario I could see happening in the near future if I didn't buy her the right thing. Calming myself down with a few deep breaths, I walked into a store that sold lotion and other bath products, hoping something that Sheik wanted was in here. No matter which store I went to, I would constantly get weird stares from people in the mall. At least I don't stand out that much. Besides the fact that I have blue hair, I could pass as 'normal'. I ran my fingers through my hair and left, finding nothing. Looking around, a big shop caught my eye. It was a fashion store selling different types of clothing, purses, and other accessories. Well, I could get Sheik something from here. I entered into the store, only to be blinded by the sight of pink. Then again, I think this store will have to be a no-go. Ah well I thought. I shook my head and walked down the hall to the next store. It was another women's clothing store, but the proper term would be lack of. It was an undergarment store, though it looked like the models in the store front were not keeping it a secret. I smiled slyly to myself as I thought about buying Sheik a set or two from the store and maybe asking her to model them for me, in a room not so well lit. And maybe I would also not be fully clothed, either. My smile faded when I pictured the most likely reaction of Sheik strangling me and telling me to model it instead. I sighed sadly and left the store unwillingly. I continued down until I reached the end of the hall and passed other stores that didn't interest me or Sheik: An appliance store. She would kill me for trying to make her seem like a house wife. A mattress store. She didn't need any. Well, unless she wanted a new one that we could both try out. I pushed the thought away. An electronic store looked promising but neither of us would understand how to work the damned things. Sighing, I went upstairs to the food court and bought myself some lunch, hoping that if I had a full stomach, I would be able think clearly. I sat down in a chair that over looked the bottom of the mall. I browsed the store fronts as I sipped my iced tea. There were more dress stores then I cared to count and so many more make-up stores that were just bathed in pink. I think they're doing this on purpose. I finished the last of my food from the tray before placing it away. I wanted to do one last look of the stores before I go home. I did another sweep of the stores but I noticed one that I passed before. It was a small jeweler. It wouldn't hurt to look. Walking in, I was greeted by a young man, mid-twenties at most, and shook his hand.
"Good afternoon sir. My name is Fredrick and if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask."
I nodded and began to browse through the selection of rings, necklaces, and earrings. Sighing in frustration, I turned to Fredrick. "Actually, there is something you could help me with." Fredrick's ears perked up and leaned in to listen. "My girlfriend's birthday is.." I don't want to seem like a bad boyfriend.. "tomorrow. She is one of the most unique women in my life. She is hardworking, fun to be with, not afraid to get dirty to get the job done and she never likes to sit down. I want to get her something special but I don't know if what I get her will work for her."
Fredrick sat down behind a desk and put on some reading glasses, and he even chuckled a little as he did so. "Well, sir, you do have an interesting problem. So she wants something that will last and is durable?" I nodded and Fredrick uncapped a pen. "Does she wear earrings?"
Earrings? Sheiks ears.. I've never even seen her ears, let alone her face! Damn it. "No, she doesn't."
Fredrick perked up at this. "Interesting girlfriend."
"Oh, you have no idea." If she has the same features as Zelda, I'm guessing she has elf ears, too..
"So perhaps we could do a necklace made of sterling silver to make it durable and lasting. Is there any word or symbol you want the gemstones to show?" I thought for a moment and motioned to have the pen and paper. I began to draw a symbol for the necklace as best I could. It was the symbol of the Sheikah tribe that she wore on the front of her shirt. I passed the paper back and the jeweler nodded. "Any particular gemstone you want?"
"Amethyst, if you could." The jeweler nodded and we shook hands. He drew up a number and I nodded in agreement. I passed Fredrick half of the money up front and the jeweler would receive the last when the necklace would be finished. It would take about two hours for it to be made, so I walked down to another store and bought Sheik something she would use. It was a new knife that had a ruby in the hilt. I'm surprised they sell weapons at the mall. Though, I felt like something was missing. I paused and stood for a moment, thinking. I got Sheik two things that she would love, but yet I had an empty feeling. What's missing? I then thought about it and smiled, knowing what her third gift would be.
After picking up the necklace, I was ready to go home. Samus came in her space ship, scaring away all the people, which only caused her to laugh uncontrollably. So much for trying to be normal. I opened the bag and looked at the necklace, admiring the beautiful craftsmanship.
"Hey. What'd you get her?" Samus asked, leaving the wheel and coming to where I was seated.
"SAMUS! YOU LET GO OF THE WHEEL!?" I screamed at her, pointing at the steering wheel. The ship seemed to be tilting and heading straight for a tree.
"Oh calm down. I put it on autopilot," she muttered, ignoring the wheel completely. "I want to see what you got her."
"THE TREE! THERE'S A FUCKING TREE! WE'RE GOING TO CRASH AND DIE! I DIDN'T EVEN GET A CHANCE TO-"
Samus slapped me across the face. "Look." She pointed to the front window. I watched as the ship pulled up at the last second, completely missing the tree.
