A very special thank you to my bestest friend Jules Ann for updating this chapter for me. For some reason I wasn't able to last night or tonight. You guys should check out her stories. They are amazing.
"Nessie, want to come and help me bake Christmas cookies? We need to make a whole bunch for all the people that are coming." Esme told her granddaughter.
I sighed in relief. Thank you Esme for changing the subject of Jacob and him coming with us to cut the Christmas tree.
"Okay Nana. I get to eat some of the cookie dough!" Nessie said.
Emmett made a face." That's so gross Nessie. You do realize your half vampire right?"
Nessie smirked. "Of course I realize. I'm not stupid. But I am half human to. Under special occasions, I do enjoy Cookie Dough from time to time."
Emmett gave up
Nessie went into the kitchen with Esme.
I followed and so did Rose and Alice.
"I am glad you girls are helping to. I am thinking of making 100 cookies for the party." I want to make Chocolate Chip cookies, Sugar Cookies, and Peanut Butter Cookies." Esme said.
"Yummy." Nessie said.
"We have to bake 100 cookies of each of those?" I gasped.
"I would like to yes. Don't worry; I doubt they would go to waste. Remember, the wolves are coming. They eat anything and they are growing boys." Esme said.
"I have all the mixing bowls out and ingredients. Let's get busy." Esme said.
"We need cookie cutters." Nessie pointed out.
"Good idea Nessie. They are in the top drawer by the sink. Grab whatever you can find." Esme said.
Carlisle had walked in and gave Esme a kiss.
"Baking my love?" He asked.
"Yes. I am not sure how long we will be either. Good thing we don't need sleep." Esme said.
Carlisle chuckled.
"I found the cookie cutters Nana. We have snowmen, Christmas trees, Christmas Angles, Reindeer, Santa's and Snowflakes." Nessie said.
Nessie had her arms full. Carlisle took the cookie cutters from his granddaughter's arms and places them on the counter.
"Thank you Papa. Want to help bake cookie?" Nessie asked.
"I would like to baby girl. But, I have a stack of papers and emails that need tending to. You girls have fun. Try not to eat too much cookie dough. You will get sick and it's not good for you." Carlisle said.
"Okay Papa." Nessie said.
Carlisle gave Esme a kiss and then went up to his study. I could hear Jasper and Emmett talking about what game to play on the Wii and Edward followed Carlisle up to his office. I figured he was going to talk about the locket he wants to get for Nessie for Christmas. The one with the Cullen crest and family picture.
"Who is ready for some Christmas music and fun?" Alice asked.
"I am!" Nessie shouted.
Alice went over to the table and plugged her phone into the portable speakers so we can hear Christmas music.
Jingle Bell Rock came on and we started to sing and dance to it.
I put Nessie's hair in a messy pony tail and I did my hair.
Esme was getting the mixing bowls out and the ingredients.
"First thing we need to do is wash our hands ladies and then let's get baking." Esme Instructed.
We all went to the sink to wash hands and then we were ready to bake.
"Nessie and Rose, you two can get the dry ingredients together in one mixing bowl. Alice and Bella, you can get the cookie sheets out and get those ready. I'll get the stove heated up." Esme said.
"What cookies are we baking first?" Nessie asked.
"I'm thinking Sugar Cookies." Esme said.
Rose got her IPad out and found instructions for the Sugar Cookies.
"Okay Nessie. First step is four and a half cups of powder sugar. Can you pour it or do you need me to?" Rose asked.
"I can pour it." Nessie said.
Nessie then went and got the measuring cup and a spoon to measure the sugar. When she was done measuring, she poured it into the measuring cup.
"Is that right Auntie Rosie?" Nessie asked.
"Yes. Good job. Next step is three cups of butter. " Rose said.
"I'll get the butter softened." Alice piped up.
Alice went to the refrigerator and got the butter out. She put the butter on the counter. She took the wrapper off and put the butter in the bowl and then put in the microwave to soften it.
Rose was looking at the instructions.
"Next step is one and one half teaspoons of Almond Extract." Rose said.
I got the Almond Extract and a measuring spoon. Nessie held the spoon while I poured it.
By then, the butter was done in the microwave and Alice poured it into the bowl. Then Nessie put the Almond Extract in next.
"We need three eggs." Rose said.
I went to the refrigerator and got the eggs and helped Nessie crack them open.
"You're doing great Nessie." Esme said smiling.
"Thanks Nana." Nessie said.
"Next step is seven and one half cups of flour." Rose said
Esme got the flour and helped Nessie measure and pour.
A little bit of flour spilled and Nessie giggled.
"We now need one tablespoon of baking soda." Rose said.
Alice got the baking soda and measured one tablespoon into the mixing bowl.
"Last step is one tablespoon of Cream Of Tartar." Rose said.