"Oh."
"Yeah. I still don't see why Sheik likes you."
It was time for the party and I was trembling with anxiety. What if she doesn't like my gift? What if she thinks I'm going too fast for her? What if she thinks I'm being cheesy? Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm myself down. Samus said she'd like it. I have nothing to worry about. Placing the necklace in a small box, I put it in my pocket. The knife I bought her would be in a gift bag. I was going to personally give her the necklace, as well as my third gift. I picked up the gift bag and headed to the giant living room. All the Smashers would be there as well as guests from Hyrule. Reaching the door, I could hear many voices and the sound of laughter. I entered and immediately tried to find Sheik.
"Hey loverboy," Samus said, coming up from behind me.
"Hey, have you seen Sheik?" I asked, looking over the crowd. There were so many people I was surprised Samus even found me.
"Yes. Follow me." She headed into the crowded and I followed the blonde ponytail as we weaved through the crowd. She lead me to where Sheik was standing, talking to people I've never seen before.
"Ike!" Sheik's eyes lit up and she pushed past the people. She was dressed in her usual outfit, but she wasn't wearing her cowl.
I gave her a smile. "Happy birthday, Sheik!" I hugged her tightly before handing her my gift.
"Thank you," she said, her face turning red. I could tell she didn't really like getting gifts, let alone have a party in her name.
Zelda appeared next to us and took Sheik's hand. "Come! Everyone wants you to open your gifts!"
Sheik's eyes widened and she tried to free herself from Zelda's steel grip. "You told me I could open them later when I'm by myself!" Zelda only laughed and continued pulling her towards the gifts.
I chuckled and followed the two. This was going to be fun. The gifts were all placed in the corner of the room. Some gifts were large while others were oddly shaped. I could only spot one gift bag that was pink and I had a feeling it was Snake's and not Zelda's. I wonder what he got her that always got him injured. Zelda promptly handed Sheik her gift first and motioned for her to sit on the couch. Sheik sighed and grudgingly sat down with Zelda's gift bag. She reached in it and pulled out a book. Sheik gave her a questioning glance.
"Open it!" Zelda beamed.
Sheik flipped open the book to find pictures of both of them. From what I could see, it started at infancy and seemed to work its way up until the present. Sheik's eyes watered but no tears slid down her unmasked face. "It's wonderful," she whispered to Zelda, who was smiling more than Sheik was.
Samus appeared and handed her gift to Sheik. "Congratulations. You're getting old," she said with a smirk. Sheik laughed and opened the gift. Her laugh is beautiful.
Soon everyone handed their gifts to her and Sheik look over whelmed from gifts. I went to go get a drink and when I returned, I found Snake curled up on the floor and Samus laughing uncontrollably.
"What happened?" I asked Snake.
"Ugh, she dented my steel cup," he mumbled.
I laughed and helped him up, handing him my drink. He took it and mumbled something about getting a different gift next year. I wonder what he got her? I'll ask Sheik later. Speaking of Sheik, seeing that she was left alone, I decided that now was my chance. Walking past Snake, I went and took Sheik's hand. She jumped but relaxed when she saw it was me. I started to lead her away from the gifts before she could ask.
Outside Smash Mansion, I took Sheik to her favorite spot. It was much more quiet away from the people.
"Wow, making me ditch my own party," Sheik joked once I let go of her hand.
I laughed. "Actually, I have a gift that I wanted to give to you personally." I dug around in my pocket as Sheik cocked an eyebrow. Pulling out the small box, I placed it in her hand. Her eyes widened as she opened the box.
"Ike, you shouldn't have."
"Can I put it on for you?" She nodded and handed me the necklace. I put it around her neck, watching as it hung beautifully around her neck. I brushed back some of her hair to clip it on, revealing her elf ears. They were not indeed pierced, but the tips were a bright cheery red. They look soft. After the necklace was on, I turned back to face her, admiring how well the necklace was one her. She, too, was captivated by the necklace.
"Thank you. It's perfect," she said. She looks over whelmed.
"I still have one more gift."
"No Ike. I think this is enough. Really. I love this and I couldn't have asked for anything more."
I took a step closer and she stopped. Our faces were inches away and her red eyes never left mine. My heart was racing and I felt my legs grow weak. Just when I thought I was going to pass out from anticipation, I slowly leaned in and kissed her. Sheik wrapped her arms around my neck as we both closed our eyes. I felt lost in her soft lips. After we broke away for air, I smiled.
"Happy birthday, Sheik."
Sheik's ears twitched as a smile spread across her face. Her eyes were twinkling in delight and her golden hair was dancing with the wind. I wish I could stay here forever and just hold her like this. She's perfect in every way. I'm grateful that I have her because I don't know what I would do without her.
Ahh, the first kiss. How romantic.. :D