I got the Cream Of Tartar and put it in the bowl.
"Well done girls. I'll put the dry ingredients in the mixer okay?" Esme said.
Nessie and all of us agreed.
Esme got the bowl and poured it all into the mixer.
"I'll heat the oven up. What temperature Rose?" Esme asked.
"375." Rose said.
Esme heated the oven up. Then went back to the mixer and turned it off,
"Next we need to divide dough in half. Roll each half 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut into desired shapes with two and two and a half inch cookie cutters. Sprinkle with granulated sugar. Place on cookie sheet. "Rose said.
Alice went and got the place mat and I sprinkled the place mat so the dough wouldn't stick.
Esme got the dough ready and started to put it on the mat. Then she handed Nessie a rolling pin and all of us one.
"We have a lot to do girls. So let's get rolling." Esme said.
Each of us working on our own place mat got busy rolling the dough and making it a flat, smooth surface.
Once it was flat enough, we got the cookie cutters we wanted and stared making the dough into shapes.
I did a few Christmas trees, a few Snowmen, and some Angles.
"When do we get to put sprinkles and frosting on the cookies Nana?" Nessie asked.
"We put the sprinkles on after we cut or shapes out. Then we will put the frosting on after we take the cookies out of the oven." Esme said.
"What happens if our guests don't eat all the cookies?" Rose asks.
Rose was making Gingerbread cookies.
"I guess your father can take them to his work and give them to his employees." Esme said.
"Don't worry, by the end of the night, more than half of the cookies will be gone." Alice said grinning.
Nessie was busy making Gingerbread boys, Snowmen, and Christmas trees with her cookie dough.
Once our dough was cut out into the shapes we wanted, Esme said we could put sprinkles on the cookies.
Nessie grabbed the green and red container and started to sprinkle some of them onto her Cookie. It was one of her Christmas trees.
"That looks great Nessie. We will frost them after they come out of the oven." Esme said.
"Okay Nana." Nessie said.
Each of put sprinkles of our own batch of cookies that we made. All of the cookies were different shapes and sizes and colorful with sprinkles.
"Let's get the first batch into the oven." Esme said.
We carefully placed the cut out cookie dough into the cookie trays and then Esme put them in the oven.
"While those are cooking, we can cut out more cookies and use the cookie cutters again." Esme said.
Esme handed Nessie another batch of cookie dough. "Sprinkle some flour on your mat first and then start rolling the dough out. Flat and smooth just like last time."
"Alice, please set your timer for eight minutes." Esme said.
"I'm on it." Alice said.
Alice set the timer and went back to her cookie dough.
"Thank you Alice." Esme said.
"You're welcome Mom. I hope the boys like these and eat all of the cookies. I would hate to see all this work go to waste." Alice said.
"Of course they will love the cookies. Since I helped, they will love it even more. Jacob most and Claire. Nana is the best cook around."
"She is the best cook Ness. When I was human, she always made me the best home cooked meals. You never go hungry." I said.
By then, the timer had gone off and Rosalie went to go and get the first batch out of the oven. Our cookies were done and it was time for the second batch to go in.
"Thank you girls for the nice compliments on my cooking. Alice, I was thinking of whatever leftover cookies we have, we will have your Father take them to work. I'm sure his employees will love and appreciate them." Esme said.
"Good." Alice said.
Alice had set the timer on her phone for another eight minutes.
"I was thinking Ness, want me to call Sue and see if Claire can come over
tomorrow and help us decorate Gingerbread houses?" Esme said.
"Yes!" Nessie said.
"I'll call her." I said.
I got my phone out and dialed Sue's number. She answered on the second ring.
"Hey Sue, its Bella. How are you?" I asked.
"Busy, but good. Thank you. How are you?" Sue asked.
"Good thank you. Esme and I were wondering if Claire can come over tomorrow and help us decorate Gingerbread houses. Nessie would love to see her." I said.
"Claire would love to. What time should I drop her off?" Sue asked.
"How about 11:30?"
"11:30 sounds perfect." Sue said.
"Do Seth and Leah want to join us?" I asked.
"I think they have plans already. But, I will ask." Sue said.
"Can Claire stay for dinner? We can take her home." I offered.
"Of course she can. " Sue said.
"Perfect. Thank you. See you tomorrow." I said.
"I'll text when I leave. See you tomorrow. Have a good day." Sue said.
"Thanks. You to." I said and hung up.
"Claire will be coming over tomorrow and we will take her home after." I said.
Nessie smiled. "Thanks Momma."
"You're welcome. "
"Can Jacob come and do the gingerbread houses to?" Nessie asked.
I rolled my eyes. Of course she was going to ask that.
I gave her the phone and she dialed his number. It's the least I can do since he can't cut the tree with us.
While Nessie was on the phone with Jacob, I went and finished helping bake the cookies.
